About this house rental
This stunning 4 Bedroom house has wonderful views from all bedrooms and living space. Completely renovated with new Maple hardwood floors, complete kitchen with granite countertops, new plaster, woodwork, windows, staircase and furniture. Two full tiled bathrooms with showers and the downstairs bath is ADA compliant. Each of the four bedrooms has a full size double bed.
Whether it is looking out the bank of windows facing the ocean or observing the Eagles that perch on a close by island, or watching your neighboring lobstermen's activities on their wharfs or on their boats; there is always something interesting to see. Located on Perio Point, you are in perfect position to stroll around the genuine and friendly village of Beals. This is also an excellent place for a fall foliage, Thanksgiving, or Christmas getaway.
Purchase your ocean fresh lobsters from the fisherman who uses the wharf in your back yard, steam them with the outside lobster cooker, and savor them either on the picnic table by the water or in comfort inside. Whether it is Summer or Winter, sunny or foggy, warm (never hot) or chilly, once you cross the bridge from the mainland the rhythm of the tides (12') is hard to resist.
You will never lack for things to see and do. A short 5 minute drive takes you to the end of Beals Island to Wass Island where the Downeast Institute is located along with some of the U.S.'s best hiking, kayaking and birdwatching. Another short trip (about 5 miles) takes you to beautiful Sandy Beach, which is not only picturesque but great for sunbathing or a refreshing dip. Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, Campobello Island, St. John N.B., Eastport, and Quoddy Head are all an easy and fun day trip.
From sardine museum to mustard factory to reversing rapids to tiny baby lobsters to giant whirlpools; you can see it all. And the world's best seafood. Lobster, Crabmeat, Scallops, Mussels, Clams, Haddock, Halibut, and Gulf of Maine Shrimp to either be prepared to your taste in the new and fully equipped kitchen or enjoyed at one of the excellent (and typically modestly priced) restaurants in the area.
For our guests who require handicap accessibility there is a 'to code' entrance ramp leading to the open downstairs living area. The downstairs tiled bath is equipped with a roll under sink, ADA toilet, an open shower with fold down ADA bench, hand control shower head, and grab bars. Downstairs sleeping accommodations are a full size American Leather sleeper sofa, purportedly the finest available.
The furniture has been selected for both attractiveness and comfort. There is WiFi, Television, and a DVD player. And, of course, a game of Monopoly.

Phil was a wonderful host and provided great information and options for things to do. The house had excellent views of the harbor and sunrises. We particularly enjoyed watching the lobster boats going in and out. Phil arranged for us to take a trip on a working lobster boat which was an amazing opportunity and we loved it. Like all of the Maine peninsulas we had to drive about 12 miles up the coast to get to Hwy 1 to go anywhere, but that's part of the experience of being in Maine and it's why we like vacationing here - it's secluded and quiet. We highly recommend this property!

The house was quintessential Maine by the water. Open concept downstairs made it comfortable for all 8 family members. Philip communicated quickly to all of our questions. Beautiful Sandy River Beach is a short 10 minute drive and absolutely beautiful. When the tide is out you can walk to the islands and dig for clams. We bought lobster right off the boat in Beals and cooked it in the back yard. Would come back again.

This quintessential Maine home was so cute & maintained. The host was just next door if needed & had the best tips for the area, including how & where to buy lobster & cook them in the equipment he supplied! The island was quiet & beautiful and just a little drive to the sandy beach or town to explore.

This was a wonderful place to stay. The house is beautiful, well laid out, and well maintained. It had everything we needed to just relax and enjoy the peaceful ocean surroundings. Phil is a host without peer; very caring and attentive. 5 stars

We loved our stay. Our host provided a ton of local information including where to get lobster, where a local beach could be found and even a list of recommended local restaurants.
Our rental was clean and cozy stocked with plenty of amenities.
I highly recommend this Vrbo!!

We throughly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and excellent place on a quaint Maine island. Watching the comings and goings of the harbor from any window in the place was very enjoyable. The house itself was very comfortable and clean as well as equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Phil was great to communicate with and had some good suggestions on things to do and see in the area. We'd definitely stay there again.

We took a week out of the Texas heat and hustle to meet some family in Maine. The house is nicely decorated and very cozy. We loved watching the birds at the water's edge. We texted with the owner, who was very friendly and helpful. We brought games and guitars. It was a quiet, restful, remote week, which we needed and enjoyed very much.

The property was very comfortable, cozy, and well equipped. It was very close to Great Wass Island which is a beautiful hike and we saw a seal there. Also centrally located between Acadia and Lubec. Phil was very accommodating and gave good recommendations. You didnt even have to get out of bed to see the sunrise! Would definitely stay there again!

A quaint little working village on an island. We had fun exploring the area wih the highlight being spending the day on a working lobster boat, and bringing back a bucket full of lobsters for a feast! Yum! Also enjoyed the Maine Sardine history museum, and hiking on Great Wass Island Preserve. Our host Phil was great! 👍👍👍

We enjoyed the house and island very much. We were 8 family members and the open concept first floor made it so enjoyable to be together and everyone have a comfy place to hang out. Nights were quiet and the house is clean, sun-soaked and accommodating. The host is next door though the only time we saw him was when he was planting geraniums in the pots around the property for the start of the season. Highly enjoyable. Thank you.

Enjoyed our stay in Beals at this recently updated home. Loved the available lobster pot and used it every day. Piano was a hit too! Close enough for visits to Acadia and New Brunswick but far enough away from crowds.

Beautiful house on the water. This is a working town of lobster fishermen. Very quiet with friendly people. We really enjoyed our stay.

Phil was great. Helped us get acquainted with this beautiful little fishing town. We had a disabled friend who welcomed the ramp into the house and she slept on the pull-out sofa in the living room close to the handicap assessable bathroom. It was a great set up. We loved having this house as our home base as we toured the area.

A perfect week
We brought our own kayak and explored the coast during the high tides. 17 American Coot, loons diving and a Mule deer swimming from island to island. Wild kingdom. Watching the tides come and go was magical. Look for Clifford the Big Red Dog swim/chasing a bear just before the highest of tide. Phil is full of ideas. Walking to Barney's Cove to buy our lobster. Our lobster boil. Unforgettable. Accommodations offer a constant water view. Lovely.

Beautiful Downeast Maine Location
This property sits on a working waterfront location overlooking Moosebec Reach. With water views from every window it’s a perfect spot to enjoy an authentic Maine lobster fishing island. The house bright, open, and very comfortable. This is my second wonderful stay at this house and would definitely choose this property again in the future!

A lovely space tucked away from the world
This home isn't for everyone, but it was great for us. Right next to a lobster dock, the home was clean, simple, and comfortable. Rooms were smaller than expected (double beds in all 4), but worked out ok for us. Kitchen well stocked, lobster pot/burner worked great, and enjoyed fire pit every night. View of water is awesome. This isn't fancy and no restaurants or shops nearby, but if that's what you're looking for, this is the place for you!

Sunrise & Sunset On the Harbor
Loved the location on the working harbor, though very disappointed to check in to find a dirty house, but we understand the housecleaner was sick and the host was unable to find anyone else to fill in.

Wonderful Maine Vacation
Our group of 7 (ranging from teens to ‘70s) really enjoyed our Maine vacation. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of seating and beautiful natural
light (which did wake me up at 5:30 am each morning with the light streaming in around the blinds) as well as a fire pit. The views were incredible, but it is a working lobster fishing village, so sometimes the smells were not. Phil told us about things to do and even arranged for a lobster fishing trip although sadly it was cancelled due to fog. We made trips to Lubec, Bar Harbor, and the surrounding villages and Maine did not disappoint. It is a beautiful state! If you enjoy a quiet, peaceful vacation, this is a great place. If you prefer to be in the hustle and bustle, this is not the place for you. The townspeople were friendly and informative, and a special bonus was seeing the fireworks for Independence Day going off right outside our windows. Our family would love to go back! Thank you, Phil, for a wonderful place to stay and for the helpful info you gave to make sure our stay was a great one.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful location.
My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children ages 14, 10 and 6, from Eockport, ME, all loved our stay here. The house is comfortable and clean, with comfy couches and ocean views from every window. Even though the weather was cool and rainy, we had a great time exploring Beals and Wass’s island (the hike around Wass’s Island Preserve was stunning). We were also surprised to find Sandy River beach across the bridge in Jonesport, to be a beautiful sand beach, more like what we would expect from a beach in Southern Maine. The outside space of the house was great too, and we enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the fire pit and watching the tide go out. Most of all we enjoyed the gorgeous views from all directions in the house, including two spectacular sunsets. Phil was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Moms 80th surprise!
Beautiful super cozy house with all that is needed for a comfortable stay away from home! We picked this local because family lives in the area, and out of state family came in to surprise our Mom for her 80th birthday! This house is perfect to sit, talk and enjoy each other’s company. Phillip was very polite and attentive to our requests, a special thank you to him! We hope to stay here again.

Heavenly escape in the heart of it
Set amidst lobster wharves and on the beautiful tidal waters of Beals Island, this comfortable home was the perfect base for days of exploring and evenings of cooking and stargazing.

Beautiful House Fantastic area to explore
Family of 8 very much enjoyed our stay at Perio Point on Beals. Location was perfect with more than enough things to do during the week. Highlights were amazing sunrises and sunsets, Kayaking Great Wass and exploring mistake island (with guide and hundreds of seals joining us), hiking Great Wass, chatting with the lobstermen and super friendly and interesting locals, Sandy river beach, Eastport windjammer cruise, and just chilling by the fire and eating lobsters, Mussels, and the finest crabmeat in Maine. Phil's house had everything we needed and he was super helpful. Super scenic location. We would all highly recommend this rental.

Relax
We watched the sun rise every morning. The house is exactly as shown and has everything you need. The owner was very responsive to any question we had. We went to relax and that is exactly what we did. Working lobster boats/docks are near you but are not intrusive and interesting to watch. Internet connection was great, but not secure. We were working at times so our work computers wouldn’t let us connect as it wasn’t secure so we just used our cell phone hotspot. We will definitely look into staying here again. Thank you Philip!

Peaceful and happy holiday escape
This home was perfect during the off-season, nestled on the edge of a hard-working seaside village. At Thanksgiving time, the house was warm and inviting. Even during a major snowstorm inland, Beals Island stayed relatively mild.
During our visit, we had a great launching point for daytrips to communities, sights and nature trails around Downeast Maine and Campobello Island, Canada (so pack your passport). We were also entertained on days we chose to stay at the house relaxing, watching birds and lobstermen all around.
If you go off-season, most touristy places will be closed or have limited hours. Just be prepared to fix your own meals in the complete kitchen and you will not be disappointed.
Thank you, Phil, for your great communication, flexibility, and hospitality!

Wonderful Maine Vacation
We picked this property because of its location and the great reviews. It did not disappoint! House was clean and well-appointed. Really appreciated the lobster cooking equipment and instructions. We had fresh lobster one night and had everything we needed. Highly recommend! All rooms had stunning views of the harbor. Downstairs was setup great for visiting, relaxing and watching the harbor. Very quiet! Owner available via text or phone if needed. Wonderful seafood all along the coast. Loved the visit to Campobello Island

Wonderful waterfront home in Downeast Maine.
This waterfront house is one of the most charming we’ve had the pleasure of staying in. Located in a working fishing village, it provides easy access to Acadia National Park as well as much of Northern Maine. Kitchen was well equipped, even for steaming our lobsters that came from a fishing dock right down the road. Phil was a great host and source of information!
