Better than I anticipated, clean spacious and cozy stay.

"Can you get better than this? You bet." This is such a true statement that I regret not paying attention to.
Getting access keys was easy. Went to the assigned room H2 and walked in on 2 ladies getting ready for the evening (shock for all of us). Went back to the office and was assigned a different room F1.
If you are willing to spend your time with spiders, roaches, lizards, and mildew this is the place to stay. This place is old and in dire need of an upgrade.
The only thing this place has going for it, is the location. It's a 3 minute walk to the Coconut Marketplace and a 3 minute walk to a beautiful beach. It is equal distance to the north and west shores. Kapaa has the best dining and quick drive to the airport. So if you are just looking for a place to store your luggage, this might be for you.

This location was worse then staying at a motel in Mexico. The apt has a bad mold smell. The shower ceiling leaks, the toilet was leaking, the sink in the bathroom leaks. I reached out to the owner and her excuse was not able to speak English but I understood her fine. I requested for other accommodations since the bathroom wasn't working and were not able to fix until we left and the owner refused. The only thing that was fixed was the toilet. The beds say but are a small full bed. The sofa needs to be replaced. The whole apartment needs renovation. No matter how much we tried to vent the apt open windows and door we were not able rid of the smell. I have also reached out to the health dpt because there might be mold behind the walls the reason why we are not able to air out the smell. You are better off renting a car and staying in a tent!

Great location, everything we needed!
This was our second stay in this unit, we loved our stay again, it is a great place with kids, central location very close to lots of good kid activities. Beds were comfortable, it had all the basic amenities we needed. This was an awesome value for the price, so keep in mind that it may not be the most upscale/fancy place when you're getting such an awesome deal. Some past reviews I read seemed to have unreasonable expectations of what they were paying for in Hawaii. This was perfect for us with two kids, right across from the pool. Laundry is in the building and easy. Easy check in/check out process. Great place for low maintenance people, highly recommended!

just ok
Globally, the place was ok.
We have found beetle whit the cutting boards and under the beds, but I suppose that is normal since some windows don't close well.
Smell a bit like mold in there... You are close to the groceries, beach and restaurants and it's a good location on kauai because it's on the middle of the distances of what you can see.
We had little problem whit the wifi, but it was okay after a call to the owner.

In general the condo is good
The condo is good for 4 person. The pool is very near the condo. The beach is across road . You can’t swim only wake and see because waves are big every time. If you want to swim you need to drive 30-40 minute away

Awful
Not able to stay there because of multiple issues of cleanliness and misrepresentation

Decent location decent place
Had loads of fun, Kapaa is a good location, condo was clean . Couple of things: the sofa is the most god awful uncomfortable thing on earth! Both for sitting on and for sleeping on, ended up buying a blowup bed at Costco. The other is that there is an 8 foot wall between the condo complex and the beach and it blocks any chance of a view. For the price though, I would recommend this place

Ok place to stay for a few days
This place is ok. What turned me off the most was no communication with the owner after several messages. We were late getting in and no instructions were given as to how to get into our unit. After walking around for 1/2 hour...with 4 kids, at 1am (4am our time so we were exhausted) we finally found a security guard who gave us our key. There is a phone on the wall at the front desk, but it doesn’t even work, we tried it 3 or 4 times. The fact that I tried ahead of time to make arrangements and heard nothing was frustrating. Other than that the condo/complex was ok.

Horrible! Do not rent! Mold everywhere!
I should have listened to the bad reviews. I emailed the owner through VRBO on October 7th of 2018, well in advance of our February visit. I wrote in regards to the bad reviews and asked if the things mentioned in the bad reviews were fixed. She sent me back a message, saying "Yes, all taken care of". The items were not taken care of.
As soon as we walked in the door, we were overcome with the smell of mold.
There was mold everywhere. Mold was on the curtains, the drapes, the shower & tub, and the shower curtain. The mold was in the air conditioner which filled both rooms with a lovely mold smell. The air conditioner is super loud and randomly switches on and off.
They cut a hole in the wall so they could vent the air conditioner from the bedroom to the living room and tried to cover it with a table or shelf of sorts.
The bathroom towels had black hairs on them. When we had arrived, there was a note on the door saying that they had scheduled a delivery of a new bed on Saturday, February 19th between 3:00 & 4:00 pm. We did not understand why they couldn't replace the bed in between stays.
Even though we were exhausted, we could not stay there. We packed up within an hour and loaded everything back in the car not knowing where we were going to stay. We knew that we could not stay there. We already felt sick from the mold. I dropped off the keys at the front desk and called the the person who wrote the note. I told her what had happened and she texted the owner, Molly. I later was able to get the owners cell phone # and left her a message that we could not stay there and expected a refund due to the condition of the unit. She NEVER returned my call. I also notified her through VRBO and she NEVER wrote back. There is not an on island property manager for this unit as the law requires.

Great Location but....
Location of this apartment was awesome! Check-in was easy and the pool and hot tube were well maintained. Kitchen was well stocked. However, the beds and couch were very uncomfortable. Could not even sit on the couch because of the springs and lumps in the cushions. Replace the couch and the mattresses in the bedroom and we would be happy to return.

Great low cost option!
This is a really good low cost option! It’s centrally located on the island which was great. We traveled to all parts of the island so the location was perfect. The beach right by the condo close and beautiful but not great for swimming. It dropped off quickly and had strong current that pulled you out to sea. The pool and hotub are right out the back door and we’re a lot of fun. My kids swam every night and most mornings. The condo is small and a little dated but everything worked well and was worth the price. My only complaint was that the WiFi and Cabe were not working, even though te manager said they were. Also, it would be nice to get a “what to do when you arrive e mail” I had to reach out to the manager the day we flew in to ask how we could access the condo. Other than that I would highly Recconend staying here.

Great location. Could be better maintained.
This is my second time using VRBO to find a place to stay in Hawaii. Encouraged by my stay in Honolulu, we looked into using VRBO for our stay in Kauai.
The Plantation Hale is awesome. The gardens are well maintained, the pools are nice, and the location is great. The little shops at the Coconut Marketplace were fun, and the beaches in that area are nice. Lots of cute shops and good restaurants in Kapaa.
The suite itself was... okay. It’s not nearly in as good of condition as the pictures would make it seem. It needs paint. Some of the cabinet doors don’t close right. The ac is very loud and there is a check filter light on the whole time. The tub doesn’t drain. The location — near the stairs — makes it a bit loud. However, there were plenty of linens and towels, chairs and boogie boards, so that was great.
Molly responded quickly to questions but with terse, one sentence responses. This versus the other property manager who was very welcoming, personally dropping off a welcome gift and wrote very responsive, informational emails.
Disappointing was that there was no welcoming champagne and chocolates as advertised. It wasn’t the end of the world, but added to the whole “meh” of the experience. I think next time I’ll just book directly from Plantation Hale or find another place to stay. I’m not unhappy with my experience, it just could have been better.

Nice with convenient location
We were delayed 2.5 days and got no cost break. I felt that the owner did little to keep open communication with us. We had to email 1 month prior to confirm our stay and ask for instructions on check in. When we contacted her to let her know we were going to be late due to weather cancellations she said simply go to the desk and get your key. When we arrived the desk had no information on our check in and had to put us in one of their units. The phone number to reach the owner was not updated and disconnected. I emailed the owner and by the next morning we were in our correct unit. We did not hear anything from her besides one sentence emails. There was little information in the unit about what to do, wifi etc...basically you have to figure it out. Other units provide stay information and good things to do, see, or restaurants.

Our Hawaiian Vacation
Thank you Molly for the use of your condo. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. We liked the convenience of being near the town of Kapaa with it's shops and restaurants. Traffic is crazy but with one highway on the island, patience is the key. We were on vacation so time was not an issue. Being near to the beach was great. We spent a lot of time there. The condo was very comfortable with all the amenities needed for our stay. Thank you, Mike & Sharon

Not bad but there is better
The location to this unit is great, the pool was down for maintenance. The beach is a walk away. The unit is not ocean front, it faces the enclosed pool fence and some plants. The unit is spacious, toiletries provided, plenty of towels provided. We did find a small cockroach in the microwave but it was a one time deal. I think the unit is well maintained but does need some sprucing up to the bedding, the refrigerator is rusted on the outside, and just some updating in General, along with some new mattresses. The a/c unit in the bedroom is uncomfortably loud. We preferred to turn it out and leave sliding door open to have the breeze instead of the noise. I wouldn't recommend it for small children. But overall pleasant stay.

Great choice all around! Mahalo!
The unit is well-maintained, with fully equipped kitchen, attractive landscaping and in a great location. We are very glad that we chose to stay here for our eight-day vacation on Kauai. Only one small detail needs to be addressed: a step stool or two-tiered ladder to reach the upper shelves. (I'm 4 ft 10 inches tall.) Otherwise, we give it 5 big stars. Mahalo!

Clean Condo
Clean hotel. It feels like a mini apartment with full kitchen. Location was great! Pretty much center of island which allows you to go explore north or south of island. Shopping center across the way was perfect for grocery shopping.
