Refreshed in October 2023 with new paint, carpet, and blinds.
Fall in love with this oceanfront home located on the cliffs of Leucadia. Live like a local and enjoy ocean views, sunsets, and the sound of waves from the living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops. Large TV, wet bar, 2 car garage, washer and dryer, wifi access and operational fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom.
The master bedroom has a king bed. It is located on the upper level and has a blissful ocean view with balcony to enjoy the sunsets. The attached bathroom has a shower, a separate tub and a small TV.
A second bedroom upstairs includes twin beds with a trundle bed and a separate bathroom. The third bedroom is equipped with a Queen bed and bathroom on the main level.
The patio is the star of this home. Complete with a grill to enjoy family time, you’ll be wowed by the beauty of the sea. Beach access is approximately 3 blocks from the home. Great shopping and restaurants nearby.

We enjoyed our 9 day stay in this nice townhome in a great location. Walkable and quiet neighborhood near beach, shopping, and restaurants. Overall a nice comfortable place that had some updates in 2023. Nice linens, extra towels, garage parking with garage door opener, wonderful deck, Master bedroom fan, W/D, sweeper/broom, lots of TV's, and updated furniture and blinds. Beds were firm, but we ended up sleeping decent. We did not cook a lot but kitchen seemed pretty stocked, other than we did not have any dish towels for drying hands or dishes. Home really needs new windows as many would not open at all, and this is an issue when no air conditioner. The big issues were the smell in the garage upon arrival due to the dog feces in the trash cans (smell stuck around for most of the stay), and the home not being properly cleaned after the prior guest. The home did not smell fresh and clean, and there was lots of dog hair on the floors. I paid an extra cleaning fee of $350.00 so my daughter's dogs could visit us at the rental, and the home was not even clean from the prior dog that was there. That was frustrating. The bathroom upstairs was not as clean as expected, and the tub had difficulty draining. I had gotten used to renting through private individual owners who seem to offer a more personal experience and touches. I have rarely ever had cleanliness issues with individual owners. Amenities like beach equipment would have been nice since we were so close to the beach access point. With a few improvements, this could be a 5 star property, and I might look to stay again when visiting our daughter who lives in Carlsbad.

The location is great and view is lovely.Beds were comfortable. However, the condition of the property is tired. The kitchen utensils, drawers, pots & pans were a hodgepode of items and nothing was organized in the cupboards - . Dirty drawers and rusted utensils. Toaster was archaic. One martini glass - thankfully, there were more wine glasses. Need to toss plastic bowls, etc., Knives couldn't slice anything. Window in master dosen't close and is in dire need of repair. Really didn't appreciate having other people's garbage smell the garage for days until pickup. No tissues, chair in kitchen is falling apart when you move it -Theatre room? Fitness equipment? Cupboards are laminate and loose. You can barbecue and they will charge you $25 if you don't clean it, but they don't leave you a barbecue brush?! You have to call in advance. Although I emailed Stubbs and, received a response days later stating I'm sorry - someone should have gotten back to you... and we are still waiting. Couldn't sit outside - cushions were filthy. Need to have someone pay attention to details to have a better experience. Spent most of our time not in-house.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this property. The views were definitely breathtaking. Waking up and going to bed to the sounds of the ocean each day and night were unforgettable. The property location is amongst million dollar homes and prime real estate location in Leucadia. Many places to eat close by whether you want Italian, Coffee, Ice Cream, Deli, Sandwiches. It’s also very close to Carlsbad since we took our son to LegoLand - 15min drive. We also went to SD Zoo Safari Park in Encinitas - 45 min drive. Moonlight Beach is within walking distance just under a mile...it’s currently under repairs, however they have a nice cafe and playground for the children. The property is very spacious and well equip. The bed downstairs is very comfortable. The master bed room mattress is hard as a rock. There also is a room for the children with 2 twins. The master bed room needs some work although the bathtub is amazing with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean the windows around the bathtub do not open and close very easily. They are rusted out from the salt water. These need to be fixed. The shower and bathroom in the master bedroom are very small. We chose to use the bathroom in the hallway instead. The staff were very nice by accommodating a smooth check in and check out process. They even had some come and clean the windows middle of week because it rained a few days before. I would stay here again if the master bed room was addressed for the price of this place and the views you cannot go wrong.

We enjoyed sitting out on the lanai, watching the waves and seeing the dolphins swimming by. Needs more thorough cleaning such as carpets need cleaning, blinds need to be replaced. Outdoor area needs landscaping improved old weeds and old glass pots in area around terrace need removing. Generally acceptable condition several things were replaced by Scrubbs such as new umbrella and screens on doors. We enjoyed the beautiful view and location.Would stay again

Stubb’s property management is very organized, made the check-in process simple and easy, and even allowed me to check-in early since my VRBO was ready. The kitchen in the house was well stocked with dishes, cookware, spices and appliances. The wine opener (a simple corkscrew) was broken on arrival but since I didn’t expect one I had brought my own. The house itself could use a good deep clean but overall the towels and bed linens were extremely clean as they are professionally laundered. All of the windows, doors and even the glass fence around the patio facing the ocean were all sparkling clean and spotless allowing us to enjoy the gorgeous unobstructed ocean views. The bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable ( I have a hard time finding comfortable beds so I was pleasantly surprised). The location can’t be beat . The VRBO even included bikes in the garage to use. My only complaints are the house could use new patio furniture/cushions, a gate on the back patio which connects to the side stairs and a really good deep clean of the house, otherwise it’s perfect . Definitely would stay here again and the views, location and helpfulness of the property management company made it all worth it.

Wonderful property situated on one of the most prestigious roads in Leucadia
Myself and four friends flew over from London and stayed here so we could attend a wedding.
The property is a little out of the main Encinitas strip but walkable (10 minutes). The property is spacious, clean and has the most amazing views to the rear.
Our favourite restaurant nearby was called Birdseye (Thai) and favourite coffee shop was called Pannikin.
Overall an amazing trip and wonderful property which was reasonably priced.

Stubb’s property management is very organized, made the check-in process simple and easy, and even allowed me to check-in early since my VRBO was ready.
The kitchen in the house was well stocked with dishes, cookware, spices and appliances. The wine opener (a simple corkscrew) was broken on arrival but since I didn’t expect one I had brought my own.
The house itself could use a good deep clean but overall the towels and bed linens were extremely clean as they are professionally laundered. We've stayed in some places in Encinitas that were straight out of the 60's but in a cool beachy vibe. This was built in 1990 and NOTHING has been done since. Zero maintenance. Duct tape on floor where refrigerator had leaked, 2 colors of duct tape so obviously no repair for a while. Not even a decent couch, 2 loveseats so you couldn't even stretch out and they were stiff and uncomfortable. Kitchen was poorly stocked, no cookie sheet, maybe 5 drinking glasses. Spare bedding stacked oddly in closets and kitchen not organized at all. Did I mention vertical blinds? (1990) and blinds in bedrooms were cheap and translucent. Yes, the bathrooms all need updated but I could look past that if they were maintained and cleaned. All of that being said, the location was great and oceanfront is amazing. But even the deck has a stack of weird glass lighting stuffed in the corner- just throw them away! Weeds, no landscape maintenance. Birds had even made a nest in a canned light on the overhang. Location on ocean is wonderful but just some basic maintenance is needed, doesn't need to be the latest style just maintain.

No wine glasses, all of the outdoor furniture is broken and unusable, the vertical blinds falling off when touched, cigarette butts everywhere outside, windows won't close (swollen because of age ) fireplace upstairs doesn't work, and fan controls don't work. Downstairs toilet is broken and runs constantly, again windows won't shut.The only thing was the view/ too expensive for such a POS house, the owners need to put 10k (at least) to make this livable. So disappointed, came all the way bro Maui for this.

You can't beat the view and location of the Coastal Soul property. It was wonderful to watch the sun set over the water every night and wake up to dolphins playing in the mornings. It's a short walk down to both Stonesteps and Beacons beaches, as well as to the many fantastic bars and restaurants on the 101. Easy to check in, find the house, and park, with easy communication through the Stubbs agency. The house itself takes a little getting used to - the fixtures and features are a bit of a hodgepodge, the water gets very hot, and there's significant train noise in the bedrooms on the street side of the house, but all that is totally worth it based on view and location. So happy with the memories made during our stay.

I don't want to give this place 1 star. And the property management company is actually very communicative and responsive. The location is unbeatable and the view is great. The wifi is adequate enough (~50Mbps) on the ocean side of the house. Beds are good and sheets are good.But there is lots of mold in the house, especially at the fridge which is extra gross. Other travelers have mentioned this and it is still not resolved. The carpets are dirty and old and the kind that need to be replaced. I believe the property management cleaned it, but it needs a DEEP clean, after EVERY visitor.Lots of things broken in the house that are highly irritating*MOLD in kitchen bathroom and bedrooms*master bedroom screen door broken*all screen doors have big holes*blinds dont work well and are missing many pieces*sharp carpet staple/nail right at entrance of bedroom, cut my foot twice until i remembered to step around it*leather bench is broken*1 outside patio lounge chair is broken*other outside patio chairs are flimsy*kitchen equipment and appliances are all really bad/old/grossOverall, its incredibly disappointing. The view was absolutely everything I’d hoped it would be. You could hear the waves in the house. So easy to sit on the deck & enjoy watching surfers & dolphins & beautiful sunsets. Tough to beat a spot overlooking the ocean and the view is what immediately grabs you in this home. The back deck is all you need to justify renting this property. The rental is in a great location with walking distance amenities plentifully available in beautiful Encinitas. Would highly recommend this property.
All that being said, while the property was very clean, it definitely could use some love. Refrigerator didn't really work, bathrooms are very outdated, and blinds are in a fragile state meaning you will get a sunrise wakeup most mornings. But fixing some of those minor issues would get this location back to perfect and are easier to overlook as you stare at the beautiful pacific ocean.

There was a few things that could be fixed. A few of the chairs inside and out were broken. Broken cabinet doors that kept falling off. Dryer didn’t work very well. But all in all we had a good trip. If I recommended the place to a friend I would let them know these issues.

My family of five stayed at this property in July and had a lovely experience. The Ocean view is fabulous and the beach access was a short walk from the Coastal Soul. Great spot on the ocean in Leucadia. Great attention from Stubbs Rental with very smooth check in and out. They were very attentive.

Only negatives….windows were covered with bird poop(they did have someone come clean them 4 days after we got there), garbage cans were full, tv didn’t work(they replaced it the 2nd day we were there).

The management company is rock solid and we will absolutely be doing business with/booking a home with them again (Thanks Tyler)! The only issues with the property cleanliness wise was the carpets, they need a good professional cleaning and the blinds need to be replaced (they have some mold, which is not a surprise given this house is literally above ie ocean) in the guest bedroom and bathroom on the main floor. Otherwise we’re were very happy with the rental, and plan to come back in the future!

We loved the large living room/dining room area, and the large deck overlooking the ocean. We also liked being able to use the garage which attaches to the house.
