The games room was the big hit for the kids but we all loved the charm, facilities and convenient location

Extremely hot week but the house was very well equipped with fans. Nice front and back porches for sitting and having morning coffee and planning our day. An overall good experience.

Clean, historic feeling, comfortable

Our stay was nice. The one drawback was Maine ( as was the rest of the coast ) was experiencing a brutal heatwave. The house does not have A/C and even with fans it was insufferable.
Had the weather been normal Maine weather it would have been perfect.
I had my dog with me and ticks were very present. Make sure your dog is treated before arrival.
Camden is just a short drive away as well as some small beaches and refreshing water play.
The house has a large ample parking area for at least three vehicles.

The house was spacious but not luxurious by any stretch. The bed linens were sub par and offering 1 towel per adult for a 3 night stay was bad. Yes, there was a washer dryer but we didn’t go on vacation to do laundry. The location was quiet.

This beautiful old farmhouse is just amazing so much space welcoming a really beautiful piece of property we truly enjoyed sitting on the front porch for coffee and on the back porch later in the day to watch the sunset. The bonus room was and awesome space for the two dogs to frolic together and we would not have to worry about them being in the main house it reminded all of us of what it must have been like to live in that era a really great place to spend time

What a wonderful stay. Just what we were hoping for! The hosts were super responsive even when a problem arose from the previous guests. The location and setting are wonderful. The house is comfortable and has everything we needed for two weeks. Love it. Thank you!

The farmhouse was absolutely perfect for us: spacious private bedrooms with lovely rural views accommodated three couples; plus separate sleeping quarters for two families' kids in two rooms downstairs in a pull-out sofa and a day bed. The wonderful huge dining table accommodated 12 people easily, and on occasion 15 when we had visitors join us for meals. The kitchen was exceptionally well provided with cooking and serving ware for a crowd. (We didn't realize that the broiler was under the main oven at first :) All the bedrooms had ceiling fans and two window ventilation, so we did not suffer from heat. The game room was just separate enough that we could monitor the happily engaged kids without being intruded upon. There is a great outdoor play area for young kids, and table games perfect for kids and adults. The front porch was a delight: we sat out there rain or shine, singing and playing music. The flower beds were lovely, including an herb garden! It's on a low-traffic country road, with easy access to Megunticook Lake and wonderful lake swimming and kayaking. We picked plentiful wild blueberries up nearby Maiden's Cliff Rd. right off Youngtown Rd, on a ridge with beautiful views. Fantastic!
There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, so for the large number of people we had, it took a bit of thoughtful cooperation, but it was fine.
The special charm of this house, which felt informal, authentic and at home with the country setting, made us all happy.

Everything needful for a family vacation. The house was roomy, the beds were divinely comfortable, and being so close to beaches, hiked and birth Camden and Belfast was amazing. Owls at night, eagles overhead, a games room and places to curl up and read… this is a marvelous house with caring hosts.

The house is spacious and comfortable with many amenities. We enjoyed the green outdoor space which is very nicely maintained. The sunny porch and shaded deck provided opportunities for quiet relaxation. The house’s proximity to trails and short drive to Camden State Park are a definite plus. We visited the towns of Camden, Belfast, Rockland and even a day trip to Bar Harbour.
Everyone in our party enjoyed the stay.

We loved the house. Just what we were looking for- older, spook factor, traditional Maine. Located centrally close to several coastal towns that we explored. House itself had all the amenities. Winery down the street was nice. Looking forward to coming back to explore Maine again.

Maine Vacation
The back yard is picture perfect and several evenings we were entertained by a deer that was feeding. The house was larger than we needed, but was pleasant place to stay.

I really enjoyed the elegance of this old house with great window views.
Lots of privacy and quiet.
Beds were very uncomfortable.
Very close to road.
Backyard trails unwalkable due to high grass and tick threat.
A very homey Main feeling in this house.

Lovely Home Near Camden
We had a wonderful two weeks at this home. The location worked well for our family—it is close to Camden, and just a short drive to the lake or to the Village of Lincolnville. We also enjoyed the proximity to hiking trails. We found the living spaces to be comfortable and had plenty of space to spread out. The house is well equipped and well kept—it has everything you will need, even beach towels! The only negative for us was that the beds are all doubles (I failed to notice that in the listing and I have a tall husband) and we found the mattresses uncomfortable for a long stay. Other than that, though, we really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Property
Lovely old home, with modern updates. Comfortable and clean. Landscaping is wild but tended, with interesting sculptures found throughout. Had a great time with our family, especially our new grandson. Lots to do in the area.

Exactly what we were looking for
We had a wonderful stay! As is clear in the listing, this is a 100+ year old farmhouse with some charming quirks. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated and I found the house to be very clean. It was great space for our family of 4 while visiting friends and family in different parts of Maine. Thank you!

This house is amazing! Such care has gone in to keeping it up!
This is a beautiful home and well cared for. We had everything we needed to cook and enjoy our meals. We weren’t far from Camden and got to really enjoy it. Lots of relaxing and a great vacation!
Contact with our host was awesome! Response was quick when we needed them!

Wonderful historic home, full of 110 yr old quirks, while offering modern conveniences.
Easy check-in. Property was just as advertised. Lovely location surrounded by Maine nature. We enjoyed the period specific furnishings. The front porch and back deck were favored locations. A little room for improvement in the comfort of the beds. Some too hard, some too soft, one too noisy. Owner was prompt to respond to our call about a tripped surge protector. Thanks for a great vacation.

Lovely House in a Wonderful Area
The house is very sweet, located in a quiet neighborhood within a short drive of downtown Camden and Lincolnville center. While it's not equipped to do any serious cooking, we were able to make do with what was there, made use of the great restaurants in the area, and found the house otherwise very comfortable. The owners were very responsive.

Excellent Rental
I have booked many, many vrbo rentals over the years and Amanda’s home is absolutely one of the best. Everything was exactly as advertised, the house was immaculately clean and a couple of questions that I had were answered immediately. The house is a very elegant old home on a lovely piece of ground just five minutes from downtown Camden Maine. The small personal touches like fresh flowers in several rooms really made us feel welcome. You will have everything you need in this rental. I would love to stay here again.

Quiet and calm
We enjoyed our stay, relaxed and used Ocean's Express as a great base for activities up and down the Maine coast from Rockport to Acadia National Park.

Peaceful Farmhouse, Great for Families
We enjoyed our visit to the Ocean Express! The owners were beyond accommodating by providing pack n plays for the babies staying at the house. We appreciated the fully stocked kitchen. There is heating throughout the house and extra space heaters were available if we needed them. Our families loved the space around the house, which included a swing set. We took many beautiful fall pictures of the family around the house. We enjoyed coffee on the front and back porch in the mornings and the kids loved the game room. It is in a great location with a beautiful winery within walking distance and Camden is only a short drive. We loved exploring the older (but extremely well kept) house and seeing some of the antique fixtures and decor. It was a fun experience for us West coasters! I can't say enough about how accommodating the owners were for our visit. Thanks!

Maine mtns & just 10 mins to lake, harbor and town
This is a great old house with main bedrooms that have good light and breezes and plenty of living spaces for everyone to spread out. The playroom and barn were fun on rainy days, too

Not-So-Charming Farmhouse
When we first entered the house there was a strong musty mildew odor. We opened the windows and turned on several fans, which helped clear the air a bit. However the mildew smell was still detected each time we walked into the house and especially in the game room. As a result we never utilized this space. Also, the floor was on a tilt so the foosball table was propped up with pieces of wood to try and level it. When we first arrived we also noticed a stain on the living room rug that looked and smelled as if it were from a previous guest's pet. The linens and towels also had a strong mildew smell and needed to be laundered prior to use. Several bed pillows were old and worn and look as if they had never been cleaned or covered by pillow protectors.
In the description of the house it was indicated that there was a “fully stocked chef’s kitchen” and that it was supplied “with all the necessary utensils, pots pans, etc that make cooking an enjoyable activity.” However we’ve found that many of the utensils, pots and pans were grimy and need to be washed before using. The knives were dull and did not cut well. There was just a hodge-podge of things that made preparing meals difficult. The cabinets were near empty. There were hardly any spices, only one roll of paper towel, and no toilet paper other than what was on already in the holders. To make matters worse, there are exposed wires under the kitchen cabinets that once went to under cabinet lighting. The lights are gone but the wires and switch are still there. The wires are not capped, so we were concerned of a possible hazard. We also found two broken chairs, one in the living room with a bungee cord holding the legs together and one in the dining room.
From the VRBO pictures, along with the description of being on seven acres of land, it gave the impression that there was ample space around the outside of the property as well as distance from the road. However, this is not the case and is misrepresented. We were disappointed with the proximity of the road to the house and the noise of passing cars. The grass in the areas closest to the house needed to be mowed as it was tall. The area behind the house is overgrown and wooded and hasn’t been mowed in a long time and is completely unusable.
I would never return to this house and caution future renters. It seems the owners have some work to do to make this property the charming farmhouse it has the potential to be.

Comfortable country house close to wonderful food and walks.
We were five in the house: 3 adults, 2 children, and two dogs. The large playroom was wonderful, the kitchen was well stocked and the bedrooms were light filled and comfortable though my son found the double beds a bit small. There were too many mosquitos to enjoy the land around the house but we had lovely family walks at Duck Trap beach and my grandchildren even went swimming. The owners were very helpful and available.

Classic country farmhouse charm.
The property was as described. We had a wonderful stay and felt comfy and cozy during our stay. Far enough off the coast for a quiet stay, but close enough to enjoy all mid coast Maine has to offer.
