About this house rental
Upper Canyon Lookout’s views of the Lincoln National Forest and Sierra Blanca Mountain are spectacular from inside as well as from the huge 455 sq. ft. deck. The mountain views and quiet surroundings provide a feeling of seclusion, but the Ruidoso shopping district and restaurants are just 2 miles down the mountain. In addition to the views, the deck is a favorite area for relaxing in the cool mountain breeze while watching the wildlife. deer, hummingbirds, and turkeys are frequent visitors with an occasional sighting of fox, elk, and bear. In the summer, our family loves to cook on the deck’s gas grill and enjoy all our meals outside on the deck’s dining and picnic tables.
During winter weather, your family and friends can enjoy the same mountain views from our large open living room, kitchen and dining area with vaulted wood ceiling and beautiful stone gas-log fireplace (instant on/off for your convenience and pleasure). Stay entertained playing board games, cards, dominos, WII, catching up on old times, or watching the 55” Smart LED HDTV . DVD player is provided and surround sound is available for TV, DVD and radio. The Smart LED HDTV in living area & in all 4 bedrooms connect to our internet. Living room & Master bedroom have HULU live TV. Use your personal account to watch Netflix, Prime, HULU etc. on all TVs.
Our single-level cabin has a 2-car carport, WIFI, central heat, air conditioning, richly grained cabinetry, granite counter tops, unique tiling, and wood tone flooring throughout. Each of the 4 bedrooms has its own bathroom, ceiling fan, and an HDTV smart TV. 3 bedrooms have king-size beds and 1 bedroom has a queen-size bed. The fully- equipped kitchen has a large bar, dishwasher, and room for multiple cooks. The laundry room provides a washer, dryer; sink, iron & ironing board, and room to store your golf clubs or ski boots.
While Upper Canyon Lookout provides many ways to make new memories, there are many things to see and enjoy in the area. See the map section for our cabin's proximity to some favorite activities.

We have been staying here since 2020 and this house is perfect. Great location 5 minutes from downtown but perfectly quiet setting with great views. Terry and Carlene are awesome hosts that do everything in their power to make everything feel like home. Even through the fires and floods that Ruidoso experienced this year they were on top of everything. The even notified us of a water outage that the city had before we noticed it. You will never have a regret if you tent this house!!

This cabin was perfect for our family to enjoy our much needed time together. Mornings out on the huge covered porch with an amazing view of the mountain. Deer greeting us each morning. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook breakfast. Living Area was also very cozy for all to gather and reminisce. Would highly recommend to stay here. I look forward to our next stay at this beautiful home.

We had a great time at the cabin! It had everything we needed and the host was great at communicating and responsive! The best part was the great view, it was so good I used it as a backdrop to propose to my girlfriend! Overall would definitely recommend and would stay again!

The house had a great layout for all to enjoy. 4 good size rooms, each having a bathroom. Large kitchen, Living Area, and Dining Room. View from the deck was by far the best view of the Mountain. We enjoyed spending Christmas in this home and would definitely book this house again in the future.

Beautiful cabin! Only a few minutes from town. Plenty of space for a family! I loved that each bedroom had it’s own bathroom! The view has to be one of the best in Ruidoso! The host paid special attention to every detail! Can’t wait to go back!

This home fit us perfectly. It has 4 bedrooms 4 baths. The kitchen appliances are top notch. There are obvious instructions for wi-fi, tv and light switches. We were all happy to be there.

How to expand on a previous review. Terry and Carlene are the ultimate property owners. They cancelled their own plans for the property and opened it back up for rent on Vrbo to accommodate our group for a golf tournament. They are quick to respond to any question or need you have. And, I assure anyone who rents the property will have few questions or needs. It is clean, well maintained, comfortable, open concept and the view is breathtaking. We have seen turkey, deer, wild horses and a young mountain lion enjoying the sun on a crisp morning. Consensus of my group is this is the best place we have stayed and we have been in multiple properties over a 13 year timeframe.

Our family getaway was nothing less than perfection. The cabin and amenities were just as described. Short distance to town for fun shopping and local cuisine. BBQ grill worked well and enjoying our beautiful views of sierra blanca was amazing. Mother Nature at her best with hummingbirds, stellar Jays, deer, turkey family with 9 kids was my favorite including Fox.
Enjoyed the many elk and calves. while in town we saw a large bull elk just relaxing on our trip down whirlaway. Wow!

Nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding landscape, the cabin provided a serene and rejuvenating retreat for our much-needed getaway. This property was exactly as pictured. It’s tucked away peacefully up the mountain. The view from the back deck is spectacular! When they say you need 4 wheel drive or chains for even the light snow, they mean it. We had a little trouble getting up to the house the first day, but we made it safely and had the absolute best time!
The owners are incredibly thoughtful and quick to reply with any questions or concerns.

This was by far our favorite rental we’ve stayed at! the kitchen was so well equipped, it had everything you could possibly think of! Great location, so close to downtown but also just far enough to make it extremely quiet and relaxing. Every room having a bathroom is so nice when traveling with family and friends. 10/10 will stay again!

Beautiful location and away from the noise and crowds. Single level home that what you see, is exactly what you get. We have stayed in many homes in Ruidoso and this is, hands down, the best yet. Great layout, open floor plan. Owners are very accommodating and even checked on us. 5 Star all the way around!

This 4 bedroom, 4 bath house was perfect for our annual sister trip. The owners thought of everything to the last detail and everything we needed for a weeklong stay was provided. The house was exceptionally clean, which was much appreciated. This cabin is beautiful and the views are breathtaking! We spent every morning and evening on the deck watching the deer, birds, and wild turkeys and just enjoying the quiet. Couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful location.
