About this house rental
The Lake House is a restored 1880's farmhouse nestled on the western slope of Seneca Lake with approximately 400 ft of lakefront and a beach with a firepit and a dock. In the past it has been a Bed and Breakfast. It is very private, surrounded by woods and garden, on 10 acres of land in the midst of The Seneca Wine Trail as well as the growing brewery, distillery, chocolate and cheese trails. The house contains many family heirlooms. it is roomy and has many areas for guests to gather.
If combined with the cottage (#231064) it makes for a nice haven that is especially amenable for reunions and family gatherings. There are many activities to keep you busy on and off the property. In addition to 2 canoes, two kayaks, and paddle boat, there is a firepit on the beach and on the backside of the house. There is swimming and fishing (w/ license) off the dock.
The large front porch is great for lounging, socializing, eating and otherwise taking in your surroundings.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was large enough to accomodate our extended family. Everyone had their own bathrooms. The house was beautifully furnished, clean, and had all the necessary ammenities. The wrap-around porch was perfect for morning coffee and while getting to the lake is a bit of a hike (you can either walk or drive), it's worth it. The lake was beautiful and clean and provided many hours of swimming and lake-related sports. Michele was a courteous and responsive host. Oh, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need to cook meals for large groups.

The house was great for our family of 8 adults, an infant + 2 dogs. There was plenty of rooms and configurations for everyone. The location was convenient to all the local wineries, breweries, farms and restaurants. The DSL internet was very challenging to the members of our group that were working on vacation. Also, having a very large cleaning fee while also being asked to strip the beds and take out the trash (which is down the very long driveway) was disappointing.

Our stay at the Farmhouse was delightful. The house is so nicely decorated and pleasant. It fit my family of 14 and three dogs perfectly. The front porch was truly a center point for us. We ate all of our dinner meals on the porch. Also the downstairs bedroom was used as a den for the kids and they loved being there playing or watching TV. As a host, Michele was attentive to our needs beyond expectation.

We enjoyed our stay and found the location to be beautiful. The house was listed accurately. The owner responded promptly when we reached out with questions. It would’ve been helpful if there was clearer communication regarding paper products. Dishes were put away that were not clean. Cooling on the third floor is a challenge. We loved the size of the house and yard. Our family thoroughly enjoyed it!

Without a doubt, the Lake House was the perfect gathering spot for our family to celebrate multiple recent events, including birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations. Everyone, ranging in age from 70 to 3, had a fantastic time and everyone was thoroughly enchanted by the lovely Lake House!

Our big family got together here for my sister’s college graduation, and it was the ideal spot for us to reconnect and celebrate! The rooms were lovely, tidy, and the kitchen was well appointed. We enjoyed afternoons and evenings on the porch, grilling out, and walking down to the lake to swim and enjoy the kayaks. Our children started running in the large meadow/yard the minute we arrived, playing ball and swinging on the hammock. Thank you to Michele for clear and quick communication. We will hopefully be back!

Great place for a family reunion!

The house is on 5 acres in a secluded area just above the lake. There is a beautiful walk down to the shore as well. The house is incredibly well kept and we spent almost all day sitting on the massive porch on the front of the house. The kitchen was large with a Wolf stove and there were plenty of rooms and bathrooms. My family was so happy and would come again! Our host made everything easy and the location of the house made it easy to get to the wineries, Watkins Glen and fantastic restaurants.

6 College roommates plus spouses or SO gathered. We were looking for a place with 6 bedrooms, and many bathrooms. This one caught our eye. We are very glad we made the choice. Everything was perfect for our long weekend! Close to lots of fun things to do. We enjoyed late afternoon snacks on the beautiful front porch. Rooms were perfect! We plan to come back next year!

Plenty of space to gather or for private time alone. Great location to a lot of the wineries and activities. Beds are all wonderful. Bathrooms and hot water supply was fantastic. Well equipped. (Except note that bath towels are not provided.) Access to the house involves steps or small hill that might be difficult for some with large luggage. Trek to the lake is not easy. The yard is large and sloped and the walk to the stairs is long and sloped and then the 76 stairs are a challenge. But, it is worth it. It's a beautiful spot on the lake. (Can't see the lake from the house because of the trees.)

The farmhouse and the separate rental cabin on the property were perfect for our large family of 17 to vacation together. We had 4 family units and had a marvelous time! The main house was delightful, with plenty of space for privacy and for gatherings. We enjoyed the massive front porch and comfy furniture the most as a family gathering spot. We all hiked the Glen, made a day trip to Niagara Falls, enjoyed the lake (yes, it’s a bit of a trek for us older folks but really not bad), sampled wine at some of the many wineries right on the road up the hill, enjoyed big family dinners in the wonderful kitchen, big card games around the dining room table, and slept like babies. We felt very at home, and everyone fully enjoyed their stay.

I thought we were on the water but were a little bit away. Walk to water was pretty steep, but the house was great. Great lawn for games and big hose. I brought many more kitchen items than needed as everything was there. We were 5 couples, all had great bed rooms and baths.

The grounds/lawn enormous, great for dogs and games. The farm house lay out is good, spacious with very nice bedrooms. Spent a lot of time on large porch. Not too hard to walk across lawn to back corner and then down steps to gorgeous grassy area, beach, dock and water toys. Great waterfront view. However 73 steps and hill going back up can be difficult for some No water view from house. I loved this house and we had a wonderful vacation. Host was responsive and friendly.

This property was perfect for our multi-generational family vacation. Lots of unique spaces inside and out to have quiet time and come together as a big group. Lake access hike is an adventure, but the availability of the canoes and kayaks from the property was super convenient. Great location for exploring the finger lakes. Would stay again and recommend!

We enjoyed everything about our visit!

The property looked spectacular online and it was everything and more in person. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, utensils and appliances. There were 11 of us and we were able to cook meals with everything provided. The house was clean and decorated beautifully. We are already talking about another getaway at the Farmhouse in the near future.

The property is just as advertised. There was a water tank failure in the well system that we discovered at check-in. The management handled it immediately. We prepared Thanksgiving dinner for seven and the kitchen was easily up to the task. Everybody brought too much food with them to fix. Don't shop on an empty stomach! It was easy to get in and out of the property and we took a few side trips while we were there. We saw the Glen Curtis museum and the Corning glass museum - one of us wants to come back and spend more time at the Corning glass museum. A visit to the the dock and lakeside area is not for sissies but it is impressive. I am sure it would look much better in the springtime. None of us would have a problem staying here again.

Our group had a great time in this Victorian house. We were meeting for our 30th anniversary of getting together following college. 13 of us spent a long weekend together in the house. It is very convenient to Watkins Glen and wineries on the western side of Seneca Lake. The kitchen handled our needs. The bedrooms were good with comfortable beds. We loved the front porch and gazebo - great to hang out in when the weather is alright. Lastly, Michele was great through booking to check in to check out.

We are 8 women who came to enjoy the local wineries. The house allowed everyone to have thier own bed and most everyone to have their own room. It was very spacious. The home was well stocked and met our needs. Thank You!!

Beautifully located! Everything we wanted and much more. The front porch was our favorite place! The number of bathrooms per bedrooms make our stay very comfortable and private. Thinking to make our stay a yearly event ! Our host Michelle was very helpful when needed.

This was truly an amazing vacation my kids and my grandkids had giant smiles on their faces the whole time it was a trek to get to the lake but you go down in the morning and come back up in the evening so it wasn't all to hard on us older folk. The supplied kayaks, canoes and large group float were just amazing fun I really want to thank the hostess for allowing us to have such a fantastic time

Beautiful house- nice porch. We spent most of the time on the porch. We were unable to go down to the water due to our age, but the younger kids were able and had fun. Great vacation- our daughter had a marriage proposal! We will never forget this vacation.

We had a wonderful week at Lake Senecca at the farmhouse. There were 11 of us (age 3 - 69) and plenty of rooms and beds for us all, more than enough space for the children to run and play, and so much to enjoy in the surrounding area. Michele was very helpful with any questions. We would definitely stay there again.

Tons of space for a large family. Plenty of space for all to find a quiet corner or sit together on the huge porch for coffee or wine.

Perfect Place for Relaxing
Besides providing the relaxing, down-home atmosphere, this is a great home base for exploring the Finger Lakes area. Just a short car ride to Ithaca to visit Cornell University's lovely campus and to Corning to experience the Glass Museum.
Our kids and grandkids spent several hours playing in Lake Seneca and on the really big lawn area near the house. The fireflies brought a pretty amazing after-dusk view from the porch.
The house was as advertised - what we expected and what we hoped for. The host, Michele, answered all of our questions - even the dumb ones - with patience, honesty, and a great sense of humor. She is a gem.
Balance or stamina challenges need to be considered if getting to and from the lake are critical. other than that caution, we have no hesitancy in highly recommending the Lake House.

charming property
Very nice and spaceous house; rooms with private baths; well appointed kitchen; wonderful patio. The property also has expansive field, excellent for dogs to run and play. Our family was there for a wedding but we stayed longer to visit the area. We came with three dogs (one vey old), two of them playful. We visited the little charming town, wineries and beautiful parks to hike.. Overall, we would come back if we come back to the area.

Thanksgiving Family Gathering
The home was lovely and several of us were very interested in the property history and the genealogy of the owners. We read all the laminated news articles and then delved in deeper to research the artist and portraits of the paintings..especially on the wall on the hallway. It was so interesting we found ourselves trying to piece things together. I don’t think there was a book or picture we failed to review. We wished the Michelle was there to fill in the story Lol.

Family reunion
The house worked very well for our group of 9. As other reviews stated the walk to the lake was definitely challenging for the older adults. When we contacted Michele about various problems she responded quickly to try to fix the issues.
The kyaks, canoes and paddle boats were a wonderful feature. In the future, enough life vests are needed if all the boats are being use at the same time.
Thanks for a great family vacation.

Perfect!
We had our family reunion here and it was just perfect! Plenty of space for gathering! Need to be fit to get to the lake, but definitely good exercise! Front porch is amazing!

Lovely old home near wineries
We really enjoyed our stay at this house - plenty of room for 10 of us, including teens, young adults and adults. There were some issues with the appliances, and the lakefront is a LONG way from the house, but the owner was very responsive and was working diligently to have the appliances fixed. Overall, it is a lovely house close to wineries, Watkins Glen, and 45 minutes from Ithaca, and we would stay there again.

Family Vacation
This is a wonderful property for a large family gathering. The kitchen is very well equipped, the HVAC and furnishings are comfortable. While the foundation plantings around the perimeter of the home are currently overgrown, the overall appearance is as shown and described in the listing with plenty of outside space for kids to play. The owner is readily accessible and responsive to issues. The location is perfect to immerse yourself in the Finger Lakes wine culture and close to a decent 9 hole golf course. The Glenn Curtiss Museum in Hammonsport is also a must see in the area.

Lovely spot
With a large yard, plenty of bedrooms AND plenty of bathrooms, this was a great spot for our extended family to stay. It was centrally located for hiking in state parks and visiting the small towns in the area. As the listing states, it is a steep walk to the lake and lake access is shared with a small cabin on the property. The large front porch for relaxing and reading was a huge hit.

Beautiful private location
This house was perfect for a family reunion. The second cottage provided the right amount of space so that entire extended family of 17 could stay. Walk to beach is arduous but ou 5 year olds managed it without complaints. The reward is a private beach

We thought the property was a great size for our group. We were supposed to be more but some people couldn’t attend, so we ended up being a smaller group but we were able to distribute ourselves among the bedrooms quite nicely. AC in each room was excellent as it was hot this weekend! Overall we enjoyed the experience. Michele was great in getting back to me in an appropriate amount of time when we couldn’t find the house keys or AC remote. Just a note to future vacationers; bring your own shampoo & towels, we had forgotten that towels were not part of the contract; perhaps having a reminder before we arrived might have been nice from the owner. Also, beds are not made and per the contract can be made but we opted out of that cost as well. It’s also a little tough to make sure all the chores are done that need to be done before checking out at 10am, so plan accordingly. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boat on the lake as well. Thanks for a fun stay
