About this house rental
The Lake House Complex includes the 2,200 square foot Lake House, the Lake Cottage (brand new May 2019) and Bunk House (brand new May 2019). Situated next to each other on our beach (400 feet of frontage!), they're a great way for large groups to spread out and enjoy a beautiful site on scenic Cayuga Lake.
***May through Labor Day and Columbus Day weekend, we rent the Lake House, Bunk House and Lake Cottage as a single unit because of their close proximity. In the off-season (excluding Columbus Day weekend), they can be rented separately. Please message us for the listings for the units individually.***
Relax with friends or family on the deck after a day on Cayuga Lake! Perfect for entertaining large groups! Enjoy a fire on the beach or swim from the adjacent beach.
Lake House: 2-floor, 2,200 sq. ft. house boasts 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Renovations over winter 2019 included a brand-new kitchen (including wine fridge!), new flooring, fresh paint, and hotel-quality bedding and towels!
Open-plan configuration with dining room, living room, and full kitchen on main (top) floor, along with a full bathroom and two bedrooms. (1 with a queen bed and 1 with king bed and a day bed w/pull out twin, sleeping 4.)
Lower floor has 3 bedrooms (king, queen and bunk beds), a full bathroom, and another area to relax. (One sofa has a full-size pull-out.)
Lake Cottage: 1 bedroom with spectacular lake views and a memory foam king bed. Full kitchen and bathroom, as well as a living room with air conditioning/heating, television, propane BBQ, outdoor furniture and fire pit. Gut renovation in spring 2019!
Bunk House: Includes 2 sets of bunk beds, air conditioning, and heating. (No separate bathroom in unit.)
The lake house is accessed down a flight of ~50 steps. Guests with limited mobility or who wish to drop off people and/or gear, can use our boat ramp that is adjacent to the Lake House Complex. Guests can be dropped on the beach and it is about 8 steps to the upper level of the Lake House. (The Lake Cottage is on one floor, 1 step above the beach.)
Spring, Summer and Fall guests: Lake house complex rental includes 1 electric boat hoist and a private dock. Additional docks with manual or electric hoists available for motor/sail boats at $200/boat/week.
Note: Fireplaces inside the units are not available for use. Electric heat provided.
Our property includes another house (Overlook Lodge) that sleeps 10, as well as 8 cabins and 2 yurts that each sleep between 4 and 6. This is the largest lakeside vacation rental property in the Ithaca area that can sleep 85 guests in 12 independent units! Ask about our discounts for renting multiple sites!
The Spotted Sandpiper is located in the woods with frontage on Cayuga Lake and bugs love the woods and water! They're savvy at finding their ways indoors. If the bugs are ever "bugging" you, we're always happy to help.

My family (16 adults and teens) stayed for 3 nights at Sandpiper lakehouse. We rented the house, cottage nextdoor and bunk house. There were so many various sleeping spaces that everyone had their own. We really loved the private beach/dock area with kayaks and paddle boards. They just added a water mat to the dock when we arrived which made the kids even happier. The main draw for this rental was the lake access and space for 5 families.

Wonderful place! Big, clean, kitchen well supplied. Overall a great experience!

For context, we had a group of 12 stay in the area for a 40th birthday with a trip to Watkins Glen for the NASCAR race.
The property is exactly as described. The house was well situated on the lake with two floors and three bedrooms on each floor. The living area was big on both floors and included all the amenities one needed in the kitchen.
The cabin was great for one family to have to themselves as it had its own bathroom and kitchen and living room.
The grills worked great and allowed us to cook some meals lakeside. The fire pit and chairs were nice to use each night after the sun went down. I didn’t realize they had folding tables and cornhole or I would have saved room in the truck and not brought mine!
Check in was easy, with the owners communicating what to do ahead of time as well as leaving clear instructions for what to do if there was an issue and for checking out. I’d absolute recommend staying here for a big group. There was plenty of room for more than the 12 of us (we only used one bed in the four bed bunkhouse and I assigned queen and full beds to some of the single females).
Importantly…the stairs leading down to the property are extremely sturdy. You may look at them at first and be worried but they were very well constructed. The walkway as a whole was well lit and made going back and forth between the parking spot and the house while unloading upon arrival very easy.
Plenty to do within 30-35 minutes!!!

We were 13 Cornell alumnae visiting for our 40th reunion. The house is rustic but clean, lots of indoor and outdoor living spaces, comfortable beds, and a well-appointed kitchen. The owners were very responsive to a couple of issues we had. Being right on the lake was fantastic. Too cold for swimming, but kayaking was great. There are lots of stairs leading down to the lake house, but there is a boat ramp for an all-wheel drive car that is helpful for unpacking and packing your belongings. 25 minute drive to Cornell. Overall, a great place to spend a long weekend with friends!

Maybe what to expect with a lake house, but we felt there were some really easy opportunities to freshen things up and make the place seem cleaner, brighter, airier. But, at the same time it fit our needs and the properties were enjoyable for our family.

Host were amazing
the host went above and beyond. They were quick to respond to any questions and were even thoughtful enough to bring my family a truck of wood for fires. Yes a truck of wood. Not a bundle. Entire family had a amazing time. Not only do they have kayaks at the house but a short trip down the beech there was plenty of other equipment to borrow as well. Cant say enough nice things about the host and the house. The cleaning staff was amazing as well!! We will be returning next summer. Kudos to host and staff...

The house is okay-not fancy and could be updated a bit. We had all ages and a big extended family gather here and we had a great time. We rented a pontoon and a speed boat and spent lots of time on the lake. Kate was easy to communicate with and answered all our questions. Lake Cayuga is a great spot!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The house is a little older and could use some updating but it is very private and in a great location right on the water. The hosts were very accommodating and the house is well stocked with supplies, yard games, boats, firewood, etc.

Trying to get away from NYC and find lakefront property in august planning a month out was quite challenging... this was a very lucky find for our group.
There is a very nice view and setup around the lake, the house has all of the basic essentials (grills, kayaks, etc...) to have a great weekend. A couple notes for guests though that weren't 100% clear from the description:
-There are three units as part of the property. The main house (5 bedrooms, of which 3 standalone have a king or queen), a bunk house (4 beds), and the honeymoon suite (1 king bed with kitchen). The the house and suite were of pretty good quality, would reserve the bunkhouse for kids or just come with the warning that those sleeping in the bunk house are getting pretty barebones accommodations.
-The AC units throughout the units could have been stronger/newer
-Having the beach is great, but I would bring watershoes. Many of us ended up with small scratches on our feet due to the stones.
-Having a boat come along with the place would have been stellar, all of the rentals in Ithaca were sold out so we had to get our boat from Frontenac harbor (2 hour boat ride there and back to pick up, 50 min drive from house).
Past that, great weekend for large parties trying to have a good time. Would go back again with a large group. Ours was a for a guys weekend worked out great. Communication with hosts very straight forward and willing to answer questions and work with us.

Our stay exceed our expectation. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 49 anniversary. Everyone from age 72 to 6 years old had a blast . Kate & Jordan were always only a text away for any problems. Watching all of our children & grandchildren interacting and enjoying just being together was priceless. Chip & Maureen Salvato

We had a great time. Very relaxing, wonderful setting, loved to end each day with a nice fire on the beach. A well needed few days. I wish we stayed a few more. It was just perfect.

Great location that beats everything else
Two bedrooms out of five are not livable: no windows, no air at all, very small space. Other three bedrooms are okay. Great deck overlooking the lake. Pier is nice but doesn’t have ladder to get into the water which could be the nice feature to have.

Fun October Weekend with Family
We had a great weekend at this house. Ten of us stayed and we had plenty of room. There was a problem with our TV connection and Jordan was immediately there to fix the problem. They provided paper, soap, cleaning products and the firewood was waiting for us. A perfect fit for us!

Family weekend
We had a great time on Cayuga Lake. The house was just the right size, and had everything we needed. Kate and Jordan were available and addressed anything we needed during our stay. Be aware there are a lot of stairs to get down to the house, but also a steep driveway that can be used to transport items up an down the hill, having 4-wheel drive was certainly a huge benefit to renting this house, because carrying everything up and down the stairs would have been difficult.

Kate and Jordan were very helpful during our stay. Great place next to the water.
Jordan and Kate offer a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Everything we needed was included in the Lakehouse. The boat lift was a plus. They offered kayaks, firewood and a gazebo centrally located with paper towels, toilet tissue, trash bags drinks, that you could yet as needed. The welcome basket was a wonderful added touch. They gave their immediate attention to any problems we had and answered all of our questions. We had a wonderful time.

Annual family vacation
My son-in-law summarized it for me: You hit the nail on the head (picking this place) again this year! The owners were very responsive and attended to every need. We had plenty of space and multiple sitting areas to accommodate group time and quiet time. Beds were wonderful, kitchen was well stocked, there were plenty of towels. Lake access was amazing! We had an electric boat slip for the fishing boat, dock was in great repair, and the beach was perfect for swimming and launching our kayaks. We were blessed with perfect weather and had a wonderful week!
