About this house rental

Escape to Sunset Beach. Only a 3 day minimum with a great rate for that weekend getaway during Winter and early Spring.! The "Escape" is an Oceanfront home on the east end of Sunset Beach. This traditional 4 Bedroom and 2 1/2 Bath cottage is warm and inviting and it offers additional features including: cathedral ceiling in the open concept living and kitchen space, five televisions, high-speed wireless internet. You will enjoy the renovated cobalt blue kitchen and all it has to offer including granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. We have Kuerig and a Mr. Coffee drip style coffee makers available. From the kitchen and living room, you have direct vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. There isn’t a bad view from the oceanfront home. The kitchen has a large open island that is suitable for dining and is lined with 4 to 5 bar stools. Additionally, the dining space has a table large enough for the entire family to gather around and enjoy your meals together. The dining table seats eight people.
Stainless gas grill along side of our charcoal grill so you can create nice family dinners without going out. Take care a long walk or bike rides to the Kindred Spirit Mail Box 1.4 miles from beach access end of West Main. This mysterious mailbox is the inspiration behind Nicholas Sparks' latest novel Every Breath. Sunset Beach and the Kindred Spirit Mailbox is featured heavily in the novel.

Each side of the home is flanked with two bedrooms and 1 bathroom for a total of 4 bedrooms and 2 baths plus a common ½ bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have ocean views with King Size beds. The remaining two bedrooms have two twin beds each and are located on the backside of the house, on the street side. All beds will be made with fresh linens and bath towel sets for a total of 8 guests upon arrival. Don’t forget to pack your beach towels! You are also equipped with a starter kit of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap and dish detergent. The washer and dryer are located on the ground level of the home but are easily accessed. On the ocean side and street side, the home is anchored with covered porches. On the Oceanside of the home you will be able to relax in the covered porch overlooking the ocean or step out onto the sundeck with built-in benches and take in the warm sun. The Oceanside porch features a picnic table and an enclosed outside shower for outdoor island living.
The “Escape” is located just two houses away from the beach access which is located near 14th Street. This home does not allow pets and smoking is absolutely not permitted in the home or on the property. Maximum occupancy is 8 people. Parking is available for 4-6 cars, depending on size.

Great location. Short walk to the beach access. Loved the screened porch and sun deck overlooking the dunes! Beautiful kitchen and large open floor plan! Could use a little bit of a refresh with decor and flooring. Bedrooms get a little stuffy with doors closed,ceiling fans would be helpful, but box fans were available to use. Overall very nice! Would definitely stay again!

This is the fifth time we have stayed at the Escape. The place is roomy enough for our family of seven plus one grandchild to be very comfortable. Pat is a very attentive host. We can hardly wait to return next year

Not only is Sunset Beach family oriented, so is this property! Very "child" friendly. Had a wonderful screened in front and back porch. The "grandkids" loved running from one end to the other while the adults could sit back and watch. Great proximity to the beach. The house had plenty of room for 5 adults and 2 children. Great accomodiations!!! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It was a pleasure meeting Pat Haynes! Was nice to put a face to the owner! :-)

We stayed with 3 other couples...so 4 couples...all friends! Spent lots of time on the beach, great meals cooked in the well-stocked kitchen and outside on the grill. Loved the spacious dining room table with enough chairs for dinner and mexican train afterwards! Enjoyed the rockers on the outside screened in porch and loved the outdoor shower! A fabulous week with lots of great memories made! Great place, very comfortable, and affordable!

Our adult sibling group have enjoyed staying at this property for the last 3 years! Half of our family group live a couple blocks away, but it is great to have this location right on the beach for bathroom breaks and rests. The Host has been very responsive to any comments we have about the property needs and changes. It has been a blessing to find this location year after year! The accommodations are great and very comfortable.

Great location. Fire pit was great when it wasn’t to windy. Table shows 8 chairs in picture but there are now only 6 so if you have 8 people there aren’t enough seats. Furniture is outdated and not very comfortable. Friends stayed next door and price was the same but their house was much more updated and clean. Closet that has vacuum and broom smells like cat urine. Positives are the screened in back deck so you can listen to the ocean even if it’s raining or windy. The kitchen is amazing with the large island.

This place was immaculate. We came to Sunset to have a short break from the real world. This place was more than we expected. Pat was easy to speak to and had open communication with us the whole time. Everything you need for a getaway was included. Brand new grill fully stocked kitchen and easy checkout instructions. This was the best vacation ever. The location was perfect. The house was clean and well maintained. The owner was easy to communicate with. Our family (2 parents, 4 kids, and 2 grandparents) had an excellent time. The only downfall is the property is booked out far in advance, which tells of how wonderful this property is.

This is an amazing place to spend time at Sunset Beach. We sat around the fire one night, listening to the ocean. The back deck gave us a view of the ocean, which I miss already! I ate, read and just spent time with my family star gazing. We have rented this house before and each time there are improvements. The owners are easy to talk to and responsive. Pat and his lovely wife go out of their way to make sure you will enjoy your vacation to the fullest. It felt like renting from friends who truly care about your stay. We will definitely book again.

This is a comfortable home in a great location with a beautiful view of the ocean on a quiet street. Our party of eight enjoyed meals around the large dining table, reading on the back porch, and outdoor showers. With the beach so very close, we were able to go back and forth multiple times a day to accommodate different preferences and needs. Owner communication was excellent and he personally came to replace the dishwasher within 24 hours of being notified that the appliance had broken. We would have loved to return in 2024, but the property is already booked.

We did have an infestation of big black water roaches. One was even in a bed. I own a home at OIB, so I know they can be difficult to eradicate. We loved the home and the bed was wonderful. Needs some thorough cleaning...light fixtures and fans and woodwork.

This was our first time at Sunset Beach and we could not have been happier with the location. The dunes provided privacy from the beach when we were on the back porch, but you could still see the water and hear the waves. The layout of the house was perfect for our group with each family getting 2 bedrooms & 1 bathroom on each side of the house. We also liked the doors on the hallways to block out noise after the kids went to bed. Owner was quick to respond when we had a question. We would definitely stay here again.

We have always LOVED Sunset Beach and this property was AMAZING in every way! From waking up in the morning and enjoying coffee on the screened in porch to ending our days with a warm fire and s'mores but the fire pit. The deer who visited us each day (in the dunes) was a fun "beach" experience as well. If you have never had the opportunity to visit this wonderfully relaxing place we highly suggest you give Sunset beach a try! The name says it all- Escape...no other place our family would rather escape too. We will be back and booking with same property next year!

Celebrating multiple occasions including a wedding anniversary, the Marine Corps birthday and my own birthday, Escape was the perfect location to relax, unwind, and rest. Worlds apart from the bustling summer crowds, November at Sunset Beach offers a special type of tranquility. Home owner Pat ensured our week’s stay was carefree. As we were lucky enough to find, Escape is a lovely, traditional oceanfront home with room to spread out and enjoy all the residence has to offer. Fire pit, grill, fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and thoughtful sleeping arrangements made for a perfect stay. Sparkling clean, keyless entry and ease of owner communication makes Escape a gem regardless of season. We’ve booked again for Fall of next year….decided this must become a standing tradition. Absolutely a bucket list item for anyone who loves the sea and a cozy bed. Five stars and 100s of memories. See you next year Escape.

The house had everything we needed for comfort and for preparing family meals. The view is great the huge porches on the front and the back were enjoyable, With is plenty of seating for everyone. Nights outside by the fire pit extended our time outside which we loved. It was nice to have an option to grill out and not mess up the kitchen. The house is furnished very nicely and is well taken care of. This is much better than staying in a small hotel room!

Year 3 staying at The Escape was once again fantastic! This lovely home with a retro, beachy vibe sits oceanfront but behind our ecologically important dunes. The kitchen, living room and incredible porches are our favorite rooms! I also appreciate two king bedrooms, an enclosed hot/cold water outdoor shower, and a great laundry area. Oh, don't forget the fire pit. And the owners are the best!!! They are responsive and accommodating. I've already booked Year 4!
