About this house rental
Secluded in a forest of its own, Quinta da Boiça offers you a peaceful and private refuge in the heart of Portugal’s enchanting Sintra World Heritage Cultural Landscape. The house belonged to the Franciscan monks and is in fact an ancient hermitage transformed into a home over the last decades. From every window of the house a particular view opens before your eyes, and every shade of green is offered by the multiple varieties of trees, shrubs and bushes extending to the far off horizon of the distant coastline. Breathtaking views of Monserrate Palace and Pombal Manor House can also be enjoyed from various points of the Quinta.
This property with 10 hectares of woodland, ideal for hiking, walking or simply relaxing, is only 30 minutes from Lisbon airport, 15 minutes walk to Sintra historical centre with its collection of palaces, castles and manor houses, and in another 15 minutes you can find yourself in the colourful busy seaside towns of Estoril and Cascais with their lovely beaches, restaurants, shops and famous casino.
The house can be described as a 3 storey cottage comfortably furnished with period antiques and modern amenities. It has a large high ceiling living-room, 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a kitchen with all the modern appliances. There is a sofa bed in the large living room allowing for five people in total to use the house. Far from the stress and hectic routine of everyday life, Quinta da Boiça offers you sanctuary and peace making your stay a veritable holiday.

We had the privilege to enjoy the unique experience of living in this house for 7 days and nights. Peaceful and extremely beautiful, standing on a high hill with breathtaking views everywhere you look.
Cristina is such a wonderful host. She met us and showed us around the property and the house. Upon our arrival we were treated with delicious quiche, local cheese, and wine. All the necessary basic produce was already in the fridge , so we didn't have to run to the store right after the arrival.
We were worried about the house not having air conditioner, but we didn't really need it. We were sleeping with open windows and enjoyed fresh , clean outside air.
Beds were super comfortable.
The location of the house is superb. Imagine living in absolutely secluded area, while being just next to the center of Sintra . It is located within walking distance to Regaleira. The location also allowed us to be first in line to enter the Penna Palace.
And imagine after each busy day we had the opportunity to jump into our privet pool.
Great experience at this magical place!

We and our friends spent 9 enjoyable days here. We have been many other places but this is without question the most beautiful place you can find. The property is huge and you can easily spent a couple of hours walking around without leaving the property. Very friendly owners and good service. Certainly highly recommendable.

Two couples shared this home for almost a week. We loved everything. We enjoyed using this as a base for exploring Lisbon, walking through Sintra and usiting nearby beaches. Best memories will be sitting under the arbor, sipping wine, eating local cheese and looking out over a very private forested hillside.
For us, a car was somewhat of a necessity. But I would stay here again anytime. Fabulous!

If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place for you! The house is surrounded by acres of forest and is very secluded. We used the house as a base to explore Sintra and Lisbon which are both a short drive away.
There is a fantastic dining area just outside the front door overlooking the forest. The beds were very comfortable and the house has just about everything you need. The host made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to make our arrival special.
The only thing that might be a problem for some people are the stairs. They are quite steep and might not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
We had a very enjoyable stay.

Quinta da Boica is like something out of a fairytale. Perched on a steep hillside in its own old growth forest, it’s an oasis from the crowds in Sintra, but still within walking distance of the town and attractions. The owners are gracious, excellent hosts and the warmth and comfort of their family home is immediately apparent. It is from another age, so don’t expect the glitter of a 5 star hotel, but if you’d like an authentic hideaway with incredible views and a spring fed pool, the Quinta da Boica is for you.

Simply perfect!
Cristina met us at a nearby restaurant the day of check-in to show us the best way to get to the home and walk us through some tips and tricks of the house and gave us pointers about the area.
We arrived later in the afternoon and she was even kind enough to leave us some homemade dinner and snacks so we didn't have to leave the property again.
The house and property are absolutely beautiful and serene, a great place to unwind and relax after a busy day sightseeing in Sintra or Lisbon.
The location is great; you can easily drive to the coast and beach or hop onto the freeway towards Lisbon. You can even walk into Sintra from the property to avoid traffic and finding parking.
The views, particularly at sunset, are stunning, and it was lovely to sit in our private lemon grove or under the gazebo enjoying some wine watching the sun go down.
Between the property and Cristina's hospitality, this was the perfect place to spend our honeymoon!

A tranquil sanctuary, respite from lovely but busy Sintra
Just a lovely experience from start to finish. Marta met us and told us the history. All good at the house. One point , the drains are a bit slow. Apart from that, heaven on earth.

Magical mountain retreat
We enjoyed our stay immensely! Two couples had a week in this special property and we would love to come back. Marta was a dear host! We appreciated the walk in to Sintra sites and the driver Antonio that Marta arranged took 2 of us to “do” Lisbon whilst our husbands ride bikes to the beach. It was a short drive to the gorgeous beaches and Sintra itself was wonderful! We feel very lucky to have had this property as our base.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Tranquil and relaxing property.
Charming house and secluded property. We enjoyed having breakfast outside watching the sunrise and a glass of wine in the evening watching the sunset. Marta was a wonderful host. She took the time to inform us about the property and local attractions and restaurants. Marta also provided a nice welcome gift basket. Very thoughtful. Highly recommended!

Oasis of calm
Driving through Sintra is definitely not relaxing but arriving at the property was worth it.
We missed the left turn immediately after the BP station on the outskirts of Sintra, but if you get this right, the instructions are good. The house is lovely and the views spectacular. Thoroughly recommend!

Beautiful house and countryside!
This is a stunning spot - a beautiful oasis! Marta is a fabulous host and is very responsive to her guests needs. She provided a wonderful dinner for us on the first night and breakfasts items. She even brought us a high chair and baby crib for our daughter. If this place is available you should book it. The weather was a little cold when we were there March/April and the house does not have central heating so next time we’ll book in the warmer months! This place is truly spectacular though.

Totalmente recomendable

Heavenly!
We had a wonderful time at Casa de Boica. The house is clean, welcoming, and handsome. The grounds (once the site of a monastery) are exquisite, with picturesque views and unforgettable sunsets. After a day spent touring Sintra and the surrounding areas, it was refreshing to come back to the house and take a dip in the pool, hang out in the lemon grove, or walk along one of the many trails. Inside the house is comfortable; we took advantage of the nice-sized kitchen and prepared many meals (which we ate outside). And even during the height of summer the temperature inside stayed cool.
The house is conveniently located right outside of Sintra but feels miles away. With a very long unpaved driveway and no neighbors in sight, you’ll think you’re the only ones on this side of the mountain.
Our host Marta greeted us upon arrival with a delicious lunch and fresh fruit and vegetables from her garden. She made herself available to answer any questions we had about the house or sites nearby. We were traveling with our 18 month old son, which proved to be a bit of challenge, as the house isn’t the most toddler friendly (there was a crib and some toys), but we managed to make it work rather quickly. Suffice it to say, he had a great time as well.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable stay with convenience, space, and fantastic scenery, look no further than Casa de Boica.

A fabulous quinta in a fairytale location.
This glorious house nestles on the steep side of a wooded valley with tremendous views to the west and northwards to the Atlantic coast. The weather patterns are forever changeable because of the topography and the fabulous quality of the light is a constantly-changing photographer’s delight.
The house is accessed by a narrow lane to the estate gate and then a steep gravel drive down to the house itself. The woods are dense, steep and full of great variety of ancient trees. There are a few paths & tracks available but it is hard to judge the full extent of the property due to the terrain. Nevertheless there are plenty of lovely, well-kept spaces and terraces around the house to enjoy the location to the full. It is a truly remarkable place.
The house is well-kept and beautifully furnished with antiques, painting etc and has a fantastic homely quality. All the facilities worked well and our 10-day stay was utterly trouble-free in all respects. The owners left us a comprehensive welcome package of food and the efficient and polite cleaners appeared twice a week. We wanted for nothing and the quite luxurious environment meant we were tempted to just stay in the quinta for the whole holiday.
However the local historic gardens and architecture of Sintra beckoned and we found that we could easily walk to the town centre in 15-20 minutes with the local attractions and restaurants right on hand or nearby. Sintra is very busy during the day with day-trips from Lisbon, but lovely and quiet in the evenings. We had some good meals out and the moonlit walks back to Quinta da Boica to the magical background of fireflies and the singing frogs were just magical.
We have over the years tried to find special places with some sense of individuality for our family holidays with a good balance of comfort, practicality and easy access to local interests. It is never an easy task each year and now it will be so much harder as Quinta da Boica has just raised the bar so much.
It is simply the best place we have ever stayed.....
