About this cottage rental
Pets welcome upon approval. This 5 bedroom cedar cottage with a queen size pull out in the living room has WIFI throughout as well as TV DVD in all bedrooms. This family home has been upgraded with new Air-Conditioning, new furnace, new pump, additional cupboards in the kitchen for pantry storage, 2 refrigerators in the kitchen, newly renovated bathrooms and continuation of our lovely landscaping with gradual steps to the boathouse. We have added a housekeeper as well as property manager that can help you at any time.
This lovely property has short 6 steps leading you down from the parking area across an interlocking brick pathway to the Lake Muskoka Cottage entrance.
The lovely Lake Muskoka views begin right away and follow you throughout this 2 level cottage with bedrooms on both levels.
Unloading is a breeze as there is a large entrance way to hold belongings as you get ready to settle in.
The kitchen is handy right beside the front door. Here you will find all the necessary appliances -2 fridges, stove, dishwasher and microwave, even a washer and dryer tucked into large cupboards - for some that may mean out of sight, out of mind! The beautiful Italian stone flooring brings the idea of nature inside.
As you stand at the sink you will notice the huge picture window that looks out on the tall cedar trees and a large granite boulder - you are in Muskoka after all. A cedar lined wall compliments the lovely new pebble stone tile flooring.
The other direction from the front door leads you into the living room which has a cathedral ceiling and a lovely granite wood burning fireplace.
Atop the mantle sits a flat screen TV and DVD player. Comfortable couches and chairs make this room very cozy and inviting. There is a desk here as well in case you need to access the wireless internet.
Next you can't help but notice the gorgeous dining room and sitting room area that has a Lake Muskoka view in 3 different directions. The outer wall is all windows, most complete with screens to let in the lovely fresh Muskoka air. The dining table seats everyone comfortably, the sitting area has 3 couches and there is even a round table with 3 wickers chairs that beckons you for morning coffee.
The master bedroom with a queen sized bed and a 4 piece en suite bathroom is on this main level as well. A large window affords a Lake Muskoka view from the bed and small ceiling height windows above the bed allow the natural light to flow in.
A stairway from the living room leads up to the second level. These stairs are carpeted with the same carpeting that is throughout the cottage. This continuity is welcoming and very tasteful.
There are 4 bedrooms upstairs - 3 with queen sized beds and one with a single bed, as well as a double pull out. Once you are on the landing the open concept design allows you to look down on the living room and windows in the cathedral peak let in tons of natural light and a view that is straight up Lake Muskoka. The newly renovated bathroom on this level is a 3 piece with a shower. There is also a powder room with toilet and sink on the ground level.
There is plenty of closet space and windows giving lovely views of either the trees or the lake from each of these bedrooms.
There are 2 pull out sofas- one on each floor for extra sleeping arrangements ( queen size in living room and double size upstairs)
Let's head outside across the interlocking brick patio and get closer to the lake we have been seeing since we arrived.
Outdoor furniture on this patio makes a great spot to sit and watch the children play on a flat rock that leads us onto the dock of a brand new double boathouse. You can jump off the dock here into the lake where the depth at the end of the dock is about 5-6'. On top is a 31x26' deck - and a hot tub!
Additional patio furniture can be enjoyed here while you admire the delightful view of Lake Muskoka.
Also along the water front is another dock where you could tie up a boat if you chose to rent from the nearby marina. Swimming is possible from this dock as well as the two swim rafts. Enjoy the sunset from the boathouse deck and start planning for tomorrow - shall we take out the paddleboat or kayaks or canoe or stand up paddleboard (SUP) here at the cottage or head over for an historic ride on the Segwun Steamship, only a short 10 minute drive away.
This is a cottage where family memories are made.

This was our 6th year of taking our kids and grandkids to a cottage. This cottage did not disappoint. Spent most of our week at the water. Between the dock and boathouse, we had beautiful views of Lake Muskoka. There was ample space at the docks and on the boathouse roof so all of us could enjoy our family week. Thank you for an amazing week!

It was the most amazing cottage I’ve ever stayed at. Thank you for sharing your lovely property with us.
If the opportunity arises would definitely rent it again!

Beautiful setting!
Wonderful experience for everyone in our family. Loved having the kayaks, paddle board, and area above the boat house was sublime. Wished the kitchen was just a little larger and that it wasn’t so difficult to deal with food waste in the sink, but otherwise loved every minute! Really appreciate the responsiveness to our questions.

Muskoka Bliss
This property has a great deal to offer families. The outdoor spaces are incredible. The deck on top of the boathouse is the star of the show with a hot tub, huge table for meals, and plenty of reclined lounge chairs to enjoy the afternoon sun or a gorgeous sunset. If the sun is too hot for comfort there is a second large seating area below with another large table that is shaded most of the time. There is even a seating area just outside the door surrounding the propane grill. Although not featured in any of the pictures, this area turned out to be of great benefit to our group. The men would often sit here to enjoy a beer while cooking dinner on the barbecue, leaving the women to enjoy their own conversation indoors.
Other reviewers mentioned that the abundance of furniture made the indoor space feel crowded. This was not a problem for our group of 8 adults and one small child. If anything we appreciated being able to gather all together for a movie or an indoor meal. The architecture of the house, with many non-right angles, seemed to dictate furniture placement to some degree. Even the stairs entered the living space at an angle. If there were people gathered in one area, you could always reverse direction and enter the kitchen from the opposite side.
One thing I always appreciate in a week-long rental is an attention to decoration that promotes conversation relevant to the area. This place abounded in such opportunities. From the perfect scale models of actual historical Muskoka steamships, to the beautiful eagle statue, to the faces that personified the trees with an ancient, mystical character - there was always an opportunity for conversation, intrigue, or just quiet reflection.
Being so close to Gravenhurst I was initially concerned that boat traffic would be a problem. It turns out that there is an island in front of the cottage that is perfectly placed to keep boats on the deep water side, leaving the water in front of the boathouse and dock safe for swimmers. Even on the days when high winds would have dissuaded all but the largest boats from the big water of Lake Muskoka, our little section of Muskoka bay remained reasonably calm and navigable.
Donna was a marvelous host during our stay, always available to answer any questions we had. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week of Muskoka bliss! Thank you Donna!

Family Fun
We spent a week at ViewPoint with our 4 adult children and their families. The access to the water from many different locations was a hit with the kids. Dock was great for family suppers. Boathouse provided a spectacular view and hot tub gatherings. The floating docks were perfect and we spent many hours jumping and playing in the water. The grandchildren enjoyed the daily visits by mama duck and her ducklings. Trista was easily accessible and responded to all inquiries quickly. Wonderful family time.

Excellent both Indoor/Outdoor
We had two family's up for the week and had a mix of sun and rain. Cottage had several indoor spaces to accommodate adults and kids. The outdoor area is outstanding with the multiple docks and boat house that included a hot tub. Only minutes from downtown Gravenhurst.

Great Spot in Muskoka
I stayed here for a week with my teenagers and parents. The cottage is kept very clean and the owner was easy to reach and work with. The waterfront is also beautiful and well-kept.

Terrific Family Cottage
Very convenient location, wonderful outdoor space, well-equipped kitchen, and lots of seating--an excellent cottage for a multi-generational family vacation.

Great stay, with a few caveats
We had two families (nine people) stay for one week.
The good:
The waterfront is excellent, 11 out of 10. The water gets deep fast, but the children, aged seven to ten, all had a great time swimming with their life jackets on. We spent most of the days down by the water and it was beautiful. It was awesome to see the sun set over the lake. It was also really nice that the cottage is so close to town, it was easy to shop and get groceries.
Could improve:
As another reviewer mentioned, there is alot of furniture in the house, most of which is fairly old. There are also alot of old kitchen utensils. Its not such a big deal though, it causes the space to feel slightly cluttered but it did not negatively impact our stay. The clothes dryer was also broken and there wasn't enough clothes line outside to hang up a load of laundry.
Our biggest complaint was the property manager. She was a nice lady, and helpful when we asked, but she honestly showed up almost every day... often unannounced. It felt like an invasion of our privacy and that she was checking-in on us. On the last day, she arrived early (before checkout) and started cleaning. It felt like we were being rushed and our privacy was not respected. Of all the rentals I have done, I have never seen this type of behaviour before.

Memorable stay
This place was awesome! We had 11 people from age 67 to 1. The kitchen was not pictured on the site and was small for our size group with all the cooking we did , but was well-stocked and the house was very clean.
The star of Viewpoint is the exterior space and all the amenities.
The grounds are beautiful and private , with flowers everywhere and it’s on a point with views all around . There were many water toys -pedal boat, kayaks , stand up paddleboard . Two docks with chairs for seating and dining , and also above the boathouse, a hot tub, dining and seating. There were two rafts and the kids loved swimming there ( life jackets provided) and diving off of it - they never even used the playground.
There was not a sandy slope to the beach but there was a small sandy area where the younger kids played.
Inside had some wonderful views as well, and lots of comfortable seating.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather -it was warm enough to swim but not so hot we needed the A/C . Lots of sun too. There was only one day of rain on the way up there.
Being from Colorado , we aren’t used to those mosquitoes at dusk but the owner does use a natural garlic spray on the shrubbery to hopefully repel them.
Donna was very responsive to any questions or concerns that I had, as was her housekeeper Niki.
We even went duckpin bowling at a nearby town , something none of us have ever experienced before and it was a blast.

Very nice waterfront
We had a great stay and the property has a wonderful waterfront set-up, with great outdoor space.
The indoor space was not as great -- the cottage has too much furniture in general, which made getting around more difficult than it had to be. The dishwasher was very temperamental and took us several days and a visit from the property manager to make operable. There were no sharp knives at all, and, in general, some of the kitchen items (like the salad spinner, some of the utensils) could use an update.
We also had a problem with the upstairs bathroom -- it was leaking into the master bedroom. We ended up having to stop using the upstairs bathroom, and, with 10 people in a cottage (and 4 of the rooms located on that floor) that made things much more difficult to manage than we had been anticipating.
Still, the overall stay was great, and the waterfront simply can't be beat.
