About this house rental
Our clean and rustic home is at the base of Cranberry Peak of the Bigelow Range. We are 6.8 miles from Sugarloaf, an all-season resort, not only known for great skiing, but for its incredibly beautiful golf course and other outdoor activities.
Our home is open to guests from May through December. We are on a quaint, dead end road directly off Rt. 27, the main road to Sugarloaf. Our home is sunny, has a small brook in the back (more visible in early spring and late fall), is surrounded by fir trees, is peaceful and quiet, and is often visited by deer.
Spring, summer and fall are great times to stay!! 4 day minimum required/ $100 per night until the end of June and $150 per night beginning July 1. 10% discount for 7 or more nights. If you are a hunter or like to fish, Stratton, Maine is the place to come for deer, moose, turkeys, or birds. You can leave right from our backyard, and wander through the woods or on the many trail systems. Local folks can clue you in to all the great fishing holes!!! Bikers and hikers can access trails right in Stratton, or enjoy Sugarloaf Mountain trails, trails on the Bigelow Range, the Narrow Gauge pathway in Carrabassett Valley, or the Maine Huts and Trails. Flagstaff Lake is right down the road, surrounded by large red pines...you can kayak, swim, or fish!! On the other side of the lake is the great Maine Huts and Trails, where you can hike from hut to hut (trail open but huts are now closed). Rangeley is only 30 minutes away where you'll find more swimming options, activities, and restaurants. And, if you just like a quiet and peaceful get-away, our cabin would be ideal for you!
If you are not from Maine and want to include additional travel in your stay, the Canadian border is about 1/2 hour away, and Quebec City is 3 hours away. Other 3 hour destinations include the many scenic towns of the Maine coast, including Bar Harbor, and destinations in the state of New Hampshire, such as Mt. Washington.
More Information: Coplin Dinner House is within walking distance of our home - 3/8 of a mile away . Great gourmet food, or sandwiches at the bar. Hours vary in the summer. And, for a very small town area, there are 6 restaurants within 10 miles....with varying open hours during different seasons.
Sharing Our Home:
We use our home on a regular basis and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!! It is not a 4 star hotel, but it is as clean as you will find, simple, peaceful, and pleasantly decorated. Our rustic furnishings, pine interior, sunny porch, abundant windows, and beautiful surroundings will all help you to relax in this great Maine vacation area! Our 'electric' fireplace adds ambience and warmth of a fire! We look for renters who will respect and truly enjoy the property.
There are 3 cozy bedrooms with 1 queen and 2 full beds. We limit number of guests to 4 people.
We provide all furnishings and everything you need for meal preparation. For bedding we provide blankets and pillows. You will need to bring sheets (2 full beds, 1 queen) and towels. We will keep condiments, sugar, trash bags, tinfoil, saran wrap, etc., dish detergent for your use, but will ask that you resupply if you deplete the stock.
Our home is beautiful and clean and peaceful, and less costly than many other stand alone homes - we keep our prices reasonable because we don't have the amenities that expensive sites would have - we have hi speed internet but don't have cable or satellite tv. We do not have a washer and dryer available. We hope that it is helpful for you not to pay a security deposit or cleaning fee, and just ask that you leave the home as you found it. We , the owners clean and maintain, and we can keep our rent low with your help! Thank you.
Because we are close to preserved land, outdoor fires are not permitted.
CLEANING: Long before Covid, we prided ourselves in cleanliness. We ask guests to leave the home clean, and in addition, we have always done deep cleaning between guests. We will be complying with lodging checklists the State of Maine has issued. Blankets are washed, clean pillowcase covers are used, the bathroom is sanitized, fixtures are sanitized, all surfaces are cleaned, the stove and refrigerator are cleaned, floors are washed. You will find our home to be very clean!

Four day getaway to where the weather was cooler and less humid. This is the third time we've stayed here and it's always a joy. It's clean, quiet, and comfortable. We spent the most time on the screened in porch reading when we weren't out hiking and exploring. There's several very good restaurant nearby, we didn't bother cooking at the camp. I hope we get to come back next year!

The cabin was just as described. I loved that many things were labeled, including the light switches. The screened in porch was an amazingly comfortable and peaceful place to enjoy reading or listening to the birds. It was the perfect base location for hiking, swimming, kayaking, and there are so many great nearby eateries.

We had a great stay at this cabin, we were a group of 3 each with our own bedroom. I recommend this VRBO and look forward to staying again when in the area. The cabin was very clean, easy check in and well equipped. We paddled Flagstaff lake, North branch of the Dead River, and Pierce Ponds.

This is our third year at Toddy Pond making memories with our family. Loons, blueberries, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, eating blueberry pancakes for breakfast that the grandkids just picked.. swimming at secret beach..magical. The camp is spacious and has plenty of room for us all with a well stocked kitchen. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. Everyone loves the outdoor shower too. The camp is surrounded by trees and blueberry bushes and is very private. Perfect Maine experience.

This is a great cabin in a secluded area. The accommodations were excellent and very comfortable to sit around and relax after a long day out in the area around Eustis. We give it an A+++.

So love this place! Just like the pictures. The place is very peaceful and quiet. Just what we needed. Plenty to do in the area if you like the outdoors. Hiking, fishing kayaking or just sitting on the porch and reading a book. Can’t wait to go again. Thanks Susan

Family vacation
We spent 4 nights in this cozy house in the woods. Great location to Flagstaff Lake and a short drive in to Rangeley. Our boys loved playing in the yard and going down to the lake.

Great cozy cabin, lacking for nothing in any amenities. Quiet location, close to many attractions and hiking trails. A pleasure to come back to and relax after a long day of hiking. The hosts were very friendly and easy to communicate with. If in the area, I would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful to come back
We had been looking forward to returning ever since our last visit to this property. It's a peaceful getaway near Stratton with easy access to good restaurants for those time you don't feel like cooking and everything you need to cook when you do. Our 11 month old loved running around and looking out the windows. Looking forward to the next time we can return.

Just what we wanted - a quiet place up in the mountains of Maine!
Our stay was wonderful from start to finish! The cabin was well equipped, clean-as-a-whistle, well off of main roads, and very quiet. The Stratton-Eustis area is no doubt busy during ski season, but during our stay in late September, we found things to be just what we wanted - quiet and restful.
There is an excellent restaurant (The Coplin Dinner House) on the main road just across from the road leading to the cabin. We enjoyed an outstanding evening meal there and high recommend this restaurant.
Thanks to Sue for her prompt communications concerning arrival! We hope to be back next fall!

The cabin is spotless clean; this applies to bathroom, bedrooms, kitchen and every nook and cranny. It is stocked with all the necessities, including good wi-fi and a big screen. Cups and dishes are new. The dining table is big enough for a family. All 3 bedrooms are good size with doors and working windows. Furniture is comfortable and the cabin wood paneling is cozy and tasteful. The yard is spacious and the trees make it private, despite other houses nearby.
We happened to stay during an unusual heat wave and the cabin doesn't have A/C (as expected for a cabin, of course). The provided box fan did a good job in late evenings upon our return from hiking -- we put the fan on windows in bedrooms one after another and the temperature inside went down quickly enough.
There is very useful practical advice in the cabin (as in, where is the best chance to see a moose?) and lots of maps. The location is near everything that kids in the summer would want, including cool swimming holes (which on the weekdays we had all for ourselves), a sandy lake beach, easy mountain hikes, and we even took a day trip to the ocean when the local weather was rainy. Overall, a great base camp for summer family adventures, and we hope to return.
