Our family has rented this home many times. It’s the perfect degree of comfortable for our family of 4 - and big enough with the 3 sets of bunk beds for our boys to bring along some friends. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen has everything we need. Community pool is nice when it’s hot. Fire pit is fun when there isn’t a fire ban on. We’re heading back in a few weeks!

My kids and I stayed here during spring break and it was the perfect ski cabin retreat. The kids LOVED all the "big bear" things around the home, and the downstairs rustic bear-themed bunk beds were so fun for them! We enjoyed all the games (there are puzzles and ping pong too!) and reading time in the living room. We also got out for some really pretty walks on the trails nearby. The best part.....its location! Such an easy drive for a day of skiing at Meadows!

We left a message to complain. Maintenance guy had called and asked us to take care of garbage b/c he had bad knee. He told us he'd have housekeeping take care of it. We never got a call or visit from housekeeping. Owner text back and offered $100 return. We never even got that. No one followed through. The stench knocked us over going downstairs. Thank goodness the smell stayed down there. The rest of the cabin was great. No complaints, fairly clean, fresh linens, nice location. No idea where the pool was but heard it had one. Trillium Lake was nearby and awesome for swimming this time of year.
Wish someone followed through with downstairs. :( Disappointed. They did not return messages left after trip. It's been over a week. We Will be making formal complaint.

Our family always enjoys renting this cabin. It's big enough for our family of 4 to spread out, and we also enjoy going with another family as the bunk room is enough for six kids, and the tv/pingpong table are also downtstairs. There are two queen bedrooms on the top floor perfect for the parents. And we love the proximity to the river and the many trails to explore. Sitting on the deck listening to the river is one of my personal favorites. In the summer, the community pool and tennis court are an added bonus! This will always be our first choice for a mountain get away!

I love the location and my kids enjoyed the river walks and hikes around the area. The bedroom window does need curtains and also the top floor bathroom door don’t close properly.

Location was great with easy access to a walking path along the river, quiet neighborhood and a house full of toys and games to keep kids occupied.
Kitchen had the basics for cooking, bed were comfortable. While the home was a bit dated everything was in good repair and clean.

We were moved here as our original booking fell through last minute due to some unexpected pests at the original rental property. I would not have picked this on my own as the kitchen was quite outdated. It was dark and had wonky heating but otherwise it met our needs. The bunk room downstairs has 3 bunks and includes the washer/dryer in the same open room and a half bath. This house has two half baths and the only full bath is on the top floor. Come prepared to build a fire if it’s winter. The house was 49degrees when we arrived at 5pm and didn’t heat up until about midnight when we all woke up too hot to keep sleeping. Bring “fire-starters” and wood.
The heat in the play room downstairs didn’t seem to be working. I believe they expect you to heat that room with fire in the wood stove also. The soap dispenser in the dishwasher is broken but I think it still cleaned…we just used extra soap each time to be sure.
The single shower can be a bigger issue if you have anyone unable to go up all the stairs or more than a family or two that are close since there is a lot of space sharing.
Skibowl tubing was the highlight of our trip and the kids loved having their own space downstairs, even if it was chilly.
The kitchen lacked appropriate spatulas for the nonstick pans and needs a better scrubber to clean off scrambled eggs. We tried.
Broom and vacuum appreciated by the front door because the soil and pine needles tracked in like mad if unattended.
No window coverings in several big windows would also help with heat.

The home was well stocked and comfortable. It is limited on beds for more then 4 adults but perfect for two families with kids. Our family loved it and had a great weekend.

Spacious, comfy cabin down by the river.

I love the location and size of the house. Being able to take a short walk outside to the river was really nice. In the photos there was a game space, the foos ball table is broken and the room smelt of musk badly. Luckily I read the reviews before leaving to my trip and brought some candles, but due to the smell we did not use the basement at all for our fellowship.
In the kitchen is a small trash can for food/waste and it will filled up quickly, when trying to look for extra trash bags I was searching high and low and could not find anything. When looking under the sink the cabinets door almost feel off when I opened it.
Everyone besides myself are 6 feel tall and had a hard time being comfortable in the shower. Me being 5’5 had no problem beside the fact the shower head has zero pressure and the tub didn’t look like something I would want to take a hot bath in.
The BBQ was extremely hard to light and was not working properly, we were able to get it going with a long lighter, it was just a little scary to do seeing as the BBQ was supposed to be self lighting.
There was no check out instructions to be found, so I strip the beds and did a load of towels along with washed and put away my dishes best I could.
When we first got there were walking the house there was a candy wrapper on one of the stair cases, what looked like used tissue paper between the upstairs chair and ottoman, and we found 2 bottle caps on the floor between the kitchen and dining room table.
Be careful of the balcony railing, is is very wobbly! Seems intact, but I wouldn’t put a lot of pressure or weight on it.
Again, very cute house. Perfect size for what we were doing. They had a lot of Toiletries for us to use if anything was forgotten, and lots of room for a big gathering. The WIFI was great which was nice for our live steaming. Just small adjustments could make this house top notch.

We were pleasantly surprised that our large group all had showers and had hot water most of the time. There was cleaning supplies and soaps for us to use. Plenty of towels as well. It was very comfortable for our large group. We would definitely stay again.

Nice family get away.
This is our second time at this property and everything was just how we remembered. My boys loved the ping pong table and hockey set. The power went out sometime during our last night, so we didn’t get to enjoy our last morning as much. Not the owners fault, there were high winds that day.

Relaxing get away.
This is our families second year staying in the Mt. Hood area. We love VACASA and their staff. Our stay at Big Bear River Retreat was perfect. The house is in the perfect location to snow activities, it is cozy warm and inviting. The open floor plan made cooking and planning games a whole family affair. Plenty of beds and area for kids to play and sleep. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Cabin needs maintenance
This Cabin needs maintenance. There are a few good things about it but the bad is outweighing the good.
The Bad:
1.The fridge was not working. When maintenance man came out it was 55 degrees inside. That is way too warm. They brought us 2 ice chest and 2 bags of ice to last 4 days.
2.The microwave overheats if you try to cook 3 bags of popcorn, and not all of the buttons work.
3.The light above the door inside as you come in doesn't work.
4.The rec room smells like dog pee, the odor starts to hit you as you are walking down the stairs. The odor is so bad we could not stand to be in this room.
5. The rec room also has exposed wires, beware if you have kids, not that you want them on that carpet that smells like pee.
6. The bunk bed room has a closet that has chemicals like paint, hammers, and other tools, there is no knob on the door and it is not locked. It is dangerous for young kids.
7. The door to the bathroom down stairs doesn't lock.
8. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, they do not have blinds or curtains on the windows. One of the windows you can clearly see the road. When changing clothes privacy is nice.
9. In one of the closets the owner has her clothes, old shoes, and slippers.
10. The hand rail fell off while we were there as well.
11. Clutter; There is clutter every where and some is hazardous. By the bunk bed there is a sled leaning against the wall. Climbing down my daughter hit it with her foot, a board fell off and landed with rusty nails sticking up which she then stepped on.
There is clutter just about everywhere you look; In the kitchen mops, brooms and buckets in one corner and a Vacuum and folding chairs in the other corner. There are Christmas trees in the corners in the rec room. Outside there is stuff laying all over the ground including garbage in the foliage.
The bottom line is that if you are on vacation to relax and enjoy the mountain area, it is really hard to do with all of these issues. I would never rent this house again.
The good:
1.The location is great. There is a trail leading to a sandy bank that is a great spot to build a sand castle and play in the river.
2. You can see the river from the deck.
3. The house is well stocked with towels, sheets, pillowcases, and pots and pans.
4. It is a good size.

There were few issues with the place. Home didn't feel very inviting
Very dark in the living room also. Rooms didn't have blinds though they are facing the street. Kitchen looked cluttered and we left in a better state than what we got it . Kitchen lamp was flickering and turned off completely. So we opened it to check and the bulb came crashing down and broke to pieces.
The house was well stocked with sheets and towels.
Not very great experience, have stayed in better ones.

Great!
We had a fantastic time! Very cozy home and a short walk to the river. Only drawbacks- moldy smell in the basement, bathroom door in basement doesn't close and it would be nice to have blinds or curtains on bedroom windows to block out morning sun (esp in the summer when the sun is up by 5am). But we had a great time and enjoyed our stay!

We had a great time at this home! It's so close to Skibowl and surrounded by beautiful nature.
Everything was super easy and no problems at all.
We got all the information we needed, the house was cozy and clean- the kitchen had enough equipment and we had a great time!
Skibowl was super close and the nature around was nice to take a walk along the little river. We were hiking to the trillium lake and took beautiful pictures and just enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere there.
Highly recommended for a stay! Thank you so much!

Perfect for multiple families
This cozy, unassuming Oregon cabin was perfect for our three families. Felt like going back to a simpler time in our home state. Lots of space for the kids to run around and games for them to play with. The fireplace offered warmth in more ways than one. We didn't realize there was only one shower in a cabin meant for 10 people. Not a problem for us, but could be for some others who didn't pay attention to the details. But all-in-all, a great experience. Thank you.

My twins 6th birthday weekend
I rented this cabin for my twins 6th birthday and I must say it by far exceeded what I thought it was going to be. The house was very big and the surrounding areas were beautiful. There was plenty of space of all of us. They had a great time. I would definitely come back.

Wonderful New Years
This is the second year that we have enjoyed celebrating New Years in this large home. We like that its on a quiet culdesac allowing us to sled and build snow people. We also like walking on the trails and viewing the river.
