The plumbing needs to be addressed. Toilets don’t flush well. The basement rooms are dark and hot. There is no circulation so it has a weird smell. We probably won’t stay there again. Also, the kitchen is difficult to work in.

We rented this home over Memorial Day weekend. It was a perfect space with the downstairs dedicated to the kids and upstairs for the adults. The game room was awesome for our teenagers to hang out and play games.
The home is comfortable and reasonably clean. The towels were a nice quality and bathrooms very clean. The kitchen is on the smaller side but plenty of room for two cooks to make meals. It was very helpful having two refrigerators. The washer and dryer were very useful, as we had lots of wet towels and bathing suits after spending the day at the lake.
We would rent again. Great time overall.

We arrived at 4:45 pm for a 4 pm check in to find the cleaning lady there and a DISGUSTING mess. Whoever rented before us should be forbidden from ever renting again! Our family helped the cleaning lady clean the house until after 7pm. The cleaning lady was wonderful, and Vacasa made it right by us in refunding one night's stay. Worst I have ever seen a property, BUT, that was the fault of the prior renters and I appreciate Vacasa and the cleaning company making this right!

Cabin was challenging getting into, electronic entry instructions not clear. The cabin was well furnished and looked clean as you first enter BUT, several areas of the cabin were dirty and did not look like it had been cleaned in awhile.

We really liked the home for its size. The downstairs was nice and spread out for the kids. Virtually no noise upstairs which made it nice. Also, the games were played constantly...air hockey is great. Hot water for all three showers going at the same time is a plus, stuff you normally don't think about.
Not a lot of space for food as all the cabinets were taken with stuff...which was nice as the kitchen is fully stocked with what you need.
The negative - AC is a smart unit controlled by owner and it took over 3 hours for them to release it so we could cool the house. The first night was HOT.
The front door push button code wasn't right so we had Vacasa get us a new code.
The master bedroom lock stayed locked so we could never close the door fully.
The can lights downstairs doesn't have a switch so we couldn't use those and lastly, the downstairs TV didn't have a remote.

Perfect property for our family vacation. We come to Shaver every summer but have never stayed in Ockenden Ranch. This is a quiet nice neighborhood with upscale houses. This house was perfect size, well equipped, and very clean. They also allow pets so we brought our dog. She loved the back yard full of sticks! There are 6 bunk beds, 4 in one room and 2 in an open area for kids. The master bedroom is huge and very comfortable. There are 2 additional bedrooms with a queen and a twin so there are a lot of options. The bunk beds are not really comfortable for adults. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is a new grill on the upstairs deck. Overall great place to stay in Shaver.

Such a beautiful cabin! Enough room for my family, beautiful views of the woods, kitchen was fully stocked with everything you can possibly need and then some, The game room was perfect for the kids with a whole different living space that was perfect! And its a couple of steps to a nature trail to some exploring and take some beautiful pictures of nature. We also got to see a Deer right in the back of the cabin, it was a beautiful sight... My whole group Loved the cabin and our stay. Thank you!

Great cabin for a group!
Very clean and large cabin. Great place for children especially for games on the lower floor. We were lucky to get snow on the first day and there was plenty of room to play and sled right out in the back yard of the cabin.

Book with caution.!
I had initially booked this place for 13 people. Due to unforeseen circumstance I made the attempt to cancel and get a refund. I didn’t realize that I was booking a place that did not allow a refund. I called vacasa and they stated they would be unable to give me a refund despite the face that I was asking for it weeks prior to my reservation date. Do not book here unless you are absolutely certain because the company will not provide a refund under no circumstance. They do not care, all they care about is not losing money. I have definitely learned my lesson and will never book with this company again.
Overall, the cabin was nice but, the blankets in one of the rooms had dog hair all over it!! I think it was just folded and put up in the closet. We also had an incident where the house alarm randomly went off. It was blaring for like two minutes straight as we scrambled to look for a number to call or instructions on what to do. We found nothing! Luckily it randomly just stopped going off. Also, The bottom floor of the house is separated from the top area and you have to walk through the garage (super cold) to get from the top floor to the bottom floor.

Perfection
I booked for Christmas and this house was perfect! Quiet area with plenty of space for the 11 of us with room to spare. It snowed the entire time, which is what we were hoping for, and the kids loved it. There are lovely trails in the back of the house to explore and the kids to play in. The house is well stocked so if you forget something they will probably have it for you to use. The game room was also great with plenty of board games as well as the air hockey table. This house is EXACTLY as advertised; it's a beautiful home.

Family Gathering
Pros: Nice vacation rental for large families. Roomy and comfortable. Large refrigerator.
Cons: scratched, flaking cooking pans in kitchen, dull knives.
Luckily I had two of my own skillets, and a couple of sharp knives.
That being said, we enjoyed our stay.

Overall good stay
The home is a bit older with older decore. But overall it was a good stay. The house may need some upgrades, maybe some new couches. The ones there are a bit worn.

Whispering Pines
My family had a great time and really enjoyed our stay. we were a large group (14) and the place accommodated us very well. I thought it would be hard to cook since it is large group, but was pleasantly surprised to see that the kitchen was very well stock. The bunk beds were not comfortable and did make a lot of noise when the children moved.

picture doesn't do it justice. its a huge and beautiful home.
We had a family vacation here this past weekend and it was amazing! the rooms were big and very comfy beds. For some reason the Cable wasn't working and when the internet was on after a while it would kick us off. That was frustrating when having family time watching a movie. We enjoyed the snow out doors lots of room. There is a lot of houses being remodeled but over all no noise. some areas of the house gets hotter than others but its ok. kitchen had everything you need and labeled. has 2 refrigerators which was a bonus for us. will book again but looking for a bigger house for more family or looking into a house close by for extra people next year.

Awesome getaway!
The house was fantastic with so much room to roam and comfortable fit our large group of varying ages!
No A/C could be hard if you’re not used to the warmth mid-summer, but fans and open windows made it great for sleeping.
There is a regular coffee pot in the kitchen and a slightly better breakdown would be useful. The knives were very dull, but we made due. Other than that we had everything we needed!
Our code did not work at entry, but we were able to use the lockbox instead.
My only complaint was that we emailed the property manager though Vacasa about extending our stay weeks in advance and never heard back. We called one night and spent 57 minutes on hold before being disconnected. A little frustrating, but our trip was still great.

Family weekend
The house was clean overall but the kitchen was kind of dirty. The coffee grounds from the last tenant were still in the coffee pot. Make sure you bring all your own kitchen cleaning stuff including dishwasher detergent and garbage bags. There were little bits of dog treats everywhere. The dryer's timer settings don't work but the others do and they should post that.
My biggest complaint is that we paid for two days but because check in is at 4pm and check out is at 10am, we didn't get a full two days. It's a lot of money to spend for what was essentially a day and a half. We asked for early check in or late check out, but were told we couldn't because of extra COVID cleaning. But if that was the case, we should have had a clean kitchen.
We did have a good time because the basement game room was awesome for the kids but not sure we will try this one again.

Escape the Heat for the Week
We headed up to Shaver for the week, along with one of our son's and a few of his friends. The setup of the house was great for families with teenagers. The boys were able to hang out in the basement level, which had three beds, a bathroom, a family room (with TV) and a game room. The garage also had a separate fridge that the boys were able to access for things like snacks and drinks.
My husband and I stayed in the main level, which had a nice large deck. As I mentioned previously, the layout of the house was great. Overall, my recommendations to the owners are as follows:
1) The dryer is still not working! I saw a previous review about this and assumed it must be fixed by now, but it is still not working.
2) When we arrived, housekeeping left behind a full load of dishes that had not yet been out away. There was also a considerable pile of dog poop in the front yard, left by the previous guests.
3) There were several kids hand prints on mirrors.
I called Vacasa and followed up with an email and received no response about these issues.
4) Lastly, for all fuure renters, please note that there is a house next door that is currently being built and I wouldn't expect it to de complete until next summer. This may be bothersome to vacationers who are hoping for quiet mornings. We did have one morning where a crew was there working before 6:00 a.m.

Helpful things to know:
We did a big shop prior to our arrival knowing the stores in Shaver have limited groceries however several things would have been helpful to know, all of which had we known we could have brought from home including:
`No coffee filters for coffee pot
`4 dish tabs and overly diluted soap under sink, not nearly enough.
`drying not working
`poor quality water - water doesn't meet standard so made a trip to store every day to buy water. Kens Market limited water purchasing to 2 gallons per visit.
`Bar b Q was nice however propane tank was empty.
1 roll of paper towels and no napkins in kitchen
`2 large trash bags for trash and recycling was not nearly enough and no recycling system or indoor trash cans of decent size
No other supplies such as zip lock bags, foil, matching/usable Tupperware etc.
All of the above were annoyances requiring too many trips to the store as we didn't realize what was needed until we needed it and our experience with vacation rentals is that most are better stocked.
All of the above didn't deter from us having a wonderful time!

Clean spacious winter retreat
We found this house for a last minute winter getaway. I got notified about early check in which was awesome because it was during the beginning of a long snow storm. However when I arrived the codes on the door did not work. My only option was to be on hold with Vacasa to get another code option. I was on hold for over an hour! Let’s not forget it was already snowing and I had my young children with me. I also emailed Vacasa about it hoping they would call me back quicker. Anyway an agent picked up and we got in. The house was very clean, there was definitely plenty of room. 3 bedroom 2 bath upstairs. Master was nice with nice French doors out to deck. My boys loved the bunk bed room as it was spacious and cozy. Thankfully we brought our own wood for the fireplace because it stated the house wood was for the owners/ or you’ll be charged. When I emailed Vacasa about using the fireplace before our trip I wish they would have mentioned that, because we would have brought more wood (especially because we lost power for 45 minutes one night Most lily due to the storm ) . I preferred staying upstairs due to the warmth/ more windows and light. We were allowed to keep house at 68 degrees according to home information. Downstairs was cool for the kids but it was colder and a bit musty smelling. I loved the decks! I wish we could have got to lower deck easier. You have to go inside through garage to get to any lower level of the home. Lots of seating on deck was nice as we just watched the snow fall some evenings. Kitchen was small, but manageable. There were plenty of dish ware and utensils. They did have one baking pan that didn’t even fit in the oven... (I had to switch to another...probably could toss it in my opinion). Oven did seem a bit smaller. (definitely burnt stuff due to higher elevations beware! Lol) We had to restart wifi box and it finally worked, so my husband could get a few work emails done. Also we couldn’t find any tv shows etc. Thank goodness I brought my kids dvds. I didn’t see one dvd option in the home. Also not sure the dryer was working correctly we attempted to dry some of our snow gear and it never dried. The information that is emailed vs the information in the home needs to be on the same page for “leaving/ checking out” one said start laundry and the other had it crossed out. So we didn’t start any.... but then we totally forgot to run the dishwasher before we left. I guess too much confusion. Again 4 stars because we enjoyed our stay other than little things here and there. Plenty of play area for kids. Comfy house. As a vrbo owner myself I just know there’s room for improvement in this home, but we made it work.

Great home!
Just rented this house over the 3 day weekend. Gameroom is great for the kids ( and adults!) family room is cozy and the house is well taken care of. Easy in and out access. A couple things that might be helpful to know that we’re not on the website.
1) the gameroom and additional bedroom are accessed through the garage.
2) the kitchen is a bit small and dated without a lot of counter space so if you plan on doing a lot of cooking keep this in mind.
3) a more detailed list of what is available in the kitchen would be nice. We should have brought some of our own stuff and left some stuff at home!
We did have an excellent meal at the Trading Post in Shaver which was nice.
