About this house rental
A perfect relaxing beach retreat; the oceanfront town home has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and is just 40 feet from the Bluff and stairs to Beacon's beach. This is the only home in this area with a large oceanfront grass yard. The home is perfect for families to comfortably spend time inside and outside together. The home has just been completely remodeled inside and out and has an updated look along with the character Encinitas is famous for.
The home includes 2 private parking spots, 2 soft surfboards, boogie boards, beach chairs, and beach toys. Just arrive and you are ready for a wonderful day at the beach. The bedrooms are well acquainted with King beds and matching bedroom sets. One futon is located in the second bedroom for an extra sleeping space (sheets/blanket/pillow provided). The entire home is very nicely furnished and well outfitted for our guests.
The area is the quintessential 1960's beach town, with modern splashes of luxury and tons of eclectic soul. The home is just 50 feet from the stunning cliffs that boast views of the entire coastline, and the stairs that lead down to world class Beacons Beach. The home is also just blocks away from several great places to eat or have a drink.
It is a short walk to Coast Hwy where you will find unique boutiques, mouth watering Mexican food, local coffee houses, antique stores, a new and used record store, and so much more! Stroll down a little further on the weekends and stop by the Seaside Bazaar, North County's only open-air market. At night, enjoy home cooking in your oceanfront rental, or check out one of the local neighborhood restaurants such as Calypso cafe, a small place serving up great food with local bands playing every night. Or maybe you would enjoy Bar Leucadian, a neighborhood bar that has been there since 1946, and has live music, pool tables, and no cover charge!
Historic Coast Highway also just blocks away, is home to trendy restaurants, chic boutiques and art studios - great for walking around in the sunshine. The Old Coast Highway continues south through Old Encinitas, through the heart of our lost-in-time 'old downtown' - right past Swami's Beach. Legoland is only a 10 min drive (about 6 miles) and we are about a 30 min drive to Sea World and the San Diego International Airport. The San Diego Botanical Gardens are 2.5 miles away and is a very beautiful place to visit.
Beacon's is still a 'surfer's heaven' where you can watch the greatest surfers in the world practice their skills every day.
Don’t miss out on this comfortable and beautifully appointed retreat by the beach. Come see why we have return guests year after year.

My husband and myself stayed for a quick get away from the phoenix heat. We brought our two dogs and the back yard was awesome. Truly enjoyed everything and would stay again. Side note, we had trouble with the vertical blinds as 3 or 4 individual panels kept falling off. Thank you!

Overall, the house was exactly as it appeared in the listing. We battled ants in the Kitchen and bathrooms during our entire stay, but that did not deter us from having a wonderful time. The path down to the beach was too steep for my 88-year-old mother, but the home is only a five minute drive From Moonlight State Beach… It’s perfect for any age and any level of ability.

Our group was 4 senior adults and a small dog. Clean upon arrival and exactly as pictured, except the yard is now TURF instead of grass. A very nice, large umbrella was added to the patio…great for afternoons. One of the beach chairs was covered with ants because a previous guest left children’s snacks and pacifiers in the pockets (also under the coffee table). We had trouble with the main TV upon arrival, but the maintenance man arrived within 1-hour of contacting the host. He also fixed the BBQ igniter and got more propane. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, utensils, pots & pans, and very nice appliances. We prepared our own meals 5 of 7 nights. The upstairs unit was occupied for 3 nights. We could definitely hear the walking, running, and voices above our heads. The trains blow their horns from about 4:30am to 10:30pm. You sort of get used to it, or not. On-site parking lot was great. We drove two smaller SUV’s. It's hard to open the door when there is a large truck next to you. W/D are coin-operated...we did not use. Beacon’s Beach access is a sand/rock switchback walkway. There are wooden posts connected with plastic-covered cable, and a few handrails, except at the bottom. We navigated it slowly. The lifeguard assisted someone who was stung by a stingray one day. Neptune Ave is one-way, with one lane for cars, and a pedestrian lane. E-bikes and e-scooters move faster than the cars. Overall, this rental is a step above most others we have rented in the San Diego area.

Great location for walking to wonderful restaurants and excellent access to the beach. We enjoyed the people watching and sunsets from the big yard. This a great vacation spot for a family or couple.

The house is lovely and well-appointed. It has been completely remodeled and is very clean. The yard is a great size and our little doggies enjoyed running around in it. Just across the parking lot, there is a path that zigzags down to the beautiful beach. Lots of restaurants are within walking distance from the house (including dog-friendly ones!). The train horns scared us a bit the first night but we did get used to them. Highly recommend this house for a wonderful vacation!

We've being staying at this place for years. It's impeccable and always getting updated. It's in a great location with great restaurants. Right across from Beacons beach with amazing views.

Listing should include that the beach has a steep switch back that older or disabled people can’t use. Also dogs are not allowed on this beach.

This is a great property for a family getaway. We had four adults, one 12 year old and two small dogs and everybody was comfortable. We loved the large patio and enclosed front yard was perfect for the dogs. Location was ideal with the beach access directly across the road. The house is walking distance to restaurants and shops. The owner was very responsive to all inquiries. All systems worked well and the TV was great for the opening weekend of football. We highly recommend this property !

This was a great getaway for us. It was my husband and I's 50th birthday and we had to cancel our Caribbean cruise due to our dog starting to have seizures. I needed to be able to monitor her 24/7 (there is a 24hr emergency vet-very close by) so we wanted a house at the beach where we could relax in much cooler weather than Arizona. This fit the bill perfectly. We actually thought we would have to stop traveling and this is crushing as I am a travel agent on the side. When we arrived we noticed that they recently upgraded the grass yard. It is fabulous! So the pictures don't actually do the yard justice. The house had everything we needed and the owner was very quick to respond. The house has very nice amenities inside and out. It is located in a very good people watching spot. The people around the area are so friendly and many stopped to talk to us and visit with our dogs. Quite a few restaurants are in walking distance and if not it is just a short drive away. The city recently redid the path down to the beach so while it looks a little difficult it is actually not that bad, there is a lifeguard down at the beach. There is another beach off the bluff just a couple miles down the road. So, while our needs were very different than most, this house has everything you need to have a very nice trip to Encinitas, California with your family and friends. We would definitely like to go back for another stay. Will recommend to clients, family and friends.

The weather wasn’t great so we really enjoyed having a perfectly renovated home to hang out in!! Walking distance to so many shops and restaurants and great location for surfing.

Exceeded expectations. Steps away from the beach and hit several restaurants within an easy walk. Can’t beat the two master bedrooms. Beautiful property.

This is the best, most professional VRBO property around. Owner is always upgrading and improving the property. Location is amazing, right across from the beach. Thank you!!!

This property does not disappoint. We absolutely loved the location across the street from the beach access. The rooms were spacious and appeared exactly like they did in the listing.
We would not hesitate to stay there again.

I have stayed at many rental properties over the years, and this ranks as one of my favorite experiences. The home is beautiful and was perfect for four adults. We loved the backyard and so did our little pup! With easy beach access and a nice view in a quiet, lovely neighborhood this is a perfect Southern California getaway.

A Home Run!
It's obvious the owner knows how to run a good rental program, and as it's apparent they own many others, they know how to create as much value to the renter at more then competitive market rates. This unit was spotless - clean and appealing. It was easy to find, great on-site parking and right across from a fantastic beach. The yard was great for my child, and the outdoor shower was wonderful as she went surfing almost every day. We used the BBQ twice and it was clean and handy right off the patio. The patio chairs were comfortable, and there was to-go chairs for the beach which we used. Inside it had a great kitchen with everything you needed and living room was comfy too. Two big bedrooms and two full baths kept us from spending too much time waiting around. Communication was easy and I feel it was well-valued. We would rent again in a heart beat. Btw it's close to a lot of good places to eat and a nice coffee shop a few minutes down the road.

Best location to the beach and restaurants!
Highly recommend booking!!!
Communication 5 stars!
Richard was very nice and answered all of my questions and accommodated a last minute request.
Check in 5 stars! Super easy!
Location: 1000 stars! It was amazing in every way. Just a hop away from the beach and we walked to the restaurants every day! Do recommend making reservations for weekend dinners (especially sushi)
Beach - it is a downhill walk to the beach and uphill back up but it’s not bad. Littles can handle it. The beach has river rock sized rocks with some areas of sand. The landscape changes with the tides. If you walk further down the beach it gets more sandy. Sunrise adventures can find you some pretty awesome shells!
The unit overall 5 stars!!
Clean, comfey bed, plentiful pillows, nicely decorated, portable AC units in bedrooms (a tad loud but I’ll take some noise over being miserable in a hot room).
Downstairs unit 4 stars.
You can hear the tenants upstairs, the floors creek. They weren’t stomping, just a normal walk, but wanted to disclose in case there are light sleepers in your group, you might bring ear plugs. There is also a commuter train that runs from [very] early morning until maybe 10p? It blows its horn every time it passes the house. Again, ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. I think we are a little sensitive to the train because it’s not something we ever hear at our house, but it wasn’t a deal breaker- it’s something we can totally overlook, we were just happy to be there!
Our 5 year old couldn’t reach the sinks to turn it on/off or brush her teeth- so I would just keep that in mind if you have littles.
This isn’t meant to be taken in a negative way- everything was wonderful and I would rebook in a heartbeat! I would have appreciated reading this review with ear plugs packed! The beach can take care of the rest, it’s food for the soul!!

Right at the Beacons Surf Spot
The location was perfect, close to restaurants and literally across the street from Beacons parking lot. Decor was nicely updated and both bedrooms were large with king beds. Kitchen was well equipped.

Location, location!!
This is such a cute rental in the Encinitas area, we have stayed here a couple of times and love the location and proximity to Beacon’s beach as well as the restaurants in Leucadia! The unit itself has been upgraded and is very nice and comfortable for our family of 4, the owner is very communicative, and we look forward to staying here again!!

Beautiful Beacon Stay
Just left from a 3 night stay at this fantastic property. It is literally a fence away from walking down the bluff to Beacon Beach. Wish we had at the very least, a week here! The home is bright, airy and open. Clean, with all the kitchen and linen necessities. Comfortable beds, plenty of outdoor space and beach boards/toys. The property owner was quick with any communication during our stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us, Richard! Cannot wait to return!

Encinitas get away
Due to a flood in the lower unit the owner moved us to the upper unit. He was able to accommodate us and gave us a partial refund due to construction noise. Great communications. The property is in a perfect location and we had a great 2 weeks.

Great location
My husband and I stayed here 2 times this Summer. Both times we had a great time. The yard is perfect for our dog and when our grandson visited for the day. People watching Was fun and the sunsets were Amazing. Richard and Gary are both very quick with responses to any issues we had. Would definitely recommend this place. Only problem we had was our dog was not allowed on the beach, this was my fault for not looking into that before I booked.

Great location. Well appointed. Best when upstairs unit is unoccupied.
Very nice and well equipped apartment with quality amenities, off-street parking and enviable beach access. We loved popping over for the sunset. Yard and deck were great. The furniture and beds were comfortable and in good shape. The kitchen was well stocked. Location is close to restaurants and coffee and the laid back Leucadia vibe.
We stayed in late December so were ’home’ more than we would be on a summer day. Unfortunately so were the 4-6 people staying upstairs who were unaware than it sounded like they were dragging furniture across the room. The thud of simple walking was hard to ignore so if that sort of thing bothers you, try to reserve the upstairs unit or nab both units for a larger group. The train noise also seemed to carry well in Dec and we kept checking to make sure both double set of windows and wood shutters were closed.

Great views great location
All in all it was a very pleasant stay and the accommodations were clean and cozy. Like all VRBO houses there could always be room for improvement or updates made but I would for sure stay here again...the sunsets are killer!

This property is all you could ever ask for the beach is across the street, the yard is spacious and the washer to wash off before going in the house was great, all the great places to eat within walking distance, the shopping area within a 10 minute drive, San Diego within a 30 min drive, the owner responds quickly to any questions or concerns, overall just an amazing spot. Will be back there for sure to stay.

Always excellent!
We love staying here. No matter which apartment we choose our visits are always awesome. Perfectly clean and right across from the best little beach with good surf. This time we stayed with the one with yard and it was heaven on earth for us as dog owners. Owner is always on top of it with communication and anything else needed. Also laundry is available too.

Perfect for our family
Loved the yard for BBQs and family time. Walk to sand is not horrible, but with a toddler and gear it was a workout to get back up. Rooms were large and bright. FYI if you leave your stuff on the backyard deck or chairs, they will get soaked from the sprinklers in the morning. Our beach towels laying out from previous day got drenched. Couch was really saggy and kinda caved in the center. Only major downside was having to leave after our wonderful stay.
