About this house rental
Deeply discounted for November!
The Green Duck is simply an easy house to be in. At the end of a private road, you'll find our charming 1 bedroom lake house, with a sunroom (sleeper sofa pulls out to a Queen size bed, a full kitchen and living room area with a small working bathroom (standup shower only). The house is equipped with washer and dryer! We like to keep all the screened windows open all summer and let the breeze keep the house cool, but if you need it, theres AC in the bedroom and the sun room that cools the whole place. There is working WIFI, DVD system, Dish Network TV channels, but save that for a rainy day. You'll be spending most of your time outside on the deck or down on the beach and/or swimming dock. There are 2 kayaks for your use as well as some extra life jackets. Plenty of deck chairs for sitting or laying out in the sun. A great place for bird watching and fishing right off the dock! 2 fire raised metal fire pits (one on the beach and one in the yard) for those late night bonfires! This property is unique as we get both Sunrise on the lake and sunset over the hills of Fox Run Winery! One last thing - a charming and historic train runs next to the house. The train seems to have no set schedule, but seems to run very infrequently. Sometimes not coming for days on end and other times passing by up to 3 times in one day. We see this as part of the charm of the place- the train goes slow and the conductor will even sound the whistle for you if you wave at the train! All in all - this is the perfect house for a quiet, get-a-way - full of fishing, swimming, laying around, working on your new book, or a just a romantic rural experience! Oh, and if it gets too quiet - Historic Downtown Geneva is a 15 minute drive. There you can find gift shops, a cinema, The Smith Opera House, grocery stores, Linden Street, full of shops and great farm-to-table restaurants and a lakefront park.
*** This is a year round rental. We spent last winter here and made some great memories. I must say the place is stunning during all four seasons. We do ask the guests DO NOT use the wood stove (for safety reasons). The house is well insulated. There is electric heat (Thermostat), as well as some very advanced, high-end space heaters for the areas that don't heat up as well. If you would like to see some photos of the place in winter time, just ask and I will email them to you.

Nice lakefront location, short drive to wineries, restaurants, local attractions. Good communication with host. Train was no problem. Would stay there again.

Loved our getaway to Seneca Lake. Johnny's cottage was just the vibe we were looking for. Like can not say enough good things about the outdoor space. So, so chill but also a close drive to everything we might have needed. The train & tracks were not an issue and found it to be a charming addition, though we only saw a train once. Johnny was super at communication. All in all, can't wait to return to Seneca Lake sometime and if we do I would definitely rent this cottage again.

We spent four nights at the “Green Duck” cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and clean, the location was peaceful and private, and the view of Seneca Lake was stunning. The freight train rumbled by a few times, and there was a certain charm to watching it pass. The house was well-stocked with everything you could need. Jonny was easy to communicate with as needed. We would definitely recommend a stay here!

We are repeat visitors to his cute and cozy cabin right on Seneca Lake.
We so enjoy sitting out on the deck watching the sun rise in the morning and ending the day around the fire pit. In between we visit some of the numerous wineries and hike at Watkins Glen State Park.
The once or twice a day trains that roll right by the cabin are fun to watch and add a special uniqueness to this property.
Property is super clean and communication with owner is excellent.

We had the most restful time in this peaceful lakeside cottage. It reminded me of summer camp as a kid. The place was perfectly clean and felt cozy. The location was perfect and we were able to enjoy relaxing by the water, wineries, restaurants, and hiking. Jonathan was very responsive and helpful with instructions. I would definitely return to this gem of a spot!

We cannot possibly convey the beauty of this location and the outstanding way our host has curated this cottage. Wake up to the birds and chipmunks, listen to the gentle lapping of the lake. Believe us, it doesn't get better. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. Give yourself lots of time here to enjoy just being in the cottage and time to explore the gorgeous area. Thank you so much to our wonderful host, we hope to visit again, some day. Aloha, S &S

The cottage exceeded my expectations in every way. The pictures do not do it justice. Everything was immaculate, the amenities were top notch, and the setting was sublime. A pair of bald eagles flew past several times each day and sometimes caught fish as we watched. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

My wife and 8 month old celebrated a few holidays over a June weekend at Finger Lakes Ny! Jonathan has a special place on Seneca Lake, in a prime location as well! We have booked marked his place for future endeavors to the NY wine region. Thank you for opening up your space to us!

From the minute we pulled up to the house, we were blown away. First, it was spotless and the attention to making sure anything you could need was available was sure appreciated! A great proximity to many of the area attractions - state parks, boat rental, wineries, breweries, restaurants, etc! If you want a private, beautiful spot to explore the Finger Lakes, this is it!!

Place looks exactly as advertised. Although the property owner came by EVERY day to cut grass and the train came by 3 times EVERY day, the interaction with the owner was pleasant and not really intrusive and the trains didn't detract from our enjoyment of the space. The grill was great, the water was cool and refreshing and the place was very enjoyable. It wasn't quite the get away "from it all" that I thought it would be, but my brother and I enjoyed our brief stay thoroughly.

Such a great house for a couple. It was beautiful inside and out. For our 3 day stay, we only had a small train come through once. I highly recommend this property for a getaway! The owner is great too!

My husband and I spent a week at the Green Duck for our honeymoon. We had the most beautiful, relaxing time. The home provided everything you’d want for a truly rejuvenating vacation, the best part being the incredible views and sounds of the lake! We hardly wanted to leave and explore the area, it was that good just hanging out in the sun room. There is plenty to see and do in the area, though! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jonathan’s place to anyone. Thank you!

This was a very memorable Birthday weekend for my wife and I. Such a beautiful location and property. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay with easy instructions and recommendations. The fall foliage was also gorgeous surrounding Seneca Lake this time of year.

The October fall there was beautiful with views of the changing colors over the lake, warms days for exploring, and cool evenings for hanging on the sunporch sipping local wine! The amenities are great and easy for people coming just for the weekend (bring your own food and drink but spices, most condiments, and cooking utensils were already there and available). We are excited to come during the warmer months to get out on the lake and utilize the outdoor fire pit!
