About this cabin rental
A 3,000-square-foot, three-story log home, Apple Bear Lodge can sleep up to 18 people. But sleep may be the last thing on your mind once you take note of all the lodge’s amenities, which include a hot tub, a pool table, foosball and free Wi-Fi.
Set atop a steep driveway, Apple Bear Lodge looks out over woodlands toward the Great Smoky Mountains. Its two covered rear decks, which span the width of the home, offer plenty of space for the whole group to watch the trees sway in the breeze as to warblers and thrushes sing in the sunshine. When you’re not kicking back on the deck rocking chairs, you can sit at the main deck’s patio table with a drink and a snack. And for a true treat, luxuriate in the lower deck’s hot tub, especially at night. The combination of the steamy jets of water, the star-studded sky and the serenading of owls is an experience you’ll long remember.
You’ll find plenty more to do inside. The downstairs game room has something to keep every member of your group entertained for hours. Shoot some pool at the full-size billiard table, challenge friends to a game of foosball, play cards at the pub table or stretch out on the plush couches and watch a movie on the 60-inch flat-screen TV. On chilly winter days, the fireplace will keep the space toasty, and the wet bar ensures that no one will go thirsty.
The living room is another inviting gathering spot. It too has a fireplace, whose golden glow will add to the luster of the wood-planked walls, floor and ceiling. Stretch out on the leather sofa to watch the big game on the flat-screen TV or curl up in one of the plush armchairs with your tablet and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to read or chat, head to the upstairs sitting area, which like the rest of Apple Bear Lodge is furnished in comfortable, quietly elegant fashion.
The dining area can seat 12 people, eight at the lengthy dining table and another four at the adjacent breakfast bar. The kids will probably love eating “by themselves” at the breakfast bar while the adults linger at the table.
If you enjoy cooking, you’ll love Apple Bear Lodge’s large, open kitchen, with its stainless-steel appliances, ample cookware and tableware and generous storage and counter space. Even if you don’t plan to cook much, you’ll appreciate having a coffee maker for your morning cup, a microwave to heat up restaurant leftovers, a blender for mixing margaritas and a fridge for keeping juice boxes cold.
Each of the lodge’s four bedrooms has its own bathroom with both a tub and a shower. The two upstairs bedrooms and the bedroom on the main floor each feature a king-size bed, the fourth bedroom, downstairs, has queen-size bunk beds. In addition, the upstairs sitting area has bunk beds and a sofa that opens into a queen-size bed, and the living room sofa opens into a queen-size bed as well. The variety of sleeping areas makes Apple Bear Lodge an ideal option for a family reunion, a wedding party or several families vacationing together.
Not only is there plenty of fun to be had at Apple Bear Lodge, but there’s also loads to see and do just minutes away. You can drive to downtown Gatlinburg in less than 10 minutes. Once there, visit the Guinness World Records Museum, play mini golf, enjoy thrill rides or ride the tram up to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area. The wildlife, wildflowers and waterfalls of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are less than 15 minutes from the cabin, and Pigeon Forge’s attractions, including Dollywood, are less than a half-hour away.
Conveniently located, fabulously spacious and packed with amenities, Apple Bear Lodge really does have it all. So book your stay today, and get ready for what might be your best vacation yet!
Please Note; The driveway Apple Bear Lodge is steep. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended.

Beautiful cabin! Perfect for our family/friend vacation for 11 people. The driveway is very steep but is manageable without 4 wheel drive. It was hard to get the teens out of the house with the game room. Having access to a washer and dryer helped tremendously, although the dryer takes multiple cycles to dry a regular size load.

Everything was as stated in listing. Other than no air hockey table, the game room was fun :) hot tub worked great. If you consider this cabin just know the driveway is VERY steep !!!! My only complaint would be that the jets didn’t work in any of the tubs inside except one upstairs. If that would have worked it would have been PERFECT in my opinion. My kids, family and friends had an amazing time here and seen a bear in the driveway the first day arriving !

The place was beautiful and very roomy.
The hill was something else.
The hot tub did not work. Tripping the breaker in the main panel.
There was no air hockey table.
The ceiling in the kitchen was leaking when taking a shower.

We rented this house for a total of 18 people back in January. 12 adults,4 children & 2 infants. It was rather spacious but only sleeps 16. The only reason we fit is because our infants slept in packnplays. Positives: it is spacious. When we finally could get ahold of the company near the end we finally had someone to come out to fix the problems. The manager also made sure I got a partial refund for some of the amenities we didn’t get to enjoy.(hot tub/game room stuff)Negatives:The hill is rather steep which they have marked in the listing. When we got there I got a call saying the hottubs water heater was out & they’d notify me when the part was in. It never got in but looking back into reviews from February on people have started complaining about it. It sounds like they don’t want to not list the hot tub. Other problems we had was lips on the upstairs & downstairs were loose and our 11 year old fell down & luckily was fine because of it. The pool sticks were all broken, Foosball table had missing handles & the white side score box was broken, joystick to the arcade was sticky & didn’t move right. The coffee pot(2 of them) were both broke. The hot water tanks one was leaking and most of the time the water didn’t stay hot for long periods of time. The right upstairs bathroom when the shower was running started leaking into the kitchen. Some dressers were broken.
Once someone came they said they weren’t contacted quickly. The owners don’t want 2 upkeep! Won’t be here again

This cabin wouldn’t be bad if they updated it and fixed broken things. When we first got there the door knob to go out to the deck would not open. We had to use something to pry it open. The fridge did not get cold until the next morning. The hot tub did not get warm and only one jet worked. There is only one good pool stick for the pool table. The foosball table handles were broken. There is not table on the deck outside to set coffee, eat, play cards or do anything. I called twice the day we got there to try and get things fixed. No one came. I called again the next morning and someone finally came to fix the door knob. He said that they know the hot tub is broken but a hot tub company needs to come fix it… don’t advertise a hot tub as the main picture of the listing if it doesn’t work…. The beds are old. They stated there would be free attraction tickets, there were none. We read the reviews before booking and thought maybe it wouldn’t be so bad and we’d give it a chance. We would not stay here again unless updated.

The house and location were excellent! Myself and another guest road motorcycles; the driveway was very steep, but paved, just be cautious. Outside of that we had two minor maintenance issues, but the management team reached out immediately and started the work-orders. Then maintenance came out the same day within a few hours: excellent response time! Far better than we’ve had in past experiences elsewhere!

Oh where to begin….driveway was treacherous. So steep tires were squealing in low gear. Glad it wasn’t raining or we wouldn’t have made it up to the house. Alarm was broken so we could never secure the property or our belongings. Master shower was broken so getting the temperature comfortable was impossible and water pressure sucked. Cable with lock to secure the hot tub was cut.
And to top it off we had a used bar of hand soap and half a roll of toilet paper as our “starter pack”
When we brought these issues to the property manager we were placated with promises to repair stuff but no one ever showed up to fix any issues except supplying a pack of unused hand soap. They tried to offer us free attraction tickets to appease us except those are given out freely at Food City. Jackson property management is the worse. The house was okay but won’t stay here again. Consider yourself warned!

Nice place
Terrible driveway definitely wouldn’t go in the winter
Had 18 people and they only had like 10 towels and 10 pillows so that wasn’t to great but they brought extra towels after a couple of days
But other then that it was a great stay very nice house

This cabin is very spacious and had plenty of room for 3 families and is in a great location. However, it has some issues. First off, that driveway is insane. The trash bins are located at the bottom of the driveway which is extremely inconvenient. You have to haul trash in your car down the driveway to put it in the cans. We were only provided with one trash bag for the kitchen trash. The grill outside is very small. The kitchen lacked essential cooking tools. We had 10 people so we planned on cooking quite a bit. When trying to make breakfast there were no skillets large enough to cook in. There were not enough pans for cooking a meal. The coffee pot didn't work. The dishwasher has some issues and would never run on the first try. The game room is spacious and nice, but the pool sticks were missing the cue tips. The triangle rack was broken. The foosball table was missing handles. Only one of the TVs would work and that was attempted several times before we actually got it cut on. I feel like this has great potential, but it needs some major TLC.

Dangerous driveway. Poor cleaning. Master Bedroom had dust and other objects behind the bed stands that appears to have not been cleaned for some time. Same for the bed lamps. Plastic flowers also were dust magnets that hadn’t been cleaned in some time, Master bath shower dripped water and would not turn off. Mirror was replaced in MBath but wood where old mirror had been had not been stained to match other wood in bath. Also had black tar stuff showing on wood. The toaster in the kitchen was broken and needs to be replaced. 3 pool cues did not have felt tips, fooz ball table handle grips were missing on most of the handles, the video game joystick was missing. Bottom bunk bed in basement, one of slates was broken and bed was sagging. The mattresses do not fit the bunk bed frames. Large gaps are present. One of the stairs to the top bunk was loose. The water in the basement bathroom tub did not get hot. Only two burners on the stove worked. Vanity in downstairs bathroom had a piece missing under the sink. Headboard in upstairs bedroom was not attached properly. Stairs going down into basement had loose trim on the edge of the steps. Would NOT stay here again.

The hot tub did not work while we were there and it was not fixed. Water came pouring through the smoke detector in the master bedroomon our second of 4 nights. We contacted the emergency maintenance number and never got a call back. We still made fhe most of our stay and had a great time. Everything we needed was there. We just wish we had everything working.

Overall it’s a great cabin a few minor things
- extremely step drive way would be bad if snow or ice . Must have 4 wheel drive. Not a problem for us
- hot tub heated but jets barely work and cover is beyond wore out and very heavy
- advertised has air hockey but does not . However it’s better the pool table has more space with out it
- loved the layout we had 7 people and tons of space Would possibly return but not in the winter time Incase bad weather . Also I like to keep trying different cabins .

Zero communication after multiple messages
No communication that cabin was inaccessible based on weather
The first 3 days Driveway/Cabin inaccessible because of ice/snow due to steepness of drive
Shoveled and Salted it myself —no response when asked for more salt

The house was wonderful it was nice and clean and everyone had a great time. The drive needs to have the leaves blown off in order to get up the steep incline we had to sweep it off for the car to make it up.

The house was very nice. Plenty of room for all 12 of us. Kids had plenty of room to play inside. Saw a bear about every night. First night the bear came down our driveway then this morning the bear came around again. Grandkids loved seeing them and so did us adults. Really nice quiet location.

Great Location & Nice Cabin But….
Apple Bear is a big cabin and the location is great. Lots of privacy while still within a 10 minute drive of Gatlinburg. There are some issues however…. Deferred maintenance items include no screens in the windows, a washing machine that failed to run thru a complete cycle normally, a disconnected dryer vent, jets that failed to operate on the hot tub, and a lack of chemicals for the hot tub. Also, the cleaning group didn’t do the greatest job before we arrived. One bathroom hadn’t even been cleaned and we found items that the prior group had left. Only one mattress had a mattress pad. Plus we spotted some of those undesirable bugs…. Most of the batteries in the remotes and candles were dead. The only other disappointment was that the gas fireplaces were already shut off. I understand why but the evenings were still cool enough to want to sit by the fire.

Full disclosure
A long multi turn driveway at approx 25% grade. (Crazy steep)
No street light I would not recommend arriving after dark.
Mattresses all need to be replaced
Main floor bedroom missing mirror in bathroom (when PM called to ask about stay they said they would send someone to install a mirror and fix dripping shower in basement bathroom but they were a no show)
Mixing valve in first floor shower installed incorrectly so when you turned it on it would turn off 1/2 way to hot then cold on where hot should be. Not unmanageable just annoying)
Hottub didn’t heat above 98degrees
On the positive, the amount of space for 2 families of 4 was great.

House is great. Driveway can be a challenge.
House was great. Many items to entertain everyone. Family really enjoyed it. Driveway is very steep. Not a problem if driveway is dry or a little rain. But if it has snow or ice on it, I would not want to drive on it.

Just ok.
Needs a lot of updating from normal wear an tear. Our last night there we had to sleep with fan in room at full blast because A/C on the upstairs was not working. First floor A/C was on.

Es Hermoso el lugar muy limpio
Excelente ubicación súper amplia y cómoda solo q es para menos personas que en la descripción bien equipada en la cocina recomendaría agregar utensilios grandes para grupos numerosos pero es súper no se arrepentirán

Not quite what we were expecting
Pros; the hot tub was nice and each bedroom had its own massive bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and stand up shower.
Cons; the driveway is very steep and long its pretty hard on vehicles and slick in snow or rain. Luckily all of our party had AWD vehicles. For some reason when we arrived the floors were very dirty as if they had not been swept. Several of the stair caps for the stairway going to the basement were off and left at the top of the stairs as if they were going to be replaced. Multiple smoke detectors were down off the walls laying on tables beeping because they had bad batteries. There was no air hockey table, the foosball table only had ping pong balls, and every pool cue was unusable. When I called about the issues they sent someone out with two new pool cues. They did not fix the stairs or the beeping smoke detectors so we had to listen to that for the entire trip and every time we walked downstairs we had to step on a half dried glued seam. The burglar alarm went off randomly one night and the police came, no explanation as to why. The furniture throughout the house is so worn out that we literally were having to help one another get up after sitting down.
The cabin itself is nice and spacious and the decks are amazing, if the management company or owner would put a little effort into maintaining the property it would be a great place to stay.

Cabin was wonderful, driveway from H*ll
Honestly it couldn't have been a better cabin. It was as described and accommodating. And the property management was wonderful, kind and helpful. The driveway was iced over and we could only get our 4 wheel drive vehicle up bu sliding, wheel spinning and creaking our way up. The PM came out to salt the driveway and do a few things for us. After salting and the temps being above freezing we got the other vehicles up to the top. When the say *4 wheel drive only, it is NOT an exaggeration.
Other cars can make it but not in rain or snow. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds were comfortable and we LOVED having a bathroom in every bedroom. Our teens took the downstairs and it couldn't have been more perfect. Access straight to the bottom deck, hot tub and game room. They had large bunk beds, a tv, bathroom, great games and arcade games. The bunks and couch in the loft were great for our younger ones. The bedrooms temps on the top floor were touch and go with comfort. One was like a sauna and the other was freezing but we worked it out to make the rooms comfortable. - highly recommend this cabin and once again....4 wheel drive is a must (or all wheel). :)

Great Cabin but be aware of extremely steep drive!!!
Beautiful cabin and loved the location but the driveway is a nightmare! It rained and snowed while there and forget getting up if you don't have 4 wheel drive

Minor issues
Our stay was great! Had a good time and the house was the perfect size for our family. Only issues we had were the grill and dishwasher. The grill was very small and not what we were expecting. We planned to have a cookout while there and that grill did not meet our needs. The dishwasher did not work and we had to hand wash dishes for our big group. Also since we did a lot of the cooking at home we had a lot of trash, it was hard to take it out since the bear safe trash bins are at the bottom of a very steep driveway. For us these were very small issues and we would definitely stay here again! Great views and a great size for a big family/group.

It’s hard to know where to even begin. Let’s start with the driveway.I had seen different reviews regarding people disliking the driveway, Dislike does not even come close. It’s about a 60 degree angle. Insane! A normal car would have never made it up. The furnishings were old and dilapidated. Every other lamp or light didn’t work, or had no bulb. No air hockey table, as advertised, foosball table was broken, pool table dirty, one pool stick with a tip on it but had electrical tape at the other end. The toilet above the master leaks, the toilet above the kitchen leaks. There are cigarette butts everywhere, bottle caps and other debris. The love seat in the family room is missing support underneath the cushions, allowing one to fall right through. The mattress in the master bedroom must be from the 80’s, worn out springs and very loud. The list can go on, but you get the pic. All of these things wouldn’t normally be a huge issue, however, collectively, it is poorly maintained. Gatlinburg has a lot of nicer places. They really need to step it up.The driveway is definitely no joke. Better have a 4 wheel drive, or you WILL NOT make it.

Check in was great and the location was nice. But if a previous guest throws up on a bed, don't expect them to take care of you. Quick to respond, but the person that came to drop off the sheets (that were the wrong size) wouldn't take the sheets/pillow with throw up on it out of the property. So we had someone else's throw up in the house with us for the length of the trip.

Good but not great
Everything was great except the rockers on the porch were not very well put together. Two of them came apart while people sat in them.

Great stay during the pandemic
Our family had a wonderful stay during our vacation. The property managers were extremely responsive. We did document a few of the damages that were noticed when we arrived. They offered to come address the issues, but it was nothing that impacted the quality of our stay, we just didn't want to financially responsible. My only concern is that the listing does not accurately describe the steepness of the driveway. We had two SUVs and one minivan. The SUVs were able to get up the driveway with minimal problems. We shuffled things around and out van stayed parked the entire time as we didn't feel it was worth the risk of trying to get up and down in case it had rained. This driveway is extremely steep at the end. 4 wheel drive is almost a must. Otherwise, our children had tons of fun with all the activities within the cabin and had a great time playing. We didn't leave much and venture into Gatlinburg because of the pandemic. But it still ended up being a great time away, change of scenery, and wonderful family trip.

it is a Beautiful Home!
Was NOT pleased with the drive way, my mother in law, sister in law, niece and myself had to walk up the Very STEEP drive way,at least 3 times, it was not very clean, ESPECIALLY for a Corona Pamdemic!
If it rains, you will be miserable driving up and down the drive way!

Family vacation
We rented this property for an extended family vacation. When we arrived, we noticed several items that were broken and not fixed. We went through and made an extensive list of everything so that we would not be held liable. Also, the cabin, while relatively clean, had empty water bottles laying out downstairs. There was also an apple core and trash under the bed downstairs in the bedroom. We also found the cookware to be kind of a pain for a large family; however, the company did respond to us and brought out a larger pan and some hotpads. That was nice.
As for the rest of the cabin, it was quite nice and everyone had a place to sleep. The driveway is fairly steep like everyone says, it use a lower gear and go right up. We would definitely stay here again.

Incorrect detaila
this cabin itself is great. Three floors lots of space, great privacy within each individual bathroom.
That being said the listing is not very accurate which is why it got rated so low.
The driveway up to this cabin is ridiculously steep and curvy. On dry concrete we spun tires climbing up it every time. If it had rained a lot or snowed in the winter it would literally be impossible to climb. Just as difficult to walk up if you had through the yard. The bear proof trash container is at the bottom of the driveway also so if you were the type that didn't leave while you were here that would make it much more difficult to get the trash put away.
The downstairs room was listed as a queen bunk which is what the frame was. But it had full mattresses instead of queens. Two of the mattresses had blood stains which would have easily been taken care of if they had used mattress covers in the past but they didn't. The game room had pictures of an air hockey table which wasn't in the cabin when we arrived.
All in all the cabin itself was great but those small details hurt it a lot in my opinion plus I'm big on the truth and being misled by the pictures and description and missing information really does it in for me
