The place was just as beautiful as the pictures state. The staff were friendly and all of the surroundings clean. The bed was comfortable and air condition was working well. The breakfast was tasty and fresh. Coffee tasted amazing! Room had good lighting and in the bathroom there was warm water and even an European electricity socket (not common in the DR).
The sounds from the nearby road were a bit noisy, but understandable because of the location. It was still much more calm than other parts of Las Terrenas. Could be fixed with ear plugs though!

We originally booked 4 nights and left after one due to the poor isolation of the rooms. The hotel is located on a very noisy road (cars, bikes but also trucks going on the many construction sites in Las terrenas and honking no matter what the hour is). In addition, the generator started in the middle of the night, keeping us awake for a considerable amount of time (imagine a lawnmower in your room). As a result, we slept approximately 2hours and decided to leave at the first possible occasion. These were the last nights we were spending in Dominican Republic and did not wanted to suffer sleep deprivation before going back to our country (holidays are meant to rest, aren’t they?). We left for another hotel (Casa colibri), indeed a bit more expensive but directly on the beach (in comparison to balata that is far away from the restaurants and beach) and in a very calm area. Note that it is not possible to cook at Balata, and there are no restaurant in or near the hotel. We paid 3 nights for nothing but were really not keen to reiterate the experience of the first night. When we announced that we were leaving, the staff did not really seem to care

location and clean
the noise and the light in the room makes you wake up very early, not a place to rest, but for a quick long and fun weekend, is the perfect place

Lovely family-run boutique hotel, spotlessly clean, nice pool & gardens, serving the most wonderful breakfast! Melanie was very helpful in providing advice and helping us organise an excursion.
Only downside was it was a good 20-30 mins walk to restaurants, so ended up driving to eat out
8.0
Friendly and helpful staff, nice rustic decor, lovely swimming pool, good breakfast.
The distance from the town centre (20 minutes walking), though not problematic during the day. The room/WC would benefit from some hooks on the walls/doors to hang clothes/towels.
7.0
the general look
cool pool
drinking water available
nice common rooms
private safe parking
high drink prices
bad curtains
no closets for clothes
the shotgun security man wasn’t friendly
no fridge in the room
little to no atmosphere due to bar always being closed
too small double beds

The common areas are beautiful and the place were clean.
They should include at least a mini refrigerator inside of the room.

Top comfort, cozy, beautiful surroundings.
The location is a bit off the central area. But we had a car. The breakfast could be improved, or better included in the price because the price is a bit high for the overall quality. Also, the 2nd day was a bit noisy.

Bathroom didn't feel clean

I like how clean and comfortable is.
I felt somehow uncomfortable with a big dog they have.

The staff was nice, the quiet location, the pool is cool
We had a back room which was very small so we couldn't leave the suitcase open and there is no glass windows so you heard everyrhing and its noisy back there

the location was wonderful it was quiet and peaceful
the only thing was that they charge for air-conditioner which was a little bizarre for me. they should tell people when booking that there is a fee for using the air conditioner

This beautiful place was spotless! I've rarely been to a place that kept the room and grounds so clean. What I especially loved was the (interior) design and decor of the place. Everywhere you looked it was just so pretty! The room was spacious and beautiful. We only used the ceiling fan and that was more than enough. Breakfast was also delicious!
This is more on me than on the hotel but I was under the impression that it would be more secluded and that there would be more nature surrounding the hotel. However it was right on the road. Luckily at night it gets very quiet and ultimately the location is great and central.
8.0
Breakfast, cleanliness, the decoration style, the pool, the friendly pets (3 cats and two dogs), mopeds to rent, cleaning staff were excellent (thank you!), water dispensers everywhere.
We extended for a night and overall had a great time.
You will be expected to pay a 4% fee on top of the total price because they dont have a card machine. You pay via a mobile link. This is really poor given lots of other people appear to have complained about this too in the past and it's just not normal. Of course you can pay with cash but there's no free to use atms in the DR.
The road is very busy and loud.
