One of North Captiva Island’s Best vacation homes, the Serendipity beach house is a luxury four bedroom three and half bath home that will sleep up to ten guests. This amazing home has it all! From the moment you arrive you will be mesmerized by the wonderful appointments, furnishings, amenities and sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico. The home has 2800 square feet under a/c with more than 4000 square feet of living space including open and screen decks. Thoughtful planning and design have gone into the remodeling of this wonderful home. If you want comfort and luxury, Serendipity is your spot for your next vacation.
Serendipity features a private heated pool with two pool loungers on the sun shelf and pool bar. This home was built for island living and set up for large multi-generational families or couples’ retreat. No details have been missed. North Captiva is an amazing place to explore, and Serendipity is equipped with two brand new (April 2024) 4-seater golf carts to explore the island.
You will find there is plenty to do while staying at Serendipity. Along with the heated pool, games, books, beach towels and beach chairs are provided. The gourmet kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances and lots of quartz counter space to work. The home has 5 Smart TV’s including one at the pool area. You will not want to leave this amazing place. There is plenty of room to stretch out with a game area, living room, many porches and a lovely pool area. Also, enjoy a fabulous roof top deck for sunrise and sunset views. This deck has cable railings for unobstructed viewing.
The sleeping arrangements are top notch with two master (king bedrooms) suites with private baths and access to the outside porches. Bedroom three features two twin beds which can be converted into a king. Bedroom four features a queen and set of bunk beds.
Membership to the Island Club is included with your stay. The amenities at the Island Club include two large pools as well as complimentary use of kayaks and bikes, which are first come first serve.

Great property
This was a perfect location and layout for our two families (4 adults, 4 kids). The house was really nice and clean, great kitchen space and several areas to relax or play. Great location and quick walk to the beach. The pool was one of the nicest we've stayed at and the house had everything we needed. Best house we've rented in our 4 visits.

Fantastic Family Spring Break
We (two families w school aged kids) had such a great time on North Captiva! Serendipity is well located with great views and is clean and comfortable. The layout worked very well for our two families with plenty of room to spread out in smaller groups but also large, comfortable spaces for when we came together as a group. We only have good things to say!!

Beautifully Maintained Beach House
We loved our stay at Jose’s Hideaway! The home is very well maintained and furnished with everything single thing we needed. The owners checked in to make sure we were happy. I hope to rent this home again!

Great location and beautiful house
This was our first time to North Captiva. We had a great experience. The house was very clean and in great condition. The property management service from Tortuga was excellent and responsive. The house is in a great location next to the beach with views of the sunset and sunrise at the top of the house daily. We have stayed at multiple houses in the Sanibel/Captiva area and this house is one of the best. We will definitely be going back.

Our family of 10 stayed from 12/19/21 thru 12/26/21 and had an amazing time! When we arrived on the ferry, Laurie and Duncan with Tortuga met us and made sure we were taken care of. All of our luggage and groceries were loaded onto a golf cart, and the Serendipity golf carts were waiting for us. Laurie took us to the house, and gave us a short overview of the island on the way. When we arrived at the house, all of our luggage and groceries were taken into the house. She gave a tour of the home and provided an overview of everything on the island. The house is beautiful and was very clean when we arrived. There was plenty of room for everyone and the bedrooms / bathrooms were perfect for us. The kitchen and living room areas are beautiful and there is plenty of space for everyone to spend time together. The kitchen is large and has everything you would need to make meals. There is a regular coffee pot and a Keurig. The refrigerator is large and there is a drink fridge under the counter. There is plenty of cabinet space and lots of dishes, glasses, utensils, etc. We spent quite a bit of time hanging out in the house because it is so beautiful and cozy. On each level, there are outdoor decks. The two lower decks are screened and we enjoyed our morning coffee on on the deck outside the living room. The two upper decks are amazing and the views from the rooftop are phenomenal! We watched the sunset from the roof every night we were there. The beach is a 30-second walk from the house and is right next to the airstrip. We enjoyed watching small planes and helicopters take off and land while at the beach. You can also take the golf carts to a larger beach area about 1/2 mile to the south. Then there's the pool at the house... It is perfect! We spent quite a bit of time at the pool and outdoor living area. There is plenty of seating / lounging furniture, a pool bar and an outdoor television. There are also two more small refrigerators in the pool area. The temperature was perfect and the pool area is beautiful.
Our first contact for booking was Sarah Rapp and she was wonderful to work with. She answered all my questions and put me in touch with the right people. The owners, Bob and Denise Cowen, were fantastic! They made sure a Christmas tree was up when we arrived. Tortuga took great care of us and delivered groceries and supplies when we needed them. Our overall experience was A+ and we will be returning to Serendipity!

Christmas in Paradise!

Way Above Our Expectations
My wife, two college sons and wife rented the unit for the week of Thanksgiving. We planned in the grandparents on both sides joining but neither could make it so this was much more house than we needed but man are we glad we reserved this unit.
To begin, this is our second stay on the island. We did this last year and used North Captiva Rental then. This time we used Tortuga and they were MUCH MUCH better. Very responsive to all questions, constant contact before the rental, during our stay, and after we left. Too many examples to cite but one example was my son came down with a tonsillitis shortly after arrival and I had to call in an Rx. Their concierge service went to the pharmacy, bought the Rx and delivered it to the house. Loved Tortuga. They can shop ahead for you and stock the kitchen and bar. We drove from Tennessee and grocery shopped ourselves. We had a ton of luggage and groceries and Tortuga handled porting everything for us. Remember to bring cash to tip.
Now for the house. It sits 50 feet from the beach. It looks out from every deck to the water with great sunrise and sunset views. The heated pool is wonderful and it has a great seating area under cover with a TV that has a Roku and direct tv. Got to see all the college and nfl games from the heated pool with quick dips in the ocean at half time. Rooms were very comfortable and this unit can comfortably sleep 10-12 people. It’s 5 stories tall with an awesome roof top deck w 360 degree views of ocean. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to do Thanksgiving dinner.
I can’t put into words exactly how awesome this place is. We were underwhelmed with the first rental through a N. Captiva Rentals but Serendipity is worth twice what we paid.
Thank you to Tortuga for the white glove service. You treated us like royalty.

Everything we Needed and Enjoyed!
The house had everything we needed for our week's stay. From bedrooms, baths, living spaces, pool and bar area, grill area and above all gorgeous ocean views from the entire second floor and the loveseats above and of course the top deck!

The staff, Was welcoming, responsive and they even checked in on us several times just to ask if we needed anything. Tortuga is the best!!! The house was stocked just as if you were at your own home, we were impressed. Will definitely be staying here again next year. Sunshine and Seashells Galore!
We had a great stay at Serendipity! The house had plenty of space for our family of four to spread out. We enjoyed all the fun activities at the house including: ping pong, bean bag toss, sunsets on the roof, pool time with plenty of pool toys, star gazing from the deck, and games! The kitchen was well stocked and had everything you need to make meals and drinks. Having a washer and dryer was great too! The views from the house were truly spectacular and we enjoyed daily walks on the beach looking for sand dollars, sea shells, turtles, manatees, and dolphins. The kids loved taking golf cart rides. The only issues we had upon arrival were that we were missing several of the promised amenities including: hand soap, toilet paper, trash bags, paper towel, shampoo, and conditioner. We arrived on Saturday and some of the items were not delivered until Tuesday. We eventually got everything we needed, but it would have been nice to have everything at check in. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we loved exploring our first time on North Captiva Island!

4 Geographically Remote Couples Reconnect at Serendipity
I know I can speak for our entire group when I say that we immensely enjoyed the Serendipity House on Seair Lane! The house was as advertised and had all the amenities our group could ask for. We did think that the second Master Bedroom had a king size bed as it appeared to be bigger in the photos. Probably our own oversight in reading the house descriptions. That slight initial disappointment was quickly erased by all of the other house amenities! Both the house and the pool were lovely and well-stocked. We really appreciated how well-stocked the kitchen was with both a Keurig and regular coffee pot, all sorts of kitchen gadgets and serving platters, various pan sizes and so much more!
The 8 of us used every square inch of the house for conversations, reading, games, viewing the sunsets and sunrises, meals and general relaxation! Everything in the house was in good working order and the furniture was comfortable and clean.
The views for sunsets and sunrises were outstanding from the rooftop deck and the proximity to the beach was great! The beach directly in front of the house has large rocks blocking the access, but a 100 foot walk down the shoreline is all that's needed to find better ocean access. We loved all of the various beaches on the island, morning hiking in the preserve, shelling at the sandbar, and a couple lunches and dinners at Mainstays and Over the Waterfront.
Ice cream at Mainstays was also a nice evening treat for our group!
We loved North Captiva Island and would definitely consider a return not only to the island but to Serendipity should we do a group or family vacation again!

We stayed with our best friends in this amazing house and it was such a fantastic, unexpected last minute getaway! We had friends staying only a short walk or golf cart ride away as well and it was so easy to travel about the Island. The easy pace, the friendly locals, the cool shops, and of course the spectacular weather we had while there, made our trip incredible! Our kids were in the pool any time we were not at the beach and the kitchen was where many fabulous meals were created by our talented chefs (aka our husbands). We spent every evening on the rooftop watching the sunset and I even got up early enough to see the sunrise - it was all so remarkable! There is more than enough space to have privacy in separate decks, screened in porch as needed and great large spaces to play games and gather.
Sarah communicated directly to us and was very responsive, Laurie and Duncan were very attentive and helped make our stay even more carefree by helping us get additional groceries! Jorge was fantastic too - we've never seen anyone carry so many heavy packages up and down those stairs so quickly.
We highly recommend this extraordinary home and will hopefully have the opportunity to stay there in the future!

Family Getaway
Lovely home, especially enjoyed the evening sunsets on the roof every night ...spectacular. large family room which was used nightly for lots of games and discussions around meals. Kitchen was well stocked although the knives could use a sharpening. The pool area is huge and we enjoyed playing cornhole and other games while lounging poolside. wonderful vacation! Thanks!

North Captiva in February...
Serendipity is a very nice home, just as shown on VRBO, and the owners have recently updated. Well appointed and comfy beds. Pool area/bar is great to hang out and the heated pool is nice/ a must for winter season. Sunsets are beautiful from the house and the various levels both screened and open air make for great options. Nice to have 2 golf carts with the house - needed to get around. Going early Feb is a mistake if you’re seeking warm weather/swim suits and shorts; too unpredictable until end Feb. The island itself is ok. Lots of sea shells you can gather. The “resort” is a bit run down - one of two pools unusable with yellow hazard tape around it, tennis courts badly need resurfaced. You MUST bring or have all your groceries delivered from mainland (we did the latter and all were there conveniently upon arrival; there is a 40% fee for this service given a 30 minute boat ride from mainland to NCI) unless you plan to eat out every meal - and options are very limited (3). There is NO grocery on the island. No water sports on this island (you can fish, but nothing else). NCI is an ok spot if low key is what you’re after.

Beautiful Relaxing Getaway
We spent NYE at Serendipity and it was wonderful. North Captiva Island is one of the rare getaways in the domestic 48 states where you feel like like you're in another world. Each home is seriously with vegetation and the golf carts give it a paid back feel. Amazing shelling, nature preserve, long walks on the beach, and wildlife (lots of dolphins, manatees and birds).
Access to the North Captiva Island Club gives you free bikes, kayaks, tennis rackets and access to courts and the pools.
The house itself was great. Clean and spacious. Duncan and the management team are highly communicative and addressed the minor maintenance issues we encountered. From picking us up at the dock, to checking on us, to check out, all was smooth.
The house is well stocked in the kitchen with Keurig, crock pot, blender, and everything you need for the week. The pool includes floats, some toys, beach chairs and umbrellas, etc. Everything you need.

Fantastic property on a beautiful island!
This was our first experience on North Captiva and it couldn't have been more memorable. The property is situated in an ideal part of the island: a few paces from the beach and only a few minutes from the island's center.
Our family of 8 was able to comfortably enjoy ourselves and the conveniences Serendipity offered.
Duncan & Laurie are a stellar team and were very responsive to all of our questions and requests.
We will certainly be back!

Serendipity is 2 Thumbs up!
We stayed at Serendipity with another family of 4 over Thanksgiving and loved it. The view from the upper deck is stunning. The living space is open and has plenty of room for both families. We enjoyed many nights of ping pong on the screened in porch & the location to the beach is great. That part of the island the beach is slowly eroding away but from morning until 3ish when the tide comes in, you can walk right out at the end of the street and hang on the beach or walk up to the sandbar. Laurie & Duncan went above & beyond...my son left his blankies at a hotel in Cape Coral & they picked it up for us and delivered it to him. We ordered fresh fish twice & that was also seamless. We had a great week at Serendipity!

Vacation 2019
We have rented on North Captiva a few times when the kids were young. Now they are adults and we came back. The place was wonderful and it was nice on the hot days to come back and relax at the pool. The views are the best from on top and location was great. The staff was amazing checking on our every need.

Complete Relaxation and Unbelievable Sunsets
Our family of four just returned from our week long stay at Serendipity in North Captiva. We were a little nervous to stay on an island where there is very little in the way of dining options or groceries, but we also wanted to do something a little different and see a place we’ve never seen before. Sarah, the booking agent, was very helpful with suggestions of all that we would need to arrange to make our travel go smoothly. We arranged for a private taxi from Pine Island Taxi and they were there waiting for us at the Ft. Myers airport. Sean was our driver and he was so patient as he waited for us to get our baggage during a lightning storm, which caused a long delay. We ordered our groceries from Publix and the taxi took us to pick them up, and then dropped us at the marina where a private boat from Boats and Fun was waiting to take us to the island. Upon arrival, which was about 8 pm, Duncan met us and took us to our home, helped unload luggage and showed us around the place. The home is very nicely updated, clean and has a well-equipped kitchen. There are also games and puzzles for the rainy days. Our favorite part of this home was the crows nest at the top which has an incredible 360 degree view of the island. There’s loungers and seating up there and our whole family enjoyed time there during the days, and watched the sunset almost every night. The sunsets there are spectacular! The home has wonderful seating all through the house and really comfortable beds, as well.
While we do prefer a location with more restaurant choices, we found the food that was available to be quite good, and the servers were very friendly. We ended up needing to get more groceries in the middle of the week, but Tortuga property managers took care of this with ease. We also had them order fresh seafood for us one evening and it was delicious! I was able to relax so much there that I didn’t mind cooking a few meals in the evenings. I would recommend buying more groceries than you think you’ll need and meal planning ahead of time. Our daughters are 16 and 20 and we so enjoyed time with them with not much to distract us. We enjoyed walking the beach, swimming in the pool and watching sunsets. The golf carts were a nice touch too. Our girls drove them to the North Captiva pool for lunch one day, and enjoyed some sister time. It was a very relaxing week!

Wonderful beautiful home!! Great location!!
We had a great time with our 4 adult/3 kiddos family vacation. Serendipity had everything we needed and was a beautiful home to spend our time in. The screened in decks, swimming pool and short walk (50 steps) to the beach were just the tip of the iceberg. The property managers Duncan and Laurie were extremely helpful especially when we needed help to get some prescription medicine from the mainland. Easily a 5 star rental home. Book it quick. We can’t wait to come back again.

We had the pleasure of calling Serendipity "home" for the last month and HOME is exactly what it felt like! Everything about the experience was top notch! The property is well maintained and stocked with everything you would ever need for a great trip for families, couples or friends. The screened in pool is perfect and was a sanctuary between trips to the beach. The crows nest has great furniture to lounge with coffee at sunrise or cocktails for sunset...there is not a better spot on NCI. Bob & Denise have assembled a great team to make your visit trouble free! For booking - Sarah is very responsive and right on top of things, great to deal with. The Tortuga team that manages the property on island was fantastic to work with. Duncan, Laurie, Sean & Ally made sure our stay exceeded all expectations. Checkin & out, followup, supplies, groceries, pool service all was fantastic. As in most properties things can break...two items needed fixed, both taken care of in a matter of hours not days or weeks. The home owners were very attentive as well...Thank you Bob & Denise for caring about your guests and checking in to be sure all is good. You have gone above and beyond in having the house stocked for guests needs. The kitchen has everything you could ever need - Keurig, crockpot, every possible baking pan & dish, storage containers- you name it! Margarita machine and bar fridge are a great added feature. Tennis equipment, pool toys, pool loungers, ping pong, games, books and puzzles it is all here for the toddlers to the elders - we had 2 through 80 over the course of our stay. Others have detailed the island and what to expect so we will simply state...to relax and unwind there is no better place. Our only mistake...we brought far too many clothes with us- even for a month...pack light and if needed throw a load in the washer and dryer- all laundry supplies included as well! This was our third stay in this house and we are already looking forward to next year as we have booked for a month again! You can't go wrong here! Book early and book often - we are! Thanks! R & D

Wonderful house & location
We really enjoyed our week out there. Our kids kept saying that their favorite part of the vacation was the house. Even though it rained one of the days we still had a lot to do since the house has a pool, ping pong and games. And the team that manages the house were great to work with. I would stay there again for sure!

Second stay at Serendipity for us. Great house in an awesome location on North Captiva. Owner is very responsive to any questions and local property management team is awesome. House is well stocked, tastefully decorated, and in great shape. Highly recommended!

One of the best completely stocked houses on the island with incredible beach views!!
Our exrended family of 9 enjoyed everything about this house! We have been coming to the island for years and this house was fully stocked with everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked, linens were amazing, towels and beach chairs easy to get to and the furniture inside and outside was very comfortable. The pool area was fun and we loved the outdoor bar area. The large area upstairs was breath taking with plenty of comfortable furniture to watch the most beautiful sunsets. Getting our luggage and gear to the house was easy with all their help. The island itself is one of our favorite places to vacation. We love exploring the island on the golf carts, seeing manatees, dolphins, turtles, swimming, finding the most beautiful shells and great fishing.
