About this cabin rental
“Peaceful Horizons”, as it is affectionately known, is a one-of-a-kind property located in the gated community of Leatherwood Mountains. The property offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and is perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Peaceful Horizons is comfortably decorated with all the amenities desired for a weekend (or weeklong) getaway. With a fully appointed kitchen and large living areas and spacious deck, there is room for everyone (sleeps 8) to relax and simply unplug. All three bedrooms feature queen beds and full ensuite bathrooms with their own private decks offering stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The property is remote but fully equipped with high-speed internet and wi-fi throughout the home. The home is conveniently located near Wilkesboro (10 miles), Blue Ridge Parkway (10 miles), and Boone (20 miles). Peaceful Horizons is convenient to Charlotte airport with a scenic 2-hour drive to get you there.

Our guests are invited to enjoy our Horseback Riding program where you can experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains pristine wilderness by Horseback (reservation required). You will have access to miles of hiking trails, mountain streams, stocked fishing pond, community swimming pool, playground and tennis courts, creek tubing (seasonal), on-site restaurant with active live music & event calendar (guest advised to check hours when planning meals).
Leatherwood Mountains has surveillance or recording devices on the property. Our neighborhood is very safe and our property very secluded. For added peace of mind, we have security cameras by the gated entrance and common areas. Individual properties may also have cameras on the EXTERIOR of homes. Please be assured they are not directed at private areas, hot tub porches etc.

We had such a grand time! Honestly, the pictures do not give it justice. You must see it for yourself . The view of the mountains reminds me of Gods grace and mercy. Such a beautiful , scenic and majestic view. Such a peace there. The cabin was beautiful and that too, was unexpectedly beautiful crafted and decorated. You must see if for yourself! Pack your food and meals for the days there and ENJOY!

The description doesn’t do this property justice. Perfect getaway with 2 adults and 4 teenagers. Bring food for all meals with you unless you plan to make the trek to town. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

I rented this property for a weekend getaway with 3 friends. The property is located at the top of the mountain but the roads are well maintained so there was no issues making it to the house. The home is very well kept, the home was very neat and clean. The home is so spacious although there are only 3 bedrooms. There's space for up to 6 people to sleep comfortably. Everything you need to cook and eat during your stay is provided (I.e toaster over, pots, pans, utensils, seasoning etc). The outdoor hot tub was a great addition to this property and very easy to use. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to renting it again in the future.

This cabin had it all...great location, beautiful mountain views and was very clean. The on-site management were so friendly and as a bonus there was an on-site restaurant with live music. Our kids loved looking at all the horses on property. The only thing that could have been better is if the speakers through-out the cabin worked properly (they were staticky). We'd definitely book this cabin again.

It has become a tradition to spend Thanksgiving weekend at Leatherwood. This year we had Peaceful Horizons. It is a beautiful house in a really quiet part of Leatherwood. We had loads of room to spread out, used the hot tub, played lots of pool and table tennis. The view from the deck was fantastic and the hiking and walking were right there and lots of good exercise. The staff at Leatherwood is always gracious and helpful and we hope to continue our stays at Leatherwood. Peaceful Horizons is truly an inviting and restful home. Thank you Leatherwood.

This isn't our first stay in Leatherwood and it won't be our last but from now on this property will be HOME! This well cared for home has everything you need to feel at home during your stay. It is well cared for and impeccably clean. Peaceful Horizons is name perfectly. There is sense of serenity throughout the home with the magnificent views seen from so many vantage points. If you are looking to "get away" and unplug, this is the place. If you still have to stay connected the fiber optic internet is there to keep you connected. We will be back.

Peaceful Horizons is a fantastic house for a family getaway. My family of four spent a week here. Yes, it is a longish, twisty drive up the mountain -- but the view is worth it, and the quiet is priceless. You can choose to stay put and have plenty (or nothing) to do, or you can drive an hour and experience Boone, Blowing Rock, and other area sites with shops, hiking, and history. Asheville isn't too far for a day trip. It was a great, relaxing vacation!

We enjoyed our quick escape to the mountains at this home. It is a beautifully built and decorated home, and it was very easy to figure out how all the amenities worked. The beds are comfortable, and there were plenty of extra pillows and blankets for the cold weather. Bathrooms were clean, and plenty of towels, soap, toilet paper provided. Teenagers loved the basement game room. The gas fireplace in the great room did a great job of keeping us warm and cozy. Best part: the amazing views from the back deck and hot tub. Most difficult part: the trip from check in to the house is long and winding, but the pay off is worth it!
My one complaint (and I did see this in other reviews): the kitchen needs a deep clean. There are food crumbs in the drawers (especially in the utensil drawers), and many of the pots and pans were dirty. To be fair, other renters likely left them dirty — but overall the kitchen was kind of gross and we felt the need to wash things before we used them (dishes were fine — really just cookware and cupboards in need of cleaning). The house also might benefit from a new set of pots and pans — even after cleaning many of the pots and pans were just in bad shape.

Peaceful Horizons - Title Says It All
This rental was amazing! Everyone was pleased with the cabin and already wanted to rent it out again in the future. Out in mountains with an amazing view and it fit all our needs. We were amazed at how much space we had in the cabin and the things to do outdoors as we tried our best to do everything we wanted but we couldn’t.

We had a wonderful stay at Peaceful Horizons. The house is gorgeous and very comfortable. It was an ideal location, particularly when trying to social distance. We had no shortage of things to do both in the house and out. Just sitting on the deck enjoying the view or playing ping pong was enough to make the trip a success. We also enjoyed horseback riding and swimming and tubing in the river.
My only suggestion would be to do a little spring cleaning in the kitchen and add a set of glasses. For a rental at this price point I don't expect to need to get a drink of water out of a coffee cup or plastic cup. While the kitchen is otherwise well stocked with the necessities it is a bit of jumbled mess making it difficult to find things. We had to clean up the hand mixer before using it as it was covered in dried batter. Also, the grill was really dirty, particularly underneath where it seems to be missing the grease catcher. These are really small things and overall it was a great experience! We hope to be back soon!

The house is beautiful and the views are amazing. Our only knock was the hot tub was broken, and that was one of the main things we were looking forward to enjoying. This house is also pretty far up the mountain, which leads to the beautiful views, but also takes a bit of time to get down and to the amenities.
