About this house rental
We've renovated our mid-century church into a spacious and comfortable vacation rental. The Chapel on Waight exemplifies all that we love about Beaufort –laid back yet luxe, close to everything but still quiet, and central: the Chapel is a few blocks from the Beaufort River on a tree-lined street in a quiet residential neighborhood. Walk or ride our beach cruisers into town past beautiful antebellum mansions along beautiful waterfront Bay street. The Chapel is less than a mile from the downtown waterfront park- the center of everything -cafes, shops, wonderful restaurants, bars and our amazing historical district. 4 short blocks in the other direction puts you on the Spanish Moss Trail, perfect for walking, running, and biking.
If you're in town for a Marine Graduation, an easy 6 mile drive down Ribaut road puts you at the gates of Parris Island. We are 17 miles from beautiful Hunting Island State park and provide our guests with a free pass, beach chairs, beach towels, body boards, beach toys and a beach umbrella. An hour south and you are in downtown Savannah, an hour and a half north puts you in beautiful Charleston. Beaufort is the perfect hub for day tripping!
The building was a church, so the main room is large, open and airy-lots of light filters through the original pebbled glass windows. It's laid out as follows:
THE MAIN ROOM is comprised of the Living/Dining/Kitchen areas, all open to each other and perfect for hanging out together. The dining area seats 6, a counter level bar seats 2, there is a a widescreen 42"LG Smart TV and high speed internet. Through the smart TV , you can stream all your subscription channels and watch most basic networks.
KITCHEN : fully stocked, open and easy to maintain stainless steel countertops and appliances, coffee and tea bar, new cookware, utensils, dishwasher, a toaster, blender, and microwave... everything you need to cook full meals at home.
THE KING BEDROOM : The King Bedroom is spacious, decorated with original watercolors, has very comfortable high quality linens, towels, a large on-suite bath with jetted tub and private access to a screened porch.
THE QUEEN BEDROOM: generously sized, with a semi-private curtained-off sleeping nook with a single bed for an additional guest or child. The Queen room also has an en-suite bathroom and private access onto the side screened porch.
FOURTH BED is a comfortable living living room sofa that sleeps one. All linens are provided.
LAUNDRY ROOM : Guests have access to washer, dryer, laundry supplies, iron, and ironing board.
BACK YARD: Our private, latticed back patio is landscaped with tropical plants and features a seating/dining area, cafe lights, and a charcoal grill. Charcoal and grilling utensils are provided.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Labor Day weekend stay at the Chapel. Susanna was a wonderful host. The house and property were lovely, and Beaufort is a gem.

Was perfect for our time in Beaufort. We took very pleasant walks into town for breakfast in the morning. Enjoyed Hunting State Park beach, a very picturesque drive from the house. House was what we needed also. I like outside so 2 porches and the big front yard were real nice. Inside was roomy for the 3 of us and our dogs.

Absolute perfect spot if you want to spend time in Beaufort area. House is very clean, and a unique layout and setting. Very open floor plan. A few minutes drive to downtown or short bike ride we really enjoyed returning here each evening with 4 adults. Plenty of room, kitchen is large so easy to prepare breakfast or lunch. Will stay again

This home was fantastic. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left it felt as if we lived there. The owners have thought of everything. From bikes to soap all was there. The owner communicated with us and left a book with tips about the area. I would highly recommend this home.

This property was great for traveling with my husband, sister, niece and basset hound. The house had everything we needed to make all our meals and relax. I appreciated to Hunting Beach pass and all the beach gear in the house. The beds are comfortable, the showers are hot with great water pressure, and the air conditioning works perfect. You can easily get to numerous attractions. I would definitely stay at the chapel again if we return to the area.

Home was very well appointed and the backporch during the thunderstorms felt like you were in jungle. Very walkable neighborhoods to downtown and the beach drive was not too long. Everything was super!

We had a lovely stay at the chapel house. It was bright and spacious and had everything we needed. The inside is comfortably furnished and the outside space is very nice with fences and a screened porch which was appreciated while traveling with a toddler. I was able to easily walk downtown daily from the property. There were many small but very hospitable touches throughout. While we didn't travel with our dogs, we are pet owners and lovers and the property was also so welcoming for pets as well, and set up for them to succeed in a new environment. The hosts were helpful, friendly, and available. I would 100% stay here again.

Very clean and comfortable home, used for day trips north and south. Beaufort has changed in the years since last visited. Lots to do, or relax.

We had such a great stay at the Chapel on Waight! The location is perfect for walking to dinner in Beaufort but also convenient for biking the Spanish Moss Trail. The house itself offers everything you need for a comfortable stay — we didn’t cook meals but the kitchen was well stocked and things were easy to find. There were lots of little extras that made our stay so enjoyable, like the pass to Hunting Island that we used for a day trip. The hosts were very responsive (although we didn’t need much because everything was provided!) and made our rental experience very easy.

My husband and I had a great time during our stay. Wish the weather could have been better but what can you expect just before the New Year. The home is so charming and loved the touches of a nice snack basket and some drinks in the refrigerator. Super convenient location and the bikes and Hunting Island park passes are such a nice bonus for guests staying in the home. We have just decided to buy a second home in Beaufort but loved our stay.

My sister, my best friend and I stayed at The Chapel on Waight in mid November and had a wonderful time. The house is beautifully and comfortably furnished and provided so many extras that were appreciated. The location is great, so close to many attractions in Beaufort and surrounding areas. We did many day trips exploring ruins, the low country, walking beaches, as well as visiting Savannah and Charleston for the day. Beaufort was so beautiful with all the live oaks and Spanish moss draped trees. I would definitely come back!

My aunt, her little dog and I, love to take short trips together and The Chapel was a great alternative to a shared hotel room. We each had our own room and bath and her little dog loved running around the house! The bed in the smaller room (which by no means is small) provided me with four nights of the most comfortable sleep ever!!! The proximity to downtown Beaufort was convenient and the short drive took us right to the beautiful waterfront. The sunsets were stunning.

As previous residents of Beaufort, we were very familiar with the area. We were looking for a pet friendly place near downtown as our purpose was to go to Water Festival events and spend time with friends. This VRBO met those requirements. Owner had many amenities in the VRBO that other places did not and was open to suggestions.

This was our first visit to Beaufort and we loved it. House was convenient to everything we wanted to do.

The home was well appointed and the beds extremely comfortable. The owners have a unique and interesting background which is well represented in several pieces of framed art and a furniture piece; that’s all I’ve got to say about that. We thoroughly enjoyed walking along the elevated boardwalk through the Port Royal Cyprus Wetlands bird rookery. Our drive through Hunting Island seaside State Park was spectacular given the diverse subtropical vegetation. Providing an annual entrance pass for guests use was an unexpected but greatly appreciated gesture. We lodged at this property primarily due to its proximity to Bluefield Shooting Club in Jacksonboro Co. However its proximity to Beaufort, St. Helena Island and Port Royal permitted us to enjoy the area’s beauty and take in much over a short period of time.

We loved this property! If we return to Beaufort, we would love to reserve it for another stay. The house is adorable and well-appointed. The hosts are very easy to work with and responded to all communications in a timely fashion. Very pet friendly with pet supplies and a fenced in area. It was great for the three of us that stayed and also to host other members of our family for dinner who were staying at another property. Very comfortable and perfect for us and our sweet puppy!

We absolutely loved staying at the Chapel on Waight. The West End neighborhood ended up being our favorite in Beaufort. Quiet and residential but in walking distance to downtown and the Spanish Moss Trail. Perfect location! We also loved the Chapel which was very comfortable for my husband and I and our small dog. We worked remotely and the wifi was strong during our entire 2 week stay. We would definitely stay at The Chapel again! Thank you!

We had a fabulous time in Beaufort and surrounding locations. The Chapel on Waight” was a gem of a retreat….fully stocked with all the necessities and more! It was perfect for me, my hubby, our daughter and our furry family member. Great location. Only a few blocks from beautiful downtown Beaufort (great shopping), a short drive to awesome sea isles/beaches (Hunting Island is a paradise) and we were even able to take some nice day trips to Charleston, Savannah, Hilton Head and more! Susanna and Jim were excellent and gracious hosts. They answered all questions and addressed any issues/needs promptly and without any disruption. From the homey decor, to the open, spacious layout to the festive-lit patio and screened porch….this house provided it all. Can’t say enough good things! We would absolutely return to this charming “chapel” house and highly recommend it to anyone seeking the perfect Beaufort area retreat.

Wonderful Historic Home
Loved our stay at this home in Beaufort. It was within walking distance of downtown Beaufort and an easy drive to Port Royal. We stayed with our dog Henry, and it was perfect for him and us. Great kitchen and bedrooms. We loved the screen porch although it was mostly too chilly to use, the backyard was lovely. We just loved the house and look forward to returning. Thanks.

Beautiful home, ideal location
There are so many wonderful features in this converted chapel home. The little bed nook was a life saver when mid-trip one of our party members picked up a sleep-ruining cough - allowing them to be in the room but still separate so everyone could get sleep, and would be perfect for any family with a smaller child. The tub was an amazing way to relax after a long night, and the screened in porch was ideal for breakfasts - easily cooked in the generously provided kitchen - mixer, pans, whatever I wanted to cook with, I could find. The drawers are even neatly labeled.
The back patio with a grill was such a cute hang-out, with color changing lights and and a covered table.
I was thrilled with the proximity to both Beaufort historic downtown and to the Spanish moss biking trail. We enjoyed biking both sides of the trail. The provided bikes were in good repair, and safety equipment was provided, too!
We genuinely loved this location and will likely visit again in the future. we were visiting for history research, but jt felt like a little honeymoon.

Our new “Happy Place”
The Chapel on Waight is the perfect spot for us and our 2 dogs. It is centrally located and convenient to all the main streets that connect everything around Beaufort. We enjoy the private courtyard for an afternoon cocktail and fun times with the dogs. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. Susanna and Jim are great hosts and have thought of everything to make you feel welcome. It has become our new “Happy Place” when away from home.
