Clean, comfortable, convenient and worthwhile

Clean, washer/dryer, easy check-in/check-out, comfortable, spacious, good location, good value for money.

Nice and new boutique hotel in a great location

It was so nice to have a larger apartment with a small kitchen. Great addition with a washing machine including some soap. And the heated function to dry clothes in the bathroom is awesome. Great location.

The beds are hard. So hard we asked for extra blankets to pad it up a bit. It’s unfortunate because everything else was great. Also since there’s a kitchen some basics like salt and pepper and even some cooking oil would be great. When you’re only there 3-4 days it’s nice not to have to buy all that. Many places supply it.

Wil stay In Hotel Mondonce when we visit Kyoto again.

Hotel Mondonce Kyoto is a small service apartment hotel. Its about 10min walk from Gojo station. They have a 24hr reception. The room has a balcony which is really nice. Eventhough the standard room that we had was a bit cramped for 4 adults, the balcony help to make it less tight. There is a nice supermarket a short walk away called Fresco which had fruits, vegetables and meat for sale. Not the usual convenience store like Lawsons. We managed to cook a simple meal. The kitchenette was small but sufficient. Room has a washing machine but not dryer. Clothes have to be dried in the bathroom which has this brilliant heating, drying and fan function. By hanging clothes over the bathtub and DRY function, clothes are prefectly dry in 4 hrs. No need to iron as clothes are not crinkled compared to drying clothes in machine. Down the down, there is a Michelin star Ramen place which is really good.

Reception mostly do not speak English. So used Google translate. We only managed to get a standard room which is a bit tight for 4 adults. Only 1 suitcase can be kept open. The other suitcases have to be kept in the cupboard which is fortunately big enough to put all the unopened suitcases. We had to place all our clothes on the shelf and hangers in the cupboard which is OK.

Excellent 'home' away from home.

This family studio was excellent for a more-than week long stay. Excellent bathroom, washing machine and drying facility was perfect. Truly sustainable in terms of water, electricity and waste management. We used the pull-out sofa bed and this was comfortable. It had everything for self-catering meals, but also simple restaurants and shops nearby.

Wifi was pretty-dismal, most evenings we went on our mobile data plans. We were not able to arrange for luggage delivery to airport, and were advised to go to the nearest 7-11 store to make the arrangements; but 7-11 would have needed our days around 2-3 days in advance of our departure.

The room was supposed to accommodate 6 people, but the beds could only accommodate 5! Fortunately, the staff provided extra blanket and one of our children could sleep on the floor. No shutters, no curtains. Very light in the room very early in the morning

Good base to explore Kyoto.

You have a small apartment in the streets of Kyoto. The main tourist attractions of Kyoto are fairly spread out but you can walk to various spots or take a good public transport route to it. The staff is tremendous and cater to all your needs.

Excellent, clean , great stay for families.

Very clean and well kept property. Check in was smooth and the lock systems to get in meant your don’t have to carry around any cards or keys! The beds were big and sufficient for us as a family of four. Toilets had shampoo, body wash etc and you could get toothbrushes and other things from reception. The washing machine in the toilet was of great use for us with young kids! The location is in a quiet residential area but lots of local shops like 7/11 close by and some very good restaurants at walking distance. Kyoto station was a 15-20 minute walk depending on pace but lots of taxis around as well on the Main Street. The street is narrow and quiet which was appreciated as no noise at night. I would really recommend this property and if we ever returned we would stay there again.

Some teas and coffees in the room would’ve been nice.

We had a lovely visit and would stay here again.

It was plenty of room for myself and two daughters. We used the kitchenette to make breakfast every morning. I liked having a washing machine in the room. The Fresco grocery store was close by to purchase food.

Great location in Kyoto and extremely comfortable

We stayed for a month and got an excellent rate because we booked way in advance. I can't say enough about this unassuming place which is excellently located close to the shopping areas and train station. We didn't have anyone cleaning the rooms, but then again we didn't want anyone coming in to clean the place. It was simple enough to ask for a change of linen and fresh towels when needed. My family and I booked the super deluxe apt, which had everything we needed. The kitchen is minimal as is everything in Japan, but we made do with what we had. Microwave, stove, fridge and boiler to heat water for coffee all were convenient. There was a washing machine as well which came in super handy, and you could even dry your clothes right there in the shower area. If we go back to Kyoto this would be my first choice again, great location and comfortable beds.

The only negative thing I would say is that there were no English speaking channels on the T.V., but we didn't go there to watch T.V. anyway.

Even though we were there only for a short stay we were very comfortable and would return if we are in the area again.

Loved the apartment style. My teens liked that it was a mix of traditional Japanese (wet room) and modern living. The staff that greeted us was very friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay here. The location was a 15 min walk to Kyoto station and a 12 min walk to Kurasuma shopping are

The property was beautiful. Very new, clean and in a good location. Also it was in a quiet area with no outside noise.

The beds were very hard. I think the accommodation would be perfect if they had mattress toppers on top of the mattresses.

Qiet and spacious apartment with good access to public transportation

Very nice apartment in a good location with great access to public transportation and a supermarket close by. According to Japanese standards it was quite big, but still there was only limited space for the suitcases and their content. The kitchen was well equipped.

The beds had a good size but the mattresses were far to hard. Therefore I would not recommend the apartment for people who sleep preferably on their side. The reception staff could be more educated about restaurants in close proximity as we would not get a recommendation the first night and learned over time that there are plenty of opportunities.

Small clean apartment

Nice clean & quiet room in good location. Great room instructions explaining how everything worked. Liked the clothes drying facility in the bathroom.

Suited us fine but would have been very cramped for 4 people. TV only showed Japanese local programs.

Ok hotel. New, clean but very small room

It’s a new hotel. Nice and simple. Very clean and the discounted rate was good value. Location is ok, not great. Nice bathroom.

Internet in room 505 was awful. There was no one available for check-in and then I received numerous emails asking for my documents. Breakfast is just a frozen onigiri and a table of instant miso soup. No coffee or tea. Room was much smaller than in the photo, we were constantly bumping against the TV as we moved inside the room.

Nice and clean hotel, location is 5-7mins walk to the nearest station

Breakfast was essentially microwaved rice balls and miso soup. However I must say they were very generous with the frozen rice balls and instant miso soup. You could have as much as you liked. Also, hotel is close to many good restaurants (within 10mins walk).
