About this villa rental
THE GENERAL LOCATION:
The Los Nómadas luxury gated community offers seclusion, serenity, and security, right on the best stretch of famous Cosón beach, listed at the top of International Living's list of the top 10 beaches in the Caribbean (see excerpt below). Los Nómadas is a 10 minute drive away from Las Terrenas town, where you will find everything from a salsa dancing school to hair salons, shops, cafes, banks, etc. Las Terrenas has lots to offer in the way of restaurants and bars, including a wide array of fine dining like the 'Fisherman's Village' with a row of restaurants directly in front of the beach. Las Terrenas is always lively with the feel of a genuine Dominican town. If you need anything from town, like fresh fish from the daily fisherman's market, our motorcycle messenger can get it for you all for a few dollars. As a gated community set apart from local villages, Los Nomadas is safe and secure with 24-hour guards and video surveillance.
The villa is on the second-line of houses, so there's just one house between Casa Coco and the beach. A small pathway leads directly to the beach (about 50 meters).
A newly built airport (El Catey, code: AZS) is only 20 minutes from the house, offering direct flights from Charlotte (American Airlines) , as well as WestJet service from Canada. Or fly into Santo Domingo, 2 hours away on the new toll road. We can arrange airport transfers for you.
THE BEACH:
50 meters from Casa Coco lies idyllic Coson beach, awarded the 'Blue Flag Beach' designation by the Blue Flag nonprofit environmental group. This designation is given to only those beaches with exceptional water quality, environmental management, and safety and services. The beach has sections of perfectly calm water -- perfect for children -- and areas with small waves. Coson is exceptionally peaceful, with very little development apart from Nomadas and the small hotel next door. A long walk down the beach (or short car ride) takes you to a surfing haven with a famous local seafood restaurant and bar ('Luis') right on the sand of a near-deserted section of the beach.
Here's what International Living magazine wrote about Coson beach:
Perhaps the Caribbean’s best-kept secret, the once-sleepy fishing village of Las Terrenas is becoming one of the hottest spots for vacation homes in the Caribbean for those in-the-know. Some are even calling it the San Tropez of the Caribbean. The Dominican Republic boasts some of the best beaches in the world and Las Terrenas and the Samana Peninsula have the best of the best, including Coson Beach, or Playa Coson, a long, luscious stretch of untouched sand dotted with gently leaning palms. Besides beautiful beaches, Las Terrenas entertains with an eclectic mix of international restaurants and shops and outdoor pursuits from fishing and diving to hiking and whale watching.
THE VILLA:

In general, Casa Coco was a beautifully designed space with spacious rooms that accommodated our family. There were a few issues that I would like to address. In the master bedroom’s bathroom, there was no toilet paper holder and the toilet room always had a very intense ,unpleasant odor. In the kitchen, the stove surfaces were very grungy, and we had a lot of difficulty turning on the oven. Lastly, the Jacuzzi never worked properly. Francini, our house manager, try to turn it on the day that we arrived, but was unsuccessful. She sent two technicians two days later, that did nothing to resolve the problem. This problem, I feel, can be resolved, so please address them. Sincerely, Maximo.

Casa Coco was amazing. From the attention we received from Francine when we arrived to the same attention upon our departure. The house is beautiful with plenty of room for 8 of us to spread out. Everyone had a king sized bed and ensuite bathroom. Perfect!
Yonder was our housekeeper. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. Breakfast every morning was delicious. She was so pleasant and welcoming.
We took advantage of the chef package. Rudy and Sexton are outstanding chefs. They worked with us on our menus and prepared everything to perfection.
I can't say enough about our trip. We hope to return some day.

We traveled with a group of 10 family members for a celebration. There was plenty of room for all of us to have our own space to retreat to when needed.
The house is exactly as pictured online but even better in person. The grounds are extremely private with a very short walk to the beach. The house is spacious and well kept. There were a couple very minor issues when we first arrived and they were fixed the very next day.
The staff were amazing. We strongly recommend the chef services as they did an amazing job and we didn’t have to worry about the meal shopping or prep.
Don’t hesitate, book this place now!

We had an incredible stay. The house had a great set up for a large group. The property manager was very responsive and the location can’t be beat. We enjoyed the beach + pool, and going into town to explore as well. We used the chef service and loved every meal! Highly recommend for anyone looking for relaxation and gorgeous views.

Leo’s place was perfect for our group of 7 adults and 1 one year old. We had plenty of room to hang out together while still having plenty of privacy. Sabine was very communicative and helped us arrange transportation to and from the airport as well as a chef who cooked us lunch and dinner each day. Simone and Juan made us amazing family style meals and took care all of the grocery shopping and clean up. The house keeper Yani also prepared us breakfast each morning and was super sweet and helpful. She was especially kind to our one year old. The location was perfect, only steps away from what felt like practically our own private beach. The community where the house is feels safe and the beautiful landscaping makes it feel very private. We will be back, 10/10 would recommend.

This large and well appointed property is well suited to a multigenerational family vacation. Our grandchildren age in range from 4 to 25 and they all had a great time. The staff came in every morning for breakfast and general cleanup. We had an arrival dinner cooked for us, but mostly we drove to the village for shopping and cooked for ourselves. Any house issues were quickly attended to by the property manager. From time to time you will have to apply normal mosquito management tactics. But it’s the tropics so you get the trade off living in paradise.

We'd been planning a major vacation for our entire family for a few years. Casa Coco checked all the boxes for us and the moment we arrived, it was clear that we chose the perfect place. The staff was excellent and all the additional services offered didn't disappoint even slightly. We had the chef service for 4 and a half days of our 8 day stay and we're very happy we did. I highly recommend the chef, but there are also restaurants nearby and a very convenient "Uber eats" - type of service that we used for pizza delivery. The beach access to beautiful Playa Coson was convenient for our family; not too close that we worried about children wandering there and not so far that it felt like a chore to walk there with little ones. The management team was at our beckon call the entire time and helped us feel safe and looked-after. I highly recommend Casa Coco.

Villa was in a great location just steps from Playa Coson – the BEST beach! Villa was spacious – lots of space for a large group to lounge and have private time if needed. Breakfast and cleaning staff were excellent! Friendly and helpful. Our chef Joey was amazing cooking up some traditional Dominican dishes. Fresh fish and seafood was abundant and Joey incorporated this into most meals. Sabine was a text away and helpful.
BUT…the villa is tired and needs a refresh on some basic but necessary items – appliances desperately need to be replaced (except fridge). Oven doesn’t work unless you light the propane with a napkin. You also have to stick a piece of napkin in the oven dial to ensure temperature stays steady (our chef had to show us this). Freezer is old and rusty, ice cube trays are all broken. Panini press is old and gave some pretty bad shocks to one of the guests who tried to use it. A replacement however was sent the next day when we notified Sabine. Coffee maker is also old and rusty and for a villa that accommodates 16 it’s very small. Should have at least two large coffee makers. BBQ is old, burners are inconsistent and only part of it works properly. The hot tub outside is lukewarm at best despite several attempts to ‘fix’ it, and the jets do not work. The shower in the bungalow barely gives out a trickle of water so those staying in there had to shower in another bathroom each time. Internet was hit and miss. Amenities in property description say that basic soaps, shampoo and paper towels were included, however none of these were provided. The property next door is under construction so be prepared to hear cement mixers and hammers banging until the afternoon. All in all, a pleasant stay but would recommend a villa refresh to fix the minor but annoying issues.
NOTE – SAFETY ALERT: Floor in and around pool and entrance to villa is extremely slippery when wet – EXTREME caution is needed. Be very careful when using pool or hot tub then walking on floors. We had an incident the required medical attention from slipping on the floor and there was no safety kit available – recommend villa have one on hand.

Travelled with 6 adults and 6 children under 7 years old. Perfect amount of space for our group. Communal areas were superb while still maintaining private places to go for quiet time. The pool and hot tub were clean and gorgeous and perfect temperature for adults and kids alike. Beach was only a couple minutes away, very quiet and private. The bedrooms were immaculate and unique! We all had such an amazing time! Sabine was incredible and helped us arrange nannies and excursions and a rental car. She was very quick to answer questions and help in any way she could. She put us in touch with an incredible private chef named Joey. Her food was out of this world and honestly, made the trip so special. Dinners out at the gazebo with chirping geckos we're a blast. The best vacation I've ever had and I did not hear a single complaint from anyone in our group. 10/10
The only recommendation I would have is to be prepared for the mosquitoes. The neighborhood is surrounded with dense jungle and lots of standing water. We were all bit a lot despite the use of bug spray.
Thank you so much to Leo for sharing your home! Big thanks to Sabine for going above and beyond for our group/family. Shout out to Joey and her amazing skills in the kitchen. Our cleaning staff was incredible, cooked amazing full English breakfast every morning and did such a great job cleaning up after all the messy toddlers!
We can't wait to plan a trip back!

We had a great time at Casa Coco. The house had everything our family needed to be comfortable, and the staff was friendly and very helpful. The location is excellent as the beach, which is beautiful, is a short walk away.

Incredible spot to stay, walking distance to beach and Coson Bay Resort where our team raced in the Xterra Trail Run Sept 2022. Sabine was incredibly kind and accessible all weekend and we were blown away by the beauty of the place. Our medium sized bus was able to park in driveway as well. Highly recommend, esp for beach access or Coson Bay events.

Fun stay with some issues
We arrived July 9th and were met at the house by Sabine who quickly ran thru the basics of things and left. The main chef who we had planned to work with the duration of the stay was there and prepared us one truly special meal, then left and never returned- instead leaving us with another very nice chef who spoke approximately zero English- which was fine but the food all week was very basic and nowhere near expectations- tacos, chicken and rice and other simple dishes we could communicate on. The house itself has a great layout, and we spent the majority of the week around the pool. The hot tub didn’t work for the majority of the trip, there were no beach chairs or amenities if you want to go across the street to the beach, so be aware. The mosquitos at this location warrant a warning- because of the open air nature of the house on the lower level you need to be extremely aware going in that all bedroom doors should always stay shut- that you need to bring the strongest spray you have and if you’re really smart bring the big mosquito incense sticks you can put around the patio area to keep them away- we did this and it helped tremendously. My kids were eaten alive- in particular my oldest son left the property looking like he had full body hives from head to toe. The location was good for getting downtown. We do not recommend the massage people- the two husbands had them on our last day and it was not a great experience at all, one of the women talked on her cell phone during the massage and the other had a machete next to the table (?). The gazebo was a great hang out spot and we played cards in there nightly, the super strong fans in the gazebo and over the swinging daybed were life savers for comfort. The guesthouse by the pool was adorable and very comfortable for the teens that stayed there. The property cute and simple and the pool area is its best feature.

Exceptionnel !
Magnifique villa spacieuse!

Dommage.

Amazing time!
We had a really great time at Casa Coco. The house was great and the beach was beautiful. We hired the chef and loved every meal! We had 5 kids and 9 adults...plenty of room for all of us. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt very secluded and private in our home/pool area. The beach is extremely close and has easy access.
One thing to make sure of is that you have bug spray. The only negative we had was the amount of mosquitoes!
Would definitely recommend this property!

Quiet place in Paradise
Very secure community in a gorgeous beach. The staff very friendly and helpful, impeccable cleaning service. The chef service was the best and the food delicious. Absolutely nothing negative to say.

The Casa Coco house was perfect for our family of 15, beautiful setting and location
The layout of the house, the staff, the pool and the chef we hired to cook dinners for our family were fabulous. The proximity to the Coson Bay beach made our stay there awesome! We would definitely recommend the Casa Coco house for anyone staying in the Las Terrenas Las Nomados area of the Dominican Republic.

Perfection!
Where do I even begin? From start to finish, our experience at Casa Coco was off the charts awesome. Working with Leo and the house manager was seamless from when I first made contact about renting the house to when we left for the airport to come home. We were a group of 8 adults and a baby and we had more than enough space in the house. Casa Coco is beautiful, extremely well appointed, and has everything you need for a relaxing and special week. The house is very private and in a lovely gated community. We felt very safe and secure throughout our stay. Having the wonderful housekeepers there made us feel like we really were on an amazing break from it all. Town is just a short 10-15 minute ride away and the local house manager arranged for a taxi for us to go in for dinner which worked out extremely well. As for the proximity to the beach - it truly is a short (less than 5 minute) walk. And the beach was spectacular. I was with a group of self-professed "beach snobs" and we all agreed that this was one of the most beautiful beaches we had ever seen. Private, lovely, warm waters, soft sand - truly a piece of paradise. Having access to the hotel next door and their beach chairs was such a nice bonus. All you have to do is grab a towel, your sunscreen, a book and you are ready to relax. From the people to the place, this was a perfect vacation. We feel lucky to have found Casa Coco and can't wait to go back!!!

Best Vacation Ever!
I have travelled all over the Carribbean and to two other villas in Las Terrenas, and this one really blew me away. Usually you have to pay through the nose to be right on the beach (double what this villa cost), or be far away from the beach. But here you have the best of all worlds: so close to the beach, safe and secure, privacy at the villa thanks to a lovely tropical garden, and a house that is functional, tasteful, and huge, and with really great service. The pictures don’t even come close to doing it justice (recommendation to owner: update your pictures!) We had 3 families staying comfortably. The service is top notch and the owner’s manager helped us arrange everything we needed ahead of time: car rental, activities, and so on. The hotel next door is a real plus. There were hardly any guests there, so it felt like we owned the place. The bartenders became our friends, and we spent many hours in their huge pool and beach chairs sipping coconuts cut from the trees. This is a truly unique villa with such nice service touches – for instance, most villas in the area make you buy your own bottled water, which is very cheap but a hassle to get. At this villa, they had 10 bottles on hand, and they were magically resupplied when we used the last of them.
Oh, and the beach. THE BEACH! It stretches in a gentle curve, lined with palm trees and with mountains in background. There are so few people, and the waves are gentle and safe for the kids (ages between 4 and 10). I really can’t say enough about this beach. Truly amazing. We also learned to surf at the “surf school” (really just two guys with a shack and some boards) at the nearby Restaurant Luis, which is also highly recommended.
Las Terrenas town is close by, but not too close. We went in to town a few times for dinner and shopping, but mostly we hired chefs to cook dinner at the house, which is highly recommended. Also recommended: buying fish right on the beach in town from the local fishermen. The only criticism I have is that the air conditioning required some switch to be set, so we had to ask the housekeeper to do something before it worked. I would suggest that they make sure the switch is on before the guests arrive. But this is a small thing. Overall, we had the best vacation ever, and we will definitely be back.
