LOCATION:
The Truckee River House is a riverfront retreat on the Truckee River, a blue ribbon fishery. In addition, there are several other nice rivers and lakes nearby. The house is about 8 miles from Historic old town Truckee, close to the best Tahoe ski resorts, and many beautiful natural places including Donner Lake, Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe National Forest. The City of Reno and the Reno International Airport are just 30 minutes away.
DESCRIPTION:
The Truckee River House is a cozy river front home with beautiful sweeping views of the Truckee River and mountains. A hidden gem in a small, secluded, and serene neighborhood. Recent modern mountain renovations and furnishings mix with vintage historic finishes from the 1890's and other renovations to create a playful mix of modern and rustic mountain style. The structure and systems have all been updated and the house is fully equipped with modern conveniences, just relax and enjoy the mountains. Here you will find some of the best fishing water that the Truckee River has to offer, and it's literally right through the backyard 50 yards away - access via a rough rocky dirt trail, there is a small hill, and a little bushwhacking is required, the trail is fairly pretty easy for most, but may be challenging for some who are less able. The Truckee River can be fished year round and there are several other great fisheries nearby. Fly fishing, Skiing, Paddling, Swimming, Biking, Hiking, Climbing, Adventure, Peace, Nature, and more, all right outside the door, a true nature lovers paradise!

Enjoyed being right on the river

Such a gorgeous setting a the spacious home was so well equipped. Tubing from the base of the Boca dam to the property was a huge hit. Everyone wants to return next summer!

We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It is nicely appointed, and the views of the river are great. It does take a bit to get to the river, but there is a trail with just as little bushwhacking needed. Overall a great stay.

This property is as lovely as the pictures show. So peaceful and the views are amazing. Sitting out at the gazebo was amazing while listening to the wind through the trees and the water flowing in the river.
At dusk driving arou d you can see some of the wildlife come out for the night.
We came during a heatwave, which was all week long, but during the night when it cooled down with the windows open the house cooled right down and with fans running was lovely the rest of the day.
We had to contact the owner about a couple of things and he was right on top of it all to get it resolved as quickly as possible.
Within just a little drive there was a ton of things to see and do. Truckee is a great little town. Went to Reno a couple times through the week, drove around Lake Tahoe which had some many fun little spots to stop at. The tram at the olympic village is an awesome and an absolute must!!
You will not regret renting this place!! The whole trip I just kept repeating "Oh thats beautiful."

Great home in a quiet location but close enough to enjoy all Truckee has to offer. Beautiful view on the river and the house has plenty of room. Definately will come again and get some more fishing tips!!

A wonderful house with a great location. The view from the deck of the river and mountains was breathtaking. There was a trail to the river (challenging for an 80 year old) that was fun for dipping and fly fishing. The kitchen was well equipped and our meals on the deck were great.

What a beautiful view!! Morning coffee on the back deck was my favorite part of vacation. This property has something for everyone, our family loved our stay.

Definitely out dated and not the cleanest place we have stayed. A little dirty and tons of spiders…… not enough Body wash and shampoo.

My family enjoyed the house with the pool table and being able to walk down to the river. Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views from the deck.
Great place to stay.

House was pretty well stocked with the essentials and had lots of seating and places to hangout. Perfect directions, easy check in, comfortable beds and a great location and house overall. If I am being extra picky or had any extra notes to add.. we could have used an extra towel or two in the bathrooms ( As a woman, I like two myself) and the downstairs bathroom was separate from the bedroom (is this still considered a master?)… We loved this house and would love to stay here again. Thank you to the host for making our trip smooth and providing a great experience!

A very nice home for a pleasant stay. The owner was very responsive to messages. I would stay here again. Thank you!

Great place to get away and relax, close enough to Reno, but far enough away to feel out of the city. Great setup with rooms and common areas, and the furniture and built-ins are a perfect aesthetic. The separate bar area downstairs is a great way to be able to separate groups if needed. A great property overall.

We had a fantastic long weekend in Truckee! The house was very clean and well-stocked with everything we needed. The neighborhood was peaceful, and the views were stunning. It was also conveniently located just a 30-minute drive to Reno, where we attended a UNR commencement and caught a baseball game. Highly recommend this rental for a relaxing getaway.

Relaxing week in this beautiful home and setting. Overlooking the Truckee River and hills, it was quiet and serene. The home is cozy, modern and charming, with luxurious furniture, bedding, and a kitchen set up for cooking! Every detail is thought thru. The only thing I wish they had was a hot tub! Will definitely stay here again!

Seven ladies came to reset after the holidays, and this house was exceptional. Everything is clean and comfy, the owner is quick to communicate answers as needed and even had delivery send us things we were missing within hours of contact.
The kitchen was divine to cook in and the heated floors downstairs kept us toasty as we played games. We had an aesthetician on site for facials, and read books by the fire with crock pot soup.
We will be back for sure!!

Beautiful views and river access! The downstairs was perfect for our college kids & friends, while we enjoyed the upstairs space. The neighbors are very nice and the owner is super responsive to any questions. Great place!

Riaz was very easy to communicate and quick to respond. The property was absolutely beautiful between the house features and the outdoor views. We’ve discussed coming back to this property for future get togethers. Highly recommend for families, celebrations or intimate weekends!

We gathered together at this beautiful mountain home to celebrate my brother’s 80th birthday for two days and nights in October. We were immediately impressed by the overall quality and floor plan that was spacious and provided the three couples room to roam and room to congregate. The kitchen is stylish and well appointed with plenty of dish and glassware. The views of the Truckee River and adjacent mountains were spectacular with just a dusting of snow overnight at the peaks. The little neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. We also appreciated that the owner, Riaz, made it clear to us that he was available should we have any issues, which we didn’t. Given another opportunity we would love to return for another visit.

The house was clean and dog friendly except for the sides of the house where dogs can go in or out. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the river!

Dated, but enjoyed ourselves.

Little out of the way but cool house. Had fun. Few things were damaged like screen doors and some random dog would come into the house but he was friendly and we would feed him. Lol

The house was very nice and the view was incredible. The owner/manager was very approachable and responded quickly to our needs. We plan to stay again in the near future.

This house was perfect for our mulit family vacation. The house was clean, and spacious for our group of 10. The host was able to answer all our questions quickly. Wish the river was easier to get to, but there were so many lakes in the area it made up for it. We will definitely come back again.

House was fully equipped, plenty of rooms & view from upper deck of river was enjoyable. Long hike to river but we enjoyed ourselves floating on are own raft while watching the professional river rafter groups float by twice a day!

At first I was slightly taken aback just in that the photos really made this listing look A LOT brighter and newer and modern. The listing, while accurate, is much darker than the photos make it look. We also were very surprised to receive some very rigid house rules describing access to the River right before checking in. To know that the neighbors are very territorial and it's not as simple as just walking out the back door to the water should be VERY clear in the listing. If you have any mobility or balance issues, you may want to consider a location more accessible. That said, our crew enjoyed the location very much and understand how lucky we were to have access right behind the house. Lastly, the house was well stocked with many things but there were some VERY basic things missing. There was no soap for bathing (nor body wash), a single bath towel and hand towel per person for the entire week, and no beach towels (maybe not a necessity but being right on a River and knowing people are traveling from afar I would consider this basic). There WAS a washing machine and dryer and we laundered our towels but this is not how I wanted to spend vacation. All said, the location trumped everything, we were comfortable and most needs were cared for. I would recommend this home for a group or family vacation.

Beautiful views and sounds of river— short (occasionally steep) hike downhill to glorious water. Very accommodating and responsive host. Fully stocked kitchen and lots of extras included for families. Hot upstairs but fans were provided. Downstairs kitchen helpful for big families. Could use a dresser in the downstairs master but over-all a wonderful, relaxing stay.
5.0 / 5.0
Very well appointed home on the Truckee river. Gorgeous views throughout and plenty of space to unwind and enjoy the views. Owner was extremely communicative and helpful. I would highly recommend this property for a large family. Only thing to note is that there is no easy access to the river and walking to get there would be considered trespassing.

We enjoyed the river house and the beautiful river views. The house is the perfect getaway with family.

Family vacation. Home as advertised with breathtaking views. We loved the morning sun on the back deck and the pool table in the evenings. Plenty of space for our group of 6. Close to great food in Truckee as well as the delicious deli on the corner.
We rafted the Truckee going behind the home. The host was a great communicator with reasonable instruction and quick responses.

The home has a beautiful view of the Truckee River. We enjoyed coffee on the balcony each morning. A trail near the home for biking or walking was a plus. So many things to do nearby.

Get location and property. Very scenic and relaxing. We have been here a few times now and always enjoy it. Owner has made some nice upgrades recently that have enhanced the place quite a bit. Highly recommended.
