About this house rental
PLEASE INQUIRE if your desired dates don't appear as available! We may have flexibility.
Brambleberry is a luxurious and private 3+ acre gated estate in the heart of Sonoma’s quintessential Valley of the Moon wine country, surrounded by vineyards, near renowned wineries and wonderfully located for touring Northern California's wine country.
Selected May 2017 by HomeAway and Frommer's as their signature wine country property for Frommer's worldwide 60th Anniversary promotion.
Brambleberry was earlier featured in Travel + Leisure, whose writer chose to reside there exclusively during his county-wide tour.
Now in our 18th rental season, we've hosted nearly 500 vacation rentals and had many repeat guests. We commonly hear that Brambleberry is even more stunning than our photos suggest! For additional photos and information, please look on the web under WineCountryHouse. See last page of specimen rental agreement for contact info. Upon request we act as virtual concierge to our guests, providing recommendations on wineries, restaurants, shopping and local attractions.
From its serene setting to its traditional house, Brambleberry distinctively combines authentic wine-country and farm aesthetics. Blackberries (great for picking) abound in wild brambles. Majestic oaks and redwoods, a seasonal creek and a seasonal pond, all on level grounds, create a park-like setting. Private and quiet, yet conveniently located, the traditional farmhouse-style home is set well back and reached by a long, tree-lined driveway. A wraparound veranda lined with mature wisteria provides a cooling retreat from summer heat. Take in pristine views of nearby Sugarloaf, the landmark Sonoma Valley peak, while luxuriating in the heated pool or custom spa.
The 2600+ sq ft home has been exquisitely updated with attention to its vintage style, with high ceilings and high-end fixtures and appointments. The comfortable furniture includes antique and period pieces. Antique prints and paintings and unique handcrafted treasures echo Brambleberry's vintage aesthetic. Brambleberry is fully handicapped accessible and has access ramps, an elevator and an accessible full bath.
Serious and casual chefs alike will delight in the large designer kitchen, featured in Better Homes and Gardens. Its dining nook seats 10 and overlooks the pool. Luxury appliances, including a massive Wolfe six-burner range and oven and Thermador convection oven, are complemented by granite counter tops, a marble baker’s counter, a center island ideal for gourmet meal preparation and high-end cookware and dishware. Adjoining the kitchen, the formal dining room has a beautiful trestle table and an office area overlooking the pool. Keep in touch with high speed internet/Wi-Fi, guest computer and printer/copier/scanner/fax. From the dining room enter the large, inviting living/family room with fireplace of local fieldstone and 65" flat screen TV. When it’s cool, luxuriate before a roaring wood fire. Step outside to the wraparound veranda furnished with rocking chairs and vintage wicker and bistro seating. Also on the ground floor are a fourth bedroom, two half bathrooms and a large finished mudroom/laundry room with easy access to the pool, spa and bocce court.
Brambleberry can sleep up to 10. Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms, all with views. The master has a king and a twin, one guest room sleeps four with a queen and trundle bed and the second guest room has a queen. Downstairs, the bedroom sleeps two with a trundle sleigh bed and sliding doors for privacy. The master bath has a large stall shower and a freestanding clawfoot bathtub. The guest bath has a shower-tub combination.
The beautiful estate-size pool has salt chlorination and a recessed safety cover that keeps it clean and warm. Solar pool heat can be supplemented by gas heat in cooler months. After a swim, enjoy a shower in the outdoor changing room. A large custom stone spa is inviting year-round. The large bocce court with premium Har-Tru surface provides hours of fun for all ages. Gather around the wine-barrel fire pit on cooler evenings. Comfortable outdoor seating on the patio and pool deck, extensive lawns and mature shade trees create the perfect setting for outdoor dining and relaxation.
Brambleberry is fully equipped for young children, including two Pack 'n Plays, high chair, stroller and baby monitors. A full collection of ride-on toys and wagons is available. We had a wedding in Glen Ellen to attend and found this to be the perfect place for the family to stay close to the festivities in Glen Ellen. The house is well supplied with whatever we needed in the kitchen, towels, etc. Ping Pong, basketball, bocce ball court, swimming pool too! Great communication with the owners. Thanks so much for a great long weekend!!

If Monsieur Monet and Monsieur Renoir were alive today and wanted to re-create their country family home in France, then it would look like the home and gardens of the Brambleberry estate… but with ALL the modern conveniences (Wifi, Viking stove, wide screen TVs etc.).
For one way too short week in August, we were transported to the countryside of France. If I could just bottle and take home that enchanting aroma of blackberries, magnolia and jasmine that dances through the gardens and grounds of Brambleberry, my life would be perfection!!
A Summer vacation at Brambleberry should be on every one’s bucket list… but also, I can’t wait to return and enjoy the estate in a different season!!
without having to step on a plane.

The house and property provided the setting for one of the most successful and enjoyable family gatherings we have had.

Brambleberry was a vacation we will never forget. The land is stunning and in a wonderful location that is easy to find quaint restaurants nearby and very accessible to Santa Rosa. The tree-lined driveway is a place where we made wonderful family memories riding scooters up and down the drive. The pool was fantastic and there are so many places to dine outside or read a book in a shaded area. We loved getting up and going for a hike at the trailhead nearby. It just was peaceful and relaxing in every way imaginable.
The only cons were that the big beds could use some new mattresses and the option of black out curtains would be nice. While I understand the charm, some decluttering would be really nice especially if some tables were left empty so we could set our things down more easily. But truly this place is a gem. The family goes over the top to make sure your stay is nice. The toys and the baby gear was a really appreciated touch, as well.

I cannot overemphasize how beautiful Kathleen's home was--we had a group of 9 30 year old women, and we had the perfect amount of space, and loved all the beautiful Laura Ashley touches. The home and pool were immaculately clean, and Kathleen was extremely kind and responsive to any questions. We had a private chef come and cook dinner one night, and she was thrilled to have such a large and well-laid out kitchen to work in! Everyone in my group is already asking when we can come back.

Our family spent a few nights at this wonderful home in the heart of wine country. Communication with the owner before and during our stay was clear, quick and informative. The house itself is clean and extremely well appointed. The weather was perfect for allot of pool time and it was great to be able to end the night with a game of bocce. Everything is close to the house. Winery’s, restaurants and even San Francisco if you don’t mind a drive. Can’t wait to come back again. Cheers!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful property, and had a wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this home is a labor of love for the gracious hosts. The communication was great - it was prompt, friendly, and incredibly helpful at suggesting nearby restaurants and activities. The property itself is lovely. Nestled in a serene setting, it offers a peaceful retreat that is not too far from restaurants, wineries and Sonoma Square. The well-appointed kitchen was a delightful surprise, equipped with everything you could possibly need.

Great, tranquil property, with a lovely pool in a great location.

Overall experience was great. Had problem with opening the door, when we arrived. Thought the yard in front and back could use a spruce up. The Bocce Court could use a clean up as well, moss growing on the court, etc. The house itself was great, beautiful inside and out.

Absolutely loved our stay, the home was gorgeous and had everything we needed for our time there. We were a group of ten and there was plenty of room for everyone. The pool, spa and backyard were great and easy to use. Perfect location for wine tasting and enjoying Sonoma. Can’t wait to be back again!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Brumleberry. The house is charming and maintained with a lot of love by the owners. The outside is where we spent most of our time… The pool is very nice. There is also a hot tub and bocce ball court which kept us busy. The outdoor space is huge and definitely enough for everyone to have had their own corner. The house is just 15-20 mins to downtown Sonoma, which was easy to get to. We truly appreciated all the hospitality and would like to be back down the road!

My wife and children (2 & 4) booked Brambleberry for a getaway trip from the Bay Area right before school began. Before arriving we exchanged emails with Kathleen and she was very prompt and welcoming to us. Since we were bringing our kids she arranged for a pack and play for our youngest and toys for the girls were waiting for us on the porch when we arrived which was delightful. The house was clean and well maintained and felt like home during our stay. The girls loved swimming in the pool each day and there were some great nooks in the house and out in the yard for them to explore. The home is very close to vineyards and shopping but it was a joy just spending lazy afternoons enjoying the water and having a glass of wine on the porch. We would highly recommend this property, particularly for any families like us!

Brambleberry is a beautiful property. It is quite private, without being isolated, It has a very nice pool, bocci court, basketball hoop, and fruit trees. The house is large, charming and comfortable, and has a beautiful, large porch that provides shade and a direct view of the pool area. But the charm of the house is a result of its age and, therefore, one should not expect contemporary, sleek and totally updated facilities. The kitchen is large, has excellent appliances and is very well-equipped. There is an outdoor grill.
The house is ideal for a family with children, It is equipped with a great selection of children's and adult books, children's games, and equipment for very young children.
Our family had a fantastic week at Brambleberry - taking day-trips to nearby sites, hiking trails, wineries, etc., and spending afternoons around the pool and engaged in a variety of activities, such as badminton, bocci, and croquet. The evenings were magical as we watched the sunlight fade over a mountain on one side and a vineyard on the other. The owners were very gracious and provided a trove of valuable information.

Property served the needs of entire family: age 2 to 70! Beautiful setting and wonderful location! We enjoyed the pool, games galore and wonderful home! Close to amazing wineries. Kathleen was easy to work with and detailed oriented re our stay! Enjoyed our stay!

We were at Brambleberry for many family milestone celebrations. A family of 5 with adult children, we were so thrilled to have abundant space in a gorgeous, estate like setting. The house is spectacular, the grounds and surrounding wrap around porch are breathtaking. The pool and hot tub are delightful. Kathleen responded quickly to any questions, left detailed instructions on everything, allowed in early check-in, and was very accommodating. I would highly recommend this property, with all there is to do nearby (thanks, Kathleen) and the beautiful home that really felt like home.

This was a great property for our group of 6 longtime girlfriends. The house is very spacious. Plenty of room to be together or spread out. Wineries and hiking all very close by. Beautiful scenery all over. About a 15 minute drive to the Sonoma Square. The owners were very responsive to our needs. All was great!

Everything was perfect. The house was cozy and inviting and had everything we could ever need or desire. We were traveling with two young children who were overjoyed by all the available toys both inside and out. The location is perfect - right near many vineyards and the charming Glen Ellen, and close proximity to several gorgeous parks including Annadel State Park, which was just a short walk away.
Kathleen was so friendly and welcoming from the moment we made our reservation - she gave us so many great tips on things to do in the area. Her advice was every so helpful.
We were sorry we didn't see more sun - though we enjoyed the egret and pair of mallard ducks took up residence on the lawn. We look forward to returning and enjoying the pool on some warmer days.
You cannot go wrong with this home and its lovely owners!

With magical homes like this one it hurts to leave a five star review because you want to keep it all to yourself. This home was amazing for our family of young and old to enjoy a peaceful Thanksgiving. The kitchen had everything you could ask for to cook a Michelin rated meal, the pool fabulous for a dip and the grounds were stunning. Thank you a million times over for a wonderful home to bring us together.

I have never rented a property on VRBO before. I did not know what to expect. Our hosts and property were wonderful. We received so much helpful information before our stay, including information about wine tours and local wineries, grocery stores and restaurants. We felt very supported through the planning process. When our arrival times were delayed the hosts offered to provide us with food and wine waiting for us upon arrival. The home was great. Convenient location, clean, spacious, great wifi, had all the things we needed foe cooking, laundry, etc. We would absolutely recommend this property and these hosts!!

What a beautiful place! This property is a true gem. My friends and I had a wonderful time at Brambleberry. The house was spotless and had a ton of character, and we loved having our own swimming pool, hot tub and bocce court. Kathleen and Rob were exceptionally communicative and welcoming. We'll definitely be returning!

Warm and welcoming rustic experience, a (re)treat for our family
Loved the whole experience from booking to check-out. Kathleen connected with us before going on her family vacation and at such short notice arranged everything fabulously. Later we were in touch with Rob who walked us through every single detail about pool heating.
The property is kept very clean. It's a fabulous country home with nice sitting areas and comfortable beds--all beds have cotton sheets (love it!!). The property managers (including housekeeping) are just a phone call away.
I have stayed at several vacation rentals and by far this was the most welcoming experience. The kitchen is well stocked and very clean. The home is very inviting indoors and outdoors.
The pool was nice and warm even in spring (this area is very cold in spring)--at a slightly extra price, the pool was heated for our use, and our 13-year old swimmer absolutely enjoyed it. We are looking forward to going back soon.
The area is very close to both Sonoma and Santa Rosa (about 20 mins each way) and has some of the best wineries. There are a couple of great restaurants too. The nearest Safeway was about 14 mins away.
My elderly parents (ages 81 and 76) were with me and the elevator made it easy on their joints.
Thanks Kathleen and thank you Rob.

Wine country stay
Our family of 4 adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brambleberry. Easy to find and easy to access. Lovely location a little outside of town. Lots of activities like hot tub, ping pong, bocce ball. Living area and beds were very comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Artwork was fun. Good restaurants and wineries nearby. Would love to return in summer.

Great Family Getaway
The house was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Kathy made sure we had access to portable cribs and high chairs for my grandkids . The wrap around porch was a perfect place to listen to the rain. We all agreed we’d love to come back in the summer to use the great outdoor facilities.

Wine Country Girls Weekend
Brambleberry itself, the location, and it's owners were all outstanding! Kathleen and Rob went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The location in Kenwood is a beautiful setting, and the grounds and home are well kept. Our group of 7 fit comfortably and enjoyed the many amenities- including the pool, hot tub, outdoor space, bocce court, chef's kitchen, and many more! We look forward to planning our next wine country get away here! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality Kathleen and Rob!

Amazing Birthday Celebration
Hi had a group of friends at Brambleberry for a birthday weekend. We had an amazing time. The pool and backyard area were perfect for hanging out. The wrap-around porch was amazing for sitting as well. It was truly an amazing weekend and a very peaceful and fun place to hang. Could not recommend this place more! It's great for families, friends, or just a quiet getaway for a group in general. Very close to wineries and lots of fun hiking activities too. Great place to stay 5 stars!

Brambleberry Delight
We were very fortunate to rent this property and it was the easiest choice of our wine country vacation. The property is located about a half mile off a main road which made getting around very easy. The property is in a very quiet neighborhood and feels very secluded which was perfect for our group. If renting this location give yourself a break from the vineyards and restaurants and just chill out by the big pool. The owners were very responsive and helpful.
Plans for next year are already being discussed!

A perfect place to celebrate turning 18 (and 80) with close friends
This is a wonderful property. The owners have thought of everything to equip it for a lovely respite from city life: The pool, spa, bocce ball court, badminton, ping pong, and cooking tools for the chefs in the group. All of us would like to return to Brambleberry soon.

Amazing Property. 1st Class Experience.
Brambleberry is a amazing property. It's secluded on 3 acres with a gorgeous wrap around porch. Plenty of entertainment with a basketball hoop, bocce ball court, hot tub, and heated pool. The house is beautifully decorated with plenty of comfortable seating for all. The kitchen is spacious with room to socialize while cooking. The property resides in the heart of win country with dozens of winners 10 minutes away. The renter, Ms. Kathleen, is 1st class! She is extremely thorough and responsive. We left one day early due to the "shelter in place" ordinance. She went above and beyond to accommodate us during the difficult situation, and refunded us for the one day back. Thank you so much for the support Kathleen! I can't wait to return next year!!

Brambleberry weekend getaway
The homeowners were very responsive and communicative through the Kincade fire and smoke worries I had prior to our visit. In the end, the weekend was able to proceed without a hitch.
We were in Kenwood for a girls getaway with 3 of our children in tow. The house is well set up for having kids play and stay there from the toys in the house, the toys w/ wheels outside, the amazing property, having a highchair and pack 'n play, etc.
The house is located near wineries and markets, but there is plenty to do at the house if you just want to stay and unwind.
