We had a nice stay here and it suited our needs perfectly. We were able to walk to State Street for dinner and to Chase Palm Park for our wine event. Our host responded quickly when I texted him. Looking forward to our next stay!

Walk to beach and State st shopping and restaurants. Comfortable except shower is very snakk, Sometimes difficult to park on street.

My sisters and I rented all 3 units for a weekend reunion. We loved staying here and would happily return. Recommended!

Couldn't ask for a better host or a more enchanting and dreamy location. Sandy was always responsive and helpful. We loved every minute of our stay. Huge bonus that proximity to beach is unbeatable.
Would love to stay here again in the future!!

We had a great week at Chapala Gardens. The location is perfect, apartment had everything we needed including a new water filter (much appreciated filling our water bottles before heading out), the rooftop is amazing and Sandy is attentive and helpful. The pictures exactly match the apartment -- it's cute and comfy, bath & furnishings not updated, but we understood that going in.

We had a wonderful stay . Easy check in process . Great communication with owner . The bed is really great. You can easily walk to the beach and to all the great restaurants nearby. The only negative is the parking the weekend there is only 90 minutes parking from 10 am to 5pm.

Location, location, location! Awesome. So much was wonderful. Just being in Santa Barbara đź‘Ť. A few things could be described better. Parking has some restrictions. Shower is a miniature. If it gets chilly at night, heat was an issue for us. Never actually saw owners. Spoke on phone. But did I mention location? That made up for some little deficiencies.

This is our 2nd time staying at Chapala Gardens and we will be back! It’s perfect for us from a location perspective as we can walk everywhere we need to and where we enjoy spending time which is the beach and the funk zone
Sandy the owner is very responsive IF we need anything

Neat property with creekside patio and spectacular rooftop garden. Easy walking distance to Funk Zone, beach, wharf and marina. Everything we needed for a relaxing vacation.

My wife and I really enjoyed our two night stay. Unit 2 has everything you need with a simple well worn feel (only reason a gave it a 4 instead of 5 on cleanliness is due to wear and tear on some of the furniture, but is all just fine). It's a quiet location, but a super easy walk to all the action. Check out the hydroponic rooftop vegetable garden. It's super cool.

My mother, partner, and I really enjoyed our stay at a Chapala Gardens. This is our first time to Santa Barbara and we felt right at home. There were some “technical difficulties” with the house, but Sandy was very responsive and very accommodating. We can’t wait to come back.

Exactly as advertised. GREAT location - walk everywhere. Rooftop relaxation zone a huge plus.

Cute place but a couple of things need attention. The shower is very small and the shower head needs to be replaced. Would be nice to have 2 sets of towels for each person. Suggest upgrading the coffee pot. The couch is not comfortable. Parking can be a challenge.
4.7
Perfect location to walk everywhere!! Sandy came immediately when there was a kerfuffle with check in (another guest mistakenly took our unit) and rectified the situation! Shower is tough for tall folks but everything else is fabulous!
4.7
Wonderful house in a great location. Everything you need for a pleasant stay in Santa Barbara. Roof top gardens are amazing and the landscaping around each house in the neighborhood made walking a pleasure. Walkable to downtown fun and the beach and wharf.

We had a great time.

Location is perfect! Right next to the beach and State street. Roof top patio is absolutely lovely. We enjoyed playing cards on the deck, laughing and enjoying the time. Thank you for a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful stay in Santa Barbara at the Chapala Gardens. Everything in the unit was as stated in the online booking material. Quiet. Occasional train which I thought was no problem. Beds are excellent. Kitchen as well stocked. Thank you.

It was a quaint little rental and was very clean.
However, we wish the listing would have mentioned the age of the home and the fact that there is no A/C and that everyone here just opens their windows to cool the interior. We happened to come during a heat wave and were very hot our entire stay. I also have a very real fear of spiders so opening the windows without screens was not an option for me.
The shower head was not working properly and needs replaced. The shower itself was so small that it could benefit from a removable showerhead to make it easier to bathe.
Otherwise beautiful area and close to the beach and the owners were very friendly.

The place is located in a beautiful neighborhood two blocks from the Main Street where there are a ton of restaurants, coffee shops… Very close to the beach as well. The unit was very nice and quiet. There is a cool rooftop with seats and tables that you can relax on as well as some greens that you are welcome to harvest.
Sandy is very friendly and made the whole process simple. Definitely recommend this spot.

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was comfortable, well appointed and in a great location! 2 minute walk to the beach and dining. Easy stroll to the heart of State st. The roof top deck was perfect. We took dinner there several evenings. As a beginner gardener I really enjoyed the hydroponic towers. Having a daughter at UCSB, we have stayed in several locations in the area. Will definitely stay here again! Thank you so much!
4.7
Great location a couple of blocks from the beach and State St. shopping. Rooftop garden with lights was a perfect spot to enjoy Buena Onda empanadas (Argentina food) and McConnell’s ice cream.
4.7
Great location! State Street, West Beach, restaurants and wine tasting rooms. Sandy is awesome! Easy to work with and very responsive! We can’t wait to return!!

Incredible location, beautiful place, everything about it was great. Sandy was fantastic, helpful, and being there was a treat. i highly recommend this place.

Many items were inconsistent and incorrect in online information....parking passes bikes and beach chairs to name a few.
Relaxing and enjoyable deck and rooftop area
4.7
Excellent place to stay, well located near the beach, shopping and nightlife. Cool house with rooftop patio and hydroponic garden. The only (slight) downside was the shower--a bit tight to navigate, but still workable. We very much enjoyed our time there.
4.7
Wonderful place to stay!
Located in a lovely neighborhood, it's nice to be able to park your car and walk to the beach, restaurants and shopping. Then return to a clean cozy place for some relaxation. The roof top garden is a great additional option for putting up your feet. The only negative here was the size of the shower, small but doable.
4.7
Fantastic location and very comfortable
My husband, our daughter, and I spent several days here, and we loved it. The one-bedroom unit was very comfortable and well-equipped, the building is convenient to the beach and the Funk Zone, and the rooftop garden and sitting area is delightful. We’d love to stay here again in the future!

The location of this property cannot be beat. It’s within a couple of blocks of State Street, the Funk Zone, and the pier. Within easy walking distance are so many places to eat/drink that we couldn’t visit them all in the two weeks we were there. The property is exactly as described. It was comfortable and clean. We ran into the owner Sandy a couple of times and he’s a great host. The garden rooftop is a nice place to have lunch or just relax. As an older place, there are a couple of quirks (like a tiny shower), but nothing that detracted from our stay. We highly recommend Chapala Gardens and will stay here again when we return to Santa Barbara.

Great place to stay in Santa Barbara!
We had a great experience staying in this property. The unit was nicely decorated, and a very comfortable stay. First class sheets, towels, etc. The rooftop was an added treat and a great place to watch sunsets. The location is fantastic, just down the street from the beach as well as downtown. Sandy, our host, was very available and accommodating. We were guests during the stay at home orders due to Covid-19, and Sandy went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and offered advice and guidance during the time. We look forward to coming back to more thoroughly enjoying the pleasures of Santa Barbara when this is all behind us!

Great stay in Santa Barbara
Very nice and comfy spot. Clean and convenient to downtown.

Shower and bathroom had mildew and ants - window needs replacement and has no heat. Unit absorbs a lot of noise from street and neighboring units and has little to no heat. Couch was stained as well as bed sheets - pillows were also old. owner did not send property email till after we arrived and had questions. street parking was also a hassle. only good thing was the location.
