About this apartment rental
This furnished one bedroom, one bath apartment is located in the middle of downtown Decorah. The Nest provides easy access to all of Decorah’s wonderful downtown shops and restaurants and there are many local parks within walking or biking distance. The west facing family area is a large open room with beautiful high ceilings and a wonderful view of the County Courthouse. The Nest was redone with the homey feel of Magpie Coffeehouse in mind. The floors are the original over 100 year old fir floors, exposed brick, and a comfortable couch. The dine-in kitchen makes it easy to prepare dinner and for entertaining during your visit. The bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and large lit closet. In addition to the bedroom, there are two twin beds available built loft style in the main room and a fold out twin bed in the ottoman. The large bathroom has a fabulous shower with your choice of two wonderful shower heads. There is an enclosed back porch, perfect for relaxing with friends or reading a book. A full-size washer and dryer is supplied for you laundry needs. Electric charging station for our guests with electric cars and electric bicycles available for rent upon request.

Sadly, I was not able to access the property when I arrived so did not stay at this property. VRBO directed me to seek other housing for my three day stay at that time. They tried to reach the owner but were unable to reach them to provide help. No negatives other than I was not able to stay. Just a communication problem.

Really liked this place except for the heavy, embedded smell of cigarette smoke. Air freshener(s) were going strong when we entered but the smell was overcoming it. The smell started to dissipate somewhat after 24-48 hours (or we were getting used to it). We wondered if there was a bar in the floor below years ago.

The host was very responsive and provided clear directions a few days ahead of our stay. The space was lovely with wood floors and beautiful reclaimed doors. The only downside would be for those who are older or have balance/mobility issues, the long stairway up could be disconcerting when toting luggage.

Great property in a great location! The only snag we ran into was some issues with the lock on the back door, but they were addressed in a timely fashion.

The place was a fun little getaway, within walking distance from downtown. There was a bit of a stale smoke smell but otherwise was great! We also rented their 2 electric bikes and had a blast exploring the bike trails.

Nice apartment in downtown Decorah. Walking distance to a multiple coffee shops and shops on mainstreet. We were able to walk to the river, see the waterfall, and do some hiking as well.

When your partner walks in and says “if I bought a condo I would want it to look like this” you know you picked a great place to stay. Best location and tons of space. Absolutely would stay here again.

This is a perfect little spot to enjoy all that Decorah and the surrounding area has to offer. It was just like home the minute we stepped in. There are stairs to go up to the apartment, from street side and alley side so be prepared for that. The parking spot in the back is an added bonus!

The Nest is the perfect place to stay in Decorah, Iowa. The location is great for shopping, hiking, biking and fishing. The Nest is very spacious and very homey. It is well decorated and equipped with everything you need. Can’t wait to go back.

The location and pictures are accurate. This unit is in a lovely location however the cigarette smoke from the neighbors is horrible. We left early because of the smell of the 2nd hand smoke. I understand that this is something the owners can not change but for our health we decided to cut our trip short.

Place was great, I know it’s called the Loft, but maybe it could be a little clearer that it does have quite a few steps for the older clientele.

We really enjoyed our stay. The Nest is a great location and eventing was really nice. The three steps right outside the backdoor are a little wobbly, but everything else was great.

My family and I were in town to visit family and to attend Nordic Fest. The location was perfect and we loved that we had a designated parking spot and access to the back entry. The interior of the apartment was amazing! The sectional was large enough for our family of four and very comfortable. The loft bed was quite high for kids, but not a problem for our 7 and 11 year old. They would have been able to sleep on the couch if they were afraid of the height. The ottoman also pulls out to make a mattress and a person could always bring an air mattress if necessary. Other reviews mentioned the stench of stale cigarette smoke and it there and for sure a downfall. However, I am sensitive to smells, but managed ok, but I could see it being an issue for someone who is allergic to smoke.
Overall, we loved it here and have already booked for next summer!

find the parking spot was difficult because the instructions didn't say in the rear of the building. the step in the rear are easier for a person with knee issues. otherwise we really enjoyed the space. if was very nice and just what we were looking for.

Decorah was so much fun! Partially because The Nest was conveniently located downtown and had different supermarkets, coffee shops, and restaurants within walking distance. Not to mention, we were only a 5-minute bike ride from the Trout Run Trail bike loop that goes around all of Decorah.
The Nest served as a great "home base" for our nature-filled trip!

Very comfortable place! Within walking distance of shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and the historic district. There is a flight of stairs to negotiate. Very quiet for being in the middle of town. It did take a little time for the water to get hot in the faucets but the shower was fine.

Very nice place to stay right downtown Decorah and be able to walk to shops and restaurants. I was an attendee to the Driftless Yoga Festival. It was wonderful to be in walking distance of most of the Festival too, which was a delight.

Property close to online listing. Different sectional couch in living room than pictured. Comfortable enough. Had 2 -90 degree days. The living room a/c unit only cooled to 80 degrees. Bedroom was cool enough but ceiling fan was stuck on high with no way to adjust or turn off. Pull chains missing/broke? "Change filter" message on main thermostat. That may be the cooling issue with the a/c. If the place is given a maintenance once over, it will be back up to 5 stars. Nice decor, comfy bed, has what you need and is a great location downtown.
