Peaceful and beautiful setting. Loved seeing the deer everyday!! Best well stocked kitchen of any place we have ever stayed. Great location close to shopping, restaurants and of course Duke University!! Great hosts. Laura checked in a couple of times to make sure everything was going okay.

We LOVED our stay and only wish that we could have stayed longer. We were two adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 7 and had plenty of space. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed for a few meals at home. It was so helpful to have laundry in the house when a trip to the Eno River quickly led to swimming in our clothes :)
Laura was extremely helpful and we so appreciated the kids toys and board games.
We hope to come back during a future trip. A full day swimming and relaxing by the Eno River was highlight as were the Duke Gardens. Beautiful area!

We enjoyed the trails and also the close proximity to Duke med center and shopping. The owners are extremely helpful and we would definitely stay here again.

This was our third time staying at this property and we loved it just as much as the first time. This property has become our home away from when staying Durham.

This is an exceptionally well kept and well appointed property. The images shown are true to what you will find. The sleep number beds provided us with restful nights of sleep. This was, is, and will be our place to stay in Durham.

We stayed here for 6 nights while my daughter had surgery at Duke Medical. This place was the perfect place to go back to after a long day at the hospital every day. Quiet, extremely easy to get to the hospital. The place was stocked with all cooking utensils needed. Everything was exactly as represented.
The property owners were very polite and accessible. They even shipped some clothes that were left in the laundry to me.
We are headed up to Durham in a few weeks for her post op and will probably try to book again then.
Please follow the speed limit on the road the house is on. There are deer everywhere.

Laura’s house is in a beautiful setting of tall trees and quiet, at the end of a road that leads to walking trails. The house is equipped with everything you need for an extended stay and it is very welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much, although we didn’t spend much time in the house. I would definitely recommend Laura and Brad’s place to other travelers!

The host, Laura, was communicative and helpful and the property was perfect! A peaceful and pretty location in the woods with a wonderful walking path right out the driveway and all of the amenities that you would need for a vacation stay. I would definitely stay there again and I’m very happy to have found this little gem on VRBO :-)

Peaceful recovery
This is one of the quietest neighborhoods. It doesn’t feel like you are only ten minutes away from Duke Medical Center. I recently traveled to Duke for surgery. We knew I’d be hospitalized for several days. We booked this home so that my wife would have some place to stay nearby. It’s an easy 10-15 minute drive to the hospital (closer to ten than fifteen except afternoon rush hour). There are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores within a few minutes drive. Anything we needed was a short trip.
The house is just right for a small group (up to 4 adults, more if you have smaller kids or an adult who doesn’t mind sleeping in the loft).
The living space is perfect for relaxing and reading. The bathroom shower/tub has a hand hold for getting in and out which I appreciated. There is also a separate handheld shower head which was beneficial for me. The kitchen is on the smaller side but well equipped. More than adequate for a small family or group.
I enjoyed the Spring weather and spent a lot of time on the front porch. The azaleas were in bloom and the surrounding woods were serene and peaceful. We have spent a good deal of time in and around Boone/Sugar Grove, NC. It’s that kind of quiet.
The owners were fantastic. I ended up needing a few more days convalescing prior to making the four hour drive home. They worked with us and extended our stay for a few days. They communicated well with us before, during and after the stay. There are clear instructions in the house covering most every question. Internet works fine so mobile devices work and mobile signal is fine as well.
I don’t think you can find a better place to stay if you are in Durham with a smaller group. I imagine it would be perfect for a family to bring kids to their first Duke basketball game and stay for a long weekend. I know it’s cliché to use perfect in these descriptions but I can’t seem to help it. I’ve already recommended this place to several friends who are Duke alumni. Consider this wonderful little hideaway that is deceptively close to just about everything if you’re going to be staying in Durham. I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

Long stay
My husband and I stayed at Brad and Laura's Forest Home for a little over a month while waiting for our new home to be completed nearby. The home is exactly as advertised and was fully stocked with all the kitchen and bath supplies/equipment that anyone could want, including a pound of freshly ground coffee in the freezer for our first morning! The house backs up to a small creek and woods which are great for taking walks and spotting deer early in the morning.. The location is very quiet, peaceful and relaxing but also close to Durham restaurants and nightlife if you're looking for it. We had a delightful stay there and would recommend it.

Peaceful retreat.
We stayed here for twelve days during the end of January. The home was very cozy and warm. Everything you could possible want was provided. The owner’s communication was thoughtful in making sure we were comfortable.
We enjoyed the forest around the home and walking the trails down to the creek. Thank you for sharing your sweet place with us!

Home away from home
Comfortable and had everything we might need. I was able to cook a couple of dishes for the family Christmas dinner we were invited to. The full-sized washer/dryer was great, and I can’t stress enough how wonderful the hosts are!

Wonderful escape to nature
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at the Durham Forest House for 2 weeks while in Durham for a medical procedure at Duke. The home was exactly as pictured, well provisioned, very relaxing, and a perfect place to recoup. Laura and Brad were wonderful hosts--very responsive and accommodating.

Great stay
Property was private, clean, well stocked and accessible to Duke. More importantly, Laura was very responsive as a host and made sure that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. For 8 days, it was our home away from home and this was important to our family. Would stay again!

Charming forest escape
This charming small home in the forest is exactly as represented. You will be surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the forest with zero traffic noise, visited by deer and yet only a few minutes to everything Durham has to offer. This house is still used part time by extended family so it has a lived in feel, almost too personal in some ways. The kitchen is fully functional, but very tiny. We did not use the loft area or second bedroom at all. It was perfect for the two of us, but might start feeling tight for more than 4. Many welcoming touches for guests including those with children. We would stay here again.

Beautiful!
Family of three, including four-year-old girl. We loved the location: peaceful little spot in the woods. We enjoyed watching birds, deer and catching salamanders in the creek. The house was well equipped and clean and the beds were comfortable. Would recommend. Thank you to the hosts!

We wanted to find a place in the Raleigh/Durham area where we could visit our son who moved to the area this past summer as well as celebrate our wedding anniversary. This house was listed as being at the Eno River State Park and it was exactly what we had hoped for. We saw deer every single day in the neighborhood and in the trails. We brought our two four legged friends and they had a great time walking the trails and exploring.I recommend this to anyone who needs time to get away and relax!

Great get away within the city
The forest home is a great loaction, 10 minutes from Duke but in the middle of a forest. We saw deer twice. Once through the window of the home and once hiking a trail that started at the end of the driveway. I recommend this home.

Granddaughters 2nd Birthday
Our son and daughter in law live in Chapel Hill but the Forest Home was still ideal. Love the country feel and not too far from them. We spent most of our time with them on this trip but we have hiked parts of Eno River in the past and its close proximity is a plus for this home. Picnic bbq is close by and prepares wonderful southern food!

Cozy Home in the Woods
Laura and Brad have set up this cozy cottage very efficiently. Everything you need to enjoy a week (as we did) or a few nights is available to you in a lovely private setting essentially surrounded by woods yet still close to everything in Durham. We initially chose this home as a pet-friendly rental near to where our son lives having no real sense of Eno State Park and the close proximity to his various trails, so we were pleasantly surprised by how fabulous Eno State Park is. Our dog loved exploring the trails as much as we did. The Moores are not in charge of the weather, but it certainly helped to enjoy this house and setting during Christmas week with temperatures in the 60s with lots of sunshine.
Another added bonus for us is the how close the home was to a crazy-good BBQ restaurant called “Picnic.” Had it been open on Xmas eve and Xmas day, we’d have eaten there four nights in a row.
Laura and Brad are very responsive home owners. We ourselves are VRBO vacation rental owners and appreciate what it takes to make travelers happy in a rental. Best wishes to them.

Great getaway location.
We were looking for a cozy getaway near Chapel Hill to spend Thanksgiving with our son. This house fit our needs perfectly. We were able to share a modest Thanksgiving meal, and then have an enjoyable hike in the nearby Eno River State Park. We visited Civil war sites nearby, as well as the Duke gardens and the life and science center. But we never felt rushed, and had enough space for everyone to relax and be quiet when desired. We had a lovely time together, thanks in large part to our very comfortable home away from home.

Cozy place to stay
This is our 7th or 8th stay at the Forest Home. It is always nice and cozy and meets our every need. It is convenient to everything while at the same time it is secluded in a quiet wooded residential neighborhood. Eno River trails are right at your doorstep. We saw three deer in the yard this time. Thanks Laura and Brad.

Great stay
2 friends and I stayed for a week while attending classes and training at Duke School of Nursing. The house was as described. Clean, well-stocked. Owners responsive to any concerns or questions. Enjoyed the outdoors and visits from deer and squirrels and peaceful location.

A Real Gem
Since this was our fourth stay here, obviously we love it. It's a charming place with all the amenities of a great vacation home. The wooded location is wonderful -- close to everything Durham has to offer, which is a lot. The neighborhood is quiet. The home is located at the end of a partly gravel road, and there's a trail just next to it that leads to a small creek which can be crossed for a longer hike to the Pump Station Trail on the Eno River. The owners are most helpful and easy to reach if necessary.

Away from it all
Lovely little house in the woods.
Stayed a week and enjoyed the quiet and nature.
Walk the trail and go swimming in the Eno River, visit Bennett Farm where the document ending the civil Wat was signed (5mns away), or go to Duke Homestead, also v close, to learn about the man who helped shape Durham and region.
The house is convenient for everything. Or just stay in and relax !
