Herring House is a lovely property - comfortable, clean, well-equipped and quiet, with a glorious sun terrace and moments from the shore and Fife Coastal Trail. We had an amazing holiday and look forward to a return visit. One minor suggestion - could you maybe install blackout blinds in the top bedroom to help the sleepers not be woken by the summer sun at 4.30am!

Gorgeous, well appointed cottage in a picturesque sea side fishing village.

We stayed here as three couples with the dogs for a week over the summer solstice period and had a thoroughly superb week. The accommodation works brilliantly over three floors with generous double bedrooms and three bathrooms and the ground floor living area works well with a large kitchen diner and large living room. The garden is lovely but the best feature has got to be the fact that you walk out of the gate onto the beach. Pittenweem is a beautiful working fishing port with a good pub, really good bistro several cafes and all the amenities you need. The proximity to the Fife coastal path was one of the major reasons for our choice of venue and we weren't disappointed. I would happily holiday here again and explore more of this beautiful, but quiet part of Scotland. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Easy to locate from directions given. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay in this spacious house - warm and every appliance functioned well. Guidance book was easy to follow. Lovely garden area to eat out and so close to the harbour front and the coastal path AND that tidal pool if brave enough to swim.
High Street offered helpful shop and PO and cafes.

We spent Christmas week in the Herring House (and the eider house next door). The property was spotless and had ample space for our large family gathering. The Christmas trees were up, and the shortbread and wine was a nice touch. The house is full of charm and had everything we needed. Location is perfect, just steps from the waterfront, and easy access to the coastal path. Checkin/out was smooth and simple. Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this property !

Wonderful celebrations
We spent a fabulous few days at Herring house for my wife’s ‘big’ birthday recently. The sun shone, the walks were stunning and the food in the area did not disappoint!

Herring House
We loved the house and appreciated how everything was there to accommodate the whole family.Herring House was homely and comfortable. There was only one snag and that was the stairs a couple of the family members slipped and fell on the same stairs and on the same step obviously at different times.I think it was fourth or fifth step up from the first set of stairs. We thought it was important to inform you just so that you are aware.

A gem of a house
This is a lovely property in a prime location, very close to the beach yet tucked back so it is private. The garden and drive are excellent giving a lovely viewpoint and off street parking which is rare for this location. The house itself is spacious and very well set up. We were a group of 6 with a dog and it was very comfortable for us. We would happily book it again.

Break with friends
Herring House is a fantastic base to explore the East Neuk.
The house has everything you need for a great break away.
The kids enjoyed exploring in the village and the coastal walks to St Monans, Elie and Anstruther.

Perfectly positioned family getaway
We’ve been having 3-generation family autumn holidays for a few years now, and this was the best yet! Late October sunshine really helped, but if it had been rainy, the house would have been fine for a family aged 1 to 60+. It was very near the beach, which we all loved exploring, and there were great walks in all directions. House provided everything we needed, and felt like a home, not a minimalist guest property. Only downside was poor phone reception and slow WiFi - but maybe that was also an upside! Hope to be back another autumn, or in the spring/summer to include a trip to the Isle of May.

Pittenweem family holiday
Herring House is a lovely place from which to enjoy Pittenweem, the East Neuk of Fife and further afield if you wish. The kitchen is very well supplied with all of the kit that you are likely to need and the three big bedrooms plus smaller room with bunk beds are very comfortable. We as grandparents stayed there with our son, his wife and three children (all under 10 yrs) and everyone enjoyed the time there. The shoreline is within 100yds and access to Pittenweem on foot (bakers, shop, chip shop, pub, harbour etc) is easy - though be prepared to get fit walking up and down the steep Wyndes which give the place charm.

small deficits
a very nice house, very clean , very well equipped.
Though there were some small deficits that can easy be solved : a shower head in the bathroom on the second floor, curtains in the bedroom on the second floor (we woke op every morning at 5 PM because of the light).

Beautiful setting in quaint village
This is a lovely character house in the quaint fishing village of Pittenweem. Our group of 8, including 3 kids, really enjoyed the location steps from the sea. We were lucky to have good weather (in April) and made the most of the garden and its views in the mornings before going out to neighbouring attractions. Although the home has character it is modern and very well equipped, and being set back from the street (and accessible via a narrow entrance way) meant that it felt very private. Our only one complaint with the top floor bathroom is that there is only a bath and no shower which meant it wasn't very useful for our family and resulted in more of us sharing the main bathroom. One other observation is that with no cloakroom on the ground floor, my mother who walks with a stick did have to go up one flight of stairs for the bathroom. Unfortunately this is just due to the layout of older homes and could not be helped. Other than this, we had a great stay and would be very happy to stay here again if we have the opportunity.

Great property in a fantastic location.
Fantastic house in a great location. Can’t fault the house at all and having such easy access to the coastal walk made our break all the more enjoyable.
