About this cabin rental
This home has many amenities, including outside sitting areas, barbeque, a deck overlooking the river, lovely cabin set ups in bedrooms, kitchen and living areas. Each bedroom has a queen bed with new mattresses, huge fireplace in great room with plenty of wood, air conditioning and several tvs with cable and wifi. A spa tub is in the master upstairs bathroom and a skylight in the bedroom. A washer and dryer are off of the kitchen. Everything you could want or need is there.

We stayed in this home with our extended family (ages 17- 82). This is a well loved home in a gorgeous location. There are many places to sit outside and enjoy the river view (or walk down and sit right next to it. Full kitchen, good sized living room. Whoever gets the master bedroom is in for a treat with a big room with an amazing view of the river. The two bedrooms on the first floor are much smaller.The redwoods are just 15 minutes away.

Perfect centralized location for group of family and friends to explore the Redwoods and the northern CA coastline. Host was accessible and personal and the property was private with wonderful outdoor deck space and beautiful river views. Clean and comfortable with all the amenities. Highly recommended!

This was a most enjoyable place to stay. The home was very inviting, comfortable and clean. It has a large covered patio and a separate covered area with a swing. All overlooking the Smith River. It is very close to the Redwoods and all they have to offer. Not far from Crescent City and the coast. Everything is there for a most enjoyable stay.

I grew up in Gasquet. This is our third year visiting our old stomping grounds. We love the house, the grounds, and the view of the Smith River. We visited friends and just enjoyed being in nature. Loved our visit!

My family enjoyed our stay at Elve Huset beyond expectations. The river was right out the back door, and a great place for peace and quiet and for fun in the water. The house was very clean and interesting (so much art, flowers, birds, nd history!) and had everything we could hope for to prepare meals and enjoy them together, as well as get rest after days adventuring in the river and at nearby attractions. Crescent City tidepools, Brookings beaches, Smith River swimming holes, and Jedediah Smith redwoods are all nearby. We loved our stay! A memorable experience!

This was our second visit to this house. We loved it as much as the first time. We need to come back in the summer so we can enjoy the river more, but it’s so cozy for a winter stay. We love it.

Our family had a more than fabulous time at the Elve Huset. The kitchen was spectacularly equipped, very helpful since my son loves to chef things to the extreme! The beds were all comfortable. The living room sofas made for comfy extra sleeping areas. The multiple decks provided quiet private spots while accommodating group laughter areas!
We’re already planning for next year…except we NEED more days!

We had a wonderful stay at Diane & Larry’s house. Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful. The house was clean and very well furnished and equipped. Some difficulties contacting property manager prior to stay. But once that was cleared up, everything was perfect.

This place is truly amazing. The location is in a beautiful area with a river right behind it. The two patios that are overlooking the river are private and perfect for relaxing. The house is incredibly nice. The furnishings are comfortable. The host has done an awesome job putting things around the house to keep you entertained. Everything about this place is perfect. One of our favorite places we have ever stayed.

We are four women friends who have traveled together for over 30 years. We had not been able to be together since before covid. This was the perfect spot to just rest, talk, and play games. It is close to the Redwoods and the ocean. Since we were on the river we had the best of all worlds. I highly recommend this home. It had a combination of quirky and amazingly gorgeous. We plan to be back. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality

Fantastic!
Magical location on the Smith River. Twenty mins from Jedediah Redwoods, an hour from Del Norte and it's directly in the Smith River recreation area. The house is perched on an overlook to the river with 3 beautiful decks. The owner's sweet has a fantastic view and you can listen to the river as you sleep. Everything you need for a comfortable relaxing vacation. Highly recommend!

Perfect river home
We loved the space! Cozy and beautiful. Fireplace was great, lots of wood supplied. Fossils, minerals and woodwork were all amazing. The kitchen was well stocked, much appreciated! The view of the river from the upstairs room was such a wonderful way to wake each morning. So peaceful. Hoping to stay again in the summer time.

Peaceful stay
It rained during our stay, but we were able to have a peaceful and cozy rest in the house equipped with everything. The house was well organized as stated on the list, and the owner's touch in every corners made me feel happy. Above all, the house maintained a warm temperature despite the cold outside temperature, indicating that it well-built house. It was raining so I couldn't enjoy the yard, but I think it's good to visit from spring to autumn as the outdoor deck is well equipped by the stream. It's definitely a place I want to visit again.

Forest-River neighborhood
Close to redwood forests, gorgeous Oregon style beaches, nice towns, a rushing river, scenic gorges—lots to see and explore. Comfortable, quirky house full of fossils and minerals and handmade artifacts. Great fireplace, big complete kitchen. Nice neighbors, too.

Family of 5 had a cozy calm 4 day mini-cation. Traveled into Crescent City a few times about 30 minutes one way. Nice quiet place to stay.

My family was in a very stressful time of life, motel hopping while waiting for our home to be built. Finding this beautiful oasis was such a blessing . Something about morning coffee on the deck watching the river put life back in order.

A serene getaway on the river
Omg what an amazing property. The outdoor area overlooking the river was more than we could have hoped for. We spent pretty much all day out there, playing in the river, and enjoying the deck area. Super private. Nice spacious house. I would recommend maybe some newer furniture, bedding, and towels. Otherwise, we loved it here!

Very nice house and property on river with outdoor relaxing spots. Did find the lack of instructions for some things like the TV frustrating, but overall, a pleasant comfortable stay.

River House
One of the most interesting properties I have ever stayed at. Strong positives and negatives. Amazingly unique house with wonderful master. On the river with access. Fantastic woodwork and unique items displayed throughout. Abundant beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers. Hummingbirds were a bonus.
The downside was the kitchen was not clean, ants and flies in abundance. Smell in house from overflowing trash in garage. Sheets in master were old, heavily soiled and need to be replaced. Once we cleaned the kitchen and got rid of the flies, it was a pleasant stay for the most part. The house and property itself overcame alot of the negatives.
Manager of property did send Cleaning person over to help, but we had already cleaned kitchen at that point.
Disappointed after talking with manager about issues, he has not offered to refund the first day's stay or at least the cleaning fee, but maybe I should have pushed for it.
I still recommend this property because I think manager will correct issues and this property is that special.

Exceeded expectations!
Upon arrival, I was completely overwhelmed with the beauty of the back decks, views of the Smith River, flowers, and paths of the back yard area. So beautiful. The house was fully stocked with anything we might need including inner tubes for the river. I grew up in Gasquet and know a few locals. They helped me find the best path to the swimming hole near us, and it happened to be one I frequented as a kid in the 70’s. Such great memories. Got to have a few of those friends over for a bbq. Had so much fun. Great place to stay. Loved it! We will be back!! Highly recommend.

The entire home is such a comfortable space and the yard and back deck is so fun! Thank you for opening your family home to guests, we enjoyed staying there for our 3 nights in Gasquet, visiting the Jedediah Smith State Park and Brookings, OR. The entire home is such a comfortable space and the yard and back deck is so fun! The three of us hung out on the swing for morning, afternoon and evening talks, meals and just to take in nature and the view and sounds of the Smith River.
All that we needed in the kitchen was there for us and that was awesome 👍
