About this apartment rental
Character and history abound in this utterly charming duplex furnished apartment, in metro Boston near Logan Airport. Awarded for outstanding achievement in historic preservation, the apartment has been completely renovated with loving care, incorporating architectural details and décor that hark back to the building’s rich history as a firehouse. The rooms are chock full of nooks and crannies and charm galore. The gleaming hardwood floors and 11 foot ceilings give an airy, spacious feel as a family friendly vacation rental for Boston visitors. The open concept first floor features a fully equipped kitchen with beautiful wood cabinets and a living room area with flat screen TV and desk area perfect for computer time. There is also a ½ bath and a full bed in a corner away from the living room area. The second floor has two bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath WITH CLAW FOOT TUB AND SHOWER. Central air keeps you comfortable in summer, and environmentalists will appreciate the solar heated water and eco-friendly products. Located close to biking and hiking trails, playgrounds and state parks (bike storage provided). 4 blocks to the bus or 20 minute walk to public transit, or drive and park to another metro in 10-15 minutes. All take you Boston’s historic sites, Tufts University and MIT. History buffs will delight. (NOTE: STAIRS TO BEDROOMS A LITTLE STEEP.) Off street parking for one car, must be reserved. The lower level of this two floor apartment actually feels larger than you would expect from the photos. Plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining. The upstairs bedrooms are both spacious and comfortable, with a shared bathroom down the hall. We really enjoyed our week in Malden at the fire house!

Amazing place to stay. The pictures don't do this place justice. It was amazing. I can't say enough about our stay.it was everything we expected plus more. Anyone staying here will be extremely satisfied

We are a family of four traveling in New England for our vacation and wanted to spend a few days in Boston area. Location was very convenient to all areas in Boston and surrounding. The apartment is well equipped and communication with the host was fabulous. My only regret is not getting a tour of the rest of the building to see how the owners are transforming this historic building. Maybe next time? 😁

Unique property located in a quiet area. Host met us upon arrival and graciously showed us around. Clean, comfortable and convient. Short walk or drive to restaurants, grocery and metro transportation. We would definitely stay here again.

Our family had a a great stay at Chez Fuego! The converted fire house was a lot of fun for our sons. It was clean with plenty of room for everyone and many amenities included. The owners were very communicative and helpful with our questions. Easy to get the the T and navigate the city from there while avoiding the traffic. The designated parking spot was a great feature as well. Would stay again!

This was the perfect spot for the 4 of us to reside while in ‘Boston’ for the big race; we found it easy to navigate transportation. Cleanliness of property and strong communication are key factors when I select a place to stay: this site exceeded our expectations! Highly recommended!

This restored fire house made our trip to Boston all the more memorable! The hosts were so accommodating, the house was extremely clean and our family of 6 slept comfortably! So cozy and fun, perfect location also and the parking spot was so nice! We couldn’t be more happy with our stay!

This gorgeous restored Firehouse was a perfect getaway for our group of adults. The property is maintained beautifully and the owners provide everything needed. The beds we’re comfortable, the house was spotless! The owners had great advice on how to ride the train and commuter rail. They also provided great advise on places to eat and things to do. The location is perfect whether your visiting Boston or adventuring to Salem! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

The property was clean, had everything we needed, great location. Close to the commuter rail, 30-45 minute drive to Salem (depending on traffic). The owners greeted us upon arrival and gave a tour of the property. They have a folder with directions to the commuter rail, restaurants and places to visit. The owners do live in the apartment that is connected to the property but we never knew they were there. We really enjoyed the property, it is beautiful. Property is just as described.

The unit is very big, but still cozy. It is part of a beautifully restored old firehouse which makes it a unique stay. Easy parking in the driveway. Quiet. Short drive into downtown Boston. We really enjoyed our stay.

As advertised....clean and organized. Loved the fire station and owners were good to work with. Stairs can be a challenge, so you must be fit and able to climb a bit, but manageable. Owners were easy to work with. Would stay again.

We spent a week exploring Boston for my Mom’s 80 birthday 🎉 Malden was the perfect home base for everyone to gather! The firehouse was fantastic!

We stayed 6 days with friends two couples. Rented a car, drove to Salem, Newport Rhode Island, and Cape Cod. We also visited Fenway Park for a game. We did take one day to visit the downtown area. We used the rail system in and out of the city, no issues would recommend. Overall fun time Firehouse and property managers pleasant and easy to work with.

Our stay was great, hosts were amazing. They have info and brochures of the surrounding areas of stuff to do. Great central location to attend a ballgame at Fenway Park or taking a day trip to the Plymouth or Salem. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay in Malden. The home has been lovingly restored. It was a great place to relax after spending a hot day in Boston. It was close to the subway which made travel easy. The house was clean, beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Jon and Lisa were great to communicate with. When we’re in Boston area, we would definitely stay there again!

This was our first family trip to Boston and we had such a great time…in part to this property being so wonderful. The owners were more communicative than most while still giving us our privacy. The place was so charming and had amazing history, if you’re into that! Also, the location was perfect for everything we did while we were there. We went to multiple historic sites in Boston and even went out to Salem for a day. It felt like we were 15-20 minutes from everything we wanted to do. Would highly recommend this place and will most likely stay here any time we’re visiting Boston.

Our family of four adults (including an EMT/firefighter) and a five-month-old loved our 8+ days in Chez Fuego while we were in Boston for a graduation. It was truly our home for the duration, it was a joy to return after each day’s adventure.
The house is a beautifully refurbished firehouse with outstanding attention to detail, and thoughtful modern comforts. Our hosts were amazing - in addition to responding to myriad questions quickly and accommodating a last-minute change in plans, providing us with a pack and play; Jon also met us upon arrival and sent a text to remind us to move the car on street cleaning day!
We had a fabulous time and look forward to returning!

We really enjoyed this time capsule. A great structure, and fun to look around at all the little hidden treasures they have displayed around the house. We were very warmly greeted by both the owners who were both super friendly. Neighborhood was quiet, place was clean. Some VERY cool old cemeteries to check out that were very close by. Quick drive to the T-Line. Place was clean and had all the basic amenities. Owners were also super communicative if we had any questions.

This was our first time using VRBO, we decided to go this route as it would cost less than booking two hotel rooms for the amount of days we stayed. After looking around for places around Boston, this one caught my eye, one because my husband's daughter was graduating in Manchester, she also works for the fire department so we thought we would surprise her with this property. She loved the place and so did we. Loved the history behind this place. It was quiet, very clean and we felt safe. Jon and Lisa, thank you for an amazing home away from home. We enjoyed our stay and thank you for being great hosts and always being on top of communicating with us. I've worked in the travel industry for 30 years and that is always the key for a great experience. May others have the same experience we had.

We loved our stay at ChezFuego! Perfect restoration complete with charm, interesting decor, perfectly creeky floors, and space! 6 of us stayed comfortably and enjoyed every square inch! Definitely check out the restoration website!

We were looking for a place to stay for a Thanksgiving getaway with my husband, his daughter, and her two kids. Since he is a former fire chief, I knew instantly when I saw this rental that it would be the perfect place. The owner response prior to arrival was exceptional. When we arrived it was dinner time on Thanksgiving, Jon greeted us and showed us the house and answered our many questions about the history and restoration of the house. We settled in for dinner and a relaxing evening. The beds were all very comfortable. Everything was spotless. There wasn’t anything we needed although they offered that if we needed anything to give them a call. Extremely generous considering it was Thanksgiving. We spent the next day in Boston at the Children’s Museum (great for kids 6 and under) and the following day in Salem. Everywhere we wanted to go was about 30 minutes which makes it a great launching pad for area attractions. Our grandchildren couldn’t wait to get back to the firehouse every day to settle into the comfortable couch and watch Netflix! Thank you to the owners for making this Thanksgiving one we will always remember. Book this place! You won’t regret it.

This was a great experience! A very cool and unique property that is clearly well maintained and cared for! Super convenient location to the Malden train station made getting downtown so easy. Easy check-in and great communication from the hosts; they have some awesome suggestions and help for what to do in and around Boston. We would definitely stay here again next time we are in the Boston area!

We enjoyed our stay and the property was beautiful. We were in Boston on vacation, however our daughter had moved there so it was a family visit as well. The stairwell is steep however, our biggest obstacle was the claw tub it was a bit hard to navigate, especially with the long curtain. All together it was a great trip.

What an amazing place John and Lisa have. The restoration and attntion to detail were amazing. As history buffs, we loved reading about the Fire House and Malden. We booked the Firehouse for our trip to Boston and Salem. The traffic was insane, but we did book go in September, so to be expected. It was so nice to come back to such a warm and inviting home. We would totally recommend anyone to stay here. We will be back! Mike and Debi
