About this cottage rental

'Unforgettable' beach cottage is a beautifully decorated and updated 4 bedroom 2 bath house. We are located on the desirable west end of the island only four houses back from ocean front! You can see the beach access from our cottage. It is shown in one of our pictures taken from our cottage. It is not so crowded here on the west end. We are not near the crowded pier area where all the people come from town to park and go to the beach. We have just completed our new high rise deck with wonderful views of the ocean, sunset and sunrise. We have also added a gate with a lock on it for safety. We have one of the few cottages that has a paved driveway which is great for the kids feet! We have a large area under cottage to relax in the chairs or for kids to run around. Our cottage has high end furniture, designer bedding and quality mattresses to make sure you wake up feeling great after a good night sleep. The kitchen is fully stocked so that you can prepare quick snacks for the beach or a gourmet meal. There are ceiling fans throughout to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Each bedroom has its own TV and DVR and there is also a TV and DVR in the den area. If you prefer to be outside, you can enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise on our screened front porch, complete with rocking chairs and picnic table, or have a cold drink and watch the sunset off the back deck.

Outside we have a large shower and changing area, two picnic tables, paved driveway, a fenced back yard and gas grill.

This beach rental allows you to check in Sunday and depart Sunday. We think this really helps with all the traffic on the highway and it is not so crowed at the grocery stores. It also gives you a day to pack if you work. We hope this will work for you.

Sunset Beach is located on the southernmost barrier island on the North Carolina coastline. It is a peaceful three mile long island with wide powdery white sand beaches that is unspoiled by commercial development. Sunset Beach is widely viewed as one of the cleanest, family oriented beaches on the east coast. Its white sandy beaches are a great place to sunbathe, walk, ride a bike, jog or just sit and relax while watching the boats and the dolphins come and go. Bird Island is also located on the west end of the island. Bird Island is a pristine, undeveloped 1300 acre state preserve that is home to loggerhead turtles and the Purple Sandpiper found only on Bird Island. This end of the beach is very spacious, quiet and peaceful and provides absolutely stunning unobstructed views of the ocean, marsh and the beautiful sunsets for which Sunset is known.

Sunset is centrally located providing easy access to Calabash, 'The Seafood Capital of the World', just two miles away, where you can feast on the local seafood, buy fresh shrimp off of one of the shrimp boats or charter a boat and catch your own dinner. North Myrtle Beach is just 15 miles away, Myrtle Beach 25 miles away and historic Wilmington is approximately 45 miles away. You can catch a world class show in one of the many theaters in Myrtle Beach or you can tour a battleship in Wilmington. For the shopper there are endless opportunities including Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach and two Tanger Outlet centers. If golfing is your thing the area is also considered the 'Golf Capital of the World'. Sea Trail, The Thistle, Lions Paw, Tigers Eye, Panthers Run, Crow Creek, Oyster Bay, The Pearl and Sandpiper are just some of the courses within 15 minutes of Sunset Beach.

The Place to Stay at Sunset Beach

Although this is an older property it has been taken well care of. This was our second time staying here. It is easy to get to and very easy to get to the beach. The outdoor shower is a big plus with children. There is plenty of parking. You won't find a better value for a beach stay.

Great location, owner clearly made a big effort to make this place cute however, the kitchen was not clean - at all. I am generous in giving his house a 3 star rating for cleanliness. There were no towels or linens provided which presents a big problem when you are traveling across the US.

Our trip was exactly what my family and I needed to get through a very difficult time in our life. Tonya was absolutely phenomenal in communication and always there to help if needed! We enjoyed everything about this property, my 4 children had the time of their lives and we had 5 very nice days of sunshine. The sunsets from the tower were always amazing! And the outdoor shower after a long day on the beach was exactly what we needed! Tonya is wonderful and we will definitely be renting from her again. ❤️ Thank you so much! Always Liz :)

Sunset Beach has definitely become a family favorite and the Unforgettable beach cottage was a perfect place to stay. The cottage is nicely decorated, well equipped, and very clean and comfortable. Love the location and close proximately to the beach access. The beach itself is beautiful. Very flat and wide during low tide with soft powdery sand. Love the tide pools! The owner was always quick to respond to any of our questions and offered suggestions to help make our stay “unforgettable”. Thank you Tonya for sharing your beach cottage for others to enjoy! Definitely hope to return for another visit.

The whole stay was amazing. The property owners were amazing at communicating with us everything we needed to know and also fulfilling our request when we needed a new propane tank. They were more than willing to provide assistance when we needed it. The place was amazing and clean and perfect for our family. Only a short walk to the beach as well. We loved it and will be back next year!!!

We were impressed by the cleanliness of this cozy cottage upon arrival. The proximity to the beach access was wonderful. The boardwalk is great over the dunes, and the tide pools by the ocean are awesome for the little ones. We enjoyed walking all the way to the end of Bird Island from here, rocking on the front screened porch, and taking in the sunset from the upper deck. This cottage is a great place to relax after a day on the beach. The couches were comfortable, and we had good times around the table eating and playing. The kitchen was just right for making breakfast, lunch, and the occasional dinner. Tonya was great to work with. Thank you for sharing your beach cottage with us!

We were 6, 4 adults & 2 young kids and Unforgettable was an ideal place for us all. Easy walk to the beach, great views from the rooftop deck, comfortable outdoor dining on the screened in porch and an extremely cozy and beachy interior that is very tastefully done. This house was perfect for our long weekend stay. We enjoyed the close proximity to the beach, comfy couches, rooftop deck for viewing sunsets, screened porch for drinking coffee and the storage for our bikes and beach toys under the house. Our family really enjoyed this house! Plenty of room for everyone, great screen porch for sitting and meals and comfy beds. We also love the west end of the island and the beach access is just a very short walk. The owners are responsive and really nice folks!

Clean and suited our needs

This home is good for a small family to spend a week at the beach. We were pleased to find that the kitchen had been updated and included a dishwasher as well as new fridge and stove/oven. The sink was also a very nice farmhouse style sink and the counter space was accommodating. The living room has very comfortable furniture to lie around on after you exhaust yourself at the beach. One thing I want to highlight about this place is that it was very clean and I have high standards regarding cleanliness. Whomever cleans this place knows how to clean! The decor is pretty and not cluttered, which I appreciated. It also has a very nice screened front porch with rocking chairs and a picnic table. There is an awesome rooftop sitting area where you can see the ocean and look over the pretty view of colorful Sunset beach. I would tell you that you need to be able to go up and down stairs. The area under the house is great for covering your vehicles as well as bicycles and kayaks but make sure you bring locks. We enjoyed it.

So many wonderful things to say about this rental!

There are many wonderful things to say about this rental! The house was very clean and well maintained. The short walk (basically across the street) to the beautiful boardwalk lined with greenery, flowers, and blackberries was a beautiful beginning and then ended at the beach. Walking to our right, there were sand dunes on one side and beach on the other. We were able to drive to restaurants once a day and cook as needed for the other meals. We found ourselves mostly hanging around the house with its screened in porch, high roost bench to view the beach, and plenty of table space underneath for dining outside in the rain if needed :) Tonya was very helpful with any questions we had and quickly responded as needed. We hope to return for more family time together in the years to come.
