About this villa rental
Very attractive private family-home villa with pool, within 10-15 minutes drive to five lovely beaches (with great surfing) and various golf courses & tennis. The villa is set in its own large garden, with a fantastic location on the lower slopes of the hills running up from the sea, with a marvellous view up to the wooded mountain of Sintra. The villa is large, with lovely spacious living rooms, with a lawn, a big terrace and its own sheltered swimming pool.
- The house is 45 minutes drive from Lisbon and Lisbon airport and is 15 minutes from the historic town of Sintra and from various beautiful palaces. Tennis courts, mountain biking, golf courses and riding facilities are also all within 15 minutes drive. There are many great restaurants nearby, especially for seafood.
- The Sintra region is one of the most interesting in Portugal, with castles, palaces and gardens to visit. Overlooking the town are the ramparts of the 8th century Castelo dos Mouros, and the eccentric Pena Palace. The nearby town of Colares is charming, and the exotic gardens and small palace of Montserrat are only 10 minutes away by car.
- The sandy beaches of Sintra's coastline are famous: Praia Grande (great for surfing), Praia das Maçãs, Praia da Adraga, Praiai da Adraga and Magoito (further south), are all from 10 to 20 minutes car trip from the house. There is a big beach called Guincho south west of the house, where the surfing world championships have been held.
- Many superb seafood and other restaurants, especially in Praia das Macas,
- Eight excellent golf courses close by
- Tennis, riding, mountain biking
- Fabulous walks, both along the coastal clifftops and in the hills of Sintra
- Local festivals in the summer in Sintra (arts and music), in Mucifal (local folk festival) and elsewhere
- Best of all, relax by the pool in the villa, with its lawn and breath-taking mountain views
- sleeps 12 plus 1 baby cot provided
** Full information pack provided to enquirers with details of beaches, restaurants, shops etc.

This is a beautiful house in a lovely location with amazing views. Very well equipped with ample cutlery and crockery and all the amenities needed. I would suggest providing fans in the bedrooms as it got very hot - especially upstairs. We could also have done with more sunbeds as there were only 5 for potentially 9 of us..
We were sorry not to go on the tram into Sintra as that would have avoided the high season traffic jams. A car is definitely needed. The beaches were 10-15 minutes away and the beautiful Montserrat Palace and gardens a short drive too. Rui was very helpful and Mark is an excellent host providing very quick answers to my numerous questions.

Not a classic VRBO but you will have been invited into your relative's family home. Designed and built in the 70's with orientation to the Sintra palaces which sparkle at night. Custom built and adorned with antiques and extensive library makes for a restful visit. A couple cautions. The house was built for a typical Portuguese height so there is a dangerous corner in the kitchen and taller ladies needed to bend down when using bathroom mirrors. Also, the VRBO address will not work when using UBER. I requested and received an alternative address from the PM. Last, a more complete visitor guide (eg printed google maps to stores, restaurants, train stations and mosquito prevention tips) would be very useful.

We loved the house and its location! So much charm and out of the way of the busy city. Rui was very helpful in getting us settled in, and even put us in contact with the owner’s friend that is a fantastic cook!
The house/ appliances could use a bit of updating. Some of the rooms had a very strong musty smell and the mosquitoes were getting in from somewhere even though we were very careful to keep doors/windows shut (use bug spray on your pillows at night to keep them from attacking your face while you sleep).
Mosquitoes aside, the house is oozing traditional Portuguese charm. So many nooks and crannies for the kids to sleep in too. We loved it!

Great stay
We were a family group ranging from 12 to 82 and had a wonderful week at the house. It's characterful and quirky inside and has a great outdoor space with amazing views and a lovely pool which most of us had us brief swim in (it was April so still cold!). The location was perfect, quiet yet close to Sintra, from where you can easily get a train to Lisbon, and lovely beaches. Would recommend!

Grand espace

Family holiday near Sintra
The situation of the house is good with a lovely outlook/view. It is in a semi-urban location but is totally private and not overlooked at all. It is blessed with a wonderful pool and had plenty of private open space and a very good patio having blinds to provide some shade. Some of the garden furniture is old and needs replacing.
The house is huge and we made little use of it as the weather was good. The interior is looking a somewhat tired. The electrics are a little worrying – light switches would work some of the time but not at others. The kitchen is surprisingly small, particularly having regard to the size of the house.
The mosquitoes were a problem at the time of our visit and it would have been helpful to have been warned in advance.

Three Generations family stay for Grampy’s 60th.
We needed a base around Sintra for 6 x Adults and 7 x children. Joy, myself (Richard), Laura & Donna ( our Daughters) had spent 2 1/2 years on the Estoril coast back in 1989-1991, whilst I served at the NATO Base in Oeriras.
Casa do Cedro reminded us all, a lot, of our last bungalow home we rented in Linho back then? Full of Portuguese character, we all felt instantly At Home their. We all loved our stay and our 7 x grandchildren (Harvey, Evan, Daisy, Imogen, William, Daniel & Esmee.) Really loved the Pool which was the Firm Favourite part of the Villa with them! Many thanks for the use of your Families Villa Mark. A Lovely Place in a Lovely part of Sintra, perfect for our needs.

Vacances Sintra

Great place for visitors of Sintra, Lisbon and nearby attractions
We spent in the villa whole week in July. The house is very spacious, with big outside area. We travel with 4 families, 14 people in total. House is spacious enough for this group of people, however two one bedroom was quite claustrophobic.
All devices worked fine, villa is clean and well maintained. The pool area needs some renovations and some additional sunbeds and umbrellas. Astonishing living room with open fireplace and library full of old books, gives the house a spirit which is hard to forget.
Located in the small, quiet village, close to Sintra, approx. 25km from Lisbon. Nearest beach is within 20 minutes by car.
I strongly recommend the villa for families and pack of friends. Lisbon, Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Cascais, beautiful beaches are within 40 minutes by car, so the place is great starting point for everybody who wants to visit interesting places, not only looking for sun and sand:)

Heel schoon zwembad.

Wonderful place to stay
The villa is a wonderful place to stay, it is very large and spacious but also has a homely feel to it, especially due to the Portuguese decor and style. The villa is very well equipped and each room is decorated tastefully. The pool was great fun, and we spent the evenings on the veranda. The views are beautiful, we really enjoyed the local village shops and cafes. There is plenty to do in sintra and Lisbon which are both easy to travel to. We also took the old tram to the beach and a scenic bus route to cascais. It was all fabulous

Super woning

Groot Familiehuis.
Compleet ingericht familiehuis. Heel veel ruimte. Afmetingen huis ca. 25 meter breed en ca. 10 meter diep. Twee verdiepingen.

Massive villa
We had been let down by a previous owner in a previous booking and 3 months before we were due to go we were in a panic!
We could not have been helped more by the honour Mark who was brilliant throughout the process.....we rent a lot and I have never had such a comprehensive list of information for staying at this villa....amazing!
The key collection process was efficient and simple.
It took 20 mins just to be shown around!
Very spacious villa is an understatement.
We were a group of 10 and it had everything we needed and we never felt under each others feet.
The view is just stunning.
The location is brilliant.
10 minutes to Sintra, which also has a fast train to Lisbon.
Hypermarket 15 mins away.
10 mins from 2 lovely beaches, 25 minutes from Cascais.
Lisbon airport an easy 30 mins.

Home from home
Great house with lovely views. We had a very comfortable stay. Lots of great things to look at nearby and great beaches. We made full use of the swimming pool and spent a lot of time on the terrace admiring the surroundings.

As good as it looks
Casa do Cedro is quite as lovely as it looks. It is wonderfully spacious, comfortable and laid out and furnished with considerable style. While it can easily accomodate the full complement of 12, it is not just one big open plan space, and so is perfectly intimate for a smaller number. It is lovely spilling out from the kitchen onto the terrace, wandering down to the pool when it is hot, and retreating to the classically decorated sitting room.

Stunning rental property
From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The property was immaculate but not sterile like so many rental properties can be, with more than enough space for a large party of us and wonderful views over the mountains. Although we whiled away many days playing badminton in the garden, by the pool or lunches on the beautiful terrace when we did decide to venture out we found that there was lots to do within easy reach. The secluded 'beach of the bear' priya de orsa, was one of our favourites though there are also larger beaches with restaurants serving wonderful seafood and cervejas. I would highly recommend this property; I can't wait to go back!

Happy Families
We had a great time at this lovely villa with its excellent facilities. There was plenty to do in the vicinity, including sightseeing some of the lovely old villages and palaces, or visits to the spectacular coast, but we spent a lot of time at the property just chilling out and enjoying what the villa offers, particularly the pool and the garden. The children loved it, and were happy to play indoors on the odd occasion the weather kept us in. We can't wait to go back!

summer 2008 & 2009
We had a fantastic time a this amazing villa. Loved sitting on the terrace with beautiful mountain views, Pena Palace visible on one peak. Could have sat there all day with a good book whilst watching the kids play in the pool and garden. Plenty of space, lots of communal rooms, even a ping pong room upstairs. The nearby beach was great, especially enjoyed lunch at the beach bar. The cool night breezes made it easy to sleep. The villa is unique, full of lovely furniture and objects making it very homely and relaxing. Lisbon is just down the road and we spent a day wandering it's ornate, historic streets not to mention the shops. We went with another family and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. We've been twice, so far......
