About this house rental
Experience charming, picturesque Bailey Island, a Maine Casco Bay Coastal Island destination for vacationers from all over the world for over 100 years. Because Bailey Island is now connected to the mainland by the world's only existing Cribstone Bridge, it is no longer necessary to take a ferry to visit. Built in 2013 with 5 large king bedrooms, the Flying Lobster Ocean House has incredible panoramic views in all directions. The back of the House faces the west and is located less than 50 feet from Merriconeag Sound; the front of the house faces the east and is located less than 50 feet from Garrison Cove. Every room has incredible long distance oceanfront views. The view from the front of our property was listed in the 60 Year Anniversary Edition of Downeast Magazine as one of the best views in Maine. The House is surrounded by so much water and ocean scenery, you will feel like you are cruising on a ship. See some of the most stunning sunrises and sunsets from the large windows and decks on the East, West, and North sides of the House. Garrison Cove is a working lobster harbor with several lobster boats moored and a working lobster dock in front of the House. Walk 200 yards to famous Cook's Lobster Restaurant and Lobster Pound and eat lobsters at the Restaurant or buy precooked lobsters at the Pound or live ones and cook them at the House. You won't taste fresher or better lobsters anywhere. The lobsters you eat are caught in the waters surrounding the House on the same day by the lobster boats moored directly in front of the House. If you have your own boat, we have a deep water mooring you can use located in Garrison Cove in front of our property. House has many amenities including 60 inch TV and Surround Sound System and gas fireplace in living room, WIFI throughout house, and 32 inch TVs in all 5 Bedrooms, 3 of which have private decks. Central air conditioning, screen porch overlooking Sound, and decks on both side of house and huge raised sun deck on edge of Merriconeag Sound. The views around the House, especially Garrison Cove and the Cribstone Bridge, are some of the most photographed scenes on the Maine Coast and extend to Small Point to the East, High Head to the North, Harpswell Neck to the West and Cape Elizabeth to the Southwest. From the House screen porch and oceanfront decks, see seals swimming in the Sound, lobster men and women setting and pulling traps, and Casco Bay Lines ferry boats, kayaks, skiffs, sailboats, tuna, fishing and lobster boats cruising by just a stones throw from the shore of the property. Walk on the beach on the front of the House adjacent to Garrison Cove or the shoreline on the deepwater oceanfront side finding shells, crabs, mussels, snails, sea glass, driftwood and other ocean treasures.

Amazing house and excellent location. We ate a lot of lobster, went "lobstering", ventured out on a Schooner and enjoyed spending time with our family.Thank you.

We were a family of 6 adults traveling from GA, VA, UT & NY to vacation at this lovely home on the water. We loved having the convenience of Cook’s Restaurant and Sundrenched restaurant so close by. We bought our lobsters and fresh seafood from Gurnet Trading Company which was great.
Unfortunately we couldn’t really use the screened porch because the furniture was just way too large for the small room. We couldn’t get around the table because of the large chairs with arms. The dining room chairs are very heavy also but not really a deterrent. The location of this house is fantastic …breathtaking views all around. The host was very quick to respond when we had an issue with the pump alarm going off. We loved having the decks and especially the seating area by the water. We never used a TV while we were there because we were just enjoying our time at this lovely house. It’s about a 25 - 30 minute drive to Brunswick so we did most of our grocery shopping on our way to the house. Although the description said toilet paper, paper towels, etc. were provided, we found that we had to shop for more shortly after we arrived. And there was only one garbage bag. These are minor things we just wanted renters to be aware of.

My jaw dropped when I drove up to the Flying Lobster House on Bailey Island. It is magnificent - literally surrounded by water on all sides. The pictures on Vrbo don't do it justice. We had a wonderful week and I was sad to say goodbye to those incredible ocean views.

Simply amazing and better than pictured. Everything you need for the trip within a 20 min drive or even within walking distance. We’ve been to Maine many times, and there’s nothing like this place and this island. Sincerely hope to return. Hosts responded to any questions we had within minutes. Thanks so much.

The pictures of this magical home don’t do it justice. It’s one of the most beautiful vacation rentals I’ve ever stayed in. The views of the sweet little cove are almost 360. It’s well appointed, clean and the owners are communicative and kind.

The house is an awesome place for our first trip to Maine. We didn’t want to go to a big city and this place fit our wants. Our biggest disappointments were not having much lobster boat activity (I guess it wasn’t lobster season?) and no seals! The house has a rocky coast on one side and more beach on the other. We loved sitting at the window and watching boating activity. It was colder when we were there so we didn’t participate in the sailboat that was docked at the restaurant in front of the house. Maybe next time we will come later I. The summer. The 2 local restaurants were very good and it was enjoyable to be able to walk to dinner. Our 3 1/2 yr old loved the “tower” room!
There was a glitch at check in but it was handled promptly and we had no further issues.
Would highly recommend this property as long as you are wanting to stay on the island mostly. It’s a long way back to town so we took day trips and stayed in at night. We loved staying here!

We came from Michigan on a bucket list trip. I have stage 4 cancer and have been traveling all year. This house and location were the most beautiful place we have been to this year. The views from anywhere inside were breathless. We purchased lobster to cook in, the house was well stocked with all the cookware. Beds were comfy, family room was cozy. I have already shared the link to friends. Must stay location!

The house is beautiful in a picturesque setting. There were 7 adults and we were never crowded with enough privacy when we needed it and comfortable gathering areas. We did buy a 12 cup coffee maker ( left it) as the house only had a Keurig . Wonderfully decorated, great linens, well appointed kitchen (except for coffee pot), lots of hot water for showers, walking distance to a tasty restaurant—splendid vacation spot!

This property was more than we ever imagined! The location is to die for and the home was spotless. The beds were so comfortable and there was more than enough space for the 8 of us. The owners were very attentive and graciously answered any questions we had. I can’t wait to go back and experience more of what coastal Maine has to offer. This was a 10 out of 10 trip in my opinion!

We haven’t had a chance to stay at this property yet due to an unexpected medical event, but we are looking forward to our stay next Summer. Jim and Marijo have been great to work with and very understanding. We can’t wait for next Summer!

Four siblings and their spouses gathered here from all over the US. The two bedrooms on the main floor were great for people not wanting to do steps. Two more bedrooms on the second floor with two bathrooms worked out great for spacing. The fifth bedroom on the third floor was worth the climb. The 360 degree view was stunning! The setting is nostalgic and delightful. We enjoyed having two restaurants just down the street, so we could walk to lunch or dinner. The rocky shoreline was so fun to explore. Watching the ships sail by was endlessly entertaining. I would definitely stay here again. Jim was very helpful solving a tv issue.

There were 6 of us (3 couples)...combined and separately, we have travelled all over the country/world. Each of us has stayed in 30+ home rentals over the years...this place was easily in each of our Top 3. The sheer beauty of the location with water views all around gives it a leg up on most places. The house itself is large (5 bedrooms) yet very charming with a lot of little places, inside and outside...to relax, enjoy a book or just gaze at the water. Even the view from most bedrooms is A+ and the beds were very comfy. This rental gets 11 stars out of 10!!!! Also, Bailey Island is a MUST SEE. Be sure to go to the the General Store for a fresh lobster roll (best we had all trip). Also, take the 3 min walk (so convenient) to Cook's Lobster and order the Lobster Saute...oh my! Drive down to Lands End for a beautiful viewing spot and nice gift shop. About an hour drive away is Booth Bay Harbor (cute town) and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens..which we def recommend.
Again, we loved everything about this rental and Bailey Island (and Maine!!!). Thanks Jim and Marijo for sharing your absolutely beautiful place. We hope to be back again one day.

The house couldn't be more perfect! All 5 bedrooms have a great view of the waters off Bailey Island... it's a working fishing village, so lots of lobster boats and fishing going on. There is a restaurant within walking distance with fresh, delicious seafood. We traveled up and down coastal Maine so the house was positioned perfectly for us to travel up and down the coast. Waking up to have coffee on the patios/balconies overlooking the water was soul-soothing. I wish we could've stayed longer and would definitely stay here again.

The views are terrific from every room.. The activities surrounding the house like the working lobster and fishing boats make just looking out the windows so much fun and the outside sitting gives you views of porpoises and seals. Theirs are many local trails to hike and close by kayaks to rent. The house is well appointed and our family enjoyed cooking in the kitchen together when we didn’t go out to close by restaurants. We had a wonderful time….

Excellent home for
Our group had a wonderful time during our stay at the Flying Lobster. The house was lovely and comfortable. It is well situated to either walk around the island or explore further away by car. We also spent plenty of time sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the deck enjoying the ocean breezes. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had during our stay.

We loved It!
We had spectacular time and the house was everything we had hoped it would be. We rode bikes, and ran, and soaked in everything this quant little island has to offer. Close enough to make day trips to some of the more “touristy” destinations, but far enough away to enjoy the solitude we were looking forward to. The house was well equipped to meet all our needs and the owners have clearly worked hard to ensure guests are comfortable during their stay. This was our first trip to Maine and this experience made us definitely want to return.

Seriously, this is the house! I'LL refund your money if you don't love it. We spent hours outside on the chairs just watching boats go by. Can't want to visit again.

The location of the house is incredible! The views and proximity to the ocean were amazing. We spent most mornings with our coffee on the deck over looking the ocean. We were a group of 8 including two teenagers, two 70+, and a ten year old. There is ample room to spread out and unpack. We stayed for 6 nights. Each room has beautiful views and king size beds so everyone was happy. Cooks Restaurant is close enough that even my 80 year old father didn't mind walking to dinner multiple nights. We feel very lucky to have stayed at the Flying Lobster and would happily stay there again! We highly recommend the food at BIGS and Cook's. The family that runs the Schooner Alert sailing tours is super friendly and we can't recommend a sail with them enough. This house will make you fall in love with Maine.

The location of this beautiful house can't be beat!
The location of this beautiful house can't be beat! Every room has big windows with gorgeous views The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of room for 9 adults and we really enjoyed the deck by the water and walking about this quaint and pretty island. My only suggestion would be to have beach chairs available.
