About this cottage rental
Situated in spectacular Whaler Bay a quick 5 minute walk from the Sturdies Bay Ferry Terminal and all amenities - A calm serene bay with stunning views down the bay and beyond, perfect for swimming, paddle boarding and launching your kayaks or canoes. View our resident kingfisher perched on his pole, otters playfully frolicking stirring the glass-like water, watch for 'Sammy' the seal who comes round in the evening to check things out and watch the herons skillfully fish for their dinner. Galiano is also the perfect spot to see the many pods of whales that travel through our waters in the summer time.
We are available for rent year–round. So cozy–up to the wood burning fire and enjoy a good book in the winter or sit out on the deck with a refreshment on those hot summer days.
Recently redecorated bright open–space living & dining area with a cozy fireplace. Fully furnished 2 bedroom cottage, 1 queen and 2 double beds, and 1 full bath. Our fully supplied kitchen comes stored with dishes, cookware and appliances so you don't need to worry. The fireplace is a cozy accessory for those crisp winter days and fall evenings. The large 300 sq. ft. deck is the perfect place to relax on the deck chairs and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and views of spectacular Whaler Bay. There's also a propane barbecue so you can grill up your summer faves.
Enjoy the bounty of Provincial Parks, spectacular views, and wildlife every where you go and breathe that fresh island air. The natural beauty of Galiano Island invites relaxation, exploration and excitement.

The house was lovely and in a convenient location. The bay is a bit murky for swimming but great for paddling and there are lots of nice swimming beaches a close drive away.

Great location, perfect spot for wildlife watching from the window and raised terrace, The highlight was seeing 6 otters all together on the jetty just tens of metres from the house, plus 2 fawns regularly in the garden, racoons, hummingbirds and kingfishers too. Only a short walk to all of the amenties you need, and a very short drive to great look-out spots on Active Pass. The property was exactly as described, only better! My only suggestion is that it would be great if there were kayaks for use too.

Hi,
We arrived in time to see the Kingfisher which was exciting. In the morning we saw a Bald Eagle catch a fish right in front of the cottage. This was all within 12 hours of our arrival. The cottage was as depicted in the photos. The kitchen is very well appointed, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom is lovely. We would definitely rent this cottage again.

Very attractive cabin, super spotless and comfortable ... small footprint but felt very spacious inside. We enjoyed a few throwback movies from the 90s!

The cabin is located right on a quiet bay a mere 3 min walk from the village centre. It is perfectly located for easy access to the island's highlights. Watching local wildlife from the cabin's windows is the perfect way to while away many hours.

Andrea was a wonderful host. The cottage was clean, well-stocked, and very comfortable. Beautiful views and quiet location with easy access (5 min walk) to terrific bakery & restaurants. Easy launch of kayaks with the tide in. Lots of wildlife - osprey, harbour seals, deer. Short drive to Montague Harbor. Can't wait to return!

The cabin is very well presented and has a lovely veranda with views of the sea. The facilities are you excellent and Andrea is a great host.

I really enjoyed this cottage and all the lovely design touches. It’s a great location to ferry and to shops for walking. It’s comfortable, simple and clean. The water is beautiful to watch the tides come in and out and the changing wildlife and colours are mesmerizing.
The island is magnificent and the hikes and walks are spectacular and less developed than other gulf islands. Slower pace here which is so wonderful.

Truly one of the nicest vacation rentals we’ve stayed at. Clean, generously stocked and centrally located. We walked more than expected right from the suite. Will be back with the whole family next time…

The cottage was just lovely and was very clean and nicely appointed. The bathroom was beautifully renovated and the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The cottage has a fabulous waterfront location where we watched deer, herons, woodpeckers and owls right off the deck. Very relaxing, quiet and peaceful location that is close to the ammenities. We went on many fantastic day hikes with stunning views, wildlife and awesome sandstone rock formations. We would return in a heartbeat to this little gem of a cottage on Galiano Island.

Fabulous location, beautiful and relaxing inlet view, right by the water. So much to see from the property and so much to do on the Island. We got to see kingfishers, deer, osprey, heron. It was fun to paddle board right from the property. If we had timed the tides right for our stay, we could have kayaked as well from the property. Everything was in the cabin that you would need.

A lovely cottage located on a beautiful, quiet inlet. Close to island amenities and very well stocked with everything needed for self-catering. Our children loved playing and paddling in the sunny backyard and we had fun star-gazing in the evenings. Beds were super comfy for a good nights' sleep. Thanks Andrea for a wonderful stay!

Positives: Beautiful location! From the incredible back deck we saw deer, otters, ducks, herons, woodpeckers, and more; we were within walking distance of the ferry terminal and many shops; power, plumbing and appliances worked perfectly; floors, linens and towels were clean; comfortable beds; updated bathroom; ample parking; easy check-in and check-out; responsive owner; quiet and safe location; bottled water included.
Negatives: The cottage was quite small; some surfaces were dusty; the Wi-fi rarely worked.
All in all, it was a good place and we enjoyed our time at the cottage.

Lovely!
Quaint, and beautiful. Very clean. All kitchen amenities provided. Lots of movies and games as well. No cable. Nice view. Close to stores. Walking distance from ferry, you almost don’t need a car unless you want to explore. Keep in mind this property is on a private beach but it’s not quite swimmable as the ground is quite mucky. If you want to swim drive to Montague Bay.
Hummingbird Pub is about an 8 min drive and the food is GOOD. Very large portions.
No complaints here!

Great week
My 9 year old had an absolute blast at this great rental unit. She could take her floatie right off of the grass and into the water when tide is in. She loved walking thru the bay when tide was out as well. Sunsets from the lawn and deck were absolutely beautiful as well as seeing some deer and otters on and near the property. Walking distance to the local store, coffee shop and restaurant. Really enjoyed our stay and even on a less than sunny day we still managed to get out and enjoy the scenery and beaches.

Close to Nature
We had a wonderful week on quiet Galiano. The pictures accurately depict the clean and well kept cottage. We enjoyed the easy access to the water for paddle boarding at high tide. It was a bonus to be surrounded by wildlife, such as deer, seals, otters, geese and eagles. Lovely view from large deck.

Close to the Ferry, and miles away
The Sturdies Bay cottage was one pleasant surprise after another. First, how quickly we found ourselves there once off the ferry, then instantly into a forest as we quickly turned into the driveway. Most surprising, however, was how spacious & bright the cabin was upon entering: a wide & open kitchen/dining/living space with a massive deck overlooking the bay; good sized bedrooms at either end of the cabin, and a lovely new bathroom (great shower!) tucked away off the foyer. Minutes to the little commercial area for wonderful baked goods etc. The perfect cottage for our first-ever Galiano Island getaway.

Everything was amazing. The owner was responsive, check in was easy, the cottage was even better than the photos, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The beds were so comfortable and the location couldn't be better. Highly recommend 👌!

A perfect cottage for a break away from the hustle and bustle.
Very well appointed With plenty of condiments cookware and dinnerware. The wood burning fire was a bonus and had plenty of firewood. Did have a minor issue but the host were available and very onto it very quickly thank you.

The cottage is as advertised, and has everything you would need for a getaway. The location is great as it is walking distance to the local amenities as well as forest trails and parks. The owners are also very responsive if any questions arise.
