About this house rental
This is our personal home which we have completely remodeled. This beach bungalow located on Moran Lake in Santa Cruz, near Capitola, is breathtaking and feels like your personal spa retreat. Situated in a very quiet neighborhood, it feels so removed from city life, yet close to all amenities. The beach is a 5 minute walk away, with Pleasure Point, the best surfing spot in Santa Cruz, 5 minutes in the other direction with panoramic views of Monterey Bay. Or stay in and relax in your own Hot Springs spa on the back deck. The home is open with lots of natural light from large windows overlooking the lake and feels larger than the square footage. The kitchen has all you need with a 1956 antique O'Keefe and Merritt gas stove. (It works great!) There are two large decks in the back that overlook the lake with peeks of Moran beach through the eucalyptus trees. The home is a mix of Asian and Hawaiian decor furnished with Japanese antiques. So we ask that you treat it with special care. It is best suited for a small family or 2 couples. For monthly or other rates, email us directly by clicking on Contact Owner. We have a firm NO ANIMAL policy; no exceptions.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, Santa Cruz County has increased their tax for vacation rentals to 14%. This will be reflected in an adjusted quote.
There is so much to do in Santa Cruz, it's almost difficult to know where to start. Santa Cruz and the Monterey area have many recreational and cultural diversions to keep you busy and entertained. The Santa Cruz Mountains provide wonderful hiking, mountain biking, and exploring in the beautiful state parks including Big Basin with its ancient redwoods, Nisene Marks, and Henry Cowell. Local attractions include the Beach Boardwalk, yacht harbor, municipal and Capitola wharfs, Monterey Aquarium, Elkhorn Slough, the Mystery Spot and the downtown Pacific Garden mall. UC Santa Cruz, Cabrillo Community College, and the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium offer many cultural events such as the annual Shakespeare Festival during the summer, musicals and plays, and symphony. The Boardwalk offers free outdoor concerts on Fridays during the summer. There also are wonderful local wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey with several wine festivals during the year. Water sports abound with world class surfing, sailing, fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, swimming, diving (some of the most challenging but beautiful diving in the world) and paddle surfing. Santa Cruz is a very bike friendly town with bike lanes all through town and along the coastline. And there are many golf courses nearby and in Monterey.
There are also phenomenal restaurants and eateries all within a few minutes walk or drive. Is there a particular kind of cuisine you enjoy? I'm sure you can find it somewhere in Santa Cruz. We have several farmer's markets which provide some of the most delicious, freshest produce (mostly organic) and bakery items. Nearest movie theaters are only a mile away.
Come to play, explore, or relax. Our home and the environs will definitely allow for all.

Girlfriends of over 30 years celebrate another year of friendship. We looked forward to coming back to this home to make new memories. The hot tub was perfect on chilly days. The kitchen was a delight to make favorite meals and catch up.
Thanks for sharing your home, it was wonderful!

This was the perfect spot for my daughter, son in law, granddaughter, husband and I to stay while visiting our son in SantaCruz! It had great space to visit indoors and out! The kitchen was fabulous and had every type of equipment and appliance you could need. The neighborhood was beautiful and wonderful for walking! It was only a short walk to a beach or to The Point to watch surfers. We enjoyed the hot tub and view from the deck! Definitely not a complaint, but some of the deck furniture was a bit worn! We still enjoyed the space for morning coffee and dinner one evening! This lovely home will be our top choice when we come to visit our son again!

This was my family's third stay, and as always we had a great time. This property is in a fantastic location -- my sister and I went for long walks along the cliff coastline each morning. You can get fresh seafood close by at the harbor. And the hot tub on the back porch is an amazing vacation treat!

We loved this property!! You are close to the beach, a five minute walk. The smell of the eucalyptus on the back deck is wonderful. We had our one year old and four year old with us and they both loved the shower. We walked to the point market for breakfast burritos. Parking is easy. It’s a sleepy neighborhood. The widows are great quality and the home is very quiet and warm.

The property was amazing, the location was perfect for getting to places down to Capitola and up to downtown Santa Cruz and the Boardwalk. Sitting in the hot tub, you could see the ocean and hear the crashing waves. The walk to the beach was super easy and took only 5 minutes.
The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking appliances, even though we ate out most of the time, and there were games and a great TV for streaming our services.
The wifi was perfect and I was able to sit outside with my laptop and coffee doing work every morning!
Overall, I would love to be able to stay here again sometime in the future.

We visit Santa Cruz every July and have stayed in multiple rental houses. This house is definitely our favorite! This was our second stay and again it did not disappoint. The house is spacious and comfortable, the view from the back deck is amazing, and there is an awesome beach and the pleasure point surf break both in short walking distance. The hot tub is perfectly hot. There are plenty of towels. Everything works. The owners are non-intrusive but responsive when needed. The neighbors are quiet. We felt like this was our home away from home.

My girlfriends of 30+ years get together every year and we have had a lot of nice stays, but this place is our new favorite! We all love to cook, and the kitchen is perfect for creating your favorite meals. The walk to the beach was perfect for us older ladies, the hot tub was amazing for aching muscles. Absolutely enjoyed this place that gave us peace, relaxation, and opportunity to make new memories. Thanks!

This place is funky. The pro is the location and the back deck is pleasant. That's about it. For the prices they are charging I was shocked. The biggest issue was the heater DOES NOT WORK. At all! (We stayed in winter) It was very very uncomfortable. And the owner ghosted me. He responded once when I told him the issue but never followed up and the issue was not fixed. Luckily there is a fireplace there, but we were out and about all day and some evenings, making it not a viable solution for the entire stay. Plus wood was on our dime. A heater is just the most essential amenity a house needs to have. I can't believe they get away with this! Not only that, the bathroom window is broken and so you must leave it open all the time! Again, we were there when the temps dipped into the 30s one of the nights and I felt like I was camping. Unacceptable! It also smells really odd and funky in the home, seems like there is a mildew issue.
Again, nice location and the back deck is nice but you just are not getting your money's worth with this place. Its old and needs some attention. I feel totally gypped. Definitely would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to others.

Great location near the beach; bungalow with extraordinary equipped kitchen, two bedrooms and a well tempered hotpot under old Eukalyptus trees. We loved this special place and had a wonderful week with our friends. Thanks a lot, we’ll be back ;)

I don't want to tell everyone how sweet this cabin is, how close to a perfect beach, covered in soothing eucalyptus trees, and how pleasantly uplifting this cabin is! I want it all for myself, for whenever I need to be uplifted. Don't let everyone know.

My sister and I brought my folks to this property last year and liked it so much we returned as a family this year. The setting along the slough is beautiful, and it's a quick walk to the coast. We did sunrise walks to Capitola, and sunsets over the water at the little pocket beach close by. The hot tub overlooking the slough out back felt amazing after cold walks. And there's a great seafood market down at the harbor. We hope to be back next year!

Great place in an ideal location very close to downtown Santa Cruz. We were visiting for the Santa Cruz Half Ironman and this property was exactly what we needed. The spa was an added bonus to enjoy ! Tony was super responsive when communicating. Thanks !

Just minutes from the beach, bordering a lagoon surrounded by eucalyptus trees, the house was comfortable and impeccable. The kitchen was furnished with everything you could possibly need. Japanese decor was beautiful. Newly remodeled kitchen was fabulous!

Pleasure Point Gem
Situated on a lagoon with a view of the crashing waves at the beach, we loved the location of this vacation home. In a quiet neighborhood, but close to the beach as well as food and shopping options. It was great to sit out on the back deck and just enjoy the views for hours. Interior of the home was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tony and Laura’s! Such a beautiful location, the 5 minute walk to the beach was awesome, and the hot tub a favorite! Very responsive to questions about the property before our trip. We hope to return for another trip!

Best place to stay
Stayed here last year and this year and I can’t think of a better place to go. Hot tub overlooking the lake, the smell of eucalyptus trees, 2 minute walk to a beach that isn’t busy. This place is the perfect relaxing getaway. On a map it’s 10 minutes away from everything but when you are there it feels like you are far away from everything. The house is amazing and we love all of the beach/Hawaiian decor. The house is spacious for its size and everyone had their own space. The view from the window and the deck is amazing and you can sit on the deck with your cup of coffee and listen to the waves as the sun comes up. I really can’t tell you how amazing this place is, but come and enjoy it for yourself it’s worth every penny.

Overall, great experience in quiet location with beautiful nature and side view of ocean! Easy 5 minute walk to beach.

Love This House
This was a perfect location for my family as it was just 2 miles from Castagnola Deli Capitola and a mile from Pleasure Point Pizza.... OMG GREAT FOOD. Relaxed with the best view while enjoying my Turkey Pesto on the deck and the HEATED FLOOR in the bathroom was a game changer. Only thing I was disappointed with was the cleaning being I found a dirty sticky counter and crumbs on the floor and being I'm a germaphobe that was lack luster, however the beds were VERY Comfortable and linen smelled amazing so all N all I would DEFINITELY COME BACK AND RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION to any of my friends or family and as for myself I can't wait to come back....

Fabulous home in a great location
This property is just beautiful, and the location is stunning. It was such a treat to be so close to the ocean, and to be able to sit in a hot-tub along an estuary! This was the best VRBO I've ever seen in terms of kitchen supplies, and we bought fresh fish nearby at the harbor. My sister and I caught sunrises and sunsets over Monterey Bay, and my parents enjoyed reading and drinking coffee while looking at the beautiful view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Classy beach house
This property is located next to a creek with eucalyptus trees. It is lovely when the tide is in. There is a nice deck out back. Furniture has seen a better day. Many of the chairs could not hold a person as screws were missing. We did not use it but there is a hot tub. Clean and hot! Kitchen is stocked with EVERYTHING. very conveient. Beds are comfortable. Great location but you do have to drive for groceries or restaurants. It is a nice area with plenty to do and a lot of walking.

Great location on the East Side of SC, close to the beach and easy access to East Cliff and Capitola. Hot tub was amazing, lagoon views are a plus.Only complaint is speaker system was quite confusing / old connection so wasn’t able to connect music.

Perfect for our family of three. Walk to the beach, very clean and covid conscious. Owners were very accommodating and quick to respond. Would definitely stay there again.

Tony & Laura were awesome from beginning to end. We loved this home. It was in an awesome location, you could walk to the beach/breakfast. The house was cozy, very well appointed, cool stove/kitchen if you like to cook, so quiet at night you could hear a pin drop. You can hear the ocean waves from the jacuzzi at night. We felt super relaxed. We actually went for the Jazz Festival and were gone most of the time, I wished we had spent (1) more day just to enjoy the house/location more. Great deck, we had breakfast outside in the am. And the neighbors were super nice.I could go on and on. I can't wait to stay there again!Thank you!!! Dana and Ben
