Guests loved the peaceful surroundings, clean cabin, beautiful views, and fenced yard for dogs. They enjoyed sunsets, outdoor fireplace, and the welcoming hosts. A perfect getaway!

Pulling down the long driveway, passing open fields, looking at the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains we knew immediately we picked the right spot. We just sold our house in CT and are in the process of moving to NC. We needed a peaceful place to stay as we wait for our house to be completed. We stayed for 12 nights and would have stayed longer if there was availability.
We brought our two dogs and the fenced in yard was perfect! Waking up to the cows near the fence was such a neat experience for the dogs. Check in was quick and easy. The cabin had everything we needed to cook dinners. WiFi worked well which was great to get schoolwork done. The sunsets were incredible!
We will be back next time we need a private getaway!

Windymile Cabin is absolutely wonderful! The view from the cabin is one of the best in Rockbridge County— both Big and Little House Mountains, North Mountain, and Jump Mountain stretch out across the horizon. The sunsets and stars at night are amazing. The cabin itself is very clean and comfortable, and the kitchen is well-appointed. My husband and I spent a week working at the kitchen table (internet and Verizon reception great!) throughout the day and then adventuring around the county with our dogs in the late afternoons. The hosts—Audrey and Dave—are so responsive and accommodating. We extended our stay twice because we could not bear to leave, and we will most definitely return! Thank you to the Johnstons for creating such a beautiful retreat!

Audrey and David's cabin is in a beautiful spot, quiet and natural for a restful stay. Perfect for us and our Great Pyr. Loved the reassurance of a fenced space even though we keep him on lead. Audrey made a point of meeting us when our arrival was delayed and everything was great!

We booked this property with our pet for a 2 weeknight stay in July. The property is well manicured, clean, and has a nice view. During the booking process the advertised price after fees nearly tripled. Though cleaning and linen fees are charged the renter is required to hall off all trash and make and strip beds. The home provided no Kleenex, paper towels, and had less than 1/2 roll of toilet paper upon arrival. The thermostat will only go down to 72 degrees which wasn't a problem for us might be for some.
The home has a really nice view from the porch especially in the morning and very late evening. The afternoon sun comes in on the front porch so if you are looking for porch time the early bird gets the worm here. The afternoon sun made the porch an unpleasant place in the afternoon on a couple hot days in July.

The cabin was on beautiful farmland. It was so quiet and relaxing. The walking trails nearby were some of the best I've seen. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away.

This property is SO peaceful - we highly recommend it. Check-in was easy and the cabin is cozy, clean and well-equipped. But I have to say that the most amazing thing is the view! A beautiful vista of mountains and farmland. There was always a soft breeze blowing as we sat in the shade of the nearby trees. Our dog loved the fenced yard and the nearby cows. Practically speaking, it provides easy access to downtown Lexington (20 minutes), via a super fun and curvy country road! We hope to visit again!

Everything about this home and property are beyond expectation! Don’t let the price fool you. If you are into peace n tranquility w star gazing, Mountain View’s for miles, fun cows and an outdoor fireplace w fenced yard for your fur baby, look no further. I am not a napper but I was so relaxed I took 2 in 5 days. There is nothing I can say negative - Audrey was amazing. So sweet n welcomed my wife n I with open arms. I encourage single females, families and the LGBTQ fam who need a recharging space. If you r partiers or smokers this is not for you. If you are into star gazing, look no further. A truly magical space n close to everything. We visited Natural Bridge and Animal Safari. Plenty of breweries n wineries abound. Lazy Acres horse ranch close by for weddings or family reunions. Cannot tell u how good the naps were. I’m type A n that says a lot. Do everything or nothing but bring the s’mores fixings. That fireplace makes for great sunset photos! Took my 15.5 yr old dog as his last hurrah. He ran for the 1st time in years. The photos n videos of him will b cherished. Thank u Audrey. He loved your scratches. I will b back fer sure. It may become an annual retreat.

I surprised my husband with a 5 day stay at Windymile Cabin to experience a taste of country life. The cabin was perfect, nice & cozy, and very relaxing. The biggest surprise was picking up our two 8-week-old puppies! We were able to bring them to the cabin to bond with them before our long trip home. The puppies could run around and see cows, birds, and enjoy the outstanding sunsets. We can’t wait to return to Windymile Cabin in the near future!

My wife and I were excited to make some minute arrangements for our long drive home. Audrey was very accommodating and easy to work with! The cabin was the perfect stop for our drive down 81 and was a haven to our dog. We loved the views and the outdoor fireplace and enjoyed the scenic drive into Lexington for dinner. Would love to come back!

This is my second stay at this cabin and will not be my last! The cabin was spotless, it has everything I needed, it is secluded with beautiful mountain views and has a great fenced in big yard, which my dog loves. It also has a beautiful stone fire pit and Audrey, the host, is perfect in every way, extremely friendly, if you need anything or need to get in touch with her, etc. My dog and I love it here!

This worked well for us to both relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and to enjoy the grayer Lexington area. Audrey is a great host, very responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Property has enjoyable panoramic views with sunset. The fenced in yard was wonderful for our cocker spaniel. Cabin was very clean & kitchen well stocked for basic cooking. WiFi and cable TV work well. A drive to Lexington and other nearby attractions was doable and scenery lovely.

We loved the scenery and peacefulness of this cabin. It was located close to attractions and also within an hour drive to Monticello and Michie’s Tavern, which we thoroughly enjoyed visiting. The fenced yard in yard was a truly nice added feature. Our cattle dog could relax outdoors with us without being leashed.

Beautiful property and beautiful view. It was a very peaceful weekend.
