The unit is just fine. The coffee maker on the counter didn't work but there was another one in the cupboard, so that worked out okay. Also, the pool and gym keys didn't work and the gym thermostat didn't work in the club facilities. No view, but everything was adequate. They are strict about checking in at 4pm, yet we were not sent the code until I called a few minutes after 4pm. The manager was immediately responsive and friendly.

Starr Pass is beautiful, the views, the property amenities, accessibility, and more. The two-bedroom casita is clean, spacious, and well-equipped adding to a fantastic relaxing vacation. It looks just like the pictures. We would recommend and rent this exact casita again. The host is quick to respond, friendly, and provides tips and more to enhance the vrbo experience.

Great for us and our son with his girlfriend. We hiked and enjoyed the start pass area. Great spot! Melanie, our host, was very helpful and pleasant.

Great place to stay! Everything was just as expected. Easy check-in process, clean property. Melanie responded quickly to all our questions. Definitely one of the best rentals we have booked. Recommend highly!!

Last minute holiday stay to visit relatives. 4 adults and 1 teen, plenty space for us but couldn’t fit another. The property had everything we needed, nice small gym, beautiful pool for lap
Swimming and so many trail heads for hiking!

Working - Home away from Home
The property is described well and represented what we were looking for while away from home & family. The photos illustrate and depict the property well. Melanie was always professional and communicated promptly with us. We rarely used all the amenities in the area but we did use the nearby pool and the restaurant at the nearby Marriott. The vacation property is comfortable and offered everything we needed. The beds are always subjective and so I'm careful not to scrutinize it much. My coworker added a padded mattress cover to his bedroom and slept much better afterwards. I would recommend Melanie's property to anyone who is looking for serenity out of the city and near hiking trails and other amenities described in the listing.

Fantasic Mini Vacation!
My spouse and I stayed here for a few days for some R&R and had a wonderful time. The casita is as-advertised, the check-in process couldn't have been easier, and Melanie was always on hand to answer any questions we had. We spent mornings out on the deck soaking in the sun, reading and watching the wildlife. The casita is very private and yet close to everything Starr Pass has to offer. The bed was extremely comfortable, too. Thank you Melanie for such a wonderful stay!

Great unit, amazing location
The unit is on the edge of the developed land next to Tucson Mountain Park. We did multiple hikes from the Starr Pass Trailhead (which we could walk to from the unit) that ranged from relatively easy to longer hikes with lunch and lots of water. I bird, and the best birding of the trip was from the porch of this unit (Gambles Quail, Phainopepla, Verdin, Cactus Wrens, Gila Woodpeckers, Curved-billed Thrashers, a Swainson's Hawk in the bush, Greater Roadrunner, Vermilion Flycatcher, Say's Phoebe, White-winged Dove, Costa's Hummingbird...). And, the location has a wide range of solid SW restaraunts under 20 minute drive - fantastic food choices. We also liked that the kitchen was well stocked with good knives, even LeCrueset bakeware and coffee cups.
The back patio, with the umbrella for sun protection, was really an extra functional room for us - we used it every day. It has a small area before the road, so you feel some isolation from others and it is peaceful. I had originally wanted to stay closer to the Saguaro National Park, but we drove to the NP one day and I think the trails right out the back door of this unit are as good as those in the National Park as long as you want to hike a bit.
As a side note, we don't golf, but there is ready access to 3 9-hole courses, and the key cards worked for the pool that we would have used if we were traveling with our kids when they were young that also included access to a weight room with a wide range of machines but no free weights.
We would stay here again if we were traveling back to the Tucson area!

Great location Great Host
Casita located within 1/4 mile of Starr Pass trailhead, access to pool which is hardly used, short walk to shuttle up the hill to another set of trails and access to resort restaurants….. for an active family it was a perfect place to stay for a week. 15 minutes from downtown to hip eateries and city bike rides… couldn’t ask for ease of access Host very responsive and addressed all items with cheer and urgency.

Very nice space with well stocked kitchen
We enjoyed seeing birds, deer and javelinas off the patio. Quick walk to the pool and golf shop. Unfortunately the hot tub wasn’t hot, but not the owners issue. No bbq or fireplace available so plan cooking accordingly. The unit is super clean too.

Missing Melanie's casita already!
The casita was perfect for our 10-day stay in Tucson. First, its location in Starr Pass is ideal - close to downtown and yet removed from all that busy activity, and peaceful and packed with views and walking or hiking opportunities. We were able to swim each day in the Starr Pass pool., just a couple of minutes' walk. When we didn't feel like traveling downtown, we walked to the Catalina grill. Many days we ate breakfast on the very private patio at the casita, which provided lovely sunrise views. Melanie has decorated the casita so thoughtfully and comfortably, not with cast-off furniture or broken dishes, but with furnishings and dishes specially chosen for the Southwest experience. We really were able to move in and relax. Will definitely return. Thank you, Melanie, for providing such an ideal experience for us.

Relaxing stay
The property was easy to find, and a great location for cycling, running and swimming in the pool at star pass golf club.
Pool was quite chilly, but we were able to get them to do swipe card for access for length of stay.
Property was not cheapest in this area, but be aware some are only renting out half a condo.
Kitchen had everything we needed, comfortable beds and a decent hot shower.

Uncomfortable
Cancel policy 60 days notice? I stayed from September 1 to October 31. I tried to cancel October and reply was 60 day notice giving me no chance to cancel. Owner bought two new chairs bc sitting on wood chairs for two months or two days is uncomfortable. Buying cheap chairs acknowledges that. We would never rent this place again. Foam beds awful cheap

Beautiful environment, sipping coffee on the patio when javelina came visiting was a treat. The 2 master suites provided privacy for 2 mature couples. The owner was very responsive when contacted and the common pool area was relaxing.
The property needs some care, which the owner promised to look into. The biggest challenge was getting hot water to one of the main showers so we had to share the other. The furniture needs some upgrades as well.

Splendid Tucson rental
Great place. Everything as advertised. Close to hiking, golf, swimming in lap pool. We took advantage of the JW Marriott plenty. Melanie, the host was super responsive when we had an issue with the keycards. An outside grill would be an easy upgrade idea, Would stay here again to get out of the Midwest cold.

Good beds & towels
Table had shredded cheese on it, wine glasses had lip markings & dishes had to be scrubbed first. Sleeping great for 2 cpls. Seating in living room was an older sofa & a decorative chair not so great.

A lovely place in a beautiful part of Tucson
This is a well furnished and comfortable place in the desert, walking distance into the Saguaro National Forest. The neighborhood is quiet, with nice amenities and surrounding golf course. The host was extremely helpful and responsive. I hope to stay again.

Great place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay here. The unit is very quiet, you can hear nothing at night. The living room area is quite a bit larger than the photos imply. Big lounge with a dining table. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are very spacious with lots of hanging space. As noted in other reviews bathrooms are a little dated, but there is tons of hot water and everything works perfectly.
To be clear on pool access, you do not have access to the JW Marriott pools at the hotel, but rather another Marriott pool that is a 2 minute walk from the unit. This pool has beds, towels, umbrellas, but no poolside service if you were looking for that. The pool also has a very good gym with various cardio machines and weights machines. A 1 minute walk from this is the Starr Pass Golf Suites Marriott facility, with bar, very nice restaurant (Catalina BBQ) and fancy reception area.
Having the JW is also nice - a 10-15 min walk away is this 5 star luxury hotel with Starbucks, a few high-end restaurants etc.
There are numerous hikes starting a short walk from the property that take you right into the desert.

It was ok. I would like to see 1 or 2 soft chairs added since there were 4 of us
Great location nice kitchen we would’ave liked a grill and more than 4 coffee cups so we wouldn’t have to wash them every day.

Cozy casita in great location
We loved the Southwestern decor, the comfortable beds, and the well-.equipped kitchen. The grounds were beautiful, too, as was the nearby golf course. Nearby hiking was great, and the owners were very helpful with information for our arrival and departure, as well as suggestions for things to do in the area.

Nice unit. Some small issues
Unit is very clean. Convenient location. Very spacious. Bathrooms are very dated. The showers are not very good. Sinks are slow to drain. Guest bath never could get hot water in the sink. Master bedroom mattress is awful. It is so soft it’s almost ridiculous.

Very comfortable, unbeatable location, fantastic host!
We do a lot of traveling and this is one of the very top places we stayed in Tuscon. Hiking and golf close by, good restaurants in the Starr Pass complex, fully equipped kitchen, comfy beds.
But best of all is Melanie, who helped us out of a jam. As I say, we try lots of vacation rentals and we were in one that was OK, but small, dusty and depressing. On Christmas Day, we tried to move but most other places couldn't accommodate us till the day after Christmas, and we really dreaded the thought of staying another night of our vacation where we were, especially since our son came to join us, making the small place even smaller. Melanie went out of her way on Christmas Day, when I am sure she was busy with family, to help us out.

Lovely location
Quaint condo close to the JW Marriott Resort in Starr Pass. As a couple we had plenty of space (Would probably be great for two couples max). Close to hiking trails, golf course and swimming pool. We were able to enjoy the hotel, patio and Signature Restaurant. Quiet location with a comfortable bed. Some renovations might be good for the two bathrooms. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return!

A perfect Tucson retreat!
The "Sonoran Desert Oasis" in Starr Pass was the perfect retreat for my family to enjoy a Tucson visit. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to use, the furnishings are comfy, and the unit is roomy. The back balcony is quite peaceful for reading and enjoying visiting birds - and rabbits! The climate control worked great, and the parking was easy. The unit is not directly on the parking lot, which made for better privacy. If TV is your thing, there's one in each room - large screen, newer models. The location is ideal - steps away from a full size pool, and just a quarter mile away from the Tucson Mountains trailhead, where plenty of interesting hikes can be had. I wish we had brought bikes - though hilly, it seemed a great area to hop on a bike because the traffic is light - and it's close to some first-rate mountain biking trails. The location is close to town but also close to Sonoran Desert Museum, and very close by is the fascinating International Wildlife Museum - a great home-schooling lesson day for our kids and low entry fee. The Oasis is aptly named - it's a retreat far enough away from the bustle of downtown to feel secluded, yet close enough to connect with our relatives and business in town.
The owner was very helpful and responsive with communication, and offered lots of great suggestions to help us enjoy our stay. She accommodated my family with roll-out beds that the kids found comfy. We would definitely book this unit again; it is far more cost effective than the Westward Look, our previous Tucson retreat, yet just as relaxing.

A Little Disappointed
My husband & I stayed here with another couple in mid-February. I would describe it as nice. Not wonderful, but not awful. The location is good in relation to Starr Pass Resort & close to highways to go south for sight seeing. The beds were very nice, comfortable with great linens. There were plenty of fluffy towels, ample toilet paper & paper towels. There are lots of glasses, dishes & cooking utensils. We had to wash the glasses we used because of a residue left in them, possibly from the dishwasher. The Casita was not as clean as it could have been. Cobwebs on the ceiling vents, drawers in the bathroom that needed to be wiped out, leftover toiletries from other guests in the bathroom cupboards. The finishes were not as high end as I would expect in this price range. Laminate in the bathrooms is stained. The faucets in the large bathroom did not work well, they need to be replaced. The patio had a wet umbrella laying on it along with some long pieces of metal. Both of the outside entry doors are in very bad condition. We were also disappointed in the amount & type of furniture, The only comfortable place to sit is a couch that seats 3 people. The other chairs in the living area are wood with high straight backs. Not conducive to watching tv or lounging.
Be careful when renting about hidden costs. You'll be charged more than the listing price for additional people. There is a service fee in addition to the cleaning fee. VRBO will keep a large percentage of your damage deposit as a service fee to redeposit it to your charge card, even if there are no damages. When I complained to the owner about this VRBO fee, she said if we had rented directly from her we would not have had to pay this. I know this is probably all spelled out in the terms & conditions, but it seems shady to me not to state it all up front.
All in all, not a really bad place, but not worth the money we paid.

Perfect place for 2 to 4 people. Nice furnished patio to watch hummingbirds and enjoy breakfast or drinks at sunset.

Beautiful area!
Traveled to Tucson with good friends for a little Antique shopping. The casita is very well appointed and loved the southwestern feel. Great response from the owner. We had dinner at Signature at the nearby Starr Pass Resort, which was delicious. We had drinks listening to music and they had fireworks after dinner! Great stay!

Favorite casita!! Favorite trip to Tucson!! Will NOT be our last! :-)
Beautiful location and serene setting for relaxation. We enjoyed spa services at the Resort and then relaxed poolside. The hiking was exceptional! The Saguaro cacti had blossoms and I have never seen anything like it. The casita was so comfortable and beautifully appointed. Perfect location... and we're already planning on another trip!!
