About this house rental
Enjoy the ambiance of a New England Seaside Getaway, without the crowds!
Quick Note: We have a two night minimum stay Sunday through Thursday, and a four night minimum for any rentals that include Friday and or Saturday night.
This charming, romantic one bedroom townhouse is located in a quiet, seaside neighborhood on the desirable Rocky Neck in Gloucester Harbor. It has water views and boating access and is just steps away from the water. Water access just 80 feet or so away (for launching a small boat such as a kayak or paddle-board) and around the corner, small beach for swimming. Rocky Neck is a fun, festive art colony with many active music-filled restaurants and art galleries. There is a nearby theater company. This house is on a very private street which ends at the water and so has no thru traffic.
The sun deck, living room and bedroom all have a water view.
You can relax and eat outside on the pretty sun deck off the living room, or gravel terrace below, with patio furniture and flower boxes, and landscaping.
There is a four burner gas grill.
There is a tv and availability of roku and multiple cable channels (not Showtime, etc).
King sized bed upstairs.
Bathroom is upstairs, with a small tub in a stand up shower.
The bedroom and bathroom are upstairs and are accessed via a narrow spiral staircase.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE STAIRWAY IS NOT FOR YOU IF YOU ARE UNFIT OR SIGNIFICANTLY OBESE (CHECK PICTURE)- IT IS ABOUT 2.5 FEET WIDE.
Easily sleeps two, but can accommodate 3-4 with full-size sleep sofa.
High quality linens for bed and bath.
There are a few antique furnishings in the bedroom and living room.
There is a bedroom ceiling fan and programable central AC (often not needed). Sea breezes right off Gloucester Harbor often create a lovely freshness to the place, so you can turn off the AC and open the windows to let in the breeze!
There is enough storage space in bedroom and bathroom closets.
The kitchen is amply-sized and has all the modern conveniences, including a Keurig and also large appliances which are new within the last 5-6 years. It also has been updated with lovely, new white quartz and maple counters, as well as granite sink.
There is a nearby laundromat (about 3 minute drive, 1/2 mile away and cleaning supplies are provided in the townhouse.
There is private off street parking for your car. The parking lot is shared with the front unit.
This is a safe and friendly area where people often don't even lock doors! But I prefer that you lock anyway. There is a key-box by the front entry.
If you don't bring your car, you can get around by cab, possibly Uber, bus, water taxi or bikes (but beware of local drivers!). I do recommend a car to take full and easy advantage of the area and region, however.
It is a great getaway for a couple or single person to enjoy the summer in this lovely area. Gloucester and Cape Ann abound with many cultural and recreational activities. In Gloucester, enjoy whale watching, large sailboat cruises and many cultural activities and events from Saint Peter's Fiesta in late June to the Tall Ships Parade and Mayor's Cup Race over Labor Day. Nearby in Rockport you can browse around Bear Skin Neck, view incredible scenery including "Motif #1", explore Halibut Point State Park, attend a concert at the Rockport Music-Shalin Liu Performance Center or outdoors, in multiple venues.
And as always, the beauty of nature and all it's opportunities for exercise and recreation, still abound.
This is available for:
June through October with reduced rates for stays of over 7 days. Also available as a winter rental (see Craig's list).
We just added the front townhouse to VRBO. It's recently been renovated, and it's got decks on three levels: by the kitchen, by the second floor bedroom, and a roof deck with fantastic views! Check it out at https://www.vrbo.com/3842188.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The narrow stairs took a bit of getting used to, but we managed. We spent most of our time outside (beach, sight-seeing, etc.) however it would have been nice to be able to wind down watching a little TV. Very few channels came in and we had some issues with the wifi network/password. The one provided in the email from the owner wasn't visable when we scanned for it, but we were another network & password were written down in the unit. Other than that, it was a relaxing place to stay. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and had a great trip.

A little hideaway that seems just right for America's oldest art colony and fishing community. The little spiral stairway gives it character (though not for all) getting to the lovely bedroom.

This property was in a quiet peaceful part of Gloucester. It was easy to get around to restaurants and shops and to nearby beaches as well. The property was well taken care of and set up. I also deeply appreciated how clean the property was, this rental was exceptionally clean compared to most rentals. We throughly enjoyed our short stay here, and would definitely visit again!

Clean, cute, and quaint. Great location on Rocky Neck, easy walk to everything from eateries to small beaches. Very short drive to places off the Neck. Like being in your own private grotto. Great hosts and very responsive if needed; otherwise, we were left alone to enjoy the place as if it was all our own. We wanted for nothing except to come back again!

Location was very pretty. Property had everything I could need for my stay. The owners were great. I forgot something when we left and the mail back to me. I was very appreciative of this. The only negative thing I could say about the property. It is a little bit more difficult to get up to the bedroom and with your bags otherwise great. Thanks!

Host was communicative. Place was just as advertised. It was very clean except for a couple of stains on the bedding. It was in a nice quiet neighborhood. It was centrally located and close to drive to nearby shops. As others have stated, the spiral staircase would be a challenge for a larger individual to maneuver.

This is a charming little cottage attached to owners house out on Rocky Neck. It is a peaceful little place with all the quirks of a historic home. Floors are slightly slanted but it’s part of the charm. I will say that spiral staircase is a doozy. It looks cute and is sturdy but as a curvy 63 yo w bad knees this was a squeeze for me. We kept our suitcases downstairs bc we couldn’t figure out how to fit them up the staircase! Pretty little neighborhood and the cottage was well equipped with very comfy bed and harbor sounds lulling you to sleep. The only bummer was there was no access to the cool widows walk on the roof, which would have given incredible harbor views. Would have loved a glass of wine at sunset up there.

We enjoyed our stay in the apartment. It was clean, comfortable, and the check in process was easy. There is an information book with tips, where to find things, etc. and a guest book for recommendations from prior guests on things to see and places to eat. The location was perfect for us to travel out on day trips to Boston, Newburyport, or just wandering around Gloucester.

It was a great little house. Enjoyed the area food/restaurants. Did not meet anyone that didn’t want to chat. Enjoyed meeting the Wicked Tuna boat captains/first mates. The only down side to the house was having to go upstairs to use the bathroom. We would definitely recommend the place to others. T & H.

While it was hard for us to find, because it didn't Google on my phone - when we finally found it, it was perfect for us. We stayed one night for a wedding. Great spot, cute place and clean. Thank you!

Loved this property but didn't notice the description of the stairs before we arrived, I had my 80yo mom with me, so it was challenging (only bathroom was up the stairs). Wish the warning was in beginning of description.
It was an great location and was very clean.
Property manager when we reached out, responded promptly to assist us.
I would rent this property again!

We loved this property! It was just as it appears in the listing. It was clean, cozy and comfortable. It was close to everything we wanted to do. The sunsets were really beautiful. The host provided us with information and helpful tips that made for a wonderful weekend. I wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this listing.

We had such a great stay at this adorable townhouse/cottage! We appreciated all of the homey touches that made us feel truly welcomed into this space--from extra towels to handy beach chairs, we had everything we could possibly need and more! Fabulous location had us feeling right in the heart of things, but tucked away with plenty of privacy. The spiral staircase isn't for the faint of heart, but it worked fine for us and we appreciated knowing it was there before we booked.

Curly cue staircase was a bit tough.
If you are large or very tall you will have a difficult time with the stairs. Bed and bedding not great.

We were able to see so many things and do so many things while on the east coast. We were only there for a short time but found this little hideaway to be the perfect fit. Far enough away from hustle and bustle but close enough to get to the sights we wanted to see as well as take a long drive up the coastal hwy to see the awesome colors of fall. Elizabeth made us feel like it was really our place. We knew she was nearby and available if we needed her but she respected our privacy. Fresh flowers on the table were such a nice touch and we were blessed with fresh cherry tomatoes out of her garden, which I ate like candy because they were so sweet and delicious. The neighbors we met while on the beach were very kind and welcoming as were their dogs. We had a great time!

My boyfriend and I wanted to go to Salem for my 30th birthday. I chose this location because of how cute it was. The place is in the back. With a big parking area that allows you to turn around. It seems all the houses have a driveway parking like this.
It took us 30-45 min to get to Salem each day (with traffic).
Elizabeth was extremely responsive, and was very sweet! I would highly recommend this location for a getaway weekend.

This was our second time staying in Elizabeth’s rear apartment on beautiful Rocky Neck. Very cute and cozy and the two AC units were a godsend on the hot humid days. She’s also very sweet and responsive so it was a pleasure staying there. We’ll be back!

Elizabeth was a wonderful host. She was friendly and available if needed, but respected our privacy. The townhome was a perfect place to return to after exploring Rock Neck, Glouster, and surrounding towns. The flower boxes on the deck, a vase of flowers, and a herb garden made it very welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped. The king bed is very comfortable. The fresh air, breeze off the water, was delightful. The photos truly depict the townhome. I would happily stay here again when returning to this area.

We absolutely loved this rental property. It is located in a beautiful and very quiet and peaceful neighborhood within walking distance to art studios and a couple cafes and restaurants. It is a few houses away from the water so we enjoyed watching the sunset along the water. The rental itself is not large but perfectly cozy for me and my boyfriend, we definitely had enough room and felt very comfortable there. She recently renovated the upstairs and kitchen and it looks great. The spiral staircase was fine for us to get up and down even with luggage, but may be difficult for some people. The town of Gloucester is great too. Highly recommended!

We stayed here for a weekend anniversary getaway to visit Salem but quickly fell more in love with Gloucester. The apartment is quaint , clean and perfect for quiet moments away. We enjoyed the lovely patio for morning coffee, strolling the town with scenic views of the sea, downtown shopping and friendliest local people, and perfect sunsets and sunrises. Elizabeth was very accommodating and friendly, even offering us some fresh tomatoes from her garden. I can’t wait for our next visit to this idyllic New England town.

It was a perfect spot to get away from everyday life for a long weekend. Everything we needed was there, all we needed was our own groceries. We got to relax, Elizabeth was great making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.

Property in nice area close to a couple of small beaches. Host is very pleasant and responsive. Parking is difficult with a larger vehicle. Host has obviously invested in remodeling but some things still need attention. Price commensurate with property.

Elizabeth is a 5 star host of her lovely “Rocky Neck Hideaway”.
Her apartment is cozy with everything one needs with a newly renovated bathroom, most comfortable memory foam topped king size bed, and a kitchen that allows one to prepare and cook just about anything with its full sized appliances. This rental feel like a home as it is lovingly decorated.
The highlight of this rental for us is the deck off the living room that allows one a view to the water, a place to enjoy morning coffee and eat meals and enjoy the peaceful vibe of the neighborhood. I also cannot fail to mention our daily visit to the small beach with its wonderful view to the Gloucester harbor which is a five minute stroll away. One could not ask for more for a holiday stay and after just finishing up a 4th stay, we plan a return for next year.
Thank you Elizabeth for providing such a lovely place.

Elizabeth is a wonderful host and I would stay at her house again any time!
A stones throw from the harbor, its an idealic New England Chalet, complete with trim gardens and neighborhood bunnies. The apartment is beautiful and well appointed.
We loved our stay. the place was well stocked and very comfortable with the sea breezes coming through the windows. loved the new touches to the bathroom, nice and bright. The place was perfectly set up with flowers and herbs there was even a bowl outside for washing our little beach treasures.
