Some of the silverware had to be re-washed. One of the coffeemaksers had what looked like mildew at the bottom, so we used neither coffeemaker. On the pier were a couple of life jackets and the storage bins doors were wide open. Otherwise, things were excellent and we love to come back.

Our stay at Claytor Lake was quiet, comfortable and fun with beautiful sunsets to end each day (or lead to further enjoyment in the game room!!). Me and my three VT graduates had a great time both at this Vrbo rental home as well as visiting former haunts and new places to eat in Blacksburg and the surrounding area. Our host Bruce was informative, efficient in providing information leading up to our stay and responded quickly if questions came up. We are already talking about returning to the same location/rental home next year..

The house fit our needs perfectly. Though it was chilly, we still enjoyed time outside on the sun deck on the water. We had one minor plumbing issue when we arrived, but the owner and property manager were very responsive and resolved it quickly. Thank you!

Our family of 7 (grandparents, parents, 3 teens) really enjoyed this house with the beautiful deck, and in particular, usage of canoe, pool table and arcade game. Everyone was quite comfortable in their respective rooms, the kitchen had all necessary appliances, and the hot water was great in the showers. The only small downside for staying in March, is it was hard to warm the smallest bedroom with the two twin beds downstairs, but even that small issue didn't last too long. The deck view didn't have as much open sky view as we would like to use our family telescope, but that is not something we should have expected. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this place.

Perfect spot for our group. We are close friends who travel together and this fit all of us. We loved stargazing at night from the top of the dock.. and, if you love movies, the dvd collection is AMAZING. I also schooled one of my friends in ping pong. Two of the bathrooms are in the downstairs bedrooms. Me and another gal stayed in the small room with the two twin beds, and since we didn’t want to walk through people’s bedrooms to use the bathroom at night we did go upstairs to use the one that was open to the hallway. This didn’t bother me at all. The bed was super comfy. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever back in the area. Close to town and plenty of parking!

We stayed here for a swim meet that my son was in. It was a nice house, older but clean (my son had never seen baseboard heat). The pool table was great, arcade is a PS 2, which didn’t work great, controls were sticking. We kept wishing it was warm outside so we could enjoy deck, canoes and water! The only downside of the property is the limited internet usage of only 2GB a day. We all had hotspot and the cell service was good, so it wasn’t too inconvenient, but if we were there longer and with more teenagers it might have been an issue. Overall would definitely stay again.

We celebrated my brother for his bachelor weekend and it wouldn’t have been the same if we hadn’t stayed here. We really enjoyed the dock, the house and the quick access to the lake and state park! The house was clean and welcoming. Would recommend and would stay here again in the future

My wife and I looked for a local lake home To get away for a few days ! We found this home and decided to try it. Upon arrival everything was nice and clean set up for comfortable visit. The dock is great and plenty of room for our boat our kayaks and jet skis! The cove is quiet and no traffic which makes it evens better. I will be staying there again soon !

Spacious home, comfortable beds, nice location. Wanted more of a lake view from the house, especially since we were unable to use the decks because of the day long, through evening cat visitors! They would sleep on the chairs, and early evening stand by the sliding doors staring at us or beg to come inside. The fan in the first floor bedroom could not be used. Toooo noisy. Pillows could be replaced. A tea kettle would have been appreciated. The visit from the ferret on the deck was interesting! The skunk spray very nearby the house was the highlight!! The fishing was great! (We realize the ferret and skunk visitors were part of nature!

We were in town for a funeral but found the wide open floor plan and the huge deck were suitable for receiving family and guests. We had privacy but also room to relax and enjoy being together. The bedrooms downstairs allowed private time for people who chose to be alone. Very comfortable and feeling of home.

Check-in was simple and was able to check-in earlier which was awesome for us! The property was absolutely gorgeous, the branches everywhere were kind of annoying but tolerated. We had fun canoeing and fishing, it was chilly but definitely worth the experience! We plan on booking again in the summer and renting the boat and jet ski for an even greater experience! Plenty of space for our family and great laughs and fun with the game room!

This property was absolutely amazing. My family is separated by Military so this was a much needed meeting in the middle quick weekend getaway. We enjoyed the game room, the canoe and just sitting on the deck and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We are hoping to meet again in the spring.

The house is beautiful the lake was super fun swimming and fishing, we had everything we needed to cook with already there, we were allowed to check in early and check out late, just a fabulous place very relaxing and the owners are extremely helpful and friendly I definitely recommend it for vacation, we will definitely be staying again

A lovely large house with plenty of room both inside and out. Fun for swimming, fishing, and just being lazy in the sun. The boys loved the game room, and the whole family played pool in the evenings. The kitchen had everything we needed and it was great that all the linens were provided. All the beds were made up and ready when we arrived - such a nice touch!

We enjoyed great fishing and boating from your dock. The house was nice and had everything we need. The only negatives were a bad smell in the water and downstairs small bath. All beds other than the king were said to be hard or noisy. The downstairs is much warmer than the upstairs but the fans were helpful. Everyone loved the cat that stayed with us!

Overall good cottage, great stay, and wonderful family vacation. Paradise lost has arguably the best double deck dock on the lake. Great for jumping, sun bathing, or a sunset drink. The cottage also has a fantastic game room that entertained the kids (and adults) during times of lull. Bruce the manager was very responsive and quick to problem solve. The cottage does require a good inside and out cleaning and could use a more detailed/thorough house prep. Still, a few hurdles did not take away from a great experience.

We rented over the Fourth of July and enjoyed the beautiful fireworks. The neighbors were so friendly and we enjoyed floating and kayaking in the cove. At night we loved sitting on the dock watching the kids swim. We would definitely come back.
