Sunnyside is a desirable neighborhood close to Sandpoint, Idaho, where folks enjoy living out in the country on or near the lake. It's also a popular recreation area with public access at the Oden Wildlife Management Area, Sunnyside Access, Hawkins Point and shoreline managed by Idaho Fish and Game. The area includes longtime residents and more recent transplants to the area, as well as seasonal residents. Sunnyside is teeming with wildlife, from waterfowl to big game, while Lake Pend Oreille is home to many species of fish, including rainbow trout, kokanee, bass, whitefish, perch, bull trout and more. The lake has a thriving fishery and with 111 miles of shoreline, much of it public, there's a lot to explore by boat, canoe or kayak, or by hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. Sunnyside is between Sandpoint and Hope, Idaho, and either town may be accessed by boat or car for dining, shopping, concerts and other events.
Sandpoint and the surrounding towns of Dover, Kootenai and Ponderay, as well as the Schweitzer shuttle parking lot in ski season, have a free SPOT bus. Amtrak makes its only stop in Idaho at the Sandpoint depot daily. Rental cars are available in Sandpoint or at the Spokane international Airport. Sandpoint Airport has a 6,000-foot paved runway. For our guests arriving by private plane in Sandpoint, we can possibly make arrangements for a loaner car. The host's shop and barns are on the property as well and are off-limits to guests. The owner may access outbuildings, move equipment or be present on other areas on the property while guests are staying in the house. The property also includes resident equines (horses and mules), and guests are not allowed inside the fences with them; however, they may pet or feed them treats from the other side of the fence. The mules are friendly with people but not dogs. Keep your dogs leashed and outside the fenced horse pastures at all times for their safety.
During summer and especially on weekends, you may encounter heavier traffic and parked vehicles along a half-mile stretch of Sunnyside Access or at the Hawkins Point public boat dock and ramp. Watch for traffic, people and wildlife on the road at all times.

We had a lovely peaceful stay at this family property. The beautiful views from the cabin and deck were fantastic to enjoy through the day. It was a great getaway with an abundance of resources on the local area which helped guide our activities in addition to the suggestions from the host at check-in. The cabin is well stocked, and there are plenty of games and movies for the whole family. A kayak and other water toys are available at the beach too.

The view was beautiful and the house was great very clean and had everything you need for staying. We felt like we just had to bring clothes, food and drinks. We had 3 dogs and it was roomy to have them there. The only thing is the private beach we did not access because we walked down there and felt like we were intruding on the people that were staying down there. We used the public dock and beach area. I think also just know there is other people staying on the property and do walk right by the house to get to the hot tub and their camping sights, which wasn’t a big deal but we weren’t aware of that.

This has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of property around Lake Pend Oreille! The views are spectacular, the lake was clean and warm and perfect for swimming. The house was comfortable for our family of 6 and nice and clean. The private beach is shared amongst other guests (this host has several different listings on the same large piece of property) with a sturdy dock. We didn’t know there was a private beach until the last day so spent our lazy time at the boat ramp right across the road. The kids had fun jumping off the dock and we enjoyed watching the boats go by. We drove down to Silverwood for 2 days of our vacation—about an hour drive each way. There is a grocery store and Walmart 10-15 minutes away in the town of Ponderay so no need to stop off in Sandpoint like we did! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at this Air B&B and would stay here again.

Country meets the beach
We enjoyed our week at the vacation property. Billie and her husband were welcoming and very nice hosts. Gave us lots of local information to make the most of our time there. Excellent restaurant suggestions - not too far from the property!
Location was very convenient as we had 3 vehicles a boat and ATV trailer which fir nicely on the property. Would definitely return. Thanks for the enjoyable stay.

This property was unbelievably below average and unbearably disappointing for my family and I. To start this review off, there are no blinds blocking the driveway, it's a total invasion of privacy.. Now that I'm on the subject of privacy, nowhere on the site during or after booking does it state that you are sharing the property with multiple other humans and animals, nor does it announce that there are a ridiculous amount of "rules" that you (as an adult being treated like a child) are told you must follow. Who wants to use a communal hot tub? No thank you. The kitchen was disgusting upon arrival all pots pans and utensils were absolutely filthy. We had to drive back into town to buy disposable kitchenware. The house makes horrifying noises at night, 3 nights and I didn't get more than an hour of sleep combined. There are unexplainable things in that forest as well, we couldn't wait to drive away from that property. We checked out at 3am. During the booking process, I indicated that it was myself, my husband and my children that would be staying at the property. Once we checked out, I received a message from the owner(?) questioning me about children being at the property and how many guests that we actually had there. Also, the dumpster was overflowing onto the road from the other humans on the property, we couldn't even throw the trash away. We have stayed in multiple vacation homes and hotels..never had such a disturbing experience. Literally couldn't pay us to stay at t

Lovely family retreat with beautiful views
We loved our stay on the lake. The beach was shared with other guests but we often had it to ourselves and when we didn’t everyone was super kind and we never felt encroached on. Billie said there’d be plenty of space for everyone and she was right. Billie works sooo hard making sure everything is pleasant for all her guests. We appreciated her calm and gracious hospitality. There was a garden at the house she said we could eat from. We enjoyed playing games in the afternoon at the big, beautiful dining table. It is a very short walk down to the beach. It was inordinately hot for June while we were there and the two air conditioning units had trouble keeping up but who can control the weather?!! All in all, it was a really wonderful stay and we’d recommend it!

Affordable and beautiful
We really enjoying our stay at the house. The house is quite big and comfortable. We have a 2.5 year old and ended up swimming at the public boat access point because the beach is more gradual. While the boat launch can get busy in the afternoon and evening, it is totally quiet and lovely in the morning and a perfect place to drink a cup of coffee. We will definitely go back and hope to rent both the house and the teepee with a bigger group.

The vacation was for my family of five and my wife's parents. We were looking for a secluded place that had internet, AC and took pets. The property posting advertised all three. Billie told us the check-in time was 4 PM, which was a little later than we're used to when renting. We arrived right at 4 PM, so we were disappointed Billie and Mike were still cleaning the house while their dogs ran around the yard. Our dogs were locked in the car and were quite excited to get out. After waiting 35 minutes in the parking lot and heat, we were allowed to go into the house. Entering the house, we were greeted by a large swamp cooler sitting on the kitchen floor. It was connected by a tube to a cardboard cutout in the window. The kitchen appeared spacious. Moving our bags to the back of the house, we noticed the house was warm, and the bedrooms were hot. My wife mentioned to Billie the house was warm, and she was told to keep the doors closed. From what I could see, the house did not have AC and or any vents to move air to the rooms. The floor unit lacked the BTU to cool home this size. Our stay was at the end of July in the summertime. Temperatures were typical for that time of year.We were pleasantly surprised by the large living room. It was quite spacious. Unfortunately, it was one of the warmest places in the house. There was plenty of room for our clothes but not our food. The refrigerator was filled with the last party's food. We also found the dishwasher filled with dirty dishes and laundry left in the washer and dryer. The cub bards were full, so we had to put most of our food on the countertop. After spending some time cleaning and arranging, we were ready to cook dinner. The property is nestled up against a bend in the road overlooking a public boat launch. The lake is beautiful, and the roadway was quite Monday through Thursday. Their private beach is shared with tipi (tent) renters, so be aware it's not private. We were unable to use the private beach since the tipi renter had three large dogs. Behind the house, they rent RV space, and RV guests are allowed to use the hot tub also located behind the house. Instantly the kids noticed the internet did not work. The first night was hard to sleep due to the heat. They have a loud high-speed floor fan to help push air to the back of the house since there's no HVAC system. Windows were opened at night, but it did not cool off until about 2 AM. Our first sunrise was magnificent until a random

The property was as advertised and lots of room. Does get busy at the State park loading dock. Had to back in the boat every day from the road. I would suggest the owners purchase Dock whips for a boat so it could be left in the water with peace of mind.

Great house on the lake
We really loved this place. So peaceful. Hopefully a market will open closer to the house as it is quite remote. Such a nice spot though.

Great Get-Away Location!
Great accommodations, beautiful location, and wonderful hosts. What more could you ask?

Amazing
Words can't describe how wonderful our stay was, but I will do my best. The house was warm, inviting and we felt so at home. The dock and beach shoreline was probably the highlight of our entire week. Even though the weather was hot, the occasional dip in the lake made it perfect for spending the entire time outside. It felt so private and adults, small children and dogs had simply an amazing time. All amenities were beyond adequate, with a kitchen that had all things needed to prepare meals. We created lasting memories in a spectacular setting.

The best family vacation ever!
So many wonderful family memories were made here in too short of a time. The house was perfect and the views were incredible. The water was great for swimming-not too cold-and we caught fish off the dock. We all want to share this experience again. We couldn’t have asked for more gracious hosts than Billie, Mike and Two Spot. We will definitely plan on a return trip.

Stunning view in a big house!
Our whole family liked it a lot. It had great space and a magnificent view of the lake. We really enjoyed the hot tub!! (but very dark on that side of the house). We had some issues with lots of small flies that came in at night. We also had problems with the combination lock. Roomy fridge and freezer. Double showers and toilet was great. We strongly recommend it!

Wonderful view of Lake Pend Orielle from the deck, and peaceful surroundings.
Fascinating history of a place owned for generations by the same family. Very comfortable house with an up-to- date kitchen and spectacular views. Low-key quiet neighborhood and good access to lake swimming, fishing, and boating. For animal lovers, a very friendly outside cat and adjacent to a pasture with a horse and mules that love apples and carrots.

Fabulous
The property is wonderful and feels like home. Billie Jean and Mike are wonderful, and I would definitely stay here again

Relaxing girl's weekend on the lake!
I was so impressed with the charm and location of this one of a kind property. I will certainly go back! For the adventurous that like the outdoors, it is a great location. Kayaking on the lake was gorgeous, especially the waterfowl during fall migration, and having the protection from the wind going south from the house. Great bike riding spot for the same reasons, hybrid or mountain bike is the best option, miles of road on the quiet tucked away loop that the property is located on. Having a group of ladies have a weekend away from everyday life, especially with the hot tub, deck with great lake view, awesome sunsets, and bonfire on the lake, was just great! I would rent this property again in a heartbeat! Rent the tipi too so you can sleep right on the lake and listen to the waves crash in. My only advice in bringing a dog is to make sure the owner knows (somehow that didn't get sent with my reservation) and that your dog is good with being near horses

Great House, Great Host, Great Setting
Our extended family group of seven plus a newborn had a great time at Billie Jean’s property. In addition to being immaculate and comfortable for everyone, the house is fun and a little retro-quirky in a way we all found delightful. Like the rest of the house, the kitchen is well-appointed and very tidy. We had more than adequate supplies to do some of our own cooking while visiting.
The lakefront property is lovely and the kids had a wonderful time wading and finding treasures, even if we were a little too late in the season for actual swimming. The house is a little off the beaten path, but for us the escape from civilization and cell-phone reception was a positive, not a negative. We enjoyed seeing (and hearing) the long trains across the lake and watching the deer from the big windows in the living room.
Billie Jean is a thoughtful and attentive host. She was obviously concerned about making sure we were well settled and had all we needed. All of this was available for a reasonable price.
We were very pleased and wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the lake house again if we find ourselves in the Sandpoint area in the future.

Beautiful view, great location and wonderful house!
Our family spent a wonderful and all too short stay in this great house. Spectacular views, convenient location and great hosts.
The beach is literally at the end of the driveway, the house is very well kept, supplied with pillows and linens. The kitchen wants for nothing, and the house was scrupulously clean.
Very near Sandpoint for convenient dinning and shopping, and far enough away to be on a quiet stretch of road.

The house was very clean.
Perfect place for our family of 6 adults and a toddler. Very close to the boat launch and short walk to the lake. Large deck overlooking the lake

Family F.U.N.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days at Billie's lake home. It was clean, comfortable, and close to many activities: walking, hiking, boating, swimming, sightseeing, playing, shopping, relaxing, and making memories. It's just as advertised, and Billie is available to answer questions. One of our favorite adventures with our children and grandchildren! Thank you!
