About this house rental
***Covid Precautions
This home has been professionally sanitized prior to guests arriving. It is supplied with wipes and hand sanitizer and all cleaning and maintenance staff have completed the Mexican Covid Cleaning certification program.
Casa Vidrio de Mar (Sea Glass House) is a beautiful, relaxing oceanfront home on the Caribbean side of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. This friendly, safe, and scenic five-mile-long island off the coast of Cancun, has preserved the beauty and charm of a Mexican fishing village.
Enjoy the turquoise hues of the Caribbean, a wonderful oceanfront pool, and a sandy beach right outside your door. The rooftop palapa offers views of the sunrise over the Caribbean and sunsets over Cancun Bay.
Casa Vidrio de Mar is located right on the ocean just outside of town. It’s a short 15-minute walk or brief taxi ride to spectacular North Beach and the downtown area (Centro) with its great places to eat, shop and people watch. Hidalgo Street is the place for nightlife and a variety of restaurants. There is a large Supermarket (Chedraui) a 10-minute walk from the house. The house is on the edge of the Colonia Meteorologica, where you find lots of small shops and restaurants. We also have off-street parking if you decide to rent a golf cart.
The beach in front of Casa Vidrio de Mar is a mixture of limestone, coral, and white sand. It’s ideal for beachcombing, sea glass hunting, exploring its tidal pools, or just watching the Caribbean waves roll in. Please note the house doesn't have access to the beach. You cannot swim on this side of the Island.
During the months of July and August, sea turtles lay their eggs on our beach and can be watched at night from the patio.
Between June and August, you can have a once-in-a-lifetime experience to swim with the 30 to 40-foot whale sharks during their migration. Isla Mujeres is a special place where the waters of the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico merge off the coast of this island and as many as 400 Whale Sharks visit during the peak of their feeding.
Our house manager can arrange for a personal chef, snorkeling, scuba diving, whale shark tours, trips to many area attractions, and anything else you may need.
Casa Vidrio de Mar is an affordable home, suited for family vacations, a getaway with friends, or a romantic escape.

Clean beautiful home with sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. We loved the rooftop views, but spent the majority of our time while at the house in the infinity pool.Great location on the island! Communication was always prompt. Could use some extra towels and maybe a dust mop vs just a broom as sand tracks in easily but overall would absolutely return.

We really enjoyed this property and location. This location was quite with as much sea glass as one could want. Only 5 minutes from North Beach and 20 minutes from Punta Sur by golf cart. Amazing sunrise from the master bed. We swam in the ocean (of course with water shoes) just out the back door. Appliances all worked well and had plenty of bottled water ready for us. Fast response from host we we had questions. Highly recommend

The location was awesome! Looking right out at the Caribbean is priceless, able to search for sea glass was a plus! Walking distance to some food and drinks! We did have a small issue with the pump needing to be replaced and it was taken care of in a timely manner.

We liked the property, enjoyed the stay. We did lose power for 1 morning of our stay. This caused the inconveniences. On island management informed us that the owner failed to pay the power bill and that we should contact VRBO. The power was turned on some hours later, owner/VRBO didn't respond to us until after we were leaving the island. Assuming someone got ahold of them and/or paid the bill? We would have liked better communication, spent time looking at other places to stay, just to be prepared if the power stayed off. Otherwise, we love Isla, the house itself was nice, but unsure if we would trust renting again.

This house is beautiful, in a great location, beds are comfy, ac is cold and the pool has the most beautiful view!! I do have a few suggestions for the home, full length mirror in the living area, the rooftop furniture was not clean so we couldn’t really hang out up there. I suggest making it a bit more presentable with some plants, due away with cushions and add some games or hammocks something to draw people in to the roof because the view is amazing!! Overall I would stay here again and definitely give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

We had an amazing time here!! The pool was perfect for just chilling and hanging out. The access to the beach was great. The kitchen was great and we enjoyed making breakfast and dinners here. Chema the house manager was very helpful!! We will definitely come back and stay here again!!

Me my wife and my two daughters aged 11 and 12 enjoyed our stay immensely at casa vidrio de Mar. The pool is amazing and access to the beach fantastic. I was able to swim some in front of the house even with the Rocky conditions. We saw sea turtles laying eggs right in front of the pool. It's very convenient, close to play Norte and also close to the south end. We spent days at Kin ha as well as Mayan beach. The best thing was we were able to have days where we just stay at the house and swam and the pool and enjoyed the beach. The house does have ants, But that is to be expected when you're in the Caribbean. Just make sure you put all the food in the fridge. After we were there for a while we noticed significantly fewer ants. Play cleanliness of the house was fantastic as well as the communication with the property manager. We were able to connect our Netflix account with the smart TV and our girls really enjoyed this as a way to get inside and cool off for an hour or so during the heat of the day. The pool really makes this house. Highly recommend staying here, they were so accommodating and helpful during our stay.

Just got back from our girls trip and our first stay on the island. Spectacular sunrise views every morning and pool time in the evenings! Communication with the concierge was excellent throughout our stay. The house has everything you need for the most relaxing stay! Center of the island so whether you want to hang out at Playa Norte or do a bar crawl on the south side of the island it’s just a 15-20 minute golf cart ride! Check out was even easier as our Concierege even had taxis for us to get to the ferry in plenty of time. I would highly recommend booking this house for your stay on Isla!!

The property exceeded our expectations! Our first visit to Isla Mujeres, and we are grateful we picked Casa Vidrio Del Mar. the house was perfect, the pool was outstanding, the rooftop offered a great view of the sunrise & sunset, and the beach was peaceful. A bit rough, but we still went in for some nice snorkeling. We will definitely be back to stay at this house! Chema (our concierge) was a great resource, and always willing to help!

This house isn’t a perfect location. The house has been completely remodeled. It looks amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. The pool was absolutely wonderful. If you ever get a chance I highly recommend visiting this property you will not be disappointed.

Great home. Far better than expected. We have been to island more than 10 times. This is one of our two, top pics. Pool wasn’t working as should, but it’s in the works. Easy access to beach, town, everywhere!!! Beds are pretty hard, so a pad would be nice. Really really enjoyed our stay!!

We liked the property. Great location for downtown Hiligo and centro. Just need some updating. Couch/futon was real stained and dirty. Curtains in house were stained. Bench seat was totally dirty and was covered by a blanket. We only one towel a piece for 6 people for the week. One wash cloth. Room were nice, kitchen was nice. Overall just needed updated.

Amazing view
We stayed at casa vidrio for seven days and Im so glad we booked our vacation at this beautiful house . We all had such a great fun time at the pool and walked along the beach to explore . There’s so much to do in this beautiful Island .We only had one issue with the pool and Algae but that was all taken care of when I called maintenance number they came out cleaned it and we were able to enjoy the pool again . The view from the main room is breath taking ! We can’t wait to return , thank you !!

The most perfect place on earth
To wake up here every morning is paradise. The views are unbeatable. You cannot swim in front of the house but that doesn’t take away from the experience with some of the worlds most beautiful beaches right around the corner. The home is spacious and comfortable. The location is convenient to everything via golf cart . The check in process is excellent. Chem took excellent care of us. There is limited seating in the living space, no grill or “beach bags” in the rooms as the listing specified but neither were huge issues. There are beach towels but if you’re there for more than a few days you probably want to bring another. We will definitely be back - this was one of our favorite vacation experiences of all time.

From Texas
Our stay was more than expected. We arrived and were greeted with a granted early check in to our rental. We had about 4 hour delay to check but we're able to check as soon as we arrived on the island(noon). We were greeted by Chema, who was fantastic. He accommodated a taxi for cart pick up and delivered food for us a few times as we had a flat on our golf cart. Pool was warm and fantastic. Only down falls were the spare bathroom smelled the #3 bedroom (next to front of house) each time toilet was flushed. Also the excess water pool (on edge) was filled with algea and also smelled at times. Otherwise would still give our stay a 5. We didn't feel need to call for these issues as we can understand plumbing in Mexico and the heat..

Definitely Recommend
It’s important to keep in mind that if you are traveling from the US or other countries, you need to adjust your expectations of luxury and comfort. Culture and norms can be very different. We are not strangers to these differences and the home was exquisite. The views and pool were breathtaking. Our children loved it and our strolls on the beach our out the back gate were amazing.
The home is central to the island and we walked to a number of locations or used a taxi. Our primary contact Emmanuel was always responsive, kind and helpful.
I suggest not running the AC when you are out swimming in the pool because it is so cold when you come back in.
There is no laundry on site but the most amazing ladies working at a laundromat a few blocks away.
I could go on, but you get the point. It was a good home and host.

Great location, amazing pool
I previously owned a home on Isla and since selling it I have rented several properties over the years. I would say the home itself is an average home for this area but what sets it apart is the infinity edge pool and the seating area surrounding it. We spent the majority of our time there. We would have appreciated the use the rooftop deck and palapa, (especially midday since there is no shade at the pool) but unfortunately it had not been cleaned in a long time and there were piles of bird poop everywhere, including the stairs to get up there. Chema the caretaker was fantastic and I can't say enough good things about him! He helped us with everthing from getting groceries, a golf cart, liquor and ice and covid testing.

This was an awesome place to stay on Isla with the family. Lots of great memories made here with our 3 kids. We loved the location, and we recommend a golf cart rental. The kids loved the pool. Thanks for having us!

Family Spring Break
Beautiful classic Mexican Casa. The location was great for our family just outside of the busy city and right on the Caribbean Sea. The pool and patio was where we spent most of our time while at the house. This house also has access to the beach, which although you cannot swim on this side of the island, every morning we walked the shore looking for sea glass and watching the iguanas. The staff was very responsive with anything that we needed help with. The only disappointment was the rooftop was very dirty, where the Pigeons have taken over the area. We did go up to enjoy the beautiful view, but furniture was too dirty to use. Again- the pool and patio made up for this!! The rest of the home was just perfect for the bedrooms and living areas. I strongly recommend getting a golf cart for getting around- Ciro was a great company and had a cart delivered to our Casa and then we dropped it off after dropping our family and luggage at the ferry. (About a 3 block walk).
Definitely recommend this place and would stay again!!

Great views
We loved our stay here. It was close to activities and easy to find. A good space for our small group. Comfortable beds. The kitchen was not very well equipped but we made do. We loved sitting on the deck and staring at the ocean.

A Five Day Siesta
We originally rented this property in February of 2020 but had to postpone twice, due to Covid. Two other couples traveled with us. The property is located in a perfect location. It’s about ten minutes from town, the beach, Punta Sur, etc… You can walk on the beach behind the house and search for shells and treasures. The last night we were there a mama turtle came up and was laying and burying her eggs. Suggestions for the house would be for the house to upgrade their television service and put T.V.’s in the bedrooms. Overall, we had everything we needed and had a great time, though.

Wonderful House and Location
The house is perfect, it is an open floor plan so everything is right there. Kitchen, Living & Dining room. With a beautiful ocean view from all of it. Nahim (the property Manager) what a great guy met us there and helped us get settled. We have been coming to Isla every year for over a decade and this home has the ideal location. Near other homes, but nice and quiet. Great parking for your golf cart and a couple minute drive to town. Great beach for sea shell picking.
Ideal place for a couple or a family.
We truly enjoyed staying in your beautiful home,
Thank you !

Lovely, peaceful location for Isla fun
We spent a week here with 6 adults. I had always dreamed of renting a beachfront house for a week on the ocean rather than a traditional hotel. So this was the first time we had went this route, although we have stayed in timeshare hotels with similar full kitchen/living areas. So we weren't sure what to expect exactly, but waking up to walk out & see the ocean every morning sounded splendid. And it was!
So there were many positives we must share:
* This house is truly in the best location on the island, just 5 mins by golf cart to the busy north end or 15 to the south.
* The area isn't overly noisy & the beach out front is so empty & serene. We barely saw more than a handful of people out there. And it's wonderful for shelling or looking for sea glass - there are tons of both!
* It's so nice to have a space to relax in the evening with your own living area. We played games at the table every night (and they have books & games to choose from, too, & also cable & WiFi).
* Beds were comfortable & clean & the rooms all had nice, big wardrobes for your clothes & AC units.
* There was a large bottled water cooler provided, which was SO wonderful & convenient.
* The maintenance staff was amazing at responding quickly when needed.
Things that might have some opportunities:
* The place was tidy overall when we arrived, but felt like it hadn't had a good, deep clean in awhile. For instance, our bedroom (the middle one) and bath (2nd one) both had some big dirt marks on the walls like it's time to wash them down or repaint. The patio furniture cushions could use a wash, too.
* Some items were well loved, like the toaster that only worked on one side (and didn't fit bagels); the kitchen broom that was broken and kept falling apart when you tried to sweep; the handle on the sliding door that was missing; & the living room wicker chairs that had some wear.
* A few more coffee mugs in the kitchen were necessary (there were only 4, so we bought 2 & left them)
* The futon couch mentioned in past reviews was pretty worn & there's definitely a big sunken hole on the far left (we just put a pillow over it to sit there)
* The amount of bath towels was just too few. We each had 2 sets for 7 days & you just get too sandy & dusty to reuse more than twice. Ideally, 3 sets each to start & a midweek exchange would have been ideal.
Overall, though, the house was great for a relaxing week of peaceful ocean enjoyment and the location is perfect!

Winter Getaway
The location of the house is great and the view of the ocean was beautiful. The house was clean and Kate was very helpful at check in. The house could definitely use updating. The one couch is not usable because the spring on the cushion is so damaged. The out door large seating area was not clean.

Fantastic View!
This was a great property as far as location to town and fantastic views of the water. Short 5 minute golf cart ride to town and the North beaches. Plenty of room for our party of 5. If you don't like being so close to the water that you hear the surf at night this may not be the place for you!

Christmas in Isla Mujeres
We did have some issues with the refrigerator but that’s going to happen because of how humid and salty it is in Mexico. Other than that the beds were comfortable we didn’t use the pool much because you have the beach not far from the house and the beach right in front of the house. We found a ton of nice shells and sea glass right in front of the house in the water. Great place to take your family!

Spectacular
This was the best vacation. Just the right amount of relaxation and things to do. We did buy a few groceries but eating out was so reasonable I now wish we would’ve just made the restaurant rounds because you cannot get better food. Tremendous vacation.

Things to include
The only little extras I could think of:
1. Since our first night the power went out we didn’t know exactly what to do so maybe just call out what to do in that instance.
2. The last night the ac went out in one of the bedrooms and made a horrible noise so we had to turn it off. Maybe have some standing fans if that happens to at least open that room and use a fan from the rest of the house could have helped.
3. Call out the water that is already there for you. We happened to ask before luckily and didn’t stop to get water. And it was plenty for us.
I think that is all I could think of!
Thanks!
Tami

Cute Mexico home
We loved our stay! Very accommodating. Perfect for our family size. Amazing view of Caribe side of island. Would absolutely recommend. The Water quit working we called maintenance. They were there in minutes.... but naturally it came back on before they arrived. They gave us good places to eat & different ideas of things to do as well.
Thank you ♡
