Having fallen in love with this marvelous town of Uzès "classified as a city of Art and History, the owners decided to renovate an old sheepfold in the middle of an olive grove, Le Mas des Oliviers, located in the town of Uzès itself.
The large plot of land of 3200 m2 made it possible to build an independent gîte, l'Oustalou, in harmony with its environment. Its location at the other end of the land and the vegetation allow great privacy.
The large swimming pool, 13x6 m faces south .An electric blanket helps maintain the temperature at night.

The cottage with a total surface area of 60m2, includes a living room, a dining area, a fully equipped open kitchen (4 gas burners, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, toaster), television flat screen and free WIFI, Air conditioning was installed in September 2019.

Lovely pool much needed to escape the heat. Charming and comfy cottage on the grounds of owners home. You share the pool with the family. They are polite but it isn’t private. This is clear on the listings. The town of Uzes is lovely and pont du gare is close. The house is well situated to the main road into Uzes.

Would recommend this property for a visit to Uzes and surrounding areas. Very nice and responsive owner of property; beautiful, private, safe setting close to Uzès; comfortable beds and sofa; plenty of kitchen amenities, (though we didn’t cook while there); nice patio area. Was cold and windy during our stay, so weren’t able to use outside facilities, but we could see the owners take good care of it.

Superbe gîte au carrefour de sites d’exception !
Nous avons passé un magnifique séjour au Mas des Oliviers en ce mois de juillet 2022.
Le gîte est très bien équipé, l’extérieur est superbe avec de nombreux oliviers, lauriers, lavandes...et le chant des cigales ! La piscine est très agréable et particulièrement bien conçue pour les petits comme pour les grands !
D’Uzes nous avons pu visiter tout le secteur (Nîmes, Avignon, les grottes, la Camargue...).
Encore merci au propriétaire pour son accueil et sa gentillesse !

The perfect place to relax and unwind.
Set in the most beautiful grounds lined with olive trees, this stunning cottage was the perfect place for us to relax and unwind. Gerald our host was fantastic and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay with our 2 year old daughter. The cottage has all of the facilities you need and is within walking distance of the beautiful town of Uzes and a stones throw away from the most delicious bakery! We had warm croissants and sweet pastries every morning for breakfast! The highlight for us was the incredible swimming pool… just beautiful!! We will certainly be recommending this place to friends and family back home. Thank you Gerald for an amazing stay and for all your recommendations. We’ll be back if you’ll have us!

Tolle Unterkunft
Wir haben eine Woche Ende Juni dort verbracht und uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Man kann zu Fuß nach Uzes laufen und viele Sehenswürdigkeiten sind in 30 Minuten mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Besonders genossen haben wir den tollen Pool! Die Vermieter sind super nett, unkompliziert und aufgeschlossen!
Empfehlungen: Kanutour auf der Gardons nach La Baume (in Richtung Pont du Gard ist es nicht so schön), Wanderung von Sanilhac-Sagriès nach La Baume, Uzes, Nimes, Pont du Gard ….

Een Droom
Het was een prachtige vakantie, een droom, alles wat je kon denken was er , de omgeving is prachtig, je kan er veel beleven, de stad zelf is maar op een half uurtje wandelen langs een mooi weggetje, op vijf minuutjes heb je een bakker,apotheek en Provencaalse winkel. Kortom we hebben een prachtige vakantie gehad en volgend jaar gaan we terug.

Ferienhaus im Olivenhain
Gut ausgestattetes Haus mit wunderschöner Terrasse umgeben von Olivenbäumen. Der Vermieter wohnt auf dem Gelände, er ist hilfsbereit und freundlich. Auf dem Gelände kann das Auto überdacht stehen. Uzès ist zu Fuß in 20 Minuten erreichbar. Wir fanden das angenehm, da es beispielsweise an Markttagen rummelig zugehen kann und es dann entspannter ist, in das Stadtzentrum zu laufen als zu fahren. Wir haben uns ausgesprochen wohl gefühlt und werden wiederkommen.

WWunderbares Ferienhaus / Magnifique maison de vacances
Wir haben Ende September/Anfang Oktober einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in Uzès genossem. Besser hätte man es nicht treffen können: Schöne, grosse Terrasse in spektakulärem Ambiente, warmer Pool (obschon bereits Herbst, hat Gérald uns das Baden ermöglicht), bestens ausgestattetes Haus und vor allem ein sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. Es hat uns an gar nichts gefehlt! Ein riesiges Dankeschön an Gérald!
Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour à Uzès fin septembre/début octobre. Cela n'aurait pas pu être mieux : Belle et grande terrasse dans une ambiance spectaculaire, piscine chaude (bien que déjà en automne, Gérald nous a permis de nous baigner), maison bien équipée et surtout un hôte très gentil et serviable. Nous n'avons manqué de rien ! Un grand merci à Gérald !

Paradise on earth
This was one of our best stays ever. The house and garden and pool were just like it was described - even better. Gerard was there waiting for us to explain everything we needed to know about in the house. The house itself was very well appointed, clean and modern. La campagne à deux pas d'Uzès
Très jolie location à deux pas d'Uzès, confortable et bien aménagée avec une terrasse ombragée et un joli jardin bien entretenu, très agréable par les fortes chaleurs. La piscine de très belle dimension convient tant aux nageurs qu'aux baigneurs. Nous avons passé une très belle semaine au Mas des Oliviers et ne manquerons pas de recommander l'adresse.

Confortable et accueillant
Tout est pensé pour que l'on se sente bien. Excellent accueil et maison bien équipée pour se sentir comme chez soit. Située dans un trés joli jardin, la maison permet un accès à Uzès à pied par un chemin trés agréable. Je recommande !

Great stay
We had a wonderful week at this property. Gerard was extremely helpful, from booming to meeting us in person when we arrived late on the Saturday evening. He was helpful in suggesting places to eat and where to go.
The house is lovely, perfect for a family of four and is well equipped. We all loved the huge pool! The house is in a beautiful setting and Uzes within easy reach. Boulangerie/small shop and pharmacy all walkable from the house.
We had some great trips to the Pont Du Gard, Nimes and the beach (only 1hr 15 mins away).

Wunderbare Idylle bei hervorragenden Gastgebern
Wir haben eine Woche Ende Juli 2020 in diesem Ferienhaus verbracht - also bei sehr großer Hitze. Das Haus ist hervorragend gedämmt und hat eine Klimaanlage, so dass es sehr gut möglich ist, sich im Haus und natürlich am Pool von der Hitze zu erholen.
Alle Elemente der Beschreibung treffen zu. Die Bilder geben einen sehr guten und authentischen Eindruck von der Anlage wider. Haus, Garten und Pool sind sehr gepflegt. Man sitzt wunderbar auf der Terrasse unter den Olivenbäumen mit Blick auf Oleander und Lavendel (fast kitschiges Südfrankreich-Gefühl... aber so schön!). Auf der Terrasse gibt es einen Tisch und eine Sitzgruppe, die beide zum Verweilen einladen. Das Haus und insbesondere die Küche sind sehr gut ausgestattet.
Von Uzes aus kann man sowohl sportliche Aktivitäten unternehmen (Kayak, Canyoning, Klettern, Wandern, Fahrradfahren) als auch kulturelle Highlights besichtigen (Uzes selbst - Palais Ducal und mittelalterlicher Garten sehr empfehlenswert-, Pont du Gard, Nimes, Orange, Avignon). Uns hat auch die Bambouseraie in Anduze sehr gut gefallen. Nicht zu vergessen - insbesondere für Kinder (und Erwachsene ebenso) - die Besichtigung des Bonbon-Museums von Haribo (1 km vom Haus entfernt). Haribo hat eine alteingesessene Lakritz-Fabrik übernommen und ein Museum gebaut. Nett gemacht!
Der kleine Pfad zum Ortskern ist sehr empfehlenswert. Einkaufen ist sowohl zu Fuß als auch in kurzer Distanz mit Fahrrad oder Auto sehr gut möglich. Die Cafés und Restaurants in Uzès runden den Aufenthalt ab. Der Gastgeber, der selbst gutes Essen schätzt, gibt hierzu die besten Empfehlungen.
Die Empfehlungen gehören für den Gastgeber offensichtlich selbstverständlich zum Check-In-Vorgang. Dieser war besonders herzlich, so dass wir uns sofort sehr wohl und aufgehoben gefühlt haben. Der Vermieter wohnt mit seiner Familie auf dem Grundstück. Die zwei Häuser teilen sich den Pool. Man kann sich sehen, wenn man etwas braucht oder besprechen will, aber man kann als Mieter absolute Ruhe und Intimität genießen.

Just what we were looking for
We reserved the cottage for the month of March. Gerald, the owner, provided detailed directions to the property. The cottage was as described on the website. The bedrooms, living room area, bathrooms, and kitchen were very comfortable and with quality furnishings. Everything was very clean, well equipped, and maintained. As mentioned in other reviews, Gerald is an excellent host and was very welcoming upon our arrival. He gave us instructions on how to operate all of the equipment in the cottage and gave us a thorough orientation. In addition, he also provided some reference tourist books, map of Uzes, and suggestions for restaurants. Gerald lives on the property, but it is large enough to afford as much privacy as you wish. He speaks very good English which is wonderful for those of us who are not fluent in French! As was mentioned in other reviews, the town of Uzes is very close by and we took the short walk by the path to town several times. The cottage is also conveniently located by car near a large Carrefour and shopping center, and within a 10 minute walk to a bakery (sandwiches and bread) and a small grocery market. Uzes is a lovely town and well located in the Gard region which has many nearby attractions to explore. Unfortunately, our stay was cut short by the Covid 19 coronavirus epidemic and we had to leave L’Oustalou in the middle of March.. Gerald was very supportive during this difficult time. We plan to return some day and finish the rest of our vacation!

A wonderfully relaxing fortnight
This was our first stay at this property and we were absolutely delighted with it.
The accommodation had everything we wanted, the pool was glorious and our hosts were charming - welcoming and friendly while still being discreet.
The location of the gite is ideal with a boulangerie and other shops within a few minutes walk and the town of Uzes close by too. We walked in on one occasion and drove the rest of the time, always parking with ease.
All in all a five star holiday.

Our stay at L'Oustalou Jun-July 2019
This property and its pool have been thoughtfully and very skilfully planned , constructed and equipped by Gerald and his building team. It is a very pleasant haven, with good access from the main road but excellent seclusion so that guests can enjoy peace of mind but can go away easily to local attractions. The nearby bakery and small supermarket across the road are both very useful. We are particularly appreciative of Gerald's care and discreet attention (including his top-class wifi facility) during the very unusual period of fairly extreme heat and winds that affected the Uzes area when normal tourism movement was not easy to maintain. It was always a great pleasure to converse with him and be able to settle in to the environment with a sense of security. We would be very happy to return to this villa.

We stayed in March, the cottage was always warm and comfortable. Plenty of room to relax. All the facilities you need to enjoy your stay. Sunny terrace and garden. Gerald was very welcoming and available if we needed anything. The walk into town is pleasant, it took us about half an hour, but we are not fit and we took our time. It was good to walk of the great meals we had. Many places to visit in the area, we went to the cascades at La roque sur Ceze, wonderful and also visited Beaucaire.

A very pleasant cottage on the edge of the beautiful city of Uzès
We spent two weeks in this comfortable cottage. The owner Gerald welcomed us and made us feel immediately at home, he was always willing to help when asked but was careful to give us our privacy as well. The house has everything we needed for a two week stay and offers a lovely swimming pool to cool down in at the end of some very hot days.
It is a short walk into Uzès, which is a beautiful old city that is especially vibrant on market days when the market stalls take over all of the old town.
Centrally placed between Nîmes and Avignon the property offers many days out exploring the local area where there is so much to see and do. We made a couple of longer trips to Montpellier and to Marseille but really there was more than enough locally to keep us occupied. Definitely an area worth visiting and we’d recommend the property to anyone looking for a base here.

Relaxing, gorgeous stay.
We loved our holiday here. Gerald was an excellent host, discreet and helpful with excellent English. Uzes is a beautiful little town and a pleasant walk along a pedestrian rural track. We would go again.

A wonderful retreat
Couldn't have asked for more. In fact, we didn't ask for anything as Gérald had thought of everything. We were welcomed and informed of local rules and resources. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well-equipped. We were able to walk to Uzés on an off-road walking path almost every day. Other days we took side trips to Nîmes, Camargua, Aix-en-Provence, Avignon and Orange. Pool is very well kept and lovely. We would definitely stay again or recommend Gérald's cottage to a friend.

wonderful place to stay
The house was well organized and ready for us; with the owner prepared and ready to guide us through the workings of the house; a perfect place to stay for four. The location is also optimal, being on the outskirts of town but also easily accessible either by car or, more enjoyably, by walking through a quiet footpath into town. Uzes is a wonderful town, with plenty do visit historically but also the house is an excellent stepping stone to the historical offerings of the region.

Nice Owner. Lovely Spot.
The cottage was comfortable and pool was a hit with our kids. Enough privacy that you feel "in the country" but you can walk to a decent bakery in 5 minutes or to central Uzes in 15 minutes on a pretty little trail full of butterflies.

The cottage is indeed charming, well-situated and well-appointed.
Gérald welcomed us warmly and explained clearly how everything worked. The cottage has everything you need, from decent showers with plenty of hot water to properly sharp knives in the kitchen to a big comfortable sofa. It has its own sunny terrace, with olive trees for shade. You can walk to Uzès in 20 minutes along a pretty lane, or drive there in under 5 minutes. There's a dangerously good boulangerie just across the road. The weather was cold during our stay so the swimming pool was not an option, but the cottage was lovely and warm. Altogether highly recommended.

Fantastic - Thank You Gérald and family!
Gérald and his wife could not have been any more welcoming, and made us feel at home immediately, but he was also very discrete at all times, respecting our privacy too.
The property was well equipped and if there was anything we felt was missing we only had to ask and Gérald was very helpful - for example we asked for another chopping board and he produced one there and then.
It felt bigger in side than the impression we got from the pictures - the lounge/dinning room in particular - and was spotlessly clean. The pool was absolutely fabulous and my youngest spent more time in it than out of it! Probably the best pool we have had in all the years we have been renting in France.
We have been visiting the area for many years and love it. Uzès is a lovely town with a beautiful square (Place Aux Herbes) in the centre and it is close enough for us to visit the areas we like the most (Collias for dinner by the river at L'Enclos and a swim, or Kayaking down the Gardon, the beaches of La Grande Motte or L'Espiguette, the port of Grau-du-Roi for dinner by the river/harbour or even the cultural experiences of the Pont du Gard or the walled city of Aigues-Mortes to name a few) or to explore something new!
