My husband and I have been enjoying MDI in September for years and we wanted to bring our adult sons! We love being on the quiet side although it does add to the driving time for some of the activities. This house has a great kitchen and the screened porch is wonderful! We loved the easy access to the rocky beach and enjoyed walking down there at low tide!

Serene home away from home. If you love Acadia but not the crowds, this is the perfect location. Joy and Peter are excellent hosts, and you'll want for nothing!

Overall a great experience.

Our family loved staying in Duck Cove! The house provided ample space for our family to spread out and have their own space. The house was well stocked for travelers - Joy and Peter thought of most things a traveler would need. The house was clean, neat and well cared for. It was quiet and secluded which is nice after a spending time in the busy streets of Bar Harbor. We enjoyed the yard, beach/cove area, and grill (we grilled our “catch” after a day of fishing and other meals). It is close to Bass Harbor and Southwest Harbor which provides all the necessities (groceries, restaurants (Beal’s vs Thurston’s), and shopping. Thank you Joy and Peter for making sure our every need was addressed. Great stay!!!
We would definitely stay here again!!

We loved our stay at Joy & Pete's place. Everything was great and it became our home away from home.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was lovely and well maintained. Had everything we needed. Sunrises were beautiful.
We travelled with another couple so the layout was perfect where we each had our own space and separate bathrooms.
The location is in a quiet neighborhood only a short 20 minute ride to Bar Harbor where it was quite busy.
Easy access to many hiking trails in Acadia.
There are good choices for restaurants near by in Southwest Harbor, our fave was Hearth & Harbor. Overall a great stay. Will definitely be back!

A beautiful home in a scenic location, comfortable and clean accommodations, excellent host, and good access to the Quiet Side of MDI and Acadia National Park.

This is a really lovely home on the banks of an inlet. There were 5 of us and it was a very good size for our group. Beds are comfortable, and the view out the back is beautiful.
One thing that may need attention is the musty smell in the basement. We enjoyed playing ping pong down there, and opened the windows for fresh air, but they might want to consider a dehumidifier.
This is a waterfront property, but due to the tides, there are times when the water isn't in the bay. We were a little surprised by the lack of water when we first arrived at low tide, but then we enjoyed watching it come and go.
Overall, a good trip. We went to Acadia twice, and especially liked Cadillac Mountain. The crowds were pretty bad, even in September, so we drove over to the Schoodic Peninsula, which is much quieter and just as beautiful. We drove into Bar Harbor twice, but the crowds were bad there too. Fortunately, we found good restaurants and shopping in other areas, so didn't feel like we missed out on anything.

Great location on 'the quiet side of the island'. Close enough to all the sights of MDI, but without the crowds.
The house is right on the cove with a great view of the water. There's plenty of room for a family with a large screened porch and a smaller deck off the kitchen.
Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the hosts were very helpful, responsive and communicative.
Well worth a visit!

Even better than you think!
My family and I have stayed in a lot of Maine rentals. Being able to successfully decipher rental listings is still something that eludes me. We booked later than we should have and this was one of the only houses available for a 2-week stretch so we felt we were settling a bit. WE WEREN'T! This house should be booked all summer! This house was great! The pictures really don't do it justice. The grounds are beautiful, the gardens and landscaping magical and that's all before you go down the new wooden staircase to the rocky beach where the pines meet the sea. Easy access for kayaking and paddleboarding or just swimming. It's not a huge beach area, depending on the tide but it's just enough - I spent hours watching the kids play and reading in the sun. Southwest Harbor, the house's closest town center is just enough. Not packed like Bar Harbor you feel like this is your town - It has really good food (Little Notch and Eat-A-Pita (don't be fooled by that name), shops, ice cream (Salt Shop), wine and cheese (Sawyer's Wine) and a small market (Sawyer's). When they say "The way life should be" this is what they mean. Passed Southwest Harbor is a quick drive to Echo Lake and Acadia. Tremont is a great home base from which to explore a really wonderful part of Maine! The house was well equipped with all the pots and pans, great chopping knives, serving dishes, etc you could need. The kids loved the ping pong table in the basement rec room area. The beds could be more comfortable but I think they are new as there were recent improvements/repairs to the house. Note: the shower upstairs in one of the bedrooms did not function as a shower, only a bathtub and bringing more bath towels than the owner supplies wouldn't be a bad idea. The screened in porch was my favorite place! The owners were kind and responsive and very helpful.

Peaceful, comfortable, and private.
The house was spacious enough for everyone to have their own area. The kids loved the ping pong table downstairs and screened in porch was a favorite for me. The yard is gorgeous with mature plants and the house is tucked behind some trees away from the road so it was quite private. The area is very rural but there are a lot of nearby hidden gems. Make sure you check out the Quietside Snacks, a little food truck right on Tremont Rd, just a couple of miles away. And the Bass Harbor lighthouse is only 5 miles down the road, too.

Lovely Acadia Trip
Thank you for a great week! We loved the view from your home and had everything we needed. The hosts were very helpful and answered all of our questions before we arrived. We rented kayaks from Scotty’s Kayaks and enjoyed paddling in the cove. We had plenty of space and the property was clean and well cared for. Everything was perfect- thanks again!

Coveside
We had a lovely week enjoying the beauty of the Cove. We enjoyed just taking in the beauty, the sea air (and fog!) and the wildlife. The house is comfortable and very well stocked. The kitchen is lovely and much better than a typical rental. We’re cooks so we appreciate that:). Joy was completely available and easy to chat with. Lots of quiet corners for a little soace for everyone.

We're already talking about our next trip back to Seal Cove
The cottage on seal cove was super quiet and very clean. I real nice place to stay. Everything we needed and expected was there. We wish we could have stayed longer and would come back in a heartbeat. We did run into a little issue with being there after Columbus Day, which seems to be the semi-official end of the season. We had some trouble finding restaurants closed in the smaller communities (not Bar Harbor).

Excellent stay!
From booking to check out Joy was helpful and fast with communication. The property is very well maintained, spotless, and full of thoughtful amenities. I only wish we could have stayed longer, will definitely stay here again! Location was peaceful with a stunning view of the water, close enough to enjoy Bar Harbor and Acadia without the crowds. If you are slightly considering this rental, stop-BOOK IT NOW! ☺️

Diamond Day in Your Future?
As you enjoy your morning coffee from the breakfast nook or screened-porch, the rising sun and wind will create countless glittering diamonds on Duck Cove. At low tide, go down the steps and hunt for shells and be sure to turn right and walk the 1/3 mile to the point for a stunning view. It's a great place to stay. Be sure to ask the owner if she adjusted the temperature on the first floor shower so the hot water is a tad hotter. You'll want that on a chilly Maine morning.

Great Week
This is a lovely property in a great location. Everything was as advertised. The landscaping is very nice, the house is comfortable, kitchen is well stocked and the best part is the screened in porch. It's a perfect place to eat, relax and watch the cove. The kayaking in the cove is so much fun. Joy was readily available to answer any questions. We would definitely rent this property again.

A wonderful place. On the water and a great location. Very quiet and well furnished. The screened in porch that was recently added was a great place to relax and enjoy the cool breeze. We hope this property continues to be available for rent.

Wonderful Stay!
Our stay at Cove's Edge was fabulous! The house is GORGEOUS! We absolutely loved relaxing in the roomy and comfortable screen porch. The cove is so quiet and private and it was nice to be away from all the crowds in Bar Harbor. It was an easy and scenic drive to do all that we wanted to do in Acadia. Joy was extremely responsive and very pleasant to work with. I would absolutely stay here again! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay near Acadia.

Wonderful views
We had a lovely week away at Cove’s Edge. The water views outside the dining room window and screened porch were stunning. Our teenagers enjoyed paddle boarding in the cove. The home is well-designed with great flow and comfortable spaces. We really enjoyed Bass Harbor, including Thurston’s for lobster and a fantastic afternoon doing the nature cruise through Island Cruises.

Maine coastline relaxation
This was the perfect property for our family visit to this quiet area of MDI. The beach allowed for relaxing afternoons and shore side adventuring for the grandkids. Easy access for kayaking and paddle boarding at high tide. The screen porch was a great "outdoor Livingroom" for meals, reading and relaxing with family. Great vacation home!

Away from it all
Having been to MDI several times, we wanted to try the quieter side of the island. The Tremont location is a quiet location but we discovered some new favorite walks close by. The house is lovely - you could do as much or as little as you want. A base to see the island or you can sit in the screened porch and relax. Great WiFi for our WFH daughter. House had everything, communicative host and we’d easily return if we have the opportunity.

Bar Harbor Alternative
Went here after a Bar Harbor wedding to re-unite with family post-Covid. View of the cove was lovely; we rented kayaks to paddle around. Close to Acadia so we could run into park to hike. House was clean and well-stocked…excellent kitchen. Living room furniture was not the most comfortable, but the screened in porch with comfortable lounge furniture, unobstructed water view, and all of the outdoor sounds and smells was everyone’s favorite place! Just loved exploring the area with beautiful little harbors, picturesque views, and authentic lobster pounds like Thurstons and Beales.

I wish I owned this home! It is far more beautiful than the pictures show. You are about 30-40 min from bar harbor/Acadia. However you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city and in reality you could just stay at the house all week and I’d be almost content just staying there. The screened in porch was dreamy the views of the water were picturesque we found a few place to get groceries and at out at the upper deck which was a nice “quiet side” vibe that we all enjoyed. The house was immaulately clean, even had little hotel soaps in case you forgot your own. The beds were moderately firm which I was good with after doing a days worth of hiking, plenty of space for the kids to run around and be kids. Ping pong table downstairs. The garden is beautiful and the house is clearly well maintained. Communicating with Joy was simple, and easy although I really didn’t need her because all of my needs were met! We will be back!

Marvelous location
We loved the seaside cottage in Tremont, Maine. It was so peaceful and a dream location with the ocean and beach to comb for shells and clams. The house was well stocked and clean. The kitchen has a marvelous view of the cove. The location was about 30 minutes from Bar Harbor and the main sites for Acadia but we liked being removed from the tourists and having a quiet cottage with a real Maine Experience. We loved it and will definitely be back. The kids loved the seashore, ping pong table, wonderful library and puzzles.

Beautiful sea side cottage
Great location- private-plenty of room for the 5 people we had. Only negative was the living room furniture was stiff- and if you came in summer no AC might be a issue- but the weather was perfect for our stay- we needed no heat or AC

Fantastic location and host!
Joy's cottage on the cove was the most idyllic location around Acadia, with a view out to the sea. It was convenient to both Bar Harbor and Acadia (40 min drive) as well as to local spots near SW Harbor. The place was more than spacious for our family of 5 adults. As it sometimes happens, we had a few issues with the property but Joy was incredibly responsive, reactive, and quick to remedy it. You absolutely want that in a host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thank Joy for making our first trip to Acadia a blast!

Perfect stay
Needed a peaceful getaway long weekend with the family and this place was perfect. Its located in a quiet area away but close enough to go to Acadia. The house was better than I had expected. It had everything we needed. The house was super clean which was very important especially during covid 19. My favorite is just looking out from the windows. My family and I had a great time and wish to come back. Everything went smoothly!
