About this house rental
'Pondering Pines' lake home is the *perfect* family vacation rental for any season. Updated with new furnishings and decor, this home is located in the well known 'Cottages' community on the north side of Lake Pend Oreille - 1 mile from Yokes (supermarket) and just 3 miles to Schweitzer Mountain Road.
This large log home sits on 2+ acres of private, picturesque land with waterfront on Kootenai Bay of Lake Pend Oreille. Picture a large, green massive yard with mature fir and pine trees. Gorgeous wood floors, plenty of natural light, and an updated kitchen that's fully appointed. An 'L' shaped living/dining and kitchen area, with custom dining table, provide sweeping views of Lake Pend Oreille and a wrap around exterior deck and trees provide shade and privacy. Master suite with King bed, has a separate sitting area with couch and Queen sleeper. Across the hall is another King bedroom all with luxury linens. A main floor full bathroom and large laundry room complete the main floor.
The lower level has a separate family room with huge 70" TV, bar, foosball table, access to the large, covered hot tub and two additional bedrooms with a full bathroom. The 3rd bedroom has a Queen bed with luxury linens and the 4th bedroom is ideal for those kids, cousins, grandkids and young adults with FOUR full sized beds (2 bunk beds, full size) - each with it's own reading light and phone/computer charging area.
Outside relax in the Adirondack rocking chairs, wood table and deck with waterfront views. Watch eagles and ospreys soar by, plucking a fish out of Boyer Slough and Kootenai Bay. Saunter down the short path to the waterfront where you'll discover a true Teepee (available during summer months only - kids will love this and can sleep in the Queen bed inside). At the water's edge enjoy an incredible Cabana (with dart board, table and chairs, refrigerator -- see photos -- and yes it has Edison bulb lights wrapped all around for night time use). Make s'mores around the massive firepit and kids will love the new sandy beach. For summer months, 2 large stand up paddle boards (SUPs), 1 small stand up paddle board and 2 kayaks all included at no extra charge. A private dock with large boat lift allows you to safely moor your own boat - or rent ours!
What we LOVE about this home is the land and family-fun-opportunities all around it. Kootenai Bay is ideal for fishing, water sports and paddling/exploring.
The location of this home is excellent! Just 3 miles to downtown Sandpoint, 1 mile from great grocery stores and 12 miles to Schweitzer. Sleeping 14 easily - rent this home now! Book now.
**Note: Each year, on September 18th OR the 3rd Sunday in September (whichever is later), the Army Corps of Engineers begins dropping the water level of Lake Pend Oreille until ultimately reducing it by a total of 10-12 feet. Around the 4th week in September ALL boat docks and boat lifts on the lake become inaccessible and unusable, as the water completely recedes back from the shoreline leaving just bare ground beneath the docks. The agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers states the lake level must be restored to full pool level each year no later than July 4th, however, the last 10+ years the lake water has been at full pool level around the 2nd or 3rd week in June.

nice big yard and driveway.
not a great place to swim, no real beach and it is on a little inlet so the vegetation in the water accumulates. not the easiest place to moor your boat, shallow and narrow especially for bigger boats, we have a 24 foot pontoon boat but not a big issue. overall nice place and it accomodated my wife and I and two of our son's families.

What a wonderful home for a family vacation! The home was beautiful and being lakefront was a perfect location. Kids (and adults) loved the kayaks and paddleboards. The firepit was enjoyed nightly with s'mores! We hope to return!

We will be back - what an amazing property! There were six adults and we all had our own private space, plus the wonderful kitchen, dining, living room and beach area. Highly recommend.

A delicious treat away from it all, and the autumn colors were spectacular!

The property is in a lovely neighborhood and is clean and modern. The lower part of the property has a dock, sandy beach, and wonderful view of the lake. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only other comment is that the beach part of the property is down a slope, so older guests might have trouble going up and down.

Really enjoyed our family gathering at Pondering Point. Beautiful home and property right on the lake and close to Sandpoint.

Our family had a wonderful time at the property. Plenty of space, lots of green area for playing with our kiddos, and the house was well stocked with the basics and more. Great fireplace on the shore. Will definitely visit again.

The house was spacious, clean, well situated. It was the perfect place for our 15th annual mother, daughters, and kiddos getaway. The furnishing were high end and the house was cared for as if a family lived there fulltime. We plan to stay again.

The property is just as billed and is a fantastic place for a multi-family getaway, which is what we did. It was quiet, clean and very relaxing. We had an issue with a bathroom one of the days and the property management was super responsive and got someone out immediately to fix it. Couldn’t ask for a better interaction.

Great place and location
We had never been to the Pacific Northwest and kind of randomly chose the Sandpoint region to stay while we explored the area. We completely lucked out and chose the right place! Great house, on the water, with awesome views of the water and surrounding mountains. Deer came by to eat from the apple tree, too. We ate at some great places and drank some great beer. The amenities were also well thought out. Firewood, lighters, hot tub, Foosball, games, cards, and smart TVs. Well appointed kitchen that we didn't use because we wanted to eat out. Coffee maker with a bag of fresh coffee for us. Zero complaints from our stay!

We had a great time at the home! The decor was lovely. My only comment would be that the teepee was no longer up and the paddle boards and kayaks were no longer at the home. We truly appreciated the early morning delivery of a paddle board and 2 kayaks! Our grandkids used them a lot!

My dad, siblings and their spouses and kids had an incredible time at 117 Nancy. Beautiful lakefront settings with SUPs and Kayaks for water activities. 4 teenagers had a fantastic 5 days nonstop being in the lake. Adults had their private time in the basement with a wet bar, foosball table and large TV. All in all it was 1 of the best vacation we ever have. We will be back for sure. Thanks for having us.

We loved everything. Close to lake, hot tub great, lots of rooms. Basement was nice for kids to play etc. The only downside was the smoke from forest fire. That can't be helped. 💜💜💜

Had an incredible weekend with my closest girlfriends. The property, location, and activities available were awesome. One piece of feedback, during our 2 day stay, someone showed up both days. One was our first night there, in the evening, someone the next morning, and then lawn crew in the middle of the day. A little frustrating, otherwise incredible stay and property.

We loved our stay. The house was very clean and decorated beautifully in the Northwest style. The location on the lake was great - easy to kayak and paddleboard. Amazing views. The teepee is fun too. Overall great stay!

We had the best time here. Beautiful home. Loved the waterfront. My husband said it was the best place we had stayed in 5 years. Loved it.

Best Trip Ever!
We came to stay to celebrate my husbands 40th bday and had the most magical time. This property was the perfect getaway. Oh and the beds...they were amazing! We all said we had the best sleep of our lives here! We were secluded enough to be our loud mouth selves yet close enough to run and grab supplies as needed. This properties views were insanely beautiful. We would 10/10 recommend. The property management was on top of everything and so easy to work with, they just text you everything you need to know and leave you to enjoy yourselves...so nice! Only bummer was the teepee wasn’t set up and we’re assuming due to winter weather but didn’t stop us from having the best getaway. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you need but we suggest bringing a sharp knife...that was our only struggle in cooking for 12 3 meals a day for 3 days. We’ll be back!
