About this cottage rental
This spacious cottage, built in 1886, is updated with every amenity while maintaining its Victorian charm. Please inquire with owner before requesting a booking.
The gourmet kitchen has vaulted ceilings, skylights, a subzero refrigerator, custom cabinets, a Heartland 6 burner gas stove, and an antique wood table that easily seats 10. The large rooms and generous updated bathrooms make the cottage an easy place for two or three families to share without feeling crowded. Enjoy three queen bedrooms, a bedroom with 2 twin beds, and a bunk room: The master queen bedroom has a sitting area, flat screen HDTV TV, and full bath (shower stall and original club foot tub). Two additional 2nd floor bedrooms (one queen and one with two twins) share a huge whimsical full bath with skylights (shower stall and claw foot tub). A first floor bedroom also with a queen bed is next to a full bath (tub with shower). The third floor bunk room - always a favorite space - includes a double bed, a bunk bed, three additional twin beds, and a port-a-crib. The third floor also has its own full bath (shower stall). High quality mattresses throughout. The living room area has a flat screen smart HDTV TV, internet (wired and wireless), DVD and VCR. Bead board, refinished pine floors, lovely antiques, hand painted furniture, and joyful wool rugs grace the cottage. Side porches and sunny, spacious interior living spaces cheerfully accommodate visitors. Amenities include a full-size washer and dryer, a generous supply of linens and beach towels, and two water heaters so everyone can count on a hot shower. Many lovely places for entertaining.
Stroll through the Victorian gingerbread wonderland that is Bay View, a National Historic Landmark. Bike to nearby shops and restaurants in Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and other close and charming towns, or sit together on Victorian swinging benches at Sunset Park to watch the sun set over Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan. Walk to one of two Victorian inns in Bay View for an excellent meal or return to enjoy your own gardens. Create a feast of local white fish, smoked salmon, cherries and peaches, etc. in your gourmet kitchen and on the gas grill. Whether you come to enjoy the rich fall color or the summer sun, you will be pampered in this lovely 'painted lady.'

Old...yes, quaint... absolutely. Our family of 7 stayed for a week. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The back porch was a huge hit from early morning coffee to game nights after dinner. We loved the rock beach for rock hunting and just relaxing with a book.

First of all, my communication with the owner was exceptional. I was very impressed with all the information I was given and very prompt answers to any inquiries I sent to her.
This Victorian cottage is located in a very unique and beautiful area in northern Michigan. It was extremely clean, cozy, and decorated in such a way that make guests feel welcome and comfortable in a “home away from home”. We certainly appreciated all the amenities, attention to detail, very well equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone who might be looking for a special experience and place to stay in the area.

Petoskey area is beautiful. This home is in historic Bay View community, making the stay even more special. The home, built in the late 1800s, is large, well outfitted and very comfortable. A good location and we recommend staying here.

We were a group of 8 family and friends staying in this charming cottage ….. it was very well equipped , quite spacious and we loved the location both within the Bayview Association and amongst the various other towns “up north”. We look forward to returning ❣️

Our daughter was married at the Perry hotel and we stayed with my extended family at this wonderful house in Bay View. It was the perfect in every way. Lots of space for family gatherings with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There were also plenty of beds, and bathrooms, all with very thoughtful details to accommodate a variety of needs. The kitchen was an especially well planned space that we all enjoyed. The location was also wonderful, as it was close to the venue so it made it easy to travel back and forth, but also near the bike trails, restaurants, beach, and wineries. The house was exactly as shown in the listing and Charlene was happy to answer any questions that I had. I would definitely recommend this wonderful home and feel so blessed that she shared her lovely place with my family during this special time.

We loved the back porch and front deck especially.
Found the stove unfriendly and wavy floors difficult to navigate. Otherwise it is a lovely home and all our family enjoyed it.

The house was as expected except that some kitchen items and porch cushions were dirty. The kitchen was well stocked including spices and sufficient paper products were provided.

There’s no other experience like it. All the charm and history makes this cottage truly magical. Owner is very responsive and easy to work with. Our family of 8+ 1 small child had plenty of room. The large table was wonderful for meals and playing games.

We were in town for a family wedding. The home was perfect for family to stay together. Location was great to get to wedding and all the celebrations. Our teens totally enjoyed being so close to the beach, and the adults enjoyed walking the Bay View neighborhood and into Petoskey. Would definitely recommend having a great family gathering. Cottage was very comfortable and provided everything the family needed for a great stay.

Perfect for our girls trip. Especially loved the kitchen and the second floor bedrooms/bathrooms.
The porches are very inviting but we were unable to enjoy them because of the cold weather.
Great place for family and friends.
Hoping to return again one day.

It's a beautiful home. It's the second time we stayed at the property. Need I say more. It's very clean. Kudos to the cleaning people. Home away from home. The home has everything we need. The location is perfect. We biked the wheelway. What a quaint, quiet neighborhood. The owner is very, very quick with communicating and is very accommodating. We are glad we have found this gem.

Wonderful Stay!
This cottage is really lovely. Great attention to detail and impeccably clean. You also can't beat the location. Bike paths are easily accessible and you can ride or walk along the lakefront or into town. We looked forward to our daily runs on the paths and our son discovered some lakes nearby for fishing. You really can't find a better place for a family getaway.

Bayview Cottage House Experience
Enjoyed our weekend very much. House was everything we wanted and close to wineries and activities we wanted to do. Side porch and large kitchen were where we spent our time. No tv just music and conversation. Thanks for letting us use this property we all said we would love to stay again sometime.

A beautiful, cozy cottage!
This cottage is beautiful! Great location, clean, and had everything we needed. Kids would LOVE the 3rd floor! Our favorite thing about our vacation was the time we spent with close friends at the 12 foot, beautiful kitchen table. The kitchen was so inviting. The neighborhood is quaint. Looked like a littleNew England town. The Terrace Inn is right down the street. We had a very, very nice vacation.

Fabulous
The house was fabulous. We loved the back porch and the kitchen in particular. Absolutely great areas to hang out with friends. The whole house is perfect. We had so much fun staying there. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped with everything you could possibly want, much more than your average VRBO house. We have stayed at quite a few VRBO properties and this is by far the best. The location is lovely and we really enjoyed the walk into Petoskey downtown. It felt safe even after dark. We are already talking about coming back next year!!

Great time
We had a great stay in this historic home! We spent a week here with several children. The neighborhood is great for families, with a small private beach a few blocks away. There is also a pool for children, but it was not open yet in the last week of June. A playground was right down the street and there are a number of kids programs available through the Bayview Association.
The house is in a great location. We loved the large kitchen that had plenty of space for eating and cooking. I would recommend bringing eye shades if early morning light will bother you. Two of the rooms were still quite bright starting around 5 am, even with the shades down.
Overall, we had a great stay.

Revisited
This cottage is perfect in so many ways. This was the second year our foursome stayed here for a week of golf. First, the Bay View section of Petoskey is lovely and quiet. Second, the cottage is beautiful inside and out. Perfectly furnished and decorated for Lake country. And third, the open floor plan of the living and kitchen/dining area gives the cottage a relaxed feel, a wonderful environment for conversation, games, reading, etc. We’ll be back next year.
