About this house rental
Down a quiet country lane, surrounded by vineyard and orchard views, sits our re-modeled 1920's farmhouse. Welcome to paradise in the wine country!
Most of the property's seven acres are devoted to apple orchard and meadow. The main house consists of four spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, formal dining room and den. The kitchen is well equipped and makes it fun to feed a group indoors or outdoors. The kitchen was completely remodeled in the Spring of 2015. The house has everything you need to make your wine country vacation enjoyable. Beds and baths are appointed with fine linens. Off the kitchen, a large patio and deck provide a perfect spot for barbequeing and dining al fresco at the large teak table. Read and fall asleep in the roomy hammock. The location, the so-called Banana Belt, has more sun than anywhere in West Sonoma County! Days start out cool, warm up through the afternoon and then cool off again in the evening, making this a perfect climate for living inside or out.
There is a remodeled, one bedroom guesthouse with a full bath, living room, and wet bar.
A 40', solar-heated swimming pool near the main house provides a great place to cool off in the heat of the afternoon. There are two organic vegetable gardens where you can pick over 50 different varieties of herbs, vegetables and fruits for your meals (depending upon the season). Over 70 mature rose bushes around the house provide bursts of color. There is a sport court with a basketball hoop, adjustable volleyball or Pickleball net and lights for late evening play. Lines painted on the court are official Pickleball court dimensions.
There are many fun things to do nearby. You'll be close to the greatest pinot noir and chardonnay tasting rooms of the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley. Healdsburg, Sebastopol, Graton, Occidental and Forestville are minutes away by car. You will find wonderful restaurants, art galleries, and fun shops as you explore these charming towns. There are several excellent grocery stores within a few miles and the Sunday farmers' market in Sebastopol is fantastic.
The possibilities for active outdoor living are limitless! You can walk, run or bike the Joe Rodota trail or the scenic and little-traveled backroads nearby. There are four public golf courses, including a Dr. Alister MacKenzie design, a short distance away. The Pacific coastline is a beautiful drive over the hill from Graton through Occidental. Hiking beneath beautiful Redwood groves or canoeing on the Russian River is 15 minutes away. For the thrill-seekers, there is a zip-lining course in the Redwood forest only 7 miles away.
If you are looking for a special treat, you can revive yourself with a day trip to the famous mud baths in Calistoga. If you desire something closer, there are several day spas in the immediate area.
The property is very private and quiet. At night, city dwellers will be dazzled by a sky full of stars. You are away from it all and still close to everything. San Francisco is 60 miles to the south.

Family gathered over the holidays at this lovely (inside and out) property. Host was super-responsive and made us feel very welcome. Took advantage of the sport court (when it wasn't raining) and played a lot of ping-pong in the barn. House and cottage well appointed with linens, cooking items, and everything else one could need. Enjoyed fruit from the lemon & lime trees. Would love to return to this fabulous property in the summer!

This is a lovely old house with lots of character but updated with some modern amenities. House was comfortable, clean, and in good working order. Lots of space to explore in the house and the property overall. We had a couple minor issues that came up (e.g., heater went off) during our stay but Katie the homeowner was very response, helpful, and pleasant to work with.

Marvelous in west Sonoma County
This was as wonderful a vacation rental as we have experienced. Four good-sized bedrooms with comfortable beds and good closets / storage. Living spaces are comfortable and sufficient for different family members doing different things. All bathrooms were very well-appointed. The kitchen is lovely, and has excellent appliances and tools. But the outside might be better. An excellent pool, warm and clean with generous seating and plenty of easy-to-use umbrellas. A grand deck for meals, or reading under the grapevines. And they're not kidding about a functioning garden - we took advantage of ripe tomatoes, herbs, strawberries and lemons while we were there. Oh, and the guest house is not just a throw-in; it's just as lovely as the "main" house. Examples of the little-but-thoughtful things include nightlights in the upstairs bathrooms and hallway, the SONOS and charging cables in the kitchen, decently sharp kitchen knives, among many others. The owners were extremely responsive and helpful. Some of our highlights include Muir Woods, Bodega Bay, farmers markets in Occidental and Sebastopol, restaurants in Sebastopol, Geyserville, Santa Rosa, Sonoma, Healdsburg, etc. It was certainly pricey for us, but it is clearly invested in making it a great place to stay.

We can’t speak highly enough about this wonderful home and property! There was something for us all—from a lovely, well-equipped kitchen where we cooked, to beautiful outdoor spaces where we relaxed, to a fantastic swimming pool where our youngest grandchildren made great strides in swimming, to gardens where we picked plums, lemons, and tomatoes, to a sport court where we attempted pickle ball— and more! We did some sightseeing in the area but absolutely loved all that this property had to offer. We had 10, including grandparents (we stayed in guest house) and two families with children from age 5-14. We had excellent communication with Katie. We’d go back in a heartbeat!

We really enjoyed our stay. The home had everything and I mean everything. There were 9 of us with 3 kids under age 6 and it was a great size to give us all our own space. Fabulous pool. Great places to play. Bountiful garden. Location perfect for all the fun things we wanted to do from Bodega Bay to Sonoma. I highly recommend to anyone. It was the best experience from start to finish.

I would recommend this property to anyone without reservation. The house is very comfortable, large and extremely well stocked; the grounds are impeccable; the pool is warm (solar panels!); the owner is great; and, there’s a totally separate guest house for anyone who wants to have a bit of privacy. I stayed there with my two young kids, husband, mom (who took the guest house and raved about it despite having very high standards) and had friends stay there as well for several nights (also with two kids). There was more than enough space. Beds were very comfortable. They had everything you could possibly need to cook, enjoy the pool, etc. (tons of appliances, condiments, towels, rafts..). Very family-friendly home overall, complete with board games and child mattresses. The kids loved picking strawberries right behind the house. We used fresh herbs from the garden as well. The outdoor space is definitely the highlight of the property and we loved using the pool and patio for meals and lounging. There were huge roses and lavender plants in bloom everywhere. We had a perfect week. If I had to come up with “negatives” (both very minor): a couple of rooms are slightly dated and it’s not really walking distance from anything. But again, highly, highly recommend. Thank you, Katie!

This was the perfect house for our group of eight friends to reconnect and use as a base to explore the wineries and other sites in the surrounding area. The property owners are helpful and friendly. The property is perfect for large groups. The kitchen is well-appointed and had everything we needed. We would definitely come back again.

Beatiful wine country oasis, far (enough) from the madding crowd.
My wife and I recently hosted our two daughters, their husbands, and our 4 grandchildren at this gorgeous Sebastopol-area chateau for a week, and everyone had an absolutely lovely time. The young people made themselves and their families at home in the 4 spacious bedrooms on the second floor of the main house, while my wife and I took the separate guest cottage (well out of earshot of crying babies). During waking hours, the family spent time together in the comfortable living room, at poolside (the pool features a motorized retractable cover, an important safety feature if your group includes small children), and at the large outdoor dining table, where we usually ate dinner. The 7-acre property is stunning, with a fruit orchard and a bountiful garden of herbs, berries, and other edibles. There is a vineyard next door, which makes a pretty sight and reminds you that you are indeed in wine country. The house is on a quiet road, with very little traffic, but it is less than 15 minutes to Sebastopol, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. It is very convenient for biking, and I enjoyed a couple of nice rides while we were there. The kitchen is well-equipped, and everything worked. Bottom line: great property for a family getaway, and everyone in our tribe loved it. We definitely would go back.

Great House!
Recently returned from 4 nights here. House was fantastic! Kitchen was perfect, great dining room, SUPERB outside area!! We tried to stay out as long as we could, but the evening winds were blowing cold. This would be a great place to stay in the summer when the pool is in functional and the weather suits. We had a group of 8 and everyone enjoyed it! Drove out everyday to wineries and never too far to hit the ones we wanted; even drove to the coast one day! Graton was closest town and it has a couple to restaurants and tasting rooms. If you stay, you have to go to Underwood for dinner. We went twice.. Great property value.

You will need nothing as the house is very well equipped for just about anything you can need or imagine. The owner is great to deal with did everything possible to make our stay memorable. There were 8 of us and everyone felt the same and want to rent it again!

Beautiful experience ~ beautiful home.
Having just returned from our CA stay, we are anxious to return when the pool is open & roses are in full bloom. Our family gathering of 6 adults & 2 children was entirely enjoyable, in large part because Katie is so communicative. Her home is lovely. A work of art ~ think Frank Lloyd Wright.
The children were happy with the comfortable surroundings, playroom, comfy beds & our daily nature walks. Adults appreciated the stunning views, as well as the meticulously kept, extremely well appointed & equipped home. Katie’s timely notes & attention to detail contributed in important ways to our family’s enjoyment.
We’re grateful for our time in Green Valley Haven. It is conveniently located; features beautiful & comfortable amenities & is spacious, yet warm. The photos are representative yet cannot fully capture the beauty of the interior & gorgeous setting of this unique home & its surroundings.
Highest recommendation! 5+ stars.

Wonderful property
We have stayed at a number of properties over the years and this one took care of the little things that make a vacation home perfect: nice mattresses, beautiful decor, a well-maintained home, fully stocked kitchen, and an unbeatable setting.

Gorgeous, well kept property in a perfect location.
Our family stayed at Katie's house for a birthday weekend. We filled the house and the guest house, the youngest is 10 and the oldest 75 and everyone loved it. For us it was perfect. The house is very clean and has everything we needed, the kitchen, dining room, and living room are large and comfortable for hanging around together, the rooms were very nice, and the grounds were beautiful to walk around. We even spent a morning playing basketball. It's a great place for friends or family to be based for a wine tasting week, or a special occasion.

A beautiful retreat!
We stayed at this property for ten days for a small family reunion. The house itself is beautifully appointed, and contains anything and everything you could ever want. As an avid cook, the kitchen, in particular was a total dream. The surrounding property is also absolutely stunning. We picked from the vegetable garden and fruit trees daily, played on the sports' court and swam in the beautiful pool. It really had something for everyone in our group, from the age of 6 to 75! Finally, the property owners could not be lovelier or easier to communicate with. They answered any questions we had within hours, and had fabulous suggestions for things to do in the area. Truly one of the best holidays we have ever had as a family.

A Little Bit of Heaven
My girlfriends and I, all grandmas, recently escaped to this little bit of heaven for our annual "retreat."
The large, old house is charming and evokes a sense of history. The spacious living and dining rooms allow for both comfort and formality. The kitchen is a chef's dream, and the organic fruits and vegetables that grow abundantly on the property are an added bonus.
Mornings were spent walking past lush orchards and vineyards, while afternoons were spent lounging by the pool and enjoying the beautiful and very private grounds. Napping in the hammock that hangs in the shade of a tree guarantees complete relaxation, while the sports court guarantees fun. Finally, evenings were spent barbecuing, dining, and engaging in lively conversation as we sat together under a sky full of twinkling stars and The Man In The Moon!

Absolutely stunning property and charming home
A group of 10 of us rented Katie's place for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. The property was absolutely perfect for us. We had plenty of room for everyone and we took advantage of the many amenities like: ping pong in the barn, basketball on the sports court, board games, the beautiful views, and the gorgeous and well-equipped kitchen. It is very apparent that the owners truly treasure this place. The location is very private and quiet while still being close to Graton and Sebastopol where we went wine tasting one day. Katie was great to work with and super responsive to any messages or requests. She checked in to make sure we all arrived safe and that everything was in order and even had someone come over to light a pilot light that was out in the guest house. It's one of the most beautiful vacation rentals I have ever stayed at and I can't wait to be back!

Wonderful Wine Country House
Can't recommend this highly enough for a group. The house and grounds are beautiful and very comfortable. Lots of places for people to hang out together or get some private time. Our daughter was celebrating her 40th birthday nearby and I was responsible for a chunk of the brunch the next morning. The kitchen is very well equipped. And the owner was exceptionally responsive and accommodating.

Perfect for a Family Getaway
We rented this home for my father's 80th birthday celebration. It was perfect. The main home is beautifully appointed - with much of the original detail preserved - and has plenty of room for a large group. There are several comfortable spaces for both gathering and getting away, as well as a nicely stocked and recently updated kitchen. The guest house also is very nicely done, with a well designed bedroom and living area.
The setting of the home is gorgeous. The view from the spacious deck area, especially at sunset, is beautiful. Though we did not take advantage of the gardens or the pool given the time of our stay (mid-March), we hope to do so during a summer visit. We loved using the sport court for basketball with our boys, and the ping-pong table in the barn was put to good use as well.
The location of the home is ideal. Great wineries, redwood hiking, quaint towns and the the ocean are all in close proximity. Our routine was to sleep in, have a late breakfast, explore the area for a few hours, and return to have cocktails on the deck at sunset. Though we ate in most nights, there are many great restaurants in nearby Sebastopol, Graton and other towns. It really was perfect. My father had a wonderful time.
The owner of the home is extremely responsive and professional. She alerted us to road closures in the area due to flooding, gave us alternate routes, and was genuinely concerned with ensuring our stay was satisfactory. This is easily the best rental we have found through VRBO. We highly recommend.

Amazing Stay in Sebastopol
My family (10 of us) stayed here over the holiday week. The property was amazing. It is located in a very quiet area and has a lot of nice amenities. The location was perfect as we were able to visit Healdsburg, Calistoga, downtown Sebastopol, Sonoma and other parts of Napa with a quick drive from the house. The owner was also very responsive with us, which we really appreciated. I highly recommend this house for a family reunion.

Wonderful week in a charming home
This house was an amazing home from home with so much to do for the kids, we hardly saw them! The house was very well equipped and even had a secret shoot for your laundry! For the kids there was the pool, basketball, tennis and pingpong. My 80 year old mother stayed in the annex house, which provided a peaceful recluse. We also enjoyed the beautiful strawberries straight from the garden. The location is amazing: a short walk and you are surrounded by vineyards with some great restaurants a short car ride away. Our party consisted of my mother, 4 adults and 4 children (aged between 8-13). The owner, Katie, was very responsive and made sure that our stay went smoothly. In summary, a wonderful retreat for all ages.

Ideally arranged
For the second year we so enjoyed this house and property. Each bedroom provides comfort and privacy, and the public spaces allow for varied activities -- games, talk, cooking and dining. We had fruits and vegetables from the gardens and lovely walks on the country road. Everyone marvels at the pool and deck space. The owners are careful to provide everything necessary and respond quickly to any unforeseen needs. Anyone who visits us there wonders how we even found something so perfect for our getaway.
