Our stay was wonderful. The views are spectacular and the house is well appointed. Lots of options for seating and congregating. Pool was great on hot afternoons. Only one person used the hot tub.
I would say anyone with mobility issues should give consideration to the changes in footing around different spaces on property. I probably won’t be back to this area soon, but I would rent this property again.

You can’t hear the ocean but you sure can see it! Phenomenal views. House is from the 80s but great bones - quality everything, bedding furniture etc + some real art gems. Mostly everything you could need in kitchen - we cooked all our meals there. If you’re a cook, bring your cutting boards, baking sheets, measuring spoons and evoo. They have everything else. 5 minute drive to cafes and lunch spots. But grab your groceries and liquor beforehand in Carmel or Monterey. Gorgeous Pfeiffer beach close and easy to get to. Everything worked perfectly. Private relaxing retreat for your next special getaway. Highly recommend!

In the heart of Big Sur the location couldn't have been better nor could the view. This was our 17th stay in Big Sur over the past 20 years so we have some experience.
Would we rent this house again? Yes.
Would we recommend to friends? Yes.
That being said, there were a few issues.
On our arrival, as requested, we reported ripped deck cushions and a running toilet in one of the bedroom suites that was keeping people up at night. We were thanked for calling, especially regarding the running toilet as wasting water in Big Sur is a big deal. I was surprised when nobody came to fix it and it ran the entire time we were there disturbing two people's sleep.

The attached bedroom smelled so badly of mold and the sickeningly sweet scent of the air freshener trying to cover it up that two of the adults in our party couldn’t sleep there and had to sleep on the couch in the main house. That is NOT what we paid thousands of dollars for. Also a bright outside light that blinked all night kept us from sleeping well. Only two hand towels for 4 guests. This was a travesty!

This was one of the most beautiful and comfortable places we have ever stayed. Big Sur is a magical place and this property captures that magic in full. Every aspect of our stay was thoughtfully considered and provided for by the owners. Truly worth it.

This house and its hosts deserve 10 stars. The only possible draw back is that the house and its surroundings are so incredibly beautiful, it’s hard to justify sleeping. The views were incredible, ever changing and always magical. The layout of the outdoor space created the most perfect micro-climate - the deck and pool area were warm and sunny and protected from the wind during our spring stay. We enjoyed the ample wood pile and layer a fire every night in the super comfy living room after enjoying the stars around the fire table on the deck. The location was steps from Nepenthe and the Phoenix shop and close enough to pop into Monterey very easily for a trip to the Aquarium. Also close by are Andrew Molera State Park and Pfieffer State Park. I cannot say enough about this house - I truly hope I can experience it again very soon.

This is one of the nicest VRBO properties that we have ever stayed at. The view is unbelievable. The house is so beautiful and well laid out. The beds were super comfortable and there are lots of special touches such as cozy blankets, fun books and games, and an extremely well stocked kitchen. The fireplace is wonderful and there is plenty of outdoor furniture for the entire family to enjoy. We cannot wait to return!!!

We had the best stay at this home. My husband, friends, and I rent a large home somewhere on the west coast every year and this has been our favorite so far. The home is gorgeous and cozy. There is everything you could need in the kitchen. The scenery is breathtaking. It is a tad confusing to get to (through no fault of their own) and one neighbor clearly hates that it is a rental, but otherwise it is an incredible place. I would definitely recommend staying here and if we are ever in the area again would love to stay here again!

Loved the location and the the property. The kitchen could be a little better equipped and I'd recommend glasses/jug for use on terrace/deck rather than glass.
My real issue was with VRBO website not letting me read/receive any messages. Which made the check in process a little stressful. Fortunately I found a number for the host and even more fortunately they answered at 5:30pm on a Saturday!!! But all great.

The Big Sur house is really wonderful. It was just as described. There was plenty of space for our family of five. The views must be seen to be believed. Multiple restaurants and great hikes are close by. The property manager was very responsive to our requests. We would recommend it.

This house is in a perfect location with spectacular views. We really enjoyed having morning coffee with the rising sun and a glass of wine during sun set. We experienced a full moon and night twilight with glistening ocean waters and two very large owls that enjoyed the trees around the pool. The house is very accommodating with everything we needed - including cozy blankets and very comfortable beds. Kitchen was fully equipped too. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking Andrew Molera Park, which is the closest park to the house. Another favorite was Point Lobos Park, which took us two days to explore in entirety. It is called the most beautiful park in California for a reason. We hiked the other parks, but those two were our favorites. We would warn against hiking Buzzards Roost unless you are an experienced "climber." The trails are steep and narrow with rocks that slip out from underneath you...very dangerous and exhausting in our personal experience. We enjoyed the stunning views at Sierra Mar Restaurant but felt like the food was just ok given all the hype - service was exceptional. Our massages at Ventana Resort were just ok and were very, very expensive for the day pass...but their outdoor massage rooms and pool grounds were beautiful. We also did not enjoy our lunch at Sur House and we had very poor service so our day experience there, that we were really looking forward to, left us with the impression that we would not go there again. Esalen Institute would most likely be a better spa experience. We did enjoy dining at Deetjens, Nepenthe, Pacific's Edge in the Hyatt (we ate there for lunch after Post Lobos State Park. We also enjoyed The Tree House Cafe in Carmel, which is also close to Point Lobos State Park and grocery stores. None the less, we had a wonderful time staying at this house. It was truly a memory maker. We really didn't spend much time inside the house, as the deck was so accommodating and beautiful. In addition, the management company was very helpful. Make sure you have the key code before you arrive and also the wifi password before you get there. Otherwise, you will not have wifi access or phone service when you arrive. Also make sure you already have maps of the trails and parks you want to go to because wifi is hit or miss while driving. The house had great wifi once we got the password and were able to login, but when you journey away you most likely will not have it. We will stay here again in the future. Can't wait!

We loved everything about our stay and would definitely return! This property provided comfortable indoor living spaces with a well-appointed kitchen and a large deck with ample seating and spectacular views. Two of the bedrooms also had lovely private decks overlooking the coast. Very peaceful place to enjoy family time on the coast . We spent most of our time outdoors.

Amazing views and outdoor spaces
The property offered absolutely incredible views, the pool and hot tub were very much enjoyed, as was the fireplace. We spent almost the entire time outside. Check-in process was easy, although I did not receive my check-in code until less that 12 hours until check-in even though I had signed and returned all paperwork well in advance. I had to send an email asking for the code because I still had not received it by the night before when it was supposed to be sent. Being that service is spotty down in the area, I would have appreciated not having to worry about that by getting it the night before as is promised. We had two pretty significant disappointments in our stay: the first being that the house had single ply scratchy toilet paper... this is simply not acceptable for a property this nice, and at this price point. The second disappointment was arriving to find that there were only about 2 Tbs of olive oil remaining in the bottle upon arrival, when the property states to have pantry items as one of the listed amenities, I would expect back-ups or at least sufficient supply of something so crucial to cooking would be provided. Overall we loved the outdoor spaces and views, but I think some improvements could be made to the indoor experience.

Luxurious stays in the two Big Sur resorts have become prohibitively expensive because of all the dot.com money. Having stayed at both of those places many times, I was completely satisfied here. Although a bit of a splurge for time away by myself, it is fantastic, would be a great spot for three couples who enjoy location. Kitchen is fantastic. Cannot recommend nightly enough.

This place was as advertised. It helped that we had perfect weather. Great location. Spectacular views from very large deck and two of the three bedrooms. Hot tub worked perfectly as did the automatic pool . Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms and kitchen well-equipped. We'll come back for special occasions. Only very minor issues were the propane ran out on the grill and we found 5 empty tanks on the side of the house. Also, the light and fan over the range top didn't work (or we couldn't figure out how to turn them on).

Transcendent Big Sur Experience
By far the best VRBO we have ever experienced. The house is absolutely stunning with it's magnificent views, beautiful artwork, and quintessential Big Sur architecture. We felt at home and completely relaxed the minute we walked through the door. The home is extremely comfortable and well-appointed, and truly a destination unto itself. Big Sur is a magical place with it's rugged coastline, spiritual redwood forests and spectacular stargazing, and this home is well-positioned to experience all it has to offer. Easy check-in and a very responsive property manager all added to our relaxing, week-long stay. Highly recommend and extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in this awe-inspiring home!

Everything we needed PLUS a magnificent view!
Our stay was comfortable, easy and completely relaxing. Amazing location close to quaint restaurants (Nepenthe, Big Sur Bakery, Deetjen’s etc) with a million dollar view. The home was so comfortable and had everything we needed to make ourselves at home. The outdoor space is inviting and where we spent the majority of our time at the property. Highly recommend!

My adult daughters and grandchildren thought the property was great. They enjoyed the pool in the hot tub. We had plenty of room and the view is breathtaking. A couple of recommendations would be to use unscented detergent and Dryer sheets for linens.. The property is well appointed but definitely on the older side.
