Will definitely stay at here again.

This property was perfect for my family of four. Location was great, for our trip. Discounted parking was a huge plus and management was great communicators!

The penthouse was clean with exceptional views of the green river in the midst of the Chicago skyline! My partner and I came to Chicago for a concert and to visit her son. The place was clean and comfortable. The location was awesome - we were able to walk to the river event and the St Patrick's Day parade and we could uber everywhere else we wanted to go. Check-in was easy and coming and going from the building was clear and simple. (Starbucks was a short walk next door every morning!) We loved the experience overall!
The only minor issue was the pillows in the bedroom were really dense and uncomfortable, but we we did fine. Again, great experience - the owners were clear about expectations and really easy to work with! We will definitely stay here again!

Absolutely loved our stay here at The Grand Plaza!!! Perfect location, literally the redline subway entrance was right outside the main plaza door, doesn’t get any better than that. Priceless views of the city, like someone said prior to us staying here, “it's like something out of a movie.” It felt very cozy, this place has everything you need for a VERY comfortable stay with the fully stocked kitchen utensils you’d need, washer & dryer and even a grocery store on the 1st floor right outside the main entrance. Everyone we encountered during our stay at the Grand Plaza was super nice, checking in and out was easy with no issues. I think it’s safe to say that we’ll be staying here again next year!!!
Thank you, Jim & Jeri-Lou for everything, we had a memorable stay. 😊

Nothing beats the views of downtown sitting by a fireplace! Tremendous experience and can’t wait to do it again!

Very nice place to stay. Loved that it was super clean soap, fans and paper products were supplied.❤️❤️. Everything was within walking distance. Nice super market in building down stairs. We did miss the areobed. Might want to get another one or change in listing. The kids just shared the sofa bed.Chicago was lovely.Thank you Again.

Not only before arrival were we constantly bombarded with „don’t do this“ and „don‘t do that“ - mails. Check-in only after 4pm (as „compensation“: check-out already by 10 am)! We were threatened with a „fine“ of 100$ if we spilled oil from the the gas stove of which we were wrongly accused by the hosts. After complaining about noise from the heating system in the bedroom, which robbed us of sleep for many nights, we were advised „to use ear plugs“. The spectacular view was compromised by dirty windows, for an insufficient water-flow-shower one must climb into a bath tub. Though we paid for 3 weeks, we left the place early for more friendly hosts at a different place. (So far we have met only polite, nice and friendly Americans in Chicago The hosts of this place were an exception.)

We came to Chicago for a family wedding and made a vacation for our family of two teens. The location of this incredibly clean, neat, organized and well equipped kitchen is prime. We were walking distance of many venues and activities we had planned. We used the parking garage and that was efficient because of the in/out privileges. The hosts, James and Jeri Lou, are excellent communicators with their aim to ensure we had all the information we needed to make our trip a memorable vacation, which it was. If we were to visit Chicago again, I would stay at the Grand Plaza and I would recommend this place to anyone!

Nice, very clean place with spectacular view and very well located. The city lights at night are like something out of a movie, absolutely amazing!

Our family of four spent a week here exploring Chicago. First off, the communication from the host was outstanding, including very specific directions for parking and check in that made it very easy. The apartment was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. The view was amazing, looking out at Marina City. The location proved perfect, as Grand Station and the red line are literally steps from the front door. This made it an easy train ride to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and the Art Institute. Willis tower was an easy 25 minute walk along The River Walk. And the Grocery store in the same building was very convenient.

When we knew we would be returning to Chicago for a Cubs game, this was our first choice! Great location, great property, great views.

Wow! Definitely the place to stay if you want great views, great location, and a spacious, elegant apartment. We were in town for a conference and you can’t beat the location right near Michigan Ave and the river. Views are amazing, and the apartment had everything we needed. The grocery store at the base of the building was a huge plus too.

I can't say enough nice things about our stay at the penthouse at Grand Plaza. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Chicago. We were walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shops. We took short Uber rides everywhere we didn't want to walk to. We did take the train once and the station is right at the building. The supermarket downstairs was super convenient and had everything you could need.
The penthouse itself was phenomenal. Check in was super easy. The floor to ceiling windows provide a breathtaking view of the city. The fold out sofa bed was great for my two young daughters to share. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could ask for to make you feel right at home. The amenities in the building were top notch as well. I used the gym on the 9th floor and was able to get a great workout in.
This was our first trip to Chicago and we loved everything about the city. We did a bike ride on the Lake Shore Trail, a sunset boat cruise on Lake Michigan, fireworks at Navy Pier, great dinners every night, and of course a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Every night I looked forward to going back to the penthouse to relax and end the day.
I highly recommend staying at the penthouse and I can't wait for my next trip to Chicago. Hopefully I will be able to stay here again or at one of the other penthouses in the building.

What a wonderful time we had. The views from anywhere in the penthouse were breathtaking. They had everything you would need. Super clean and very roomy. The location is almost perfect. Great resturaunts and clubs within walking distance or a short cab/uber/lift ride away. Can't wait to stay here again the next time we are in town!

We were looking forward so much to our first time in Chicago and staying in this penthouse 52 floors up. Everything that other people wrote about is true - the magnificent view, how clean and large it is, the location pretty close to great shopping and restaurants, the grocery store right next door. But we ended up being unable to sleep well the whole week we rented the place due to the unbearable heat in the unit, the unrelenting sirens from the two fire stations nearby, and the fact that the place has no dark curtains or shades. We could not even enjoy our day activities, we were so sleep-deprived. So this review is to let future guests know what you might encounter since very few reviewers write about these negative but real things.
As advertised, the unit gets tons of sun due to the floor to ceiling windows, so if AC is not available such as in April when we were there and it was around 80 outside, the condo becomes an oven and there is no way to cool it down. The owners only left two tiny fans and did not write/call to check in on us even though I am sure they knew how hot it could get in there. We kept hoping the next night would be better but it remained too hot to sleep properly. I did complain after 5 nights of this but owners did not offer any solution or refund. The few windows that could open opened in a completely inefficient manner so no cool air could ever come in. This aspect of the unit could really use improvement.
In addition, there was an exhaust smell from the fireplace (that someone else also wrote about in June 2022) that gave me a headache and was present on and off. I did notify the owner who said it was "normal since the pilot light is on" but I honestly don't think it is normal and we of course never turned on the fireplace.
It would have been very nice if all these things had been disclosed prior to our booking the place as we would have chosen elsewhere. If you do stay here bring a sleeping mask if light bothers you, ear plugs if noise bothers you, and be forewarned that if it is warm outside and the building is still on heat, you better be able to sleep in heat too.

Place was amazing! Very clean and the best view of the city. We took our son to go watch our dodgers get clobbered by the cubs and decided to stay downtown instead of wrigleyville and we are glad we did. Location is central to restaurants, markets, the bean, shopping…everything within walking distance! We will check this listing first when we go back to Chicago. Thank you for an amazing stay!

We are regular travelers to Chicago and this is our new first choice. The view is stunning. The wall to ceiling windows allow you to look out over the beautiful city and you can even see Lake Michigan. The communication with the host and check-in/check-out process is superb. The location is top notch and just around the corner from some top-notch dining options. The fact that the ground floor building is a full-serve grocery store just adds to the experience and concenience.

The property was very nice beautifully cleaned and very comfortable I particularly appreciated it was quiet which I wasn’t expecting from a high rise. The owner was very nice and helpful

Location is perfect. Walking distance to literally every single thing we wanted to do and see during our short stay in Chicago. View is spectacular as well.

This was our 2nd stay in a property owned by this Host. Precious stay was in the larger penthouse. This 1BR unit was very clean, looks just like the photos, and is fully stocked with all the comforts of home. The building has a nice fitness center and several areas on the 9tj floor where you can go relax if you want to get out of the unit but stay in the building. The location is great for mass transit and activities & restaurants. 5 min walk to Joe’s and Steak 48, as well as AMC theatre.
The communication with and from the host is as highly professional as much as it is personal. They have it down to an easy to understand exact science. Check in and out was seamless.
The views from the unit are amazing. You can see a beautiful sunrise and get to enjoy a nighttime cityscape ad tree r the sun goes down. If you have never stayed in a property or hotel at or above the 50th floor range, you owe it to yourself to stay here. It is a totally different experience being above most of the city with a view!
Overall we love staying at this property and have only great things to say about each time we’ve stayed here. (Last time was 2016, and it was just as nice and as easy this time as it was then) looking forward to staying here again.

There is a huge wow factor when you walk into the penthouse. For one thing, it is very nice and comfortable but the view of the city, especially at night, is amazing. Great location. You can walk and feel safe.

This one-bedroom apartment in Streeterville was perfect for my wife and me, close to all sorts of excellent restaurants, walking distance to the Art Institute, etc. The great bonus was the 9th floor amenities - clean gym, outdoor heated pool, lots of bbqs, outdoor running track. No complaints at all. We will definitely stay there again.

Great location, beautiful condo
We had a great time in Chicago and this was the perfect place for us because of how close it was to so many things, including the red line which got us anywhere outside of the immediate area easily. The place was clean, comfortable and all around great. The amenity floor was fun and allowed my son and I a chance to get in some exercise and hoops.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Plaza. The views were fantastic, the apartment was spacious and well-stocked. The primary bed was comfortable.
There were a couple reasons I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. The wifi was basically non-existent. The only way we were able to get internet at all was to hardline in to our computer, but the kids could never access it through their ipads. Also the fireplace gave off a gas smell, so we couldn't use it, and there was a sharp corner on the floor where the hearth meets the flooring (relevant if you have young kids).
We still had a very fun visit, and really enjoyed our relaxing evenings in while soaking in the beautiful views.

This location is right off the redline at State and Grand. Easy to access the whole city. It was clean, well maintained, and had views that were amazing. We could see so many of the towers and buildings with various lights. It was easy to get to the museums and the Museum of Science and Industry via CTA. We also loved having Jewel-Osco right by us and a great Italian restaurant- Quartino a block away. Both the boat tours and the famous dive - Billy Goat Tavern are close as well. Highly recommend and hope to stay in the future.

Beautiful apartment that is decorated nicely and has all the required amenities. We made Thanksgiving dinner there for our family and the closeness to good grocery stores and a fully stocked kitchen made it easy.
