Very clean and comfortable. Rustic, what you would expect for an old mountain cabin. Have rented before and probably will again.

Nice forest setting and not too far from the river, but cabin is well worn and sparse. No amenities.

This is such a cozy cabin! In a quiet neighborhood with other cozy cabins. Quick walk to the river and nearby good restaurants.

That was the best part for us who need to stay near the Mt for a sled dog race! We run Eurohounds, with less hair and live inside with us!!

We enjoyed all the trees and the sound of rushing water. We loved the retro board games too.
The only not so great was the fact that the cleaners had used fabric softener on the towels, making them super soft but not so great for drying off.

The cabin itself was very cute and rustic. Unfortunately, it was not a good stay. Check in is at 4pm so we had about 30 minutes before it got dark. The house was freezing which I anticipated so we packed warm and I brought 2 down comforters and a few throw blankets. All the heat was completely off so I turned on the gas fireplace and turned on the space heaters. The space heaters could only be plugged into designated outlets, which there was one in each of the downstair bedrooms, the bathroom and the dining area. My daughter who is very ill (this is why we are doing bucket list things for her right now) got so cold that she began to have her symptoms flare so when this happens, she takes a hot bath or shower. Well, she went in to take a shower and the glass door is missing so we went the 3 days without a shower. The next day we actually found the shower door in one of the downstairs bedroom closets. It was apparently broke. It was very icey and dark so I didn’t feel comfortable driving into town to get wood or presto logs for the fireplace so we huddled in one of the bedrooms down stairs until it was time to go to bed. I didn’t have room in my vehicle to take wood up with us which is what I highly recommend.
There was a sign that said pets are not to get on the furniture which was fine because our dogs don’t get on the furniture at home. Unfortunately, someone did allow there dogs so there was dog hair or some sort of pet hair all over the love seat and on the pillows. There were things on the floor as if it wasn’t swept or vacuumed. Outside there were 3 bags of garbage in the back yard right next to the door and a pile of cigarette butts near the front entrance. We don’t smoke so that was a bit disgusting. The handrail in the stairs is not secure and would not hold if someone needed to use it. The top stair was very wobbly and needed to be repaired. I blocked the stairs because I didn’t even feel safe for my dogs to try and go up onto the top step.
There was also a rather large hole in the linoleum in the kitchen. It was definitely a hazard and someone could easily trip on it. There is a small tv in the living room that the sound only worked once we logged into our Netflix. Lastly, the ice wasn’t cleared away in the front so you were walking on ice from the door to the car in which my daughter fell when we were leaving yesterday and now I have to take her to get X-rays today on her elbow and wrist.
It saddens me to leave this review. Since my daughter got so sick, we’ve been staying in a lot of different places so we could make beautiful memories. I’ve never had an experience quite like this. The cabin itself is fabulous.. it just needs repair work and a good cleaning.

I was hard to find a place nearby that would allow more than one dog. (We had 2) It was definitely on the rustic side but I lived in the area for many years & kinda knew what to expect. Very close to Skyway for good BBQ & breakfast at Zigzag Mountain Cafe.

The house was as expected and had lots of charm. The beds were terribly uncomfortable for everyone in our group. We will not be renting this cabin again for that reason. The fenced backyard was nice and my chihuahua’s were safe from getting loose.

Sooo disappointed. Got there and the place was so cold. I get it’s November, but seriously I should have been warned that none of the heating units they provide don’t actually give any heat out. I booked this cabin to get away from everything and everyone, besides my doggies . Unfortunately when I got there the tv ( which is the size of a computer monitor) was unplugged , nothing worked (no signal). Called, phone call dropped, decided not to waste my time trying to make that work, watched movies on my iPad for the evening. Tried charging IPad next day. No can do. Apparently there is not enough power to charge. After 40 mins was up 1%. I ended up spending over $200 on firewood just to keep warm, and that all I felt like I was doing! Not fun. Not relaxing in any way. Best part was the fenced yard for my dogs. Maybe in the summer it’s better, but I’d save my money for something legit if I were you.

The cabin is in a nice location close to the river. It is rustic in every sense with wood paneling and uneven floors. Other reviews talk about how cold it is and we should have listened. It took a good 24 hours for the place to warm up. It never got warm enough not to wear a sweatshirt. They do not have wood for the fireplace. You can buy it at the Thriftway that is close by. It cost us an extra 75 dollars for wood to help heat the place. If renting this cabin in the winter bring wood with you to save money and be ready for a rustic adventure

This cabin is amazing, built in the 20's it has all the charm and is spotless! It is a grand old gal, with quirks all her own, but a lovely, quiet place to relax. Beds were comfy, kitchen stocked better than my own! Wonderful places to walk and just steps from the Zig Zag River... Pop down to the Zig Zag Cafe for an amazing breakfast.

We were pleased with the cabin but we could not figure out how to turn on the gas stove in the living room. The space heater were not adequate. Other than that we had a good time together.

My Wife and I stayed with our elderly dog, and loved how quiet and peaceful the property was the entire trip. We loved swinging the windows open and listening to the nearby Zig Zag River. There were plenty of little river bank trails with river access points. We made plenty of lasting memories with our doggy, and thoroughly enjoyed our entire stay! Will definitely be back!

We were informed we couldn’t check in on time one-hour prior to check in. Property was infested with spiders with cobwebs in every corner and windowsill. We left 2 1/2 days early and haven’t heard back from management about a refund. A horrible experience that ruined our family holiday. Both kids have spider bites that are swollen the size of a golf ball and painful. Undoubtedly the worst experience we’ve had.

We stayed here for a wedding with some other guests. It was smaller than expected but worked out fine. The two bedrooms downstairs are VERY small. Mattresses aren't great. The stairs are steep and very creaky. One of the guests had very slight mobility issues and said "I hate these stairs, man". With 4 adults, the thin walls were very apparent. The living room furniture is pretty old, and windows are difficult to open and don't have screens. I tried to open the one in the bedroom and stopped because I was afraid I would break it. Some of the house is in disrepair, but just cosmetic things.
On the positive side, the location is nice. It's in a neighborhood of cabins like is typical of the area. The creek is very close and easy to get to, and there is a nice path that goes along it. A bar with BBQ and live music is walking distance. Just a 10 minute drive up to ski bowl and government camp. The kitchen is a good size and well stocked. We really appreciated the ease of check out. Just had to start the dishwasher, but nothing else was asked of us. Check out was at 10am, which is a little early, but I get it. Plenty of linens and towels.
Overall, the cabin had the nice rustic feel I look for when I stay in the area. We didn't spend a ton of time there since we were at a wedding. It was a good place to crash. If I was looking for a place to get cozy and relax on snowy days, I would probably pick someplace a little more comfortable.

Great location near Mirror Lake (& Tom Dick and Harry) and Ramona Falls trails. Full size grocery store minutes away makes it easy to cook in the VERY well stocked kitchen. Right off the Mt Hood Hwy yet in a very quiet and peaceful setting.

Nice weekend with family
We were able to have an old fashioned weekend of walks, games, and just being together. The cabin was very rustic but comfortable except for being cold. I stayed up most of the nights to keep the fire going in the fireplace so the children didn’t get cold. Bring plenty of firewood.

Quirky cabin in a beautiful wooded setting
We stayed here with 2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 8) and there is a fun little loft area that the kids enjoyed, and where guests can sleep. (But I wouldn't really recommend for kids under 5 or so - steepish bare wooden stairs and a wooden bridge on the loft might give me heartburn with younger kids). It's a nicely laid out and surprisingly spacious place. As other reviews mention, it was very cold. But the beds all had nice warm blankets so that even so, all of us stayed warm at night.

Home was great, but chilly
Hey there. The home was sweet and cabiny, which is just what we wanted. But it reeked of cigarettes. There were butts all over the front porch when we arrived. Handyperson Kristopher was very helpful, he was there fixing the shower when we arrived and he took the garbage away which was piled up behind the house. All the heaters worked but it took 24hrs to heat the building up we saw our breath inside the whole first night. Besides that we loved it. Though the wifi never worked. We disconnected it many times but it always said "connected, no internet". We checked out at 9:45 but with no wifi, I couldn't respond to the check-out email until 1 PM. Thanks!

Rustic cabin, real historic
Great cabin at the base of Mt Hood. Authentic hundred years old cabin. Live like a hundred years ago.
Be sure to take wood in the cooler times. Plan for it before you go. But enjoy the primitive nature of the area.

Quirky charm on the mountain
We adore this cute little cabin in the woods. It is full of character and just what we wanted for a cozy family gathering. As other reviewers have said, it was chilly in there and it is very hard to warm the place up. We bought a lot of firewood and this did the job, but of course it took time and attention. There is also a propane heating stove but the fan on it didn’t seem to work so you had to be inches away from it to feel the warmth. There are some electric portable heaters but most were ineffective. We wished they would pare down the furniture in the dining/kitchen area to make it easier to move around the table when people are seated. My kids were disappointed that the board games were missing pieces and unusable. Despite these little issues we still loved the place and had a wonderful family time together. We will definitely return!

Darling cabin!
The cabin straight out of a story book, so charming! Good amount of space for 2 couples, and could fit more for sure!
The biggest downside was how cold it was. There were several small space heaters around that never quite did the trick. Make sure and bring lots of firewood to keep a fire burning during most of your visit if it's in the winter months. My only other comment is suggesting they upgrade the beds and pillows. The beds are on the hard side and extra squeaky, and the pillows are close to flat. All this said, I'd still stay there again, just maybe pack warmer clothes and my own pillow for next time ;)

The hot water was not warm and it did not last long and the shower door would fall off its track w.
Nice place to stay it is close to the river. Did a small hike there and went to local do site seeing. Folks there are very nice.

Quaint Cabin in the Woods
We enjoyed our stay at Old Smokey Cabin. The location was lovely and the cabin itself was cozy and charming. There were several maintenance issues that should have been taken care of before we arrived. The price per night that was listed turned out to be only half of what we paid after all the added fees. That is not honest advertising. We were glad to have the time at this cabin but for the cost and the maintenance issues we would not return.

Comfy cozy cabin
We loved our stay in this cute old cabin! Sure there are some quirks (like spacing out showers for hot water, dog size hole in the fence should be blocked with something before letting dog out) but if you go in good spirits knowing it’s an adorable old cabin in a cool/wet PNW forest it’s pretty awesome. In late September it was plenty warm with the provided heaters, showers were warm (only 2 of us) and everything we used worked fine. Got to see the giant fish jumping up stream to spawn nearby while we were here! Within 20 mins of numerous great hiking trails. Would recommend.

Yes, the bathroom is in need of some help, but it did not detract from this very old cabin being the coziest, most authentic cabin of yesteryear. It instantly felt like home with our great grandparents. So quiet. The period furniture and decor throughout transported us back in time. Truly a very special place to drop out, We made every breakfast and dinner in the well-equipped kitchen (do your grocery shopping ahead) which allowed us tender mornings and restful evenings by the pot belly stove fire. We would love to go back sometime. Ahhh.

Catfishing your Vrbo profile isn't any cooler than catfishing your dating profile
...People always notice when they get there that you misrepresented yourself, & it feels dishonest & disappointing.
Using a wide angle lens & brightening the photos to make them look more appealing is just lame. The photos really make it look much nicer than it is.
My partner & I lovvve romantic rustic cabins in the forest. We used to live in one near this area--This cabin is not one of those.
Aesthetic is weak, cabin is SOOO DARK & cold, even in the middle of July. Much more like abandoned late grandma's cabin rather than romantic getaway.
There are heaters, some of which work, some which don't. Not having hot water was an unwelcome surprise, especially in the cold cabin. They did call us after we left to ask if we had hot water, bc the people after us complained, but that didn't change the fact that our stay was cold & dark.
We bought several hundred dollars worth of food at a co-op in Eugene before arriving, & then next morning found that the fridge was so cold that it had frozen & ruined most of our vegetables.
Toilet was running the entire time we were there, at one point flooded the bathroom out of nowhere, when there was hardly anything in it. That was a disaster & oh so fun to deal with.
Lied about laundry, says there's coin-op laundry on-site, which seemed strange for a cabin, but on our last night before continuing our travels & having lots of laundry to do, we couldn't find a washer/dryer anywhere. I searched on the app & found it said "laundry mat in Rhodadendron". So.. you don't have laundry. Just say you don't have laundry. Why be so misleading?
The lockbox was quite difficult to open when we arrived. Couldn't figure out how to start the dishwasher that they asked us to start before leaving. Lids for pans & tupperware would be great, otherwise very well-stocked kitchen.
Cabin 100% doesn't sleep 8 people. Beds to sleep 8 people, yes, but not the physical space. Bedrooms are tiny & claustrophobic, w/very little storage/walking space, table only seats 4-6, & there's only one very tiny bathroom. There were only 2 of us so it was fine, just another thing that felt like false advertising to get more sales. 6 is the absolute max you'd want here, even that would be tight.Surrounding area was beautiful, backyard was sweet.
Overall incredibly overpriced & falsely advertised. Also please wait til last day rather than mid vacation to email us telling us our stay is almost over & how to help, felt like rude server rushing us out.

Magical mountain cabin
From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we loved this place. Our dogs did, too! It was absolutely perfect for us and remained cool inside during the hot weather. Great location.
It falls short of five stars for us only because of the shower. Water did take a few minutes to heat up and pressure was low, but serviceable for a few days stay.
It felt spacious, homey and comfortable and we hope to come back!

Musty Cabin with No Hot water
This is a really cute property and it could be great, but it needs a little TLC. When we walked in the door, the house smelled Musty and damp and the smell would not go away until you opened the windows for a while. Everytime we left and locked up, the smell came right back. We had no hot water the whole time we were there and the toilet backed up twice, Cold or Tepid showers are not really my thing. The property is gorgeous, but i am not sure that i would recommend this house. My parents stayed with us and they were really not happy. The property managers were always on top of everything, so that was good. I think I way overpaid for a house that smelled awful, had no hot water and in the 1st floor bedroom near the door, had spider webs and spiders behind the dresser. Disappointing.
