We loved this spot. It’s I. A great location along the PCH. The views are amazing as are the sounds of the ocean and bird songs

Everyone enjoyed listening to the ocean. We knew there were a lot of stairs and we were fine with that. Uniqueness of the surroundings was fun for us. Had enough bathrooms, plug-ins and excellent water pressure. Beds were comfortable and didn’t miss heat or have need for A/C. Very nice. We were close enough to our university and places to eat.

The most beautiful view from every room!
Gathering for a family wedding. Location heavenly. House comfortable and accommodating for all. Everyone loved their individual rooms and the living room was large with comfortable seating for all. The kitchen was easy to use and well stocked for food preparation. We all enjoyed breakfast while taking in the expansive views of the pacific. Clean, cozy and quirky enough for magical memories. Hope to gather there again one day.

Unique house with great views!
This is our second time staying at this fun house. I will never tire of the view from the living room watching dolphins swim by. I discovered even more quirks of the house the second time around. You will never stay in another house quite like this one.

Unique house, great location!
Great house with really unique features! We enjoyed exploring all the fun features and unique details! The downstairs bar area is spectacular! Everything was clean and roomy, giving all couple ample privacy if they wanted it. The kitchen is a bit outdated, but clean and well stocked.
Great location as a home base and an easy 10 min walk down to the local beach.
Would highly recommend this place to any friends and won't hesitate to book again on a future trip.

Vrbo review
My three sisters and I loved staying in your fabulous home. We hardly left the property! It’s hard to find a quiet four bedroom/5 bath home like this between Malibu and Santa Monica that is in safe neighborhood within walking distance to beach. Every room was unique and full of creative surprises. We enjoyed cooking in the fully stocked kitchen and dining at the “door table” with the most amazing ocean view. The living room was spacious and comfortable for at least 8 people. We opened the doors and windows to enjoy the sounds of waves crashing and smell the glorious ocean air. The bar was a Hollywood fantasy room. We hope to come back someday as this was our favorite vacation rental yet. It was very clean for an older house. Thank you so much for sharing this one of a kind property.

Unique house by a great beach!
Absolutely had a great 4 day weekend staying in this different but fun house. We had 4 couples in our party so we each had our own room and bathroom. The kitchen is well sotcked to cook anything. The living room was large and airy with seating for all of us to play games. The rental manager left us fans which was super nice as we stayed during a heat wave and the house has no air. I would recommend this house to all my friends and family!

Really Fun House
This house was a lot of fun for get away. Beautiful ocean views, especially from the main floors. It had everything needed for a wonderful time shared with family and friends. Property manager was quick to respond with answers to any questions we had.

AMAZING stay!
I am obsessed with this house. It was exactly as advertised and we could not have been more pleased. It was so unique and interesting my 3 teenagers absolutely loved it. Very quiet neighborhood less than a 5-minute walk to the beach. !0 min drive to Santa Monica for food and shopping plus stores and restaurants within Pacific Palisades as well. The kids loved having their own bedroom and bathroom and going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves crashing. The check-in process could not have been any easier and we had absolute;y no need to contact the property manager at all during our stay. We were desperately in need of a relaxing getaway before school goes back after 5 months of being locked in and this was perfect. Very enthusiastically recommend and we look forward to staying there again on future trips. If you cannot handle stairs there is a lot in the house and to/from the beach but we had absolutely no issues.

Unique Home, Memorable Experience, But Post-Stay Deposit Was all Crickets
The good, and this home has plenty of it. Very unique--you will remember this home as opposed to most. The views were great, but most importantly each room was a treasure. A great experience. Also, going to the beach is super easy provided you have no problem with stairs. We even walked down to Gladstone's for a nice dinner, which is an easy walk.
The bad, and no big deal if you can deal with these things: driving/parking and stairs. We had no problem at all and it should not be a deal breaker unless you have a family member that can't navigate stairs or no one wants to deal with tight driving and parking situations.
The really bad, IMO. Maybe this was an unintentional mistake, but it certainly is concerning given that many people don't routinely follow up with post-vacation expenses on their cards. But after over ten days since our departure, we still had not heard from the property owner about our deposit or the stay at all, and only after a message and phone call to him did we eventually get the full refund of the deposit back on my card.
I shouldn't have to and don't want to worry about this type of thing or have to monitor this. I consider it a bigger deal than many would, so take what you want from it.

Beautiful, Unique, & 10-Minutes From The Beach
Positives: awesome beach views, cool and unique decor, a downstairs bar, gas and charcoal grill, short walk to the beach, nearby grocery store and restaurants. We found the house to be clean and in great condition.
No negatives worth mentioning!

Super cool and funky house!
This house is more fun than the pictures. My family enjoyed exploring, and everywhere you looked there was more interesting details. The views from all the rooms were exceptional, and it was nice that every bedroom had it's own bathroom. Bathrooms were cozy but well appointed, and beds were comfortable with nice sheets. It's not new and nothing like a hotel, but it is comfortable and quirky. It's a five minute walk to the beach, and it was nice to fall asleep to the waves at night. Downsides: it is difficult to turn around after you park because it is on a dead end, and the kitchen is a bit rustic, but has a good stove and we still cooked several nice meals there. There are LOTS of stairs both in the house and on the hills around it and down to the beach - great for the glutes!

Great Location
If your looking for a property that will become part of your vacation memory this is the one. If you don't like stairs probably should chose another. Only complaint is the BBQ grill need to be replaced or at least repaired.

Great place on ocean
The house was as advertised and so we were not looking for a hotel like environment but there were some things that really should be fixed. Oven is obviously leaking gas and needs to be fixed or replaced. Lights and switches need to be labeled and lights should have light bulbs. More towels and washclothes should be provided or let people know to bring their own. Small tho ha but would have made stay so much better. Small aggrevstions

Really stunning, offbeat property in great location
The location and charm of this property really can’t be beat. Everyone who stayed was enamored with it, calling it everything from a pirate ship to a hobbit house! I only ever left to go to the beach or the grocery store! There are plenty of shining reviews, so here are a few of the things I wish I’d known before coming:
Drawbacks were the 100-degree heat (no AC), finicky grill (flame kept blowing out, or maybe propane was low?), and the fact that there wasn’t a good place to walk the dog on the property or in the surrounding neighborhood. (We also couldn’t find a fire extinguisher, which should be available anytime there’s a grill.) Owner was quick to respond the few times we reached out so I’m confident the grill issues could have been resolved if we had wanted to ask.
A ceiling fan in the living room would have been appreciated, though oscillating fans were provided in all the rooms and the temps cooled down at night. The sound of the waves crashing outside our windows was a dream.
The bar downstairs is so quirky and cool, but it’s not very welcoming or comfortable to actually hang out in.
Fair warning: Don’t rent this house if you have trouble with stairs! There are half a dozen stairwells in the house itself, plus another six flights or so to get down to the beach.
All in all, an amazing escape!

Tremendously quirky, truly wonderful house with spectacular ocean views.
We all enjoyed our memorable stay in John's gorgeous home. The house is full of personality, with dozens of quirky details to be discovered. It feels very friendly inside, and the uninterrupted ocean views are unbeatable. Very short walk to the lovely beach. Stores, cafes, restaurants, hikes, Getty Villa, Eames House, Santa Monica and Malibu all within very easy reach by car. Recommended without reservation. An inspiring and special retreat.

Funky House with A view
This house spoke to our love of creative environments and the sound and view of the ocean.
We enjoyed family gathering in the living room or taking walks across the bridge to the beach.
The house was a little challenging for those with any knee or hip problems getting down to the lower 3 bedrooms (the upstairs was only a few steps up). The kitchen was fairly well-equipped, but not what you might call up-to-date. There were some places on the property that they warned should not be visited for safety reasons. So we needed to try to figure out what to avoid.
John was very responsive to our needs and sent over his maintenance man to take care of any issues we had.
Overall we had a wonderful stay! We would highly recommend the house for those who are not expecting a pristine new building...we enjoyed the stained glass, the fun bar with interesting carvings the patio and the comfortable beds.

Paradise in the Pacific Palisades
This hacienda by the sea is simply charming. The decor is beautiful and so unique. The views of the ocean are breathtaking. The location is perfect...10 minute walk to the beach, a half mile to the grocery store. We ate dinner every night on the back patio looking at the beautiful Pacific. We absolutely loved it!!
